yippee!

although i do think the quality in writing takes a bit of a dip this season, season seven honestly isn’t that bad. it has quite a few high ratings and for good reason i think!

Kaylee S

peak has returned

Shadow

Blackfrye is a certain bastard line of house Targaryen. The show cut the one character that’s most likely from it

Marcusinmilw

Woo hoo! This is great episode. Hi, Nymeria! Anxiously awaiting your reaction to episode 4!

Bellaa

yea i felt the looks around 5 minutes in. literally like ughh i cant really say it but if yk😵‍💫

Marcusinmilw

Agreed. I don't think it holds up against earlier seasons (particularly 1, 4 and 6) but season 7 has a lot of awesome and epic moments.

Ryan Ry

I've thought about it, and I've had a revelation. I think Lord of the Sus Brig's are starting to get better and better. You can now barely tell the difference between an actual prediction or a fake prediction that he usually does where he goes "oh I bet this and that happens" but then he totally has read the entire GOT lore on IG or tiktok or something. The dudes always on his phone researching GOT.

Thina

Blackfyre is an "extension" of house Targaryen from when a Targaryen king tried to legitimize all his bastards and they ended up trying to usurp the throne a few years after his death. I need HBO to make a spin off about the Blackfyre rebellion so bad 😩

Seth Aasland

Dany and Olenna meeting each other and speaking, albeit very brief, was one of my most anticipated meetings between two characters in this show when i first watched it. The Dragon Queen and the Queen of Thorns 🐉🌹

Niffol

I didn't like the ed sheeran cameo. Especially having him sing. It draws even more attention to him and ruins the immersion. There have been alot of cameos that were more subtle. A new york mets pitcher was cameo'd in S7 or S8? some band was playing as the band during red wedding.

Daenerys Targaryen

I also prefer Daenerys Targaryen over Stormborn. The other nickname I love is what Tyrion called me in the books: "Aegon the Conqueror with Teats."

Shadow

Same. Good thing dunk and egg will give us some context throughout the series

Niffol

Bastard names have nothing to do with who their family is. That's the entire point. So they base the names off the kingdoms. To mark where you came from. What realm were you born in? North = Snow Riverlands = Rivers Iron Islands = Pyke(could be wrong, but thats what i remember. Cotter Pyke a bastard commander at eastwatchh by the sea.) Vale = Stone Crownlands = Waters Stormlands = Storm Dorne = Sand Reach = Flowers Westerlands? I don't know if they have their own... maybe just count them as river/reach men? So Jon Snow should actually be Jon Sand due to being born in Dorne. House Blackfyre is a house founded by a Targaryen bastard. When bastards are legitimized they inverse the colors of their fathers house. So a Targ Red dragon on a blackfield turns into a Black dragon on a red field. The bastard also chose the name as a nod to the sword blackfyre. We may learn more about them in Dunk and Egg show so i would say more.

Jengit

The faces Cannon and Carter made during Missandeis and Grey Worms scene were priceless 😂 they were stressed 😭

JJ

they’re gonna love season 8 too so I want the comments to prepare for that

Seth(Bill) Jones

In season 1 when Ned tells Arya she's going to be a lady and marry a lord she says "that's not me". Her telling Nymeria "that's not you" is a call back to that moment and he acknowledging she's not meant to be a trained or friendly beast.

Zipzzty

W

Niffol

Balerion was big enough to swallow a carriage whole. Imagine those skulls much larger.

Afra

Give us 7x3 already 🥲😭

Bambina

Yeah Nymeria isn’t her as in it’s not in her character to come with Arya anymore. As we saw, she is a pack leader (the other wolves followed her when she left and didn’t attack Arya because Nymeria didn’t). So we can’t expect her to leave her pack for Arya when she hasn’t seen her in years. I think it’s reasonable. And Ghost is probably suffering from budget cuts 🥲

Ray

Geks, "That's not you" is a callback to S1, when Ned sits with Arya and tells her she's gonna marry a lord and have his children and her response was "that's not me". In this case she tells Nymeria come to Winterfell with me and she realizes "that's not you" full circle! (I'll check the S1 episode).

Ray

And 7x04 my favourite S7 Episode 💙

Niffol

Isn't it crazy how much Cannon looks like Grey Worm?

tp

Westerlands is Hill! I don't know if it's as straightforward as which realm you were born in, since Jon is a Snow despite not being born in the North, and Bloodraven and Bittersteel are both Rivers despite their mothers likely giving birth in King's Landing. I think they just go for the realm your known noble parent is from, and in the case of the great bastards, where the mother is from to distinguish between them

Nomaan

Probably gonna get cooked for this but I agree with Olenna about Tyrion😭

Ryan Pebeck

I don't hate season 7 especially when I first watched it. Becoming a book reader makes the later stuff worse but it still has a lot of enjoyability. However, the more I see the greyscale scene I just hate it more and more. I understand that it's a tough and complicated procedure, but I just feel like only peeling skin and applying an ointment is such a dumb way to cure it. The visuals are definitely cool though.

Blackeyedlily

Did you guys pick up on the call back to when Ned grabbed Littlefinger by the throat in Season One, with Jon doing the same thing this episode? The other call back to Season One was when Arya tells Nymeria, “That’s not you.” Ned was telling Arya in Season One that when she grew up she would become a lady of a castle, whose sons could become knights. And Arya told Ned, “That’s not me.” Here Arya was wanting Nymeria to come back to Winterfell with her. But as Nymeria turned and left Arya recognized the fact that Nymeria had become a wild wolf and was no longer that same pet.

mk

*obligatory it is not where you are born but where you are raised comment*

Mitch

I really just hate why Dany doesn’t just fly to kingslanding and burn the red keep thus ending all of this extra stuff. She could literally end the war in a span of a couple hours but nooo we have to go to all these side quests when the real solution is cut and dry. It’s the same exact problem with HOTD. Rhanerya could easily invade KL with all of her dragons and 8 v 1 Vhagar ending the war but instead we have to attack the side enemies for plot. I despise it.

Isaiah

LMAOOO That missandei greyworm scene really was too long that shit was basically a softcore

Niffol

In the books arya wargs into nymeria in her dreams while in braavos. McKay is right about her wolfpack. Bunch of rumors about a giant shewolf leading a massive pack killing lots of people. She also pulls catelyns body out of the river the freys threw her in during one of her warging dreams.

mk

Brig with the huge "i cant see" spoiler

Ryan Ry

He's known as "Lord of the Sus" Brig around these parts.

Bellamy Blake

Some of us aren’t cool with risking the lives of innocents by blowing stuff up.

Dakota

Jon let's Ghost roam, he knows its pointless to try and keep him locked up or whatever. The Dire wolves can't be treated like normal dogs or anything. You let them roam and they come back whenever they feel like it but they're super loyal animals. Hence, the Direwolf being House Stark's sigil. I even have the House Stark SecretLabs chair lol

Mitch

She’s going to take kings landing one way or another. I wonder what would cause less deaths; attacking every single castle and enemy stronghold or attacking on singular building???? Don’t defend an objectively bad decision.

Ismail Chettfour

Bastards are typically named for the kingdom/area they are born in. North: Snow Riverlands: Rivers Vale: Stone Westerlands: Hill Stormlands: Storm Reach: Flowers Dorne: Sand Iron Islands: Pyke Crownlands: Waters Blackfyre was a name given to the Targaryen bastards of King Aegon IV, so the descendants of those bastards are also Blackfyres. Jon is not from that line, so technically, since Jon was born at the Tower of Joy in Dorne, he would be a Sand (like Oberyn’s paramour Ellaria)

Amna 🍉

Carter and Cannon's face during the Greyworm and Missandei scene 💀😭

Amna 🍉

So actually, your bastard name is based on the place you're born. Jon was born in Dorne so it would Jon Sand

Tyler Sick

"That's not you" is a callback to when Ned told Arya she would be a lady and marry a lord someday and Arya said "No, that's not me"

creeper doodle

Season 7 is fine until you couple it with season 8. I have some pretty big complaints about the last several seasons, including season 5 and 6 which people really love (I don't and the BOB is so stupid for various reasons). I, like many others, rode the highs in season 7 heavy, but season 8 made all of the highs of this season feel very bitter. I think that you guys will see flaws in the season, but I don't think you'll think too poorly of it until season 8.

creeper doodle

Of course, even when airing, there are some things in season 7 that are just baffling and stupid. I can't wait for you guys to get to those particular decisions, because they are super wack. We should have all known how this would turn out just seeing some of those things that happen in season 7.

mk

*obligatory it is not where you are born but where you are raised comment*

Charles Hesketh

How does bro keep guessing the guest stars? First Ed Sheeran and now Lebron? I think he’s seen it before

Niffol

"It's not you" its a callback to what she told Ned about being a lady "thats not me" She wants Nymeria to come back, but that's not her anymore. She has her own pack, they still have some bond, but nymeria has moved on.

Ismail Chettfour

Lol what? It’s definitely where you’re born. The excerpt below is taken directly from the lore video narrated by Ellaria. So instead they call the children after the land where they were born: "Flowers" in the Reach and "Hill" in the Westerlands, "Stone" in the Vale and "Storm" in the Stormlands, "Rivers" in the Riverlands and "Waters" in the Crownlands, "Pyke" in the Iron Islands, "Snow" in the North, and in Dorne "Sand".

Niffol

oh yeah those are right. maybe more of like a "what culture you were raised in" type of thing.

Tom Murray

Notice who all the people of power were in Daenerys' war room? All women. Daenerys has probably never felt stronger. So with Arya, her inner thoughts after being ignored by her wolf probably circles around feeling out of place in what she thought was her home. For one, you pointed out she had forgotten the bite of the cold, and she might as well could have been in it for her first time. Granted she had never seen a winter, but cold is still cold. And if she had to be kicked while already down, a wolf just brushed her off. Wolves are the sigil of house Stark, and the fact that a wolf ignored her on her return home might be putting doubts in her head if she really does still belong in the North and if she can ever call it a home. Big symbolism there. inb4 tongue + Grey Worm jokes

jrnoodles

Thank you Geks! This is my second watch and I still thought that Ellaria was a fighter.. She somehow gives that badass women warrior vibe

Ryan Ry

Anyone else notice how the Geks tend to lie to their most loyal Patreons? like when they literally say "Our uncut reactions are on Patreon" on 1:55, and then immediately cuts the video. Very disingenuous. Also looking at you "Lord of the Sus" Brig.

Bellamy Blake

I think you’re oversimplifying the problems. But I’ll stop here before we get into spoiler territory.

Delane Gill

theres no hard rules for it, its usually just based on where the person was raised and in the case of Jon in particular, Ned obviously would have a preference towards snow rather than sand as a surname for him

bateman bookworm

I mean we see in this ep that Tyrions plan falls apart completely, now dany has lost the iron fleet and dorne

Bri-Ana Monique

Excited for them too watch 7x4

JAY

Arya’s behavior in the tavern is mirroring the hound. She is like his little mini me in that scene. The way she’s eating and drinking the ale and sort of hardened and her mannerisms. I think it’s kind of heartwarming to see his influence and the time she spent with him still lives in her 🥹

Bri-Ana Monique

I understand what Sansa has been through, and how it’s shaped her as a character. But I just really don’t like how they wrote her character to act towards her SIBLINGS. Her siblings have been through just as much hell in their own way, she wasn’t the only one that suffered but they wrote her to act like her trauma trumps what her siblings experienced.

I❤️movies&tvshows

This may have been mentioned already if so sorry for the double post. All throughout season 7 and 8 they do reminders of season 1. Arya with Nymeria that’s not me is what she said to Ned in S1 Jon choking Littlefinger the same way Ned choked Little finger in S1 It’s cool seeing the little reminders they put throughout the show.

Amna 🍉

The north's whole thing is "North Remembers", it makes sense why they're not willing to trust a Targaryen. The Mad King also killed Ned's older brother, Brandon, and then demanded the heads of Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark which basically started Robert's rebellion. Not only that, Lyanna died while being in the possession of Targaryens.

Bri-Ana Monique

how about you just cancel your subscription if you feel that way? You’re paying to be negative that’s concerning.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

What happened? I miss watching it 2 days late and making comments no one reads. I'm a creature of habit. 😂

Amna 🍉

Bro Jack had personal beef with that whip

Amna 🍉

Oh wait really? I thought it was based on where they were born....but in Jon's case Ned would've lied anyway bc saying he was born in dorne would've helped people piece some things together

Bellamy Blake

I don’t remember her acting like that? At least not in any clear or definitive way.

Nomaan

D&D hated every female character especially in these last 2 seasons

jrnoodles

Probably doesn't occur to him that an unexpected phone call or some doxxing words said, have to be cut~

Nomaan

It’s like season 1-4 tyrion who outsmarted nearly everyone has just lost his intelligence since he left kings landing

lola

Jon protecting his sister… A MAN IS A MAN!!! 😩

Nomaan

Karlsefni

hate to be that guy commenting about another show but if you’re reading this Carter, ain’t Shippuden supposed to be dropping tomorrow instead of next week? if you go look at the comments on the latest Naruto upload - we’re feening man 😭

r stark

when jon slammed little finger against the wall i was kicking my feet and twirling my hair

Q So Raww

Stormborn is just a title her name is Targaryen

Delane Gill

the issue is that she would need to have a siege to take king's landing, so having the unsullied and dothraki there will give the rest of the realm plenty of time to learn that she was using them to fight her wars like Tyrion explained

Nomaan

Well I think if she just flew there with her 3 dragons and her entire army outside their gates, there really wouldn’t be much of a fight. The city would surrender immediately since Cersei’s army isn’t even at King’s Landing

Daenerys Targaryen

Ugh I know! I don't understand why Got (and now HotD) have such a hard time getting the scale of the dragons correctly. Balerion's skull should be almost twice that size, and dragons like Syrax and Meleys in HotD should be way bigger than they appear. It just takes you out of the immersion a bit when you read the book and it says Balerion could swallow a carriage whole, and then you see this shot where it seems Balerion could just swallow a person of Cersei's size whole. I think this is more of a realistic size of Balerion (where a full grown adult would be the size of one of his teeth - https://www.google.com/imgres?q=true%20size%20of%20Balerion%20the%20black%20dread&imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2F7qMY7IBpl14%2Fmaxresdefault.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fm.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7qMY7IBpl14&docid=ejGwc52Svu_oPM&tbnid=GXf4idvv0jjpKM&vet=12ahUKEwi3sdjV4ayIAxUXpLAFHZppJGkQM3oECDsQAA..i&w=1280&h=720&hcb=2&ved=2ahUKEwi3sdjV4ayIAxUXpLAFHZppJGkQM3oECDsQAA)

r stark

i think they're gonna love some moments (because, lets be honest, the production really is next level) but the geks are too inquisitive to love the whole thing. i don't think they're gonna hate it as much as the comments have prepared them to tho

Daenerys Targaryen

People may get mad, but you're totally right. But unfortunately this just goes back (once again) to the decline in the writing. You just know book Tyrion wouldn't be making dumb plans like this without accounting for Euron's fleet (and don't even get me started on that one line from D&D saying a certain person forgot about the Iron Fleet...iykyk)

Delane Gill

Yeah the bastard surname is basically just there to let people know that they're highborn bastards and which realm they were raised in. And thats a good point about why Ned would've been especially against Sand. If I'm remembering correctly, the general knowledge around Westeros is just that Jon was born during the war and Ned picked him up at some point during the campaign but no specifics on which region

Nomaan

Book Tyrion wouldn’t even be suggesting this plan at all. Everyone loves talking about how different a character is to their book counterparts but seem to ignore how book tyrion couldn’t be more different to show Tyrion. And by this I mean he’s not this peaceful guy, he’s out for revenge and doesn’t care about the people

Delane Gill

There's no hard rules for Bastard naming conventions. Like there isn't a bastard name police going around making sure that each highborn bastard is named after the area where they were born. The parent(s) choose the surname and pretty much most of the time they will just go with the region where they raised them. In a way its like citizenship - if a couple were from the USA but the mother went into surprise labour whilst they're on holiday in France, the baby wouldn't have sole French citizenship lol

Delane Gill

Its like they forgot what kinda show they were making the scene for lmao

lola

When Arya said “that’s not you”, it was a callback to when Ned told Arya she would grow up to be a lady one day in season one and Arya said “that’s not me”. Basically saying both Arya and Nymeria are the type to not follow orders and do what they’re told. They’re fighters/wild.

Delane Gill

Its not really a big brain move to blow up the seat of power and capital city of the throne that you are fighting for. And its not quite as simple as just flying over and only burning down the red keep. What if Cersei gets tipped off and runs/hides away before Dany arrives and without Dany knowing. Then Dany just blows up a castle and still has to continue fighting against Cersei, but now shes made a fool of herself and looks unhinged/overally aggressive to the rest of the realm which strengthens their resolve against her

Mitch

Exactly Norman. Like realistically what would cause more causalities, storming KL with 100k soldiers and 3 dragons, or taking out every major military base that Cersei controls and all her allies. Dany could prob win without shedding a drop of blood if she pulled up on Cersei rn…

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

They actually didn't hate their characters they just had a very sexist view of what a "strong woman" is. Basically a stoic, unemotional, snark machine is their inept idea of a strong female character and "badass" human. They actually favored Sophie and Maisie to a weird degree, and creepily adultified them in this way through their characters.

Delane Gill

tbf Tyrion can't help it that the writers literally just gave Euron cheats by pulling the largest fleet in the realm out of his arse in record time and the ability to locate, sneak up on, and catch a fleet which is in the middle of a giant sea/ocean

Sean Carroll

I’m sorry but no they won’t. Season 7 while terrible has its moments but season 8 is truly incapable of being liked

Ismail Chettfour

First of all, comparing Westerosi naming to real life citizenship is funny. Yeah, you can have two citizenships, but give me one bastard who has two bastard ser names. Also, besides Jon Snow and Nymeria Sand, I can’t recall a single bastard who isn’t named after where they were born. Obara sands lived in old town as a child, but she is still called Sand. King Robert I Baratheon's eldest bastard, born and raised in the Vale, is called Mya Stone, while his bastard born in the stormlands (fathered on a noblewoman from the Reach) is called Edric Storm. Also, both Brynden and Aegor Rivers first grew up in kings landing, but they aren’t called water. I’m not saying it’s set in stone, but that is the typical custom.

Delane Gill

I don't remember any mention of Balerion being able to swallow a carriage whole specifically but yeah that skull was definitely smaller than it should've been. I swear it looked smaller than Vhagar's in HotD lol. The whole scene was kinda silly anyways since they were acting like Ballistae/scorpions were some new invention and testing it by firing at a skull from 10m away isn't really much of a show if its strength

Jaqen H'ghar

Daenerys was born during a horrible storm on Dragonstone. Hence the name "Stormborn". I actually really love the name. c: For the Stannis and Greyscale thing- he had a bit of different influence. He was the brother to the king and didn't just go to the maesters but sought out any and all healers from around the whole world to try to cure Shireen. So he wasn't very conventional about it, such as Jorah is. Jorah also, unfortunately, doesn't have much influence with being a previously exiled man.

Sean Carroll

Exactly the writing is awful, gain your allies after victory, claim the throne now by eliminating Cersei, fighting all the other battles just lends itself to more casualties

Kare

Brigg made a great point by mentioning that the ppl in the north have no idea how big of a threat the white walkers are because they haven’t seen it. So their reactions (+sansa’s) to having Jon go make a lot of sense from their perspective. We’ve seen all of Danny’s arc and root for her so we know that she is being truthful when she says she wants to meet him. But to everyone else shes like the worst person that could ever summon a stark. I think it’s so easy to understand the northerners and Sansa if u just try and see it from their perspective (I.e, knowing literally nothing about Dany)

Nomaan

Wow I can’t believe I’m actually agreeing with Sean for once. The world is healing😭

Sean Carroll

I might be the most controversial person on this Patreon but you genuinely must be the weirdest guy on here

Delane Gill

I honestly don't think 3 young dragons makes it a walk in the park to take the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. Main thing is that Dragons, especially ones that young, are not invincible. We saw Drogon get pretty hurt by a bunch of randos with spears in the fighting pits. Another big thing is that Dany is still vulnerable, just takes a stray arrow and then she's lost the whole war. And before you say she can stay back whilst the other two dragons do everything, although she has a special bond with them, she doesn't have complete remote access to their thoughts and movements, how does she get them to only burn down the red keep and avoid any civilians whilst staying far back and in safety?

Amna 🍉

Honestly the worse thing fans do while watching this show is watch it from one pov. And then it leads to characters getting hated on for no reason and the watchers misunderstanding everything

Nomaan

I hate this season purely cos none of the plans anyone makes really make sense. Daenerys should’ve just gone to King’s landing immediately. She doesn’t need to burn the red keep at all. Just the presence of the 3 dragons that can FLY and BURN and a huge army outside their gates would win the war with no casualties really. And so what if Cersei escapes? It’s not like she can do anything if she does. Run back to casterly rock? Daenerys can handle her in minutes😭

Nomaan

That’s kinda my point like how obvious the writing has declined

Kare

Exactly!! Hence Carter saying that Sansa is making great points but she’s “annoying”… (she’s not lol ur just annoyed that she’s opposing what u want to happen in the show as a viewer)

Amna 🍉

Idk changing sansa's arc for absolutely no good reason is big red flag to me. It felt like they read Sansa from book 1 and just accepted that as THE SANSA for the whole story. And then making Arya the "cold hearted" assassin who's too cool to care about ladylike things....yeaaa not a big fan

JJ

I think r stark might be one that is the closest lol

Amna 🍉

Dany has someone on her side that's better than her army and westeros allies, Varys! He knows all the secrets and passages in KL, why not use that to your advantage and usurp the throne.

Delane Gill

You can cherry pick wiki quotes but I respectfully don't understand what your point is. As you mentioned, and as the wiki mentioned (but you conveniently left out) Bastard surnames are customs not laws. Therefore there's no hard rules for it, as I said from the beginning, and its down to the parents or sometimes the individual themselves which surname they choose and pretty much every time they will go with the place they are raised in. This is a medieval adjacent setting so obviously you won't get many examples of bastards who were born in one region and then raised in a completely different one but as you've pointed out yourself we already have 3 prime examples of it (Jon Snow, Nymeria Sand, and Aegor Rivers) which set the precedent for the custom, especially when you consider that we only know a handful of bastards in the series as a whole lol

Amna 🍉

The best thing you can do is understand the characters from their pov, you just enjoy the characters better. People made the same mistake with Catelyn. They were mad because she trusted Littlefinger and Lysa. From our pov we know they can't be trusted but from Catelyn's pov, that's her childhood friend and younger sister. They haven't done anything to her to be untrustable.

Delane Gill

Dragons aren't some invincible and unkillable war machine. Simply throwing them at a problem and instantly solving it is worse writing than D&D

Ismail Chettfour

I literally said that is typically the custom.. not a law. I’m explaining this to clarify a point of confusion for the geks who were confused on the ruling, so I gave information that would make that clearer. Does telling them all of the exceptions help? No.

Renaldo Allard

In the books yoran is a master martial artist when he traveled the world he learned how to fight from different parts of the world even doorn that’s why he’s a good fighter and was killing so many men even the girls from doorn remember he said he traveled the 14 seas people thought he was site seeing

Delane Gill

Jorah probs felt like Sam was cooking him during that procedure 💀

Daenerys Targaryen

But Sansa IS acting a bit annoying. Two things can be right at the same time. Sansa can be right that Jon shouldn't go to meet Dany based on the Starks' history with the Targaryens, AND Carter can be right that the way Sansa's going about it is annoying (basically yelling at Jon in front of all the lords when he's specifically asked her not to undermine him in public). It's the same thing with how they write show Dany's character sometimes. You understand why she does or says the things she says, but the way they wrote the character makes Dany come off a bit snarky or standoff-ish.

Renaldo Allard

Season 7 is good tho I’m just like Mc Kay I’m remembering certain things as each episode goes by and it’s really not bad idk i really think it’s season 8

brog.

something about specifically tyrion talking about taking casterly rock is so fire. no reply from anyone else they're like damn its like that? your house's ancestral seat?

Delane Gill

Cersei is mental, she wouldn't give up simply because theres some dragons out there. This is the lady who blew up the biggest holy place in the city along with thousands of commoners and nobles. She would probably strap the commonfolk to the red keep and force Dany to burn them all down before giving up

kami

Daenerys had barely arrived and already suffered her first defeat

Nomaan

But that’s the thing. If she flew STRAIGHT to the red keep Cersei would literally have no chance to do anything 😭

Nomaan

I agree completely with the Dany part also. Like when Dany in S3 tells Jorah and Barristan not to question her in front of strangers and the Geks didn’t like the way she said it but are completely with Jon when he tells Sansa not to undermine him in front of everyone else

Kare

I see where ur coming from. But specifically when it comes to Sansa tho it feels like they simply dislike anything she does which makes no sense to me unless they aren’t looking at things from her pov. And I agree w u regarding her speaking up in front of others ( but then again something this huge I would expect Jon to have told her beforehand and not just drop the bomb like that in front of everyone, specially considering he knows how she could react. But then again it’s a show and there’s limited time so I get it, it just feels like such a small thing to get annoyed by as a whole imo)

Jaqen H'ghar

To address the jorah being knocked out thing- I don't believe they had anything like that. Closest thing they have is milk of the poppy and Sam probably did not have access to it since he shouldn't have even been performing any sort of procedure. He probably got what he could. To the Nymeria thing, it was actually a neat, bittersweet callback. Nymeria does end up recognizing her and thus has her pack leave to not attack Arya- so this was technically the reunion. When Arya said "That's not you", it's because she realized that Nymeria is the leader of her own pack and would have no desire to join Arya in the north. Arya had a similar situation where Ned was telling her that she would marry a prince and have little knights and she replied with "No, that's not me." Bittersweet- sad they didn't stick together, but happy that they reunited and had an understanding.

Nomaan

Well no because they’ve just made a singular scorpion so the chances of it taking down all 3 dragons is slim. It’s litch how Visenya got the Vale by flying Vhagar inside their castle walls so easily

Delane Gill

I don't wanna drag this on out of respect for the video that the Geks released the other day so this will be my last one on it. Jon Snow, Nymeria, Aegor etc. are not "exceptions". You can't call them exceptions just because it lines up with your pov. The custom is to name them after where they are raised and theres only one example that we ever get of a Bastard not being named after where they were raised, was Brynden Rivers who was indeed born and raised in Kings Landing but even hes a weird case since he had a close affinity to his Blackwood family and wanted to be called Rivers to respect them, so you could say that he was raised as a Riverman

Ali

That's not me... was Arya's storyline in season 1 when she was being told to be a princess and marry a lord one day. So when Arya asked Nymeria to give up who she was and join her, and she refused... it came full circle with her realizing "that's not you".

Bellamy Blake

It really must be about perspective. Because I was not annoyed by Sansa at all

Delane Gill

I know HotD kinda messed up the perception of distance between dragonstone and kings landing but the two places are supposed to be 400 miles apart. Unless dragons are able to fly at supersonic speeds, it would take Dany a while to reach KL and she would arrive without an army and surrounded by hostile forces who can still kill her since dragons aren't minecraft godmode

Sanji

Honestly so far s7 has not been the dumpster fire people say it is. The writing is not as good but it’s still a great show 8/10 👍

Amna 🍉

Sansa is not even undermining him though, Jon should've actually predicted the backlash from Sansa and the Lords of the North considering what happened with the Mad King and the Starks. The North doesn't forget and forgive easily. I understand that Jon is your goat but he could also handle things better. Let's also remember that white walkers can't cross the wall, there's not a wall stopping Cersei.

Nomaan

That’s a fair point but I’m saying there’s no need to plan to get the Dornish and Tyrell armies. Jsut go to kings landing urself😭 the Dothraki don’t need to stay in kings landing after the city surrenders so everyone’s fears about “foreigners” wouldn’t even matter

Amna 🍉

Why would that even matter considering 3 starks died bc of targaryens in their last rule..

Amna 🍉

Same! And is funny how all the Lords of the North and Lyanna Mormont had an issue with it but obviously sansa is the only annoying one🙄

JJ

the citadel don’t got no milk of the poppy??!!!?

The black Utah

Just to let you guys know that the scales of the dragon In this verse are actually impenetrable to arrows and etc as they get older also the fire of the dragon gets hotter as well so smaller dragon like danys dont have the impenetrable scales like caraxes, meleys etc

Delane Gill

It’s still a bad look though tbf if you’re marching Dothraki into the capital. Rumours will spread and people will start saying that Dany is just a mad Khaleesi looking for conquest. She will have a hard time getting the support of the realm which will really harm her hopes of having peace

Samuel

I think they'll still like it or enjoy it but definitely hate some parts. Season 7 isn't even as bad as people make it be its still pretty good

Sanji

Lebron the Goat, House of James 😭

Nomaan

I mean she already has the support of Dorne and Highgarden. And potentially the North and by extension the Vale. That’s most of the kingdoms allied with her. And once they see she’s not here to murder, they would eventually come to her side also

Kite

Did Jack read the Stormlight Archive? he keeps throwing references 🧐

Nepenthe

Little Finger's character is a perfect reflection of the quality of the show. When the show had amazing writing he cooked in every scene. As the quality of the writing worsens, his character becomes more and more of a meme and more idiotic. His dialogue is now being written by a team that have no idea what to do with his character other than having these stupid scenes of him just standing in shadows smirking or acting like a slimy creep. He's legit like a nickelodeon villain at this point. I'd almost put him at the same level as Ellaria Sand in terms of how ridiculous and stupid his dialogue is.

Kare

Omg no way I could totally see him being a fan 😭 I’m on words of radiance rn didn’t catch anything he said tho lol (don’t tell me if it’s a spoiler)

Jigga Man

Danny should have just went straight to KL. Dragonstone is literally a day or two away. Pull up like Aegon because Cersei has no way to defend against Dragons. Plus if people actually see a dragon do you think they'd even want to stay in KL? I'd be out immediately.

Jigga Man

This is literally blacks vs greens but if greens had no dragons 😂

Kite

he just said Kaladin Stormblessed at the beginning when they were talking about Daenerys being called Stormborn, not a spoiler don't worry 🤐

HNadR

"Lord of the Sus Brig" Hahaha so funny, dude. Now, sit down 🙂🤡

MacJordanT

I’m actually feeling like it might be better than Season 2 of HotD. Both seasons are about a war, but GoT finds a better balance between strategy and action, and more happens in 7 episodes than HotD’s 8

Hannah

Off topic but have y’all seen George post warning fans that the next two seasons of House of The Dragon is going to be trash he’s written “…. And there are larger and more toxic butterflies to come, if House Of The Dragon goes ahead with some of the changes being contemplated for season 3 and 4…” GRRM

TheSauceGuy

Hot Pie sneaks into KL and throws a pie at Cersei with such force that it sends her falling from the nearby balcony that Tommen fell from.

TheSauceGuy

BLACKFYRE MENTION. Lmao, if Jon had a bastard name, it should technically be Sand since he was born in the South. But no, bastard names are based on region and the Targaryens aren't exempt from this. The Blackfyres are their whole own thing.

TheSauceGuy

If any of you nerds want to yap about Got and HotD, I've created a group chat with several other yappers from the community. Anyone can join, but you'd have to DM me Discord info; my username is "the.sauce.guy". There is spoiler talk btw.

Paulo Eduardo

Exactly! They're all making valid points, as the boys also said, but we have to remember that we as viewers know Daenerys, none of the northerners do. So it's a pretty valid concern to not want your king to go visit some dragon queen with a huge army that just arrived in Westeros. Jon is right that this is risk worth taking, but everyone else also make good points in that conversation

TheSauceGuy

"...bring the dawn" could have a much different meaning in the books as opposed to the show. RIP

TheSauceGuy

Yeah, there's a lot of people teleporting this season.

bittersteel

waiting for 8x2

TheSauceGuy

This episode proves that Hot Pie is the most worthy person in Westeros to be King.

Vik Mar

Did u sack off cinema Saturdays?

TheSauceGuy

He doesn't want it 💀

N P

Any chance of One Piece Thursday? 🙏

kaan

If you are enjoying season 7, good for you and keep enjoying it. This is my first rewatch of game of thrones since it aired. I was still locked in before especially first 4 seasons. However, I found myself skipping most of it in last two episodes. Everything except for production feels in much lower quality to me. Anyway, back to expecting the actual peak, one piece, to drop

TheSauceGuy

A bigger question than how Euron found them is how he got all of those ships so quickly.

TheSauceGuy

Geks and Patrons, who do you think has the best character arc so far?

Ray

I saw that, tbh I don't blame the man. We got burned (pun intended) with Got, George has some blame 4 nt finishing the books. You'd think HBO would have learned their lesson and hired people who understood the source material. I think I speak for most fans we let that whole dagger, conqueror dreams recon BS slide but the "toxic butterflies" are multiplying. I see HoTD going down the GoT path, which is sad since HoTD S1 saved the franchise!

TheSauceGuy

The Dawg is definitely one of the best overall character arcs in the show. I'd go with Theon so far though as this episode clearly shows that Reek isn't entirely gone.

Ray

My favourite episode this season 😍 can't wait 🙌🏼

Leo

So far, it's Jon. Bastard of winterfell to King in the North.

TheSauceGuy

I'm not talking about status but rather their character journey. Jon has had a good journey but it hasn't impacted his character much at all.

I❤️movies&tvshows

Also Danerys talking about Viserys being told people are secretly toasting him and cheering him on. This was season 1 episode 1 of Ilryio telling Viserys that.

I❤️movies&tvshows

A lot of the scenes are pretty dark and not well lit in the next two seasons. You may need to make some minor adjustments to not miss something.

Kite

I think they're making a podcast so that's the perfect place to talk about these things

Shadow

Yea this pretty much how I feel on the show to🫡

JJ

the discord is a circlejerk of immature folks, including the mods and admins. I stalked it for awhile, didnt like a lot of what I saw and decided to leave

JJ

(I’m talking about the Gek discord not sauce guy)

Shadow

Also danys dragons being so fkn big in the show helps your point. It’s not like she’s pulling up with the babies from the book😂

Amna 🍉

Idk i think they made bad decisions from the start. Changing Rhaenyra and Alicent’s ages (solely for the purpose of making Alicent a sympathetic character when she never was) changed the entire plot of the show. That’s why none of the ages (the plot included) are making any sense😀 if toddlers cost more to be on the show, why age down viserys and aegon iii. The show erased/postponed all of rhaenyra’s staunch allies, made the smallfolk hail aegon instead of being confused to why he’s being crowned king, went their way to remove ambiguity around her sons’ paternity, made her counsel undermine her. HOTD is based on completed work so is not even about GRRM finishing the books. Ryan & Sara just fumbled the bag when they already had all the content they needed to make a good story. Don't even get me started on how they ruined Daemon and Rhaenys🤦🏽‍♀️

Leo

Tyrion hate in comments 😭😭😭

Leo

Sorry guys, Sansa is really annoying. I don't care what people say, it won't change my opinion about her.

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Fun fact the actor who played hot pie quit acting after game of thrones and became a chef

alexis ♡︎

about jorah, could sam not have just smacked him on the head 😂 it’s funny but i am genuinely asking cus idk how hard it is to knock someone out via force but i’d absolutely prefer to be knocked rather than up and conscious during something like that

Shadow

Tyrions fall off from the first 4 seasons isn’t talked about enough💀😂

Jordan Drake

With nymeria, Arya's "that's not you" line is a callback to season 1. At that time arrya said she wanted to be a knight, but Ned said she would marry a man, be lady of a castle, and have children because thats what lady's do. Arya replied to Ned "no, that's not me". she'd rather be a capable fighter instead of a domestic housewife. Like all the direwolfs to their respective owners, Nymeria is a mirror to allow us to reflect on how far Arya has come. Like Arya, Nymeria's found her own way of survival and has her own pack to look after. She refuses to be a domesticated pet, she's better suited as a fighter in the wild (cersie once called arya a "little animal"). Arya recognized that Nymeria has changed and is on her own journey, just as she once was herself. This poses a few interesting questions: does this mean arya will turn back to kings landing? By saying "that's not you" does she also mean "that's not me either". Does arya fit in at winterfell when she's spent her growing years refusing to be domesticated? if arya does go back to winterfell- like nymeria- will her siblings recognize, understand, and respect her identity as the fighter she is now?

Enma

Genuinely asking, but what would be the reason to lay a siege on King's Landing? Other than to limit the casualties on both sides and turn the people against Cersei, whom the majority of Westeros already hates, I see no point in doing this. Another reason I would think she might lay a siege is to posture herself as more of a liberator rather than a conqueror. In my opinion, she could simply fly over King's Landing with just Drogon as a show of power, and the city would turn against Cersei since they don’t want to be burned alive and with the history of the Targaryens already ruling over Westeros, they might think that their rightful ruler has appeared or something. King's Landing, Cersei, and by extension the Lannisters are already weak; they have no allies, no food, and no money. They also have no adequate defenses against dragons, except for the scorpions. But how many of those do they have, and how much more of your already limited resources do you need to make a few dozen more? Might be a bad take, but I feel like Dany's army, along with Dorne's and Highgarden's army, and only one of her dragons flying above would be enough to force a quick and nearly bloodless surrender. All the other big houses would bend the knee due to her absolute power. She'd gain control over all of Westeros within a month. She might be feared at first, but she would and has the capacity to do the most good in the history of Westeros.

Mysterious Figure

The boys dont really follow their own strict "rules" or "schedule" because they have none of those set for themselves. Thats why people have criticized them before and for good reason. They will probably not change because I think its a mixture of them not being mature enough yet to be as responsible enough, and the fact that its FIVE people you have to schedule to have present at the same time to make recordings to have an exact schedule for. But if this is your job and a primary one, I dont see the issue with the scheduling part of the problem since they have so many subs now they should be able to do it. Thats just my opinion tho so its obviously their channel and their call.

7thdilemma

To be fair to Sansa, if Jon doesn't want her to ask questions in front of his lords then he sort of needs to talk to her before hand so she can ask questions then.

Shadow

They really should be having little stark sibling meetings a lot more

Shadow

The conquerors dream came from grrm. And tbh many already theorized of something similar before it was “added”

Mysterious Figure

Again you disappoint when it comes to Naruto drops. That big drop wasnt worth the following 4 weeks of nothing. You should have dropped Naruto this week. Bad decision.

Mitch

Varys is still the greatest spymaster in the world. Therefore he knows Cersei blew up the sept and killed THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE. Therefore he knows the people of KINGSLANDING DEPSISE HER. Therefore he should know that the people of kingslanding would happily accept just about anyone who isn’t Cersei as their new ruler. Dany could no diff them without consequences and be ruler in a day but oh well.

Mitch

Hound for sure. Jamie is up there too. Theon honorable mention.

Paul Durbin

The whole Nymeria scene pisses me off so much because they completely threw away one of the most epic potential plot lines from the books.

Anthony Rodriguez

wait for aaron rodgert to make a cameo

I read in their youtube community post that The Hobbit is next and is coming here this Saturday

Jessica

The cut to the pie is insane 💀

Sean Carroll

28:47 Cannon's enthusiasm at giving women pleasure was hilarious hahaha

Skyz

If only someone had 3 dragons that could burn a fleet of ships.... Oh wait

Sean Carroll

Very few positives in this episode, I will say that this episode is very middle of the road and is only worse in retrospect as the plans by Daenerys and Tyrion are truly mindbendingly dumb. She shit parts of season 7 are coming very soon Episode rating 5/10 Positives: Arya reuniting with hotpie is a nice scene Arya reuniting with nymeria is a nice scene and the call back to her and Ned’s conversation is well done That’s all the positives

Sean Carroll

Negatives: Dany: she confronts Varys regarding his loyalty to her, he confirms that he does not blindly follow someone and his loyalty is earned. The fact she is antagonising Varys doesn’t make a lot of sense given he was the one who organised her ascendancy and tyrions arrival to her. I also believe he organised her escape from Westeros as a baby but I’m not 100% sure on that, if someone could confirm Next we have Melisandre who somehow managed to make her way to dragonstone, she just left winterfell 2 episodes ago on a horse, how did she manage to sail to dragonstone?? Jon: how did the raven manage to get from dragonstone to winterfell in less than one second? Oh wait I forgot teleportation is now a big part of the story. Also when Davos reads the letter from Tyrion, the man responsible for Davos son mathos death he says “he sounds like a charmer”, why isn’t Davos more furious at the fact they are conversing with the man who killed his son? Kings landing: did they just make a subtle cock joke with Jaime forgetting dickons name? Jaime than gets mad at randyl saying that randyl made an oath to the throne but that was actually an oath to Robert Baratheon many years ago, randyl has made no such oath to Cersei. Dany: yara is absolutely correct, Dany has 3 dragons and an entire army that could easily storm kings landing immediately and eliminate Cersei, the people despite Cersei (apparently) so they would welcome Dany coming in and putting an end to her tyranny, given that euron is not in kings landing currently, an attack against Cersei right now is the opportune moment. Meanwhile Tyrion somehow thinks that an attack against Cersei inherently means tens of thousands of innocents will die? No tyrion that is not the case at all. Why are the dornish and greyjoys returning to dorne? Why didn’t their army come with Dany since Varys and Olenna were all in the same place? The timing surrounding this made no sense anyway but to come to dragonstone and than return to dorne makes no sense, why didn’t they rally their army immediately, this feels extremely forced by dumb and dumber to allow Dany to lose the greyjoys and dorne so that the show “has stakes” and can drag on the conflict which could be dealt with immediately??? The writing is awful regarding Dany and Tyrion’s plan to do nothing. Next Tyrion says that the unsullied will attack caster rock… why?? Casterly rock by sailing is a complete danger as they have to travel south and then west and then north just to make it to casterly rock, do they think that Cersei would just leave those waters unguarded, their is no point in attacking casterly rock. The inconsistency of tyrions plan also doesn’t make sense as he says it’s too risky to attack kings landing now but it’s not risky to allow thousands of unsullied soldiers to die just to take casterly rock which doesn’t seem to play any part in the war anyway… god tyrions stupidity is already starting to show, it’s getting worse than season 6 Tyrion. Olenna tells Dany to be a dragon and get Dany ignores this advice Greyworm: I’d say this is a nice scene for the first half but the clunkiness of the sex scene is a bit cringe. No big issue but still just a personal disliking. I’m also jealous of greyworm, missandei is so hot. Sam: i hate this scene and the scene in the next episode but I can’t say why right now in case they haven’t seen episode 3. Jon: Sansa is not keeping her promise by not going against Jon in front of his people. Also do all these people just live in winterfell now since they are always there now it seems. Also where is Robyn Arryn? We have lord Royce there so why hasn’t Sansa told him that little finger killed lysa so that she can get little finger out of her life? At this point how is little finger still alive? Little finger has truly become idiotic, why is he coming down to the crypt and telling Jon things he knows will anger Jon? This guys is supposed to be the smartest man in Westeros from a scheming point of view and yet he’s an idiot. Sea battle: how the hell did yaras fleet not see the thousands of eurons ships until they come at the last second? Aren’t they naval experts. How did the sand snake girl take on like 5 soldiers herself? How did Theon survive the freezing water at night time? Overall this episode has minor issues that are just plain stupid. With nothing of consequence happening this episode it is another lacklustre season 7 episode.

derick ako

Yo carter its been three weeks bro, update on Naruto???

Sean Carroll

Nah man if logical actions occur then the show would be finished in two episodes. That would steal us of the peak fiction of season 7 and 8

Delane Gill

You have to bear in mind what knowledge the characters have whilst making these decisions. They don’t know that Euron has left Kings landing, hence why he surprised Yara (which was stupid in of itself). Also the people may hate Cersei but they’ll probably be a lot more reluctant to defect if they’ve got an army of dothraki, unsullied, and dragons outside the gates. The issues with tyrions plans don’t stem from the plans themselves, they stem from shit writing making them get foiled by asspulls like teleporting Euron who also somehow managed to build a mega fleet in record time

Delane Gill

Yeah Jon revealing his decision for the first time in front of all his bannermen without letting his close advisors know beforehand was so dumb

Delane Gill

The thing is, she doesn’t have Dorne and highgarden’s armies with her so if she goes now she just looks like a foreign invader who arrived with a bunch of dothraki and unsullied who have terrible reputations and threatened to burn the city with dragons unless they gave it to her. Even if that’s not her intentions, that’s the information which would spread around. No one would want to pledge fealty to her after hearing that sort of stuff. Even if they don’t support Cersei, they could still go for independence. Like Jon for example, it’s not within his character at all to support a queen with that sort of reputation and even if he agrees to work with her to fight the white walkers, he would not swear the north and vale under her so that would be 2 major kingdoms lost. Then you have all the lords in the westerlands, riverlands, stormlands, and the reach who would also be unhappy with letting Dany rule over them. Although dragons are strong, her dragons are nothing compared to the size and ferocity of Aegon’s and even Aegon lost his second largest dragon during his conquest. So Dany doesn’t have an instant win button from dragons and it would be pretty lazy writing if she did

Leo

I think something happened to Tyrion's brain after he left king's landing. In rewatch, I'm skipping his scenes from season 5.

Jessica

Might be early but there’s an episode in s8 that will be impossible to see with the lights so bright McKay u know what episode 😭 you need to have it a little darker and/or increase brightness from the tv

I❤️movies&tvshows

He opened a bakery in London called you know nothing John Dough after season 7 and sold Direwolf bread for $1. It closed after a short run https://london.eater.com/2017/7/27/16050530/game-of-thrones-hot-pie-has-opened-london-bakery

I❤️movies&tvshows

This is one of the frustrations I have with the writing from here on out. There are multiple times Jon should have a chat with his sibling before making decisions or taking certain actions. This is a perfect example. If he had talked to Sansa before the meeting and she knew she would be in charge then she would have been calm during the meeting. She could have been prepared to reassure the people after Jon made his announcement.

Sean Carroll

Expert naval commanders should not be surprised by eurons arrival and it shouldn’t be as sudden as it was. They should have been more prepared

Leo

I deleted it but I didn't spoiled anything I told the same as people say about season 8 🤷

I❤️movies&tvshows

I agree. Ryan Condal deciding he can write a better story than George RR Martin is crazy. I think the success of season 1 made him think he was a better writer. He manipulated the story by changing the ages of the characters and now has painted himself into a corner. His excuse is you can’t have a two year old toddler do x,y and z. In the books these toddlers and 4 year old kids are supposed to be 4,6 and 8. I do think maybe he has changed how one important character died and he wanted a certain age to be the excuse to offset the fans criticism.

Jessica

I know but let’s wait until those episodes come 🫶🏼

I❤️movies&tvshows

Olenna told her that in this episode. She said you have a very clever hand then went on to say she has outlived clever men by ignoring them! Don’t be a sheep be a dragon. Olenna Tyrell was once betrothed to a Targaryen and he broke it off with her.

I❤️movies&tvshows

Even Martin was upset that he gave Sansa to the Boltons. Now they have him lurking everywhere. At least he found out very quickly that he couldn’t play his games with John. That was satisfying at least.

Delane Gill

Yup that’s what I meant by Euron surprising yara having problems in of itself. The writers gave Euron a terrible character and then a bunch of hacks in conjuring a fleet in a short amount of time and being able to locate and ambush Dany’s allies just so Dany can take an L

I❤️movies&tvshows

Exactly. The war wasn’t in Dorne. So how could Ned come back with a baby named Sand when he was fighting in other places. It probably is inconsequential just another writing mishap.

Becca

Dude chill these guys are watching the show for the first time we don’t need this can u not go write it on a Reddit or something

Sean Carroll

Is this the first time you’ve seen my comments, this is what I do, everyone knows by now.

Tokyo Ghoul Supremacist

Cmon dude, you gotta try harder than this Dany antagonizing Varys makes perfect sense. Why would she know the same things we do about Varys? Bro forgot how TV shows worked. Criticisms about teleporting are kinda asinine. Time obviously passes between those scenes. Why would Davos waste time being mad about it? He sees the bigger picture, why would he possibly get mad when he knows the stakes? It’s pretty obvious that they didn’t see Euron’s fleet because of the fog. It’s a little dumb but it’s not the worst explanation. Overall I rate your criticisms this episode 5/10. Not the best work

Jenny D

Great reactions! I'm excited for the next episode. I get Brig and Carters frustration with Sansa. I feel like she and Jon need to have a meeting before these big meetings and come together as a united front. I'm not saying she has to agree with everything he says or not have an opinion, but the lords and ladies are already unsettled. And them on opposing sides makes it more difficult. I was glad that Sam helped Jorah. The meeting with Dany, Olenna, Yara, and Elia was great. Love the female power there. It's a shame it's so short lived after Euron crashes the party. I get what Varys is saying. He's for the people and Dany as long as their goals align. I like that he was honest with her in that. I will say that the timeliness get a bit skewed in these last two seasons. I do feel like they could do some shifts better, but I think you get the gist that most scenes are days later. You just have to suspend some belief as it is fantasy and they have a lot of characters they are following.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

For me it's that, but also why would Arya even remember saying that to her dad? It wasn't their last conversation and more of a knee jerk response. All these "call backs" don't pay off within the story imo, they're literally only call backs for the audience to be like "remember when ..." The show is till good because we mentioned when it was lol. And yeah if you're going to axe LS then just axe Nymeria altogether as well. I haven't seen one reaction remember Arya said that, everyone rushed to the comments to tell them, but I bet didn't remember on their first watch either. The "that's not me" thing is also supposed to pay off so incredibly different in the books.

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Well you know D² can't write compelling subtext and dialogue for squat, so they opted for manufactured weight & intensity through a "chaotic" scene. If a bunch of people are just going back and forth and arguing then it's compelling, right?

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Well she was kind of whining ... It was giving "you're spoiling everything!" Not a great call back if they want the audience to see her now as a valid player.

Kale

But will the guys watch the new Arcane Season 2 Trailer?👀👀😭

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Arya saying "That's not you" to her direwolf Nymeria was a callback to when Ned Stark told Arya she would be a lady in her lord's castle and Arya responded "No, that's not me!". So when she said it to Nymeria she was accepting that her wolf now ran wild as head of her own pack and was no longer a pet wolf that could come back to Winterfell with her.

Paul Durbin

I have seen this show numerous times, and never once thought of that one time Arya said, "that's not me," in connection with her now saying "that's not you," here. That's crazy. That's a big stretch for a callback, but I guess what you said makes sense. Nothing else fucking does lol. Yeah there is no real purpose to even have this Nymeria scene. It's just cheap and temporary fan service. It's seems there's two reasons to bail on the Nymeria plot. 1. Doesn't fit the CGI budget 2. Sloppy and/or rushed writing couldn't fit it in

Sean Carroll

Antagonising Varys does absolutely nothing for her except put risk at him going against her. Teleportation criticisms are valid if they don’t make sense relative to another scene. A raven makes it all the way from dragonstone to winterfell at the same time it takes for Sam to meet Jorah and decide to cure him????? A raven from that distance should take days, maybe a week to reach Jon but the show makes us believe Sam tried to cure Jorah the next day. Teleportation criticisms are valid. Davos doesn’t have to be furious about it but there is absolutely no mention of it at all, I bet dumb and dumber were banking on the majority of the audience to forget about Mathos, he doesn’t even bring up the fact that Tyrion killed his son and instead calls Tyrion a Charmer No fog should stop expert naval commanders from seeing thousands of ships arriving. The average man couldn’t tell but men who have been on sea their entire lives should know what is coming on all sides, 1000 ships don’t just sneak up on you.

Paul Durbin

After I read the books way back, the only thing I wanted was for Jon to warg into a dragon. I figured, no matter what happens, if at least that one thing happens, I would be a happy man. Jon and Arya having their wolf dreams and emerging warging abilities completely cut from the series pisses me off so much.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

She does have Dorne and Highgarden with her though. She made the point that it would be those armies that would be laying siege to King's Landing. And Lord Randyl Tarly was a Targaryen loyalist who would definitely backed Dany (until D&D decided to run a truck through Westeros history and lore!).

Sean Carroll

It was always a fantasy show and yet previously time worked correctly, that is no excuse for the shocking time skipping going on

Sean Carroll

Carter: it’s going to take Jon so long to get to Dany No Carter, have you forgot of a magical thing called teleportation

Sean Carroll

They made a poll and let the people decide, blame the people, not the geks

Sean Carroll

Nah cannon, sam curing jorah has got to be one of the biggest insults to the audience I’ve ever seen.

Leo

What was their problem? This show was a cultural phenomenon. They can made atleast 10 seasons and earn more money. Why they rushed the show as if there was some deadline to complete the series.

Nanashi

On a third rewatch is obvious how Dany should immediately storm King's Landings. The stakes are too high and you got too much of an upper hand to risk losing now. A siege? Cmon bro just kill the freakin Queen and be done with it

Leo

No, Jon directly warging into dragon don't make any sense to the people who don't know anything about books.

Nanashi

Vary could simply spread any information he wants through King's Landing rn and sway the people to their favor

Jenny D

I get what you're saying, but sometimes showing all that travel time can get tedious and doesn't move the story forward.

Leo

I think one of the biggest problem about season 7 is teleportation apart from writing.

Nanashi

I remember when I used to gasp and how good some of the dialogue was in the very early seasons, now it just seems like they're trying too hard and failing everytime

Nanashi

I always think about if they wouldn't just wake up from the pain

Nanashi

Definitely needs more transparency and communication

studiogek

Its not going to be literally every saturday 😂 Just going to be doing a lot of movie series and when they start they will be every saturday. The Hobbit is coming tomorrow

Not really....why is jon not talking to his advisors before announcing such big decisions 🤷🏽‍♀️ and is the fact that everyone in the room opposed it. If he had talked to sansa beforehand she would've been more calm and actually support him against the opposing lords.

Euphemia Isobel

The comments are are full blown spoiling now, when you give hindsight frustrations of plot direction you’re revealing its conclusion

Nomaan

Just wanna say y’all are so real for making a Mother of Dragons tee for merch🔥 that’s my Queennn. Just bought!!

Anna

Snarky hindsight comments like this are kinda spoilery

Tokyo Ghoul Supremacist

She’s not antagonizing Varys, she’s establishing his loyalties. It’s a completely logical step to take when dealing with someone like Varys. The issue here is that this conversation should have happened in season 5 or 6 when they first met. But this is a necessary convo. I don’t think these storylines take place over the same timeframe. More time passes in Winterfell than in Oldtown this episode. That’s how I always interpreted it at least. It’s a pretty negligible criticism either way Davos bringing up Mathos would be unnecessary and clunky. There’s no character or story reason for a line of dialogue like that. Tyrion isn’t there. Why would Davos mention him. For the audience? Yeah, true. It’s a weird scene. I’m just saying that the show makes a semi-decent effort to justify it.

Kale

That’s actually hella fair and a good choice, I’m honestly amazed at how much they lowkey spoiled in just 2 teaser trailers 😭😭 but y’all are better than me I clicked on it instantly when I saw it came out 🫣

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Wow yeah maybe they originally planned to expand a little but once set on ending the show in 13 eps they squeaked this little part out for fan service because fan service is character development 🙂

Chuck Norris

I didnt realize the first time i watched but the maester with Sam is Professor Slughorn from Harry Potter

Sean Carroll

The geks have already referred to teleportation this season, I’ve heard jack and McKay mention it a few times so I believe I’m within the bounds of what I can say

Sean Carroll

Thats what got prided itself on. It becomes clear now that they don’t care about character development all they care about is getting the story completed as fast as possible

Scinaps

Can't wait for 7x3 👌

Becca

I understand ur passionate and it’s not just you in the comments I just feel as though if I were watching it for the first time and then read all this after the episodes I wouldn’t have enjoyed the show as much, just personal opinion I think it’s better if new watchers get to experience the season as a whole and then go read this stuff if they wanted to unpack more, otherwise u just subconsciously tend to gain a dislike for the season before u can form ur own opinions, that being said it’s the guys choice if they chose to read ur comments.

Christopher

Arya always said “that’s not me” when she was told she needed to become a lady. Nymeria recognizes Arya and spares her but doesn’t go with her because she isn’t a pet anymore, she’s a wild Direwolf. “That’s not you” is Arya admitting Nymeria is a free wild animal now. Arya and Nymeria mirror one another. Much like many of the direwolfs mirror their owners.

Christopher

Drunk himself into a stupor and banged his head off the crate too many times on the way to Essos. Dude makes very little sense since he left Westeros lol

Amna 🍉

If anything, that scene between jon and littlefinger proved that jon wouldn't have accepted his help lol

Sanji

Episode cooked but ngl some of the lines (or line delivery) felt straight out of Disney Channel 😭

Sanji

I’m sorry the dialogue is just so cringy rn 😭 “Gulp- he’s right behind me” type ass dialogues 😭

Sanji

It’s like there’s so many cool moments and then they just say some lines that throw me off. Is it just me? I feel like the lines are significantly worse than s1-6

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Was just watching glidus pisstakes 🤣🤣🤣 But just to say something positive, Cannon (et al), if you've been loving the soundtrack so far, I kinda forgot Ramin continues to outdo himself‼️🤩‼️

Sean Carroll

Take a shot every time Jon says “we need allies” Davos saying Tyrion is a charmer when Tyrion killed his son Yes the dialogue is a lot worse

Bellamy Blake

😭 Jon was mad that he even had to breathe the same air as him. There’s a difference between allying with wildlings who are very straightforward Vs allying with creepy wishy washy Littlefinger.

Sean Carroll

It’s funny how the geks recognise little fingers drop but not Tyrion. Maybe their love for Tyrion blinds them to his mistakes? Or maybe they just haven’t been as bad as they will become.

Sean Carroll

They have said to me multiple times that I am well within my right to make these comments and it doesn’t personally affect them. If they would affect you then that’s a thing you need to deal with.

Sean Carroll

Take a shot every time Jon says “we need allies”

Scinaps

The Geks should definitely check out Glidus videos in their own time once they finished GOT.

Scinaps

The "foreign invasion" line was just as bad as "you want a good girl but you need..."

1999

Bruh Littlefinger got a debuff to his intelligence stat

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

I agree, it seems like most don't. I also like In Deep Geek, but some don't like his voice lol And I'm realizing some of these vids might make it seem like THESE are why critics exist, but they're just compilations of the standing critiques of the show, and discussions on book theories, with authentic takes of their own. I found and liked them BECAUSE they include all the things I already thought and then some!

Ash

Can you guys please watch korra 🥹🥹

Shadow

In deep geek is great but I can see the voice turning people off. I like it 😂 he’s great for lotr lore to. So many great ASOIAF YouTubes tho

Lady Stoneheart (UnCat)

Glidus/glimbus are literally my fav yt channels of all time lol perfect mix of ironic humor, passionate feels, and obsessive hyperfocus for me.

Leo

Obviously their love for Tyrion blinded them

Bri-Ana Monique

Off topic, but is anybody else excited for them to drop the hobbit tomorrow?! 😍😍

NoneOfYourBeeswax

I can't get excited over The Hobbit' it's an interminably dull cashgrab; a children's book stretched into a three-movie CGI-heavy monstrosity trading on the success of LotR but with none of the magic of the earlier trilogy. But I'll be interested in seeing what the Gekkies make of this monstrosity.

Jaqen H'ghar

@alexis You could be risking head trauma with no way to help them out other than rest. You wouldn't want to concuss or put someone into a coma or accidentally kill them while you're trying to cure them

Jaqen H'ghar

@Matheus Probably pass out from the pain more like, lol. I wouldn't like to know though

Enma

(Slight spoilers, as this sort of alludes to the ending of the series.) This is why it was crucial for Dany to stay in Meereen and continue freeing the slave cities, which I mentioned on my 6x10 post. This move is pretty much just stat padding, and of course freeing slaves, liberating the oppressed and making a more equitable and better place for everyone. While she is doing this, Varys and the priestesses of the Lord of Light could spread her story and garner the support of the common people of Westeros. So by the time she landed, she would at least have some support and recognition other than the propaganda given by Cersei. After arriving, just do what I originally posted and ggs. The most difficult task would be to unite all 7 kingdoms under 1 ruler. Jon has already declared the North as an independent country, so the best thing that Dany could do to unite every kingdom and stop them from seceding is to build alliances, use the common people's support, and use fear as a last option. (I'm sure there are other better and smarter ways that I'm not thinking of). Honestly, the white walkers are the best thing that could've happened for Dany. She has a massive army, she's allied with 2 other major kingdoms who also have big armies as well as plenty of resources. And to top it all off, she has 3 fire breathing dragons. But the best thing she could do is to leverage all of that in the fight against the white walkers. Use it as a way to unite the entire continent into one kingdom. Robert Baratheon said it best, "ONE army, a real army, united behind ONE leader with ONE purpose." After all of this over, she would be seen as the savior of Westeros.

safaricat

When she said "that's not you" it's a call back to when Arya said that to Ned and Gendry and others . Every time they talked about her wearing dresses, or being a lady, or marrying someone eventually she said "that's not me." For Nymeria being the pet of a noble is not her, she's out there being a leader and a boss wolf. In that moment Sansa wasn't undermining him. She was voicing her opinion along with the other house heads. She already talked about it in private with him and i guess hoped he'd change his mind but he told her his final answer there. Also the lack of ghost and the lack of dragons is because of budget. The Direwolves and dragons are expensive so they don't often have them in the same episodes especially if there's a lot of battles or fire being thrown around. You guys should really watch some of their behind the episode things afterwards the way they built each scene up is amazing.

Osvaldo

I hate all the names and titles she has. Targaryen alone has more than enough Aura

nanbee

i still stand by what i said daenerys is the princess who is promised

mk

yeah the davos-tyrion interactions are crazy considering their past

Nomaan

Leo why do u ask when u ignored everyone who replied to you about the same thing on a previous episode 😭

jason 𒉭

she fits the description more than anyone else in both the books and the show. anybody who thinks otherwise just glazes jon snow too much or is a hater.

Leo

Nah, in books both fits for it but in show jon fits more than dany. Apart from Dany fans, everyone agrees with jon as PTWP

Leo

@Nomaan, ignored? Probably I might've missed it. Which episode comment section it is?

Shadow

Both Jon and Dany are stripped of many small details and other “prophecy markers” in the show. The show does an all time bad job at working it into and throughout the story to the point it hurts both of these characters. In the books so much of their story will be shaped by it and the hints are way better And just fyi as someone with Jon and Dany as their favorite most tptwp talk makes me actually want to swallow lead. The discourse around it just sucks…

TheSauceGuy

George leans into the prophecy and its meaning way more in the books. He also likes to make prophecies come true in unforeseen ways. In an interview, he referenced how a man was told he would die if he went to a specific castle, so the man spent his whole life avoiding said castle. In the end, the man died outside of a bar, in front of a sign depicting the castle lol. I would take the prophecy with a grain of salt.

TheSauceGuy

i only got spoiled by one thing and it's only because i was looking at League lore

TheSauceGuy

While you aren't wrong, that's part of the challenge and magic of this show. You can have an army marching for a whole season but the events going on during this keep you engaged. It's clear that towards the later seasons, the writers just want the series to be done with.

TheSauceGuy

I mean, your last sentence is the only one that matters. If they want to read it, they can; if they don't, they don't have to.

Jenny D

That's true. I get what you're saying. And you're right. While I liked season 7 they did short change themselves by making it two episodes shorter and rushing the last season.

Kale

Well yeah but like if you know anything about league a lot is already spoiled in it self like Mel’s Mom and like who Viktor is. But like they also revealed like a lot of general plot stuff that’ll be coming that even league people know mostly nothing about 😭

Leo

The writing was so poor. He repeats the same dialogue 😭😭😭

Nomaan

@Shadow agreed😭 I’ve said multiple times I think it’s both. But people who use the show as a gotcha for TPTWP talk in favour of Jon and dismiss Dany really aren’t valid since both characters werent explored properly like they were in the books

Shadow

Yea exactlyyy. Their characters or the prophecy. Like there is so so much more they coulda added or not changed from the books to make all 3 significantly better and more meaningful. I don’t think it makes a clear case for either. And yea Jon and Dany are my prince and princess twp and will both play a role. I fully understand people believing it’s one cuz only grrm knows the truth but it usually just results in tearing the other character down and avoiding markers

jason 𒉭

@leo, in the show more than dany? she literally brought back dragons, without her there is no song of ice and fire . just a song of ice💀 and they showed her in the flashback in HoTD not jon.

Afra

Do you guys think that we will get 7x3 today ?👀

Uros Vesic

Brother, have u watched the show? None of these mf fit any criteria. Edit: tbf I never read books. I am waiting for this fricking guy to finish them, but I guess that is not happening.

Uros Vesic

42:26 its starting

Uros Vesic

Korra gets too much hate. I agree that ATLA is better written show, with better characters but not that much better. There is stuff that is much better done in Korra but ppl love hating it, mostly for the ending.

Uros Vesic

Its not good. Not good at all. There are decent parts, I liked second movie the most. Everything else, forgettable.

Nomaan

Doubt it. I think they’re gonna upload The Hobbit

Caraxes🐐DT

Jon got just as much in the books backing him lol so stop the cap please I mean sure you could say the show but that’s cuz they erased a lot of stuff hinting at it

Nivek

GEEEEKKKSS! GIVE US ANOTHER DROP AND MY LIFE IS YOURS

jblakk

Just gonna put this out there.... when George gave Dan and Dave the keys, his ONE question to see if they were worthy was about Jon. That should be all the proof you need folks about who is more likely the one who is promised.

Joe Mama

Another great reaction boys, thank you!

Joe Mama

The PTWP discourse is so tired. We all know it’s actually Ser Pounce.

Scinaps

I'm ready for the next drop, let's gooooo

Shadow

If only grrms stories or prophecies were that simple. For every “gotcha” one side pulls out there’s another the other can in rebuttal

Marc Davey

what was with carter these last 2 GoT reactions he was so quiet (esp first one) then he tried in 2nd epi but it was like he was zoned out and not himself at all

Scinaps

Probably traumatised from watching Chernobyl 🤣🤣

Bri-Ana Monique

Alright this Colorado game is pissing me off guys, I need The Hobbit 😭🥺

Yerr

Not sure why u had anybody disagree with u. This is the most accurate take on The Hobbit. Absolutely blasphemous to the goat OG trilogy.

Leo

@jason, fyi she is fire and white walkers are ice. Jon is the embodiment of the balance between ice and fire. More likely the song of ice and fire. They showed Dany in HOTD because she has dragons not because she is TPTWP. Director of that episode confirmed that vision is not about TPTWP.

Euphemia Isobel

Will there be a GoT today or is this a 2 episode week?

studiogek

Yeah nvm this file is gigantic so its gonna be a bit longer but its loading😂

Euphemia Isobel

You’re experiencing the “these things are happening way too fast and conveniently” vibe

Raya

What’s with the hate for the dornish women they’re awesome

Raya

Like I get that Ellaria killed Marcella, but to be honest, she wasn’t an important character in the story. It was for revenge for Oberyn and his family and we’ve seen the hound kill plenty of innocent people and you still have love for him so I don’t really get it

Leo

It started from season 5 itself. He was always the same person.

Brehton Zumwalt

It's just cuz their dialogue is corny. The characters are cool in concept, they're just poorly written. Ellaria is a complete rat though lol

Brehton Zumwalt

The "That's not you" line is referencing what she said to Ned when he tried to tell her she would be a noble lady.

Brehton Zumwalt

Also, I recommend this all time, but hopefully winning the Emmy for animation will make it a little more appealing; Blue. Eye. Samurai. Pleeeeeeaaaase 🙏😭😂

Sean Carroll

Because the hound is a very deep interesting character, the entire dorne family is one of the stains on the show in general. We spent lots of time with the hound so got to appreciate him whereas ellaria has always been a bitch with no redeeming qualities

Zess

A lot of them already watched it, not sure the number though.

Euphemia Isobel

Ellaria is just an unlikable character, she's written that way on purpose in season 5

Gost César

"it's not you"..."I'm the problem", I believe that would be her unspoken reasoning. Arya recognizes that she is unrecognizable, she is Arya Stark, but the difficult life she has had since going to King's Landing has transformed her too much, Arya is "unrecognizable", in a way that she no longer belongs there.

Nat Brojeni

I thought it’s because Jon’s mum is from the north ( ice) and his dad was a targaryan ( fire)! Don’t know lol

Cloudy

I NEEEEEED MORREEEEEEEEEE

Koen

please react to game of zones after you guys finished got 😂😂

Jake

Arya tells Nymeria “that’s not you” because she asked her to come back with her to Winterfell, but she has a pack and has grown up on her own in the woods all these years. Arya is relating Nymeria to herself because in season One Ned tells Arya “you’ll be the lady of a castle and have children” (something along those lines) and Arya says “No,that’s not me.” They clearly do have a connection and Nymeria did recognize her. Absolute W of a scene

Jake

Man, I will say though, the pacing of certain things hurts my fuckin feelings

Euphemia Isobel

7 and 8 may be my least favorite seasons but my favorite episode of the show hittin soon 🥳

JJ

who is going to get them to watch the R+L=J video? I’m a little worried if they do watch it though cause last time I saw a reactor watch it, they watched the wrong one. Geks pls consult a fan if you end up deciding to react to the vid!

Domo

Episode 3 today hopefully?

Scinaps

So when did they cut from 3 to 2 a week? Did I miss an announcement?

Leo

It's time for episode 3

Al Boxley

Chill Leo, they will release three episodes per week. Isn’t that what you told me last week bud?

Scinaps

Exactly 3... they released 2 last week. So this week we're due 4...

Al Boxley

Yeah I’m clowning on him because last week he was critical of me for asking for a schedule. I agree, it’s been 2 episodes in 10 days without any heads up lol, I think that’s annoying. Not sure why people aren’t in the comments asking for a schedule. Bad peasants.

Leo

Ohh AI, you hurt by my last week comment? Sorry, bud.

Euphemia Isobel

Squidward fomo meme as an east coaster when the other shows get early day drops 😭

Al Boxley

Wanted to poke Leo some more but you’re always so positive/kind in these comments that it infected me. Appreciate the info, hopefully they do. I’m looking forward to watching with

David J

Alright guys this is getting crazy😂. Where’s EP3?

Daenerys Targaryen

Yes, Carter posted a comment on the Chernobyl drop that GoT is now Tuesday and Thursdays 😢 RIP full time GoT.

Daenerys Targaryen

Carter said GoT drops are now Tuesday and Thursday, so I guess we'll get it today, but I'm sad it's only 2 times a week now.

David J

I wish they would at least drop it earlier in the day it sucks having to wait till midnight

JJ

“once we go full time its gonna be so good!”

Leo

2 episodes a week are good enough if they react to one extra video in that week which is related to GOT.

Mahti

They are quite easily the cringiest and worst written characters in the show paired with bad acting

Elijah

Someone needs to tell second from the left to stfu. With all due disrespect

Paris Hardy

They literally never do. I don’t know why I thought these reactions would be different .

sammy

?? if you guys want to watch the show without there being talking over it why are you watching reactors in the first place… i love hearing what they have to say as it’s happening. it’s the whole point actually. just go watch the actual show if it bothers you enough to comment about it

Anthony Castillo

If yall had a podcast where you read the books and gave your opinions on the chapters I would be so down for that

Suz

The characters are getting dumber cos the writers are getting dumber

Elijah

Lmao its not the talking? I'm all for the talking. I'm more so annoyed at him thinking the wrong thing about guy to his right all the time.

sammy

no need to be disrespectful though…. also cannon’s commentary is my fav🤣 personally
