Jack, you keep confusing the Sept of Baelor with the Dragonpit. (which I get, you guys watch a lot of shows and things can get jumbled and hard to remember sometimes). The Dragonpit is where Aegon was crowned. There is a Sept in HoTD, and it's called the Grand Sept, which we saw a bit of it when Aemond fought against Aegon towards the end of the season and I think some scenes with Rhaenyra and Alicent. Regardless, that same Sept was then later replaced by the Sept of Baelor many years later.

The Tyrells are not descendants of the Hightowers. The Tyrells are the high lords of the Reach, which is where the Hightowers are from. The relationship is comparable to the Starks and the Boltons, or the Tullys and the Freys. (You guys really should watch Histories and Lore, it will enrich the story for you and pay off later on) The main difference is that even though the Tyrells are the Hightowers' overlords, the Hightowers are a much more ancient house, probably the oldest still in existence. And since the Hightowers city - Oldtown - is the home of the Faith and the oldest port, they are rich and influential (it's basically the Vatican). In the books, the Hightowers along with the Daynes often have Valyrian features (even before they married into the Targaryens), which is a bit of a mystery since they have no Valyrian ancestry (and this all stretches way back before Valyrians had ever come to Westeros).

Hate for Joffrey is understandable, but his character in the show is based on a much younger character. In the books, he's 14 by this point, it's more understandable how he acts this way lol. He's also less cruel for the sake of being cruel in the books. Most characters are younger in the books, sometimes by 2-3 years and others by like 15. Some characters are the same age in the books, but the only significant character I can think of being OLDER in them is Theon.

Theon is 18 or 19 at the start of the books and 16 or 17 at the start of the show. I didn't say Joffrey wasn't cruel, I said he was less cruel for the sake of it. In the show, he seems more like a sadistic sociopath even if this was influenced by his mother. In the books, he often does things to gain approval or prove himself, often misunderstanding what he should do to obtain this. Joffrey sends the assassin to kill Bran in the books after hearing about how "he'd be better off dead" sorta thing.

As HotD fans I'm pretty sure they're just conflating them being from the same region as the Hightowers with them being descended from them. It's natural to try and look for those kinds of connections having watched a prequel show.

Daemons line is also tied into the Hightowers farther into the future after HOTD. Not something we will see on HOTD. HBO put up a post recently of HOTD characters who are related to Margery. That one surprised a lot of people because it’s a smaller detail in the books.

Something you have to remember about Joffrey, and I always think about it when he gives that look while pausing after eating the Pigeon Pie, like he just can't help himself but try to get a one-up on Tyrion. He was born of incest, brother-sister incest specifically, which probably contributes A LOT to his sociopathy. Like something in his brain just doesn't connect right (because it certainly doesn't). Obviously Tommen and Myrcella don't have it, but 1/3 is typical for real-life births in this way when resulting in that closely related incest. So while I do hate Joffrey (despite his INCREDIBLE comedic timing), you ALMOST can't blame him. Although to be fair, I know you guys skipped it but him giving HotD spoilers 10 years before they'd be relevant is insane.
