In the case of Sohyang it’s difficult to say what is more impressive about her: Her voice, her life story, or the reason why she sings and might not be so widely known. She should be mentioned in one breath with Whitney, Celine, and Mariah but she chose a different path for her life. If you listen to interviews with her you’ll see a human with one of the biggest hearts ever and so much happiness even though life put major health obstacles in her way. She is a very special human being,. Plus recently she has actually doing more of her own originals.

Sohyang is amazing! I have already requested another video with her (and another amazing vocalist you are familiar with) so this won't be this last you hear of her for sure.

I love watching people react to Sohyang for the first time because it usually goes like ->impressed->shocked->//offended//->just in awe. (If you ever want to get your tits blown clean off, watch hear perform Mona Lisa on King of Masked Singer) This is from the folk songs episode of Immortal Songs and imo she was the best but the whole episode is chockablock with killer performances. (I was gonna request it actually but at some point KBS World moved all the episodes from Youtube to Viki 😭 RIP) Ms Sohyang is a gospel singer!! She has done shows/competitions/festivals like this, but rather than 'soloist' she is mostly someone who sings at her church. Just and unreal skill and talent.

I feel it goes a bit like this: “oh, that’s a sweet voice”. Then you realise how clear and precise she is and realise you have probably only heard very few people who are that much on pitch on every note in every run etc. Then you realise the emotions she conveys (the number of reactors crying when they hear her…). And then she cranks it up a notch making you think: ”OMG, she has power.” and then she often cranks it up a second time making you think it’s just unreal.

So, she can sing. Like sing sing. Like a lot of sing. There was a bunch of singing going on in that video. Yeah, she can sing.
