That explains why the Number 4 demon ladies power was being exploited for. Muzan wanted not just to find Ubuyashiki, but to track everyone else so he could precisely trap them all in the Infinity Castle as well and eliminate them. HOT DAMN, THIS IS AWESOME!!!

My guess is that if he didnt catch Muzan of guard, muzan would have easily gotten away from the explosion. At least that's what Muzan kind of explained. The Master needed it to seem like that was the last thing he'd ever do. But maybe there's another explanation.

As a manga reader, I wasn’t watching this season because it was my least favorite arc (still good though), but of course i was excited for the finale. However, it blew me out of the fucking water- it was done SO WELL. I was completely locked in and just amazed at the animation.

This episode was sooo good!! I don't rate things often so I wouldn't know what to give to this 😅😅 Btw at the end of every episode there is this little sketch of Tanjiro giving facts about some characters, for this episode he talked about Rengoku so it would be great if you guys watch it!! I'm so excited for the movies, I will definitely miss not having your first reaction to it, but experience this at the theaters will be on another level!!

I enjoy Demon Slayer overall and I'm willing to accept this is a hot take but it's never really drawn me in fully in the same way that my favorites do, I've never felt as invested in the story. To me, I think the biggest thing is that we're 4 seasons in and I just don't feel like that much has happened overall. It's a very small world and a very narrowly-focused plot imo. This season felt representative of that for me. While it's fun to see the training arc and it led to some great character development, it's kinda wild to me when an entire season is almost all training exercises. Idk, it feels weird to me that the story's almost over because I still feel like I'm not invested in literally anyone except Tanjiro. Overall I'd still give it an 8/10 because it's an enjoyable watch and visually I feel like it's setting new heights for anime, but on plot and on characters I'm kinda ehh

Ufotable's special effects department fucking COOKED this episode. This episode had shots like the explosion that looked photorealistic. While the animators definitely deserve praise, it was the special effects team that really cooked this episode

Your guys reactions are CONSISTENTLY so hype and just the best on the platform. This episode was done more than just justice. You couldn’t ask ufotable to do a better job on bringing the panels to life. I would give the episode a 9.5. Phenomenal episode but definitely not to the likes of the greatest of all time

Brig saying Jujutsu Kaisen has the same story as Demon slayer is crazy. They are both the same as battle shounen anime but the story fundamentals are completely different. And not a single arc so far from Demon Slayer can top Shibuya arc.

I think the difference is with DS we are at the end, and with JJK we still have so much more to go and Gege is still writing it. So we've had more build up to the climax for DS but we've barely scratched the surface of JJK. I love them both. They're in my top 5, and I think like, up to this current point for both shows, that I'd agree and say I like DS's story more, UP TO THIS POINT.

I agree with Carter that this show has incredible highs, but not in the same way as others you guys have watched. It’s easy to get extremely invested in a show that jangles the metaphorical keys in front of animation enthusiasts. But here, it uses that to disguise a rather narrow plot. For the most part, it’s always felt like “monster of the week” to me with training arcs in between, but not much else beyond the realm of the Demon Slayer Corps themselves. It would have been interesting to learn more about how this alternate history 19th/20th century Japan dealt with the Demon crisis but instead it’s explained that demons have become mythical and no one really knows they exist anymore. I would be interested to learn how THAT happened. But sadly we don’t get any of that. But I’ve read the entire story, and Ufotable has greatly improved on the manga. If this were adapated panel for panel, the show would actually be pretty boring. But it’s thanks to incredible voice work, fight choreography, and unmatched animation that this show has been CONSISTENTLY setting the bar for the rest of the medium since Season 1. And not that it has to be so, but I just wish there was more under the surface to bite into with this one. Especially with everything else it has to offer.

I really love the animation in this show and how it combines hand drawn animation with computer graphics. However, I still love hand drawn animation more than CGI because sometimes I feel they can overdo it with CGI. The best Ufotable hand drawn to CGI animation ratio in my opinion is still Fate/stay night series where they struck a fine balance between the two. It's obviously subjective if you prefer this style over hand drawn animation. Most of the moving parts here (besides the characters themselves) and special effects were computer generated graphics, with that explosion being the most obvious example. All those fire effects in the explosion and the fire just before the explosion is pretty obviously not hand drawn or drawn in the classic two dimensional style. Whenever you see such high quality crisp three dimensional objects animated in such high frame rate (a good example is the debris from roof tiles getting blasted in slow motion bit by bit) it is a dead giveaway that it is in fact computer graphics since two dimensional animation is never drawn in such high frame rate nor is the camera turn in three dimensions that detailed or fine. Another example is the camera movement in the demons castle and the parts of the castle itself. Most of the blood effects and skill effects from the hashira and the demons using their skills are actually hand drawn tho, and those look amazing, as does everything in this show for that matter really look amazing. I would just prefer if Ufotable would dial back the computer graphics a bit and go back to a more hand drawn approach because that to me feels so much more alive and human. The actual high velocity camera dynamics or objects and characters in super high speed motion when they are hand drawn in high frame rate can give me so much adrenaline that I have never been able to get from any movie, or CGI ever. That is why I fell in love with anime in the first place.

Demon slayer is better than JJK just off hitting you in the feels. I feel the emotions they want you to feel. I love all the characters. And want all of them safe. The storyline is also great sure its straightforward but what's wrong with that? Everything doesn't have to be overly complex to make it good. Jjk is not good at all to me and boring. Yeah it had good fights but idc who lives or dies in that show. No character pulls me in and makes me care at all about them. What is JJk storyline anyway? It barely has one. They just use gruesome big fights to cover for the lack of storyline and interesting characters. But anyway this episode was amazing. It left me feeling for more. That explosion scene was crazy the animation was beautiful looked so real. That ending of everybody being dropped in the castle soooo good. I know the end and I'm not ready but I can't wait for the movies 😩😩 This end is about to go so hard. I give this 9.8 because it ended too quick

jjk hits me way more in the feels but its probs just based on what characters u like more. Like for me most of DS cast could die and I wouldn't feel a thing. I also like the themes and how they are handled more in jjk - it also feels a lot different then most shonen whereas DS feels like shonen boiled down to its simplest form. Simple doesnt mean bad. I have no real complaints with the DS story I just feel like I could write it myself.

Jjk characters blow DS out of the water for me personally. Same with the story. But we are all entitled to our own opinions. Gojo is literally the most popular anime character rn. But To me DS feels like something I’ve seen before whereas jjk keeps u on your toes and most anime onlys would have not a clue what’s coming. Complex≠good but the theme and depth are better for me

I think a part of it to was DS was a lot of peoples first anime and then at some point if finally started to receive some criticism. Too much sometimes - the same with a lot of shows. And I only brought up gojo was the most popular cuz it just shows how many people were pulled into the characters of JJK. It’s definitely a lot more then mainly looks in a male dominated space…

i respect your opinion, however in my opinion jjk has had peaks as high or better than demon slayer, while still having a remarkably interesting story with iconic, memorable characters, just something after watching 4 seasons of demon slayer i still think. i PERSONALLY** don't think the writing of demon slayer was ever good, and that the show had lots of problems with its characters, for example in this season the existence and way they show the "mark 1" random slayers during hashira training that aren't the main characters is so uninteresting, they add nothing to the plot for many episodes, and we have no emotional attachment to them

@Erikas I respect your opinion also but jjk just doesn't do it for me. I tried watching it 3 times and still come out feeling nothing. These new demon slayers they are showing are just introduced to be red coats. Nothing more. Just used to show how grueling the hashiras and their training are. And that not everyone can do it but Tanjiro and the other mains. I despise training arcs in every anime. So yeah this season was a little weak. But that's just because most training arcs in anime suck. I think they were just trying to give us some happy moments before the storm. I'm just mad at how they reduced Zenitsu back to his season one personality. Like he has already grew past this so why make him a joke this season? That's my only gripe with this season besides it being a training arc

Agreed, I just don’t like Gege’s writing choices, and style which is fine. The characters so far just lack the same emotional payoff. Yuji is hardly a main character, and the deaths in the Shibuya arc fell flat for me. But that’s just me!

you know i actually disagree with that i think at the beginning he was reduced yeah but zenitsu experiencing trauma is finally making him become something other than a whining crybaby NPC maybe he will finally be a likeable character (for me). and yeah not every anime is for everyone, i couldn't make myself enjoy AoT, an anime revered by many if not most, i don't like tons of things about demon slayer, so I definitely get not feeling JJK, and i don't think it's a very emotional show like evangelion or something, it's very much written with a different goal than demon slayer, despite being very much shonen. the season was weak sure and it mightve been 'cause its a training arc, i'm not sure i've not watched too many animes altogether led alone ones that had them, but to me personally most of every season of demon slayer is average or below average until they decide to turn it up and characters take action with purpose for its peak moments, and animators do their job, so for me it wasn't anything new as far expectations for the seasons go. i will definitely be watching the movies but i do hope demon slayer's story is building towards something with the brief passages of the sun hashira, his bloodline, rengoku passing on knowledge post-mortem and tanjiro's ties with muzan. i don't think you should ever force yourself to try and like a show, but i do think a show like JJK is popular for a reason, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and its not like you have big reasons to be as deeply invested in the MC like tanjiro, but there's a lot to like about every other character, and they're very explored and it does have A fight i consider one of the greatest in anime overall, so they def doing some things very well. sidenote the way they introduced season 2 of jjk i thought was superb.

FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO THINKS JJK ISNT GOOD Demon slayer is emotional and i care about almost all of the characters (besides sanemi), even the nameless side characters that die in the spider arc for example, that made me feel awful seeing it, they made me care that quickly. For JJK, Nanami is one of the better characters, and i didnt care even a little about his death, not emotional and i felt no sadness, nor do i feel the show changes at all because of it. JJKs characters are just simply not good. They arent likeable. Demon slayers are just so much easier to like. As for fights Demon slayers are infinitely more hype, and the soundtrack is one of the best in all of media, JJK has absolute no memorable music. I do not care for more realistic, well choreographed fights, if they look cool and are still easy to follow and are hype with emotional payoff, thats enough to be amazing and demon slayer does all of that. JJKs story doesnt even make any sense, we want to feed yuji all the fingers to bring back the most dangerous villain who we have no chance to kill, but lets do it anyway??? Yeah demon slayers is as simple as defeating the bad guy, but thats a classic simple story concept for a reason, it works.

Feeding Yuji the fingers isn’t to bring sukuna back. The whole show is based of Yuji being the only one that can eat the fingers and NOT bring back sukuna. It’s the one shot they have against sukuna. That’s established like episode 2. U can criticize all u want that’s valid all but celebrating at the opportunity to hate something is a lil wack lol
