I like how they showed the truth of the fight at the Tower of Joy, but they removed one of the knights and made Ser Gerold Hightower a bum. The choreography of the fight was better than a lot of what we see in GoT, but the dual-wielding is just goofy. Where is Dawn, the massive, white greatsword made from the metal of a fallen star (asteroid)?

In the books, Arthur Dayne doesn't dual wield he uses a huge greatsword called Dawn which was forged from meteor ore. The choreography is pretty cool but I'm not a big fan of dual-wielding. Kinda feels ripped out of a video game but not in a good way.

It’s a common theory he did. Others think Howland Reed or his brother Brandon did. Some sort of fling between 2 happened when they were all together. And apparently she committed suicide later after Ned brought back Arthur’s body and sword but it’s a pretty common theory that she actually isn’t dead and is secretly alive somewhere

Time travel in this, AOT etc... always pulls on Carter's mind. I highly recommend Steins Gate; you'd love it and finally get to explore this mental urge to the fullest. I doubt it'll ever win a popularity contest against action anime but in case you guys just wanna pick up something short (and masterpiece imo) it's only 25 epiosdes complete story.

At the end there Cannon…The Mountain is who kills and rapes Elia Martell. Elia Martell was married to Rhaegar Targaryen, Daenerys’ eldest brother & the Mad Kings heir. They had two children whom Oberyn refers to in his trial by combat. They were also killed by The Mountain. Rhaegar kidnapped and raped Lyanna Stark who was promised to Robert. He launches the rebellion to get her back, and the other kingdoms follow suit…as well as the Mad King’s burning of people using wildfire. Robert killed Rhaegar in battle but was too late in saving Lyanna.

Definitely would imo. Most believe it’s the original sword of the last hero that was used in the battle for the “dawn”. And/or that it came from an old dragon lord practice that predates the Valyrian steel. Has a lot of the same properties besides color

I'm sure most (if not all) of the brothers who voted for Jon to be Lord Commander were not present for the mutiny. Also, the perspective of the mutineers in the show is more based on racism and fear. I think it makes sense for many of the older members to be the ones who betray him as they have had to fight with the wildlings the longest. The issue is that they're still clinging to an age-old conflict and it seems like negotiations or conversation are the last things on the minds of either side. The books give this arc more nuance as Jon still does what he thinks is right by letting the wildlings through, but he attempts to go south to fight the Boltons. In doing so, he is actively weakening them while also involving himself and others in a war for personal reasons. I'm sure many of the brothers have living family members/lovers that they can never see again and now Jon can suddenly break this tradition AND weaken the Night's Watch?

Ser Arthur Dayne was viewed by many as the living picture of the "knight in shining armor," as in he was the most chivalrous knight in Westeros. I'm sure that both Ned and Howland would not want other people to know that they killed him "dishonorably" by backstabbing him.

Arthur Dayne was called “the Sword of the Morning” because of his Valyrian Steel Sword ‘Dawn’. GRRM has said before without Dawn he would’ve been on Barristan Selmy’s level (still goated), but with it nobody was his equal. So he wasn’t a dual-wielder like the show sad, although he did look sick. Also Ned in that scene was played by the same guy who plays Elrond in ROP.

Dawn is not Valyrian Steel. It was made from meteor metal and is described as pale as milk glass. Whereas Valyrian Steel is created in a process that was lost with Valyria. Although the process is thought to include blood magic and requires dragon fire. It is also described as a very dark smoky color.

Ser Gerold Hightower was Lord Commander of the Kingsguard for the mad king. In the books he dies here with Ser Arthur Dayne. There were 3 Kingsguard there in the books so I am not sure if this is him or not in the tv show. But if it is we finally get to see a Hightower in GOT.

I really dislike the story arc for Arya in the show. In the books her Braavos storyline is so much better in my opinion. And the show also changed what Ned told Bran about Arthur Dayne. In the books Ned tells Bran that Arthur Dayne would have killed him if it wasn’t for Howland Reed. But we never hear in the books what Howland Reed did to save Ned in that situation. It is one of the things the book fans are waiting to learn more about. 📚

another fantastic episode.. season 6 just cooks im sorry. watching this season live the hype was so real. i think people became overly critical of season 6 only after the show had ended and they were upset and traced the downfall back to the season that grrm wasnt as involed & the book canon had died.. but in the moment that season 6 was airing, i just remember ppl being so stoked. this season is great television. and as someone that still hasnt read the books, season 6 is PEAK GOT for me.. i have the books and i will read them soon but i also really dont think it will alter my opinion of the show.. i am fully capable of keeping them separate, as they (grrm & D&D) said we should.

Please go ahead and name 50 characters in television history that are better than Jon snow…in my opinion, what makes Jon such a great character and the best imo is that he’s morally so good and just. Kit Harrington himself has that he struggled to play Jon for a while because of pure and heroic he is, almost humanely perfect, without any flaws, simply a man that just wants to help people and do what’s right. He’s great in the show and he’s great in the books, I think GRRM has a lot planned for Jon that will further solidify his place in the “hall of fame” of tv characters. Characters that I think come close are honestly Ned and Harry Potter

I don't think Ned really went around and boasted that he killed Sir Arthur Dayne. People probably asked him how Sir Arthur died and he simply said "I killed him" in typical Ned fashion (man of few words). He's not lying at the end of the day, and the story was probably exaggerated as it passed from one person to the next.

He did. He flips a table to try and protect Robb and practically knocks a Frey out with a leg of mutton while trying to run to his sword belt. He gets shot in the back by one of the “musicians” and when he falls they behead him. Absolutely ruthless, it’s no wonder Cat became Lady Stoneheart 😢

Fuck Olly! It’s sad his life took this turn but he’s old enough to know that it’s wrong to murder someone and that there are consequences for killing people. He’s also a Northerner, who would have been raised to respect the importance of oaths and keeping your vows. He made a conscious decision to lure Jon into a trap and then plunge a knife into his heart, and had to face the consequences. He won’t be missed.

He is just a boring character to be honest, his character really goes down the drain and all he just says the same thing 24/7. There is literally nothing special about his character at all. Generic characer that is easily forgettable. Characters like Tyrion, Oberyn and Tywin are good characters.

Jon would have been top 5 character in the show if SPOILERS BELOW They didn’t ruin him by making his entire storyline moot in the end. He was destined for things that was long awaited and then at the end of it all he is sent back to the nights watch. Just so goddamn dumb. Also his dialogue in seasons 7 and 8 severely bring him down. By the end of the show he’s maybe around top 10, there are other better characters who weren’t ruined like Tywin and Theon

I mean I only felt a tiny bit bad for Olly. I just feel like he should have taken into account that Jon wouldn’t have done anything to intentionally hurt him. In fairness, the Sword of the Morning was more skilled than Barristan the Bold (iirc). He was the most skilled out of all the kingsguard knights. There's no way Ned could've truly defeated him in the 1v1 with it being believable. Ned was losing to Jaime in season 1 after all. I think he was ashamed of how he won the fight, which is why he never talked about it to his kids.
