Bro that scene with Reina and the mom is so beautiful to me cuz of how the mother could tell, even from the smallest mannerisms, that this humanoid ant just had to be her child. Just shows how a mother always knows their child, and will love them no matter what crazy circumstances they are hit with. We barely know these characters but the scene still hit different to me personally. Great full circle moment with the very beginning to this great arc. Togashi is a goat 🐐 . lol leave the Zodiacs aloooone 😭 Togashi was just having fun! 😂 In all honesty, I didn't care for the Zodiacs' designs either at first. They grew on me. But yeah, they take after the animals of the Chinese Zodiac (i feel no one ever realizes that). And like Jack said, out of respect for Netero, they went out of their way to embody the Zodiac codenames by changing their faces, clothing, etc. BUT it wasn't a requirement which is why Ging (Boar) and Pariston (Rat) do not look like animals lol.

Ging is the Goat! Pariston (rat) taunted Ging that his son might die, Ging look him the eye and said "Go visit him, he isn't going to die" in pure confidence with a smile.. Carter was on to something there, I notice that too when I first watch, Ging might have the ability to foresee the future, but I don't know the condition that power is too OP to be overly used! In the manwha Ging is not confirmed a - specialist or any other nen category by the author. Personally, If I were to gamble, I think Ging is a manipulator.. but then its complicated there's so many factors. He has all the traits of the nen category according to hisoka - nen personality test.. Enhancers: simple and earnest Transmutes: fickle and dishonest Emitters: Short-tempered Conjurers: High-strung and Nervous Manipulators: Argumentative Specialists: Charismatic and Independent Literally, just watching this episode tell me Ging hasn't done all that.. its crayzie! Those 12 Zodiacs are the Chinese version.. they have their own thing!

The zodiacs embody the different animals that are part of the zodiac. He gave them names and they changed their appearances and vibes to go off that. Ging and Pariston both embody their animals in personality, but their personalities were already that way, so they didn’t change anything. And as Jack said, the zodiacs are doing it out of reverence for Netero (not because he died, they’ve been doing it for a long time). It’s a sorta goofy design choice, but it’s to set them apart from other hunters. There’s a reason Netero chose them. Sure they look goofy, but they earned their positions.

Y’all need to not have any expectations for this show lol Togashi writes and draws what he wants.. but that’s what makes him such a profound writer. In the case of the zodiacs, some were born looking like animals and some were not. The ones that don’t tried to resemble more of their creature out of respect to Netero. The ones that do were given their zodiac symbol based off their appearance.

I would guess he is a specialist given his abilities (kind of reminds me of Chrollo) and how he is considered to be one of the top 5 Nen users. However, he could also be a manipulator as you said and just have complete mastery over the other Nen categories. It's hard to say unless we see more or are told directly.

Before watching the shows, I hated the weird looking characters in hxh and one piece too and it was why I didn’t start one piece for awhile but after watching them I grew to love and appreciate how unique and unpredictable their character looks were. You will have some of the sickest character designs in anime from one piece and hxh but also the most ridiculously looking characters in anime aswell. It’s fun 😂

I love every time Carter says "he's so creative" LMAO. I don't like most of those designs either, and I think people need to understand that you can have a creative character design that's ALSO aesthetically pleasing. I think with One Piece, Oda legitimately wanted there to be 'ugly characters' amongst all the others, so they're sorta intentionally ugly. I agree that intentional or otherwise, having the bad/ugly character design + obnoxious and loud personality, it can be a bit much. Like the cow guy has a ridiculous design but he's still likeable because he isn't obnoxious.

It’s unfortunate that the next arc hasn’t been adapted to anime. The new characters in the next arc look very creative, but still feel very “Hunter x Hunter”, unlike half the Zodiacs who feel like they’re characters that have been pulled from other series.

personally I really like Togashi's drawing style in the manga, it can be a very realist drawing (like junji ito horror's style for palm) to a very goofy/cartoon drawing (like Ikarugo). Also when you will finish hxh I recommend you "hxh promotional manga video" it's reaaally cool I love the aesthetic with the music !!

Yeah they should def watch the promotional vid, it would get them hype for new anime content in the year 2079. (There are 2 PV btw, one for overall HxH and the other for new content. Highly recommend both).

Imo they gotta understand at the end of the day HXH is still a shounen right, meaning its not gonna be consistent in its tone even the titans in AOT have goofy aspects. So if they're looking for constant serious designs and stuff they should stick to seinen shows like vinland

When it comes to the Zodiacs embodying their respective animals, the narrator said looks and personalities. That would lean in more towards Ging and Pariston for the personalities because they don't have much of the look. "They are energetic, enthusiastic, and love to have fun" is a quote about people born in the year of the pig. I do think that Ging's hat with his frayed hair sticking out resembles a warthog though

Although I don’t feel completely the same way I do understand why some of the Geks aren’t a fan of the zodiac designs. I think in terms of them altering their appearance to embody their zodiac animal, I wouldn’t be surprised if they used Nen to drastically change their appearance somewhat and characters such as Pariston (Rat) and Ging didn’t really bother to because they didn’t care about it as much whilst the others held a great deal of admiration and respect for Netero

Also they mention it abit earlier in the show but the reason why only Knov and Morel went with Netero was because the Vice chairman was making it very difficult to send any more help such as the zodiacs. Although Knov and Morel are pretty high ranking hunters they aren’t at the same level as most of the zodiacs in terms of pure Nen ability but it could also be said that their Nen abilities were very useful for the type of mission that happened

Another correction: The Zodiacs are NOT necessarily he TOP 12 strongest Hunters. Many of them dont even have combat capabilities. they are simply a group of people whose abilities Netero recognized to manage the Hunter Associasstion. And on another note, we've been through the reason why not more Hunters weren't sent to NGL so i think its pointless to go through it again a third time. Example: Morel could be a Zodiac. He isn't cause of chance or happenstance

I think that was just Mckay saying, its not a shared opinion. But it is indeed curious how nothing seems to please them. There is always a problem. Its whether the pacing, the character design, whatever the hell it is this time... Nothing is ever good. I think JJK had an effect on them. The show where all characters look like modern day ticktockers with attractive bodies and pretty faces. But i guess 1 year ago these guys were literally anime haters and now they have an anime business. maybe the transition was too sudden. so maybe im being too critical. It just refreshing to see a story that strays so much from orthodox shonen archetype and has so much personality in it that is a little disappointing to see someone asking for run of the mill normal character designs. Not that its that important.

I think he had many problems with the last arc kind checked him out of the show, but he has to continue watching for the sake of the channel and the others. That's why he is nitpicking on every detail. He said it is interesting that this new character (reina) is suddenly important before knowing who she is. This tells me that he is focusing and analysing the details from story telling perspective and not actually watching the show.

Brooo it’s actually so perfect that you bring him up because he’s the shining example of why one pieces character designs are so genius. I won’t spoil but I’ll say that he has a reason for dressing like that and it’s genuinely one of the best moments in the series when you find out.

Regarding Gyro - in the manga there was a scene during the training arc where the narrator said that Gyro was reborn as an Ant with all of his human memories intact and that his willpower was so strong he was able to immediately leave the Ants. It was also stated that he was heading to Meteor City and that he would have an encounter with Gon in the future. The anime cut this part out, probably because it is set up for a future arc that may never be written due to Togashi's health issues.

I’m just wearing a tinfoil hat here, but IMO based on all the reactions I’ve seen of his, I just feel Carter considers HxH a C tier show in truth. But he can’t really critique it as much as he wants because sometimes fans go rabid online. It’s fine to not like a show of course, but you can tell with all his input he kinda beats around the bush or tries to dress up criticisms in a somewhat positive way (i.e. “The author is very creative, that’s all I’ll say”). He’s had a more tepid, tame reaction to this show than others. IMO this show is definitely not his taste. I respect that he doesn’t just blindly praise the show though, and it’s good to have variety in reactions else it feels fake.

The anime was kind of put in a difficult position because plot wise Gyro isn't much of a factor in this arc, but they couldn't completely cut all of the Gyro stuff because Welfin's loyalty to Gyro and his connection with Ikalgo through Gyro were important for his character development. But the Gyro arc will probably never be written or adapted due to Togashi's health issues so I can see why the anime wanted to condense that storyline in the CAA as much as possible.

I just cannot bring myself to like this arc tbh. I like parts of itwith Alluka, and some moments, and i like the dog girl Cheadle, but this whole meeting is hot garbage i wont lie, it goes on way too long and the feel the need to explain in depth every single thought of everyone and every last process of the election its just way too much I also just hate the sudden tone shift back to old HxH after how dark chimera ant was, even the use of the old overused music i hate it It just doesnt work for me

I frankly dont care if the designs are "creative" or if they are Neteros will, bad designs are bad designs. The majority of the designs from the chimera ant arc are just cool or good in other ways Cheadle the dog girl is perfectly fine and cute i like her, Pariston is annoying and his design fits, hes ok. Ging is ok but his hat is trash. And the bunny girl is cute but the rest? theyre actual hot garbage. The horse guy is possibly the worst design in all of HxH that is 100% unlikable and unredeemable

Lol, surely you've had time to realize how silly you're being? First, you're conflating "good design" with "cute". Then you say you like Cheadle's and the (very diverse) majority of the CA designs for whatever arbitrary reasons, but somehow dislike the Zodiac designs for equally arbitrary reasons, then make noise insisting "bad designs are bad designs". It's obviously perfectly fine if you find the Zodiac designs ass, but trying to transform your tastes into some sort of objective fact, is just silly, especially in something as hazy as rating designs.
