So pretty much how it works for the thirds years is that every school year has 2 tournaments one in the fall (the one we are in now) and one in the spring closer to the end of the school year, because of this most teams third years don't stay for the second tournament in order to focus on studies and entrance exams so unless your a really good player like Oikawa or Ushiwaka (the under 19 guy) who may have a scholarship to continue volleyball in college, most third years call it quits after the first tournament. Just an FYI only Asahi, Sugawara, Daichi and Kiyoko (the manager) are 3rd years Tanaka is a second year he's in the same class as Noya.

THIS! This is what I imagined would happen if the geks watched Haikyuu. I love how hyped they are. I wish all the haters and non-believers would see this lmao. I can't wait for the next match. I'm glad that y'all let the show cook. Because as you see tournaments are pretty quick and they set up the 'lore' and other teams so well. UGH I wish I could watch this show for the first time again. By the end of season one you're gonna feel like you're the ones who are playing and winning or losing.

Jack is right in a sense, without Hinata being as quick, agile and insane stamina to jump around so much to throw off the blockers, Kageyamas sets would be for nothing. The same thing can be said for Hinata. Without Kageyamas accurate pin point and fast tosses, Hinata working as a decoy would all be for nothing as well since he doesn’t have the skills or power to spike through or fake out blockers on his own. They are a duo that brings out the best in each others game plays

regarding Jack talking about serves: in high school, jump serves, especially top spin jump serves (as opposed to jump float), aren't very common. Not only are they difficult at that level with the height required, but they also need to reach ~50mph in order to be considered an effective serving option. It also typically has a higher fault rate, and probably just shouldn't be used by players at the high school level who aren't tall, powerful hitters, who have practiced the shit out of it. So the number of Karasuno players who don't do jump serves is probably pretty realistic.

The thing with Nishinoya's block follows is, that is insanely hard to do and very rare. Blocked balls reach a speed of over 100 km/h(62 mph), over a really short distance. Also no, Aoba Johsai is not the first seed, but they are top 4, so they also get a buy.

It’s better for hinata to suck in the beginning. That’s why I like this show. They could’ve easily went the OP MC route and made him amazing at anything. But haikyuu is not only about the teams growth, but hinatas also. It’s only been a few months since he came to high school, and he sucked at everything but spikes. You can’t magically get better that quickly. Just stick for the hinatas journey (the teams also) and it’s so rewarding 😄

Before you’re harsh with hinata remember he’s had no formal training in volleyball. He barely had a team nor a coach. Everyone else had played volleyball in their junior years and had years of practice of the basics and hinata didn’t. So he’s going to suck at the basics that’s not spikes because that’s the only thing he’s good at the moment. His development is so rewarding, promise 😂 (sorry I love hinata sm and his development)

eh i would say it’s 90% due to kageyama’s talent to not only maneuver past blockers and read the court that fast but also to accurately deliver the ball to the spiker from anywhere in the court. 5% is hinata’s complete trust in kageyama’s sets and his quick reflex. the show is shedding light on both those who notice that the quick heavily relies on kageyama, and those who think it’s due to hinata, thinking he’s the only one who can manage to hit those quicks (when in reality it’s kageyama literally positioning the ball in hinata’s hands upon impact)

Unless you confuse your neighbors on whether there's an actual game on TV, you're not really enjoying Haikyuu is what I always said. So you must really like this show seeing as my ears are buzzing now. This reaction should come with a warning for earphone users! And as much as I love Hinata and all the attention he's getting, I'm glad that you guys recognise that it's mostly due to Kageyama. But I think, the choice to have everyone, Iwa-chan aside, praise Hinata is deliberate. Especially coming from the Date Tech players and coach. While the Aoba Johsai and Nekoma coaches recognise that the quick attack is mostly due to Kageyama's skills and both their teams have very good setters to say the least, the Date Tech coach failed to see it and that's also reflected in the team's game play. I mean I don't even remember who their setter is as he had little presence. The opponent's game play dictates who on Karasuno's team gets the focus and in what way which makes for some interesting storytelling. (But let's be real, the ones who score get all the attention. It could be worse though, you could be a defender in Blue Lock, iykyk.)

Usually the third years have lower numbers (daichi 1, suga 2, asahi 3), the second years get the middle values (like nishnoya and tanaka), and the first years get the last ones (kageyama, hinata, tsukki, yamagishi). I saw y'all were confused about what year Aone was on Data Ko, as he had the number 7; its safe to assume he would be a second year.

holy shit, seeing brig and jack’s jaws absolutely drop to the floor in sync after noya’s foot save was sooo satisfying!! the screams after match point, the smiles for asahi’s celebration, it’s just too much for my heart 🥹 i’m ngl, i wouldn’t be surprised if we get some tears in future matches muahhahahaha also, i really love asahi calling his teammates heroes after the game because what we saw was the result of excellent teamwork. in volleyball, a lot of coaches will stress that as a player, you should be trying to better the ball everytime you touch it. that’s why noya is sooo clutch here. like he said in ep 10 (iirc), the rally doesn’t end when someone gets blocked or dug, it ends when the ball hits the floor. and noya kept that from happening, giving kags the opportunity to give the ace a nice high ball to swing at and win the match, letting asahi build his confidence against the team who took it away. fuckin love it

Yeah but no one else in Karasuno is fast enough or good enough to keep up with Kageyama’s quick tosses. Which is a downside to Kageyama’s performance, cause how else is he gonna get past the blockers without a decoy like Hinata. Especially when they’re up against a team like Date Tech that are pros at blocking. In my opinion as a player, Hinata shouldn’t even really need to move around that much. He’s wasting a lot of energy but because he does this, it’s the reason why Kageyama has more options as a setter. Hinata is also creating these opportunities for Kageyama and the other hitters to get through the blocks

This is IRL info, it's just for cultural context that doesn't get explained here. This is for volleyball, but usually all third years retire from their club months before graduation. Entrance exam in Japan are super hard, and the students tend to take more clases after school just to prepare for them, so the third years retiring is not that rare. Entrance exams are usually around January - February and the spring tournament start usually at January. Before, this tournament was held in actual spring (around March - April) but it was change so third years that wanted to aim for a recommendation to enter university and have a professional career could also play this tournament and had more exposure (graduations are in April in Japan) but it's still very risky because the student could not get the recommendation they are aiming for and had not study enough for the exam either. Lowkey Kageyama had this problem during Middle school transitioning to High school, he didn't got the recommendation as he was benched due to his king attitude and my boy is not the brightest out there so he failed the entrance exam to Shiratorizawa lol

Surprised that nobody has pointed this out. Hinata being the Sun and Tsukki being the moon, as shown in ep18, it's due to their names. Hinata has the Hi (日) kanji that means Sun (amongst other things) and Tsukishima has the Tsuki (月) kanji that means Moon (also amongst other things lol) This Sun and Moon analogy comes around quite a few times, so it would be good if you guys and anybody that's watching along for the first time remember!

I would recommend looking up all the name meanings for the Karasuno boys! Each name has a huge amount of meaning for the characters and reflects their roles perfectly. The way Hinata/Tsukki and Asahi/Noya's names mirror each others are perfect.

Haikyuu is many anime fans comfort anime ( mine included ) but the hype it gives off during matches and the reactions it receives from watchers/fans is on the same level as big time shonen fights. That’s why it’s the goat of sports anime, it can get anime fans hyped to the max, get them jumping and screaming at the screen for the guys to win ‘just one point’. Give people chills. Just like what sports does in real life. That’s how well directed the episodes are and how well written the story is

Outside of the matches, this show has some insanely good character moments, some of my favorites are from season 3. I can't wait for you guys to get there and to see them. Just to clarify, the third years in Karasuno are only Daichi, Sugawara, Asahi, and Kiyoko(their manager). Tanaka, Nishinoya, and three others on their team are second years. When the third year from Dateko, Moniwa, said that the third years are done after the Interhigh and won't be playing for the Spring Tournament, which is a winter tournament(different season from the Interhigh, which is held in summer), he means that for their team specifically. Most third years choose not to continue playing competitive sports in high school if they aren't thinking of going pro in the future, because they want to focus on their academics, which will get them into a good college after high school. Of course, they can also choose to stay on the team, so just know that it's not a GIVEN that the Karasuno third years are going to retire! Anyways... Haikyuu matches always make me SWEAT buckets. I'm not even doing anything and the nerves are getting to me despite the fact that I KNOW what's going to happen. Also hello the way they all cheered when the animation team upped their game and Asahi appeared to spike???? I love that they're getting so invested in the games. I'm just smiling every time they go "Noooo", especially when Aone(the blocker from Dateko) comes up to the front HAHAHA Look at them screaming when the iron wall was forcibly pushed open!! I never thought that they would be so hyped when I watched their first few reactions. Haikyuu really does catch people's hearts with it's amazing soundtrack, character development and epic hype scenes

Oikawa is funny! He and Iwa-chan is quite an entertaining pair. There are many pairings we've seen so far shown in Haikyu; Hinata/Kageyama, Tsukki/Yamaguchi, Tanaka/Noya also Noya/Asahi, Kenma/Kuro, Kindaichi/Kunimi, Oikawa/Iwaizumi, Aone/Futakuchi. Also, an honorable mention, Ukai's friends/fellow alumni who were from his neighborhood association volleyball club, the guy with the glasses & blond guy, Shimada/Yusuke. All are very well loved pairings and Oikawa/Iwa-chan is one of the my top pairings. They're just so fun to watch! When Iwa-chan complimented Kageyama's setting skills, Oikawa's "Ki..!" and pouts, with his gentle voice is just 😂 He knows it's true and he has admitted Kageyama's excellent skills, a genius level setter but he can't help but reacting negatively to Iwa-chan's praising his ex junior setter lol

The third years can participate in the Spring tournament, but they usually choose not to because that's the time most 3rd years are focused on college entrance exams and getting ready for their future rather than spending everyday practicing for volleyball or other sports / activities. If you don't already know Japanese Middle School goes to 9th grade and their highschool is essentially 10th, 11th, 12th. That's why theres only 3 years of students there.

Feel like Kuroko is the Dragon Ball of sports anime. And you get a power up, and you get a power up....etc . lol Blue lock might over take it though. No saying it bad but might be best of "supernatural" sports anime.Either way gotta love the characters or not worth me watching.

It's on the Home page. But it's now missing from Haikyu folder. Ep 19-20 was missing from the folder since a couple of days ago. Ep 21-22 just gone missing from folder this past 24 hrs I believe. Now 2 eps are not in Haikyu collection folder.
