I just love the casting, they did such a good job with that. Kind of emphatize with Theon, he probably lost all sense of belonging to his own family and this triggered a loss of identity. Which lead him to his decision. Also so excited for all these new characters being introduced! Don't worry about an uploading schedule. The magical elements in the A Song of Ice and Fire series are more subtle and mysterious than in a series like Lord of the Rings. I find the mystery and taboo around magic to be far more interesting in this series.

I agree, Theon’s inner conflict is understandable. However the important lesson he’s missing is that blood is not thicker than water. Ned and the starks treated Theon leagues better than his own family. But unfortunately their honor did not rub off on him.

No spoilers and gonna try and be as vague as possible but some people liked to keep their eyes shut throughout the course of the show and actually really believed GOT would have an extremely straightforward and Hollywood/Marvel-esque ending. When it didn’t people got mad.

The main problem about s8 is how rushed it was. It could have easily been stretched to 2-3 seasons with a much better pacing. Some of the single episodes should have been half a season worth of content but they just rushed them into 1 hour. Also the writing is bad compared to earlier seasons

Yeah but the writing drops off starting in season 5-6 if you want to be extremely objective. Most people actually found Season 8 to be pretty solid until certain events sent casual fans into a manic spiral.

Why we didn’t see Joffrey more these two episodes? Cersei and Joffrey lose Janos slynt the Commander of the City Watch who they can manipulate and Marcella is betrothed and being sent to Dorne. Joffrey has nothing to say? I think between Cersei slapping Joffrey last time she saw him and Cersei knowing it was Tywin that sent Tyrion kept her from going to Joffrey with these two big issues. Remember what Tywin told Tyrion when he sent him to be hand, about how to handle matters after Joffrey killed Ned. Cersei knows her father well enough. Tyrion told her at that first small council meeting she was now the disappointing child. For now, Cersei has Joffrey upset at her for slapping him and Tywin upset about Ned being killed. For the moment she is in a weaker position or she would have done something about Marcella being betrothed to Dorne.

With GOT the beginning of each season builds a new story. That is what makes this show so great. New people, new places, new story. It’s never truly predictable and new characters are introduced to go along with the ones we already know. They have to show you all the new things then the story can really start moving forward mid season. The end of each season is always the best episodes because they have laid the groundwork, put the story in motion and then can really hit it home with some awesome action. The books are 900 + pages long. So the show has to really lay the groundwork to move the story forward and get you invested in people you love and hate. It is worth the journey and Season 8 is 54 episodes away. It’s way too early to start the complaints about that. It’s only season 2.

Yes I totally agree on him not appreciating the treatment he got from the Starks. Do you maybe know how his relationship to the starks were portrayed in the books?(I haven't read them) The same as in the show? His fathers manipulative and bitter demeanour totally got to him. Rewounding his inner child which makes him make unreflective decisions like a little boy who wants to earn the love of his father. Given those circumstances, I don't think he was able to make the right choice. Logic unfortunately doesn't apply here 😅

It’s been years since I read the books, however afaik this portion of Theon’s story is basically the same in the books. The dichotomy between the starks and greyjoys is the same as well and actually super meaningful , however his sister Yara’s name is ‘Asha’ in the books. You should definitely read the series if you get the chance, Theon’s story is one of the best that GRRM ever wrote.

Maybe this was covered in another post. The books use a point of view of a few main characters to expand the story and the world. The second and third book explore a lot of places, while fourth and fifth deep dive into some of them. That's why it may feel that there are many things in flux. Having a map and a family tree handy will improve your viewing experience. For those who watched the show once a week, fans spent hours talking/researching about the world, characters and predictions. I saw someone recommend Alt Shift X on Youtube. That's a great resource
