What a powerhouse! 2nd and at least early 3rd gen fans know how groundbreaking this group was. Those were the days when vocals dominated (though SM has remained pretty well committed to debuting great singers). I wish more late 3rd gen and 4th gen fans knew and had an appreciation for what came before and who led the way.

For a completely different vibe, check out Mirotic or Catch Me - both have MVs. ETA: If you don't absolutely love both, I'd be incredibly surprised. Both videos are ICONIC. The choreo for Catch Me is something special.

Some TVXQ basics: They debuted under SM (same as Taeyeon, SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet and aespa) in late 2003 and are generally counted as the first 2nd gen group. You will also sometimes see them mentioned as DBSK (or DB5K), which is the acronym for their Korean name, it means the same thing "Rising gods of the east". They were phenomenal, both in terms of vocals as you heard, but also good dancers. They broke many records including a Guinness world record for biggest dues paying fandom, and were the first kpop group to make it in Japan. Sadly in 2010 three of the members sued SM to break their contract (and won!). They formed JYJ (Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu), but they had a hard time promoting cause they were black-listed by the entertainment industry in Korea. Luckily, they could still work as actors in k-dramas and musical theater. Yoochun has since gotten into some scandals, so JYJ is probably done for, but Junsu and Jaejoong are still active as solo artists and in recent years have even started appearing on music and variety shows again. Meanwhile, Yunho (U-Know) and Changmin (Max) chose to stay loyal to SM and have re-signed many times I guess. They are still active as TVXQ duo and also as solo artists. I think you may really like their solo/newer work. Changmin also has a great collab song with Taeyeon and Winter from aespa, 'Priority' which you should definitely check out. They will be celebrating their 20th anniversary soon, so we'll get a comeback :D

This song was composed by Yuchun and Jaejoong.
