Scinaps

Let's gooo. 🤣

Ana

Let's goooo yes Dany 🐉 🐉🐉🔥🔥🔥🔥 burn it allllllll. Kings Landing sucked anyway Other then that my favorite part was Arya and the Hound scenes

GB3

Oh boy, here we go

Jeb

God season 8 is unbearable to watch lmao

Nomaan

GUYS dany was just following orders. She executed Order 66!! It wasn’t her fault at all🤧

Max Demian

My favorite season, lets gooo

Harper

You can curse, boys, we’ll understand...

Shadow

If you’re gonna commit war crimes might as well look good doing it

Nikita M

The emojis in the description 🤣

A_Daddy Daichi

Next upload will have 8 🤬

kimwa

it’s my Friday today so i can’t wait to catch up for this episode LMAOO

A_Daddy Daichi

I was just about to watch Haikyu BUT I think I’ll get this one over with first so I can feel happiness later

Icchi

The captions killin me 💀🤣

Scinaps

Lol Carter, it's 2024 and I'm still processing 🤣😅

mk

the main message GRRM wanted to give us all along

Thicc Thanos

More like 🥵🥵🥵 for that Clegussy

Nomaan

The only joy I can take from dany going crazy is she looked TF GOOD doing it 😭

Harper

Controversial opinion: I didn’t think it was so absurd that she burned the city. She was in a series of significant losses and her mental health was starting to decline... (dragons, Jorah, Missandei), it was too much for her. Besides the fact that Kings Landing is a city with ridiculous and unscrupulous, innocent people? Yes, but unscrupulous, I didn’t find it so absurd (we can’t forget how much they applauded and asked for the beheading of Ned Stark, who was someone they didn’t even know). The only bad part of all this was the innocent children who had nothing to do with all this. The whole problem was that they didn’t build this mental collapse of hers, we would need a whole season to build this madness, not two episodes.

Nash

Luckyyy cuz now I’m gonna get frustrated watching this. Was feeling all happy after watching that haikyuu reaction 😖

Ashley K

The caption says it all 😂

Harper

Me in her place and with the mental health she was at that moment, having a dragon in possession, would probably do the same or worse, and I don’t say this with pride... about Tyrion, she should have cut off his head in the first big mistake he made, things only reached this catastrophic point because he refused to allow her to take the city at once in a peaceful way, many people would be saved if everything had happened before.

Seth Aasland

Dany’s face after she says “it doesn’t matter now” has been my face throughout this whole season 🤣🤣🤣

Elle B.

Idk if you’ve picked your next show, but I will once again campaign for Band of Brothers. It is one of HBO’s best series. It’s 10 episodes and excellent overall, no disappointment I promise.

jblakk

I havent finished yalls reaction yet. But a fun fact about Euron killing a dragon is, in the books its kind of forshadowed that he will kill a dragon (or control one) But Book Euron is so much cooler and more competent than show Euron. Hes like Ramsay with magic and on steroids. Anyways, its just funny watching the show with the book in mind, because you can see WHAT GRRM told Dan and Dave, and how they adlibed his notes and tweaked things that result in the same ending, but worse. Also they ruined Jaime, and out of every bad thing in the series thats the ONLY thing I can never forgive. Worst ending to a character arc ever. Not even subverting expectations, its just bad writing.

Ana

@Jessica yes I love their bond so much. And if you think about it the hound didn't have to die. The castle was coming down. The mountain was gonna die anyway. But I guess the hound was the one who wanted to do it.

leah

you guys NEED to see the table read for varys’ death scene. everyone was so pissed (rightfully so) 😭

Alex

The decision for Danny to go mad really isent that crazy. She sacrificed everything in Westeros and they gave her nothing. Her claim of being the true heir to the throne isent even true. She lost 3 of her children, a husband, Jorah, Misandi, and Ser Barriston. The issue is it happened way too fast everyone wanted 10 seasons 10 episodes at least 8 seasons 10 episodes each. It would have been nice to see Daenerys actually be a good rule and conquer but she was just another mad Targaryen in the end.

Harper

With GoT coming to an end you could start reacting to Stranger Things... we have to keep the engagement up there!

Zannen Da

Fucking lol. Wasn’t Aaron Rodgers in this episode?

vally

Yep that's exactly why every single war criminal of him is a 10/10

Seth Aasland

all you need to look at to know how bad this season was, is to just look up “GOT actors reading season 8 script” and look at their faces, their expressions, their body language. these actors, who devoted so much of their lives to these characters, and telling their stories, just to see all of it conclude so poorly. ESPECIALLY JAIME. “i never cared for them, innocent or otherwise” YEAAAAAAHHHHHH?! what was that whole bath scene with Brienne way back in the earlier seasons for then?! ughhhhhhhhh!! this season… something else

Yeshi Tenpa

it was actually worse than i remember

Ryan Ry

Its almost over @Lord of the Sus Brig. You're almost free. You don't have to pretend any more.

A_Daddy Daichi

I really got lucky because I saw the notification but didn’t open my laptop until 2 hours later then this popped up 😂

Seth Aasland

“I love you.” Carter: 😒😑

Dounia Ghodbane

Here it is… the moment they decided to write Dany’s character the way they did is the moment the whole show went from top to flop… honestly the part that sucks the most is that they just stopped caring about the show and decided to wrap things up as fast as they could and didn’t even try to make it the best they could. I know for a fact that whatever ending they would’ve done fans would’ve been disappointed but to make the whole fandom HATE the ending that’s some high level f*cked up. Btw it still hurts to see the ending even years after it so good luck grieving this show it’s going to take a while 😫

GB3

I love how Jaime had all of his character development ruined with a single line of dialogue 😡

Ana

I feel like people pick and choose which Targaryen can actually do Targaryen stuff. Can't hate on Dany and hype Aegon the conqueror. People are mad at Rhaenrya for not burning people. But when Dany does it it's soooo wrong. I don't get it

hollow soul

Shes shown signs of impulsive behaviour thru the whole show and now was pushed over the edge.

ssj4rit

This episode: 2/10 Gek’s reaction to this episode: 9.7/10

Ana

And then they made him fight that joke Euron. Such an unnecessary scene

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

It would be cool to see a video reacting to all the trailers of the shows people are suggesting to watch next and ranking them and decide that way

hollow soul

Fire and blood.

Harper

That’s true, and let’s agree that she didn’t do anything different from what other targaryen MEN did, or do the people think that Aegon The conqueror got Westeros how? Distributing flowers? Maegor the Cruel then, no comments... and they are seen as GOAT. The point is that because she is a woman she becomes more judged, both by the characters themselves, and even by the viewers who watch the show.

creeper doodle

Book Dany would never. And tbh, I also don't think show Dany would. They needed to make her irredeemable, to take any sympathy the audience may feel for her.

Shadow

Man all these characters are so far from their grrm/book counterparts and most are not even close to what they were in early seasons

BreezyBri

Yeah they took out the part I think it was season 4, part of the prophecy of Cersei was she was going to be strangled by her “little”brother. It was part of her hatred towards Tyrion. She thought he was going to kill her but I always believed it was supposed to be Jamie. He was supposed to leave her in the end and they ruined it 😒

Elle B.

Shoutout to the visual effects, hair/makeup, and art direction departments! While every else lacked, they did not.

Lydia

this is 100% the correct order to watch lol

leah

such a hard watch bro the writers just MASSACRED daenerys’s character. seasons 1-6 dany would’ve NEVER done this. all she wanted was peace and freedom for all… my goat dany died after season 6 :/

BreezyBri

When a “male” Targaryen burns people aka Aegon it’s cool but when a female does it, all of a sudden it’s so wrong. Please like anyone is watching this show for the small folk, which by all accounts are just as bad as the highborne. Anyway in my mind Jon and Dany get married and have children, rule together, the end lol

Nomaan

Eh I don’t see Daenerys EVER happily burning hundreds of thousands of civilians and not even showing an ounce of regret after

Icchi

They ain’t gon like this one, way too much common sense 💀

A_Daddy Daichi

That was my issue. It happened too fast. All of S8 made it hard for me to look past that if I’m being honest.

Afra

Ahh here we go 🫣

Jada

The most beautiful episode with some of the best cgi, just for it to be ass is CRAZY; what a script!!

Lorne Argent

Yes as a Dany fan we do ignore this episode and her actions where justified🔥

A_Daddy Daichi

Carter’s goat will live on forever.

Divayth Fyr

guys.. you don't understand human nature. we're all animals when conditions are met. with fire and blood she took the throne. I'm not protecting D. and D. god forbids. and isn't it true even in your continent that the southerners hate the northerners? you were killing each other left and right only 300 years ago.

mk

anybody will get wet when vargo hoat speaks to them (see what i did there?)

Nomaan

I actually couldn’t stop laughing at the lead up to the bells ringing😭😭 like seeing dany just go full crazy is so hilariously dumb 😂

Ana

@Breezybri yes it always annoyed me how they left that part out. I always thought it was gonna be Jaime too because choking is a lover's murder

Ana

@Anaya the dumbest thing in the entire show was that fight 😂😂

Nomaan

Guys Dany killing everyone makes perfect sense! She’s always been the villain killing innocents throughout the show. Weren’t y’all watching 🙄 😭😭

TheSauceGuy

As much as I see wrong with this episode, raping and killing of civilians when pillaging a city were not at all uncommon behaviors. They haven't shown these grim realities as much except among the Dothraki, up until this point. When Stannis was about to take King's Landing, Tyrion mentioned that it would be "your people he would kill, your women he would rape." Whether or not Stannis would condone this would not prevent instances of these things from happening.

ssj4rit

I have a theory at least five comments here will claim the Geks are sexist for not liking this episode.

Shadow

Like that’s totally the themes and messaging grrm is going for with her character 💀😂

Dreamer

I think the show's main focus was the Tygaryens are crazy. The End.

Ana

I don't think the geks are sexist. I think most of the comments are more so for the general audience. Not the Geks themselves

Daenerys Targaryen

I wept when I watched this episode (and the next one of course when I was killed after that entire journey). I was literally in mourning for months when the show ended.

Teri M

LMAO at the angry emotes. I look forward to watching this reaction later

Zahra A

omg….here we are dany get behind me

Shadow

Like this episode the Jamie scene is just disrespectful to his character and fans. Varys and Tyrion some of my favs are dumb and kinda unwatchable

Débora Silva

Drogon needs a little tea or water after all that burning 😂 He had no rest this episode lmao

Yoxxhio

bet jon regrets telling sansa now

Zannen Da

Damn, Carter still with the Ikalgo diss. Smh…

milfnyra mai

dany will always be that girl & an incredible character. idc how badly this show butchered her. seeing people try to justify her burning KL making any sort of sense is insane. the “build up” to her going “mad” that y’all were supposedly seeing, was bad writing lmao. being a book reader & seeing your favorite work being demolished is not for the weak. i stand by daenerys stormborn of house targaryen till the end!!!!

Renek

-1 i belive that danny will go mad even in the books it it will be a tragedy story from her but it will take the last 3 books to flip the switch but sadly the show did it for 2 episodes 2- they removed a big character that wil have some affect on dany going mad ( Aegon/Feagon) and they didn't know how to do it in the show sadly

Nomaan

I love how u speak in first person😭 but yeah one of the most popular female characters in pop culture butchered just like that

Nic_

Daenerys was never my favorite, but I could always respect her as a character (seasons 1-4) As soon as the source material ended, Daenerys's character arc was on a decline, but this episode just completely destroyed her character...I understand the whole thing with her father and her becoming the one thing she always hated and all the stuff about breaking the wheel, but Daenerys would literally never do this, it makes no sense for her character with all the build-up that she has had from season 1 from being sold as a slave and overcoming those odds to the breaker of chains and now just a straight up murderer. And all the Dany fans who try to justify her killing innocent people for no reason just because Cercei killed her friend, and one of her dragons is insane, That just tells me they never understood her character. Even though Jon is my favorite character, I would never justify him doing something like that.

Branflakes

Lol David & Dan ruining ever character before the end of the show is pretty amazing. The hound & Ser Davos pretty much the only ones who make it out of this season with their character not destroyed

jason 𒉭

rip kings landing, if i was emilla i would be so pissed like imagine you go on this journey with your character for 8 seasons just to completely destroy them in a single episode. honestly it would’ve been better if cersei was using the people as hostages and i’m talking about tying them against the red keep to which she would’ve had no choice. but it’s the fact that they all already surrendered so her burning the city full of people hours on end. makes no fucking sense . like when she had that look on her face i thought she was just gonna burn the red keep. emilla clarke how you didn’t get in the ring with dumb and dumber after that episode will forever surprise me.

Sanji

Tbh I don’t like how Ser Davos is this season. He was a wise old man and now he’s just used for comedic relief.

Euphemia Isobel

It would make sense if she flew to the red keep and burned that, burning street by street is just clown show writing

Bellamy Blake

He should regret serving someone who is capable of causing such devastation. If his queen can be triggered into this she was always a problem. Kinda scary that most people can’t see that 😩

Nomaan

Ngl I wholeheartedly agree that Dany would never do this but I don’t think this argument is valid here? Like I’m all for Dany burning and destroying her enemies. But not innocent civilians? And most people hype Aegon cos they don’t know the history of what he did. And tbh no one did anything on the scale of what show Dany did. That being said idec that she did this cos of how dumb it is 😭

Shadow

Dany in the books will not go “mad”. I’m sure she will have some moments in the story to come where she walks a line and some characters may view her as that but that is NOT what grrm created her character for. Her final test will be moving her goal for the throne(and faegon plot) to burning the others which will test and push her limits. But this Dany ending is all D&D. We know quite clearly what came from Grrm and what didn’t

Branflakes

I agree but at least he's just like there... Lol not making any crazy decisions or anything

Daenerys Targaryen

Oh it's really me. I'm not just roleplaying. I AM Daenerys Targaryen, First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men. The Mother of Dragons.

Not today

My gosh, so influenced!!!! I have never seen creators react like this. Mad, Sure, Sad sure. But the whole I don't understand thing said like a hundred times, geesh!!! You say you don't understand but then say you understand how she snapped. What is the problem?????? She wanted to free people, She wanted to be queen. She wanted to be a different kind of ruler. We got to know this for 6 seasons. The last 2 seasons she started taking losses. Then quick succession of dragon, dragon, Jorah, Messandei, her love interest, her crown being threatened. How can you not understand when everything is taken from you, you can snap and do so very quickly. I hate this happened, but I understand!!!!!!!! I along with my co watchers were so sad but not like this is so bad. Great plot twist. Would have been so predictable if she just conquered Cersi and took throne. Also, too hard on Tyrion. I think it was admirable of him to keep trying to save the innocents. He gets way too much hate and I feel like people say it just because others say it (book readers) Just like people hating on season 8. I thought it was fantastic and totally fine if you disagree. But just saying to you don't understand is weird. I really had high hopes with you guys. This makes me sad. This is the only show I have watched with you guys besides HOTD so hopefully there will be more shows besides Anime I can watch and see how it goes without so many negative opinions. You guys should have stayed outside of the comment section.

TheSauceGuy

The way they depict the Golden Company is so awful. I guess just about everything depicted in this episode is awful.

engraved

horrific story aside, the acting in this episode is actually rlly quite good, plus the cinematography is incredibleeeeee. god this could have been something so special if we still had peak writing

Mason09

to think the next episode is worse 😭😭😭

Billie

The fact that “ Go on. They’ll be missing you in the kitchen.” is a meme in my gallery 🤣💀

Camille Makoa

Ohhhhh I just finished ep 4. I refresh and now this is out? I have work to do guyssss

Bellamy Blake

Comments like these show how tyrannical leaders can actually come into power and maintain that blind support. Trying to justify the murder of thousands is so disgusting and pathetic.

jason 𒉭

in a interview matt smith said daemon would’ve been on the dragon with dany💀like… i just know he’s in hell smiling watching her destroy everything😂😂😂

Nomaan

I love this. People say she will go mad cos she’s ruthless or will be in the next book. But u can easily turn around and pick passages of their fav characters (who I won’t name cos I’ll be called a mad Dany stan) doing the same if not worse

Andrea Ortiz

The most justified crash out in history

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Why did it take 3 dragons blowing fire for a solid 30 seconds to destroy a ship in mereen but drogon can literally explode 5 ships per second now

creeper doodle

D&D have openly admitted Daenerys going mad is their own idea. The fact people will still argue that, when they have been on record admitting it is crazy to me.

Nomaan

ok my theory of how this’ll play out in the books is somehow everyone is forced to retreat to Kings Landing from Winterfell once the WW attack. And Dany will either have to, or accidentally, set of the wildfire which may kill some innocents I’m not sure. Just a theory out there

HNadR

I am gonna say, never have I ever seen reactors this honest, man. You guys are goated fr. No cap 🔥

Billie

Ana

@Nomaan I understand what you're saying. It sucks they made her character the villain. But me personally I don't care about the civilians. I love when the characters actually have the guts to do something on this scale.

Shadow

People often forget they are judging characters from ASOIAF by today’s standards and usually not fairly at all for characters they don’t like. I feel like the books better set the stage for what is a “good” ruler and person inside the universe compared to the show. And finding grrms “heros” are pretty easy even if they partake in some of the questionable stuff that happens within the series. Dany is undoubtedly one of his hero’s

Billie

Varys’s arc 🙃😔 him and little finger were so cunning and had amazing scenes in the beginning to the middle of the show but then their end was so …anticlimactic. From varys’s end, you’d think he would’ve made more moves or…SOMETHING

Scinaps

May as well give us 8x6 now 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Daenerys Targaryen

Also, to answer Cannon's question "do Daenerys fans just ignore this episode?" Umm...we try to lol. No, but in all seriousness, we do ignore this because there is no chance in hell this is my character arc. I know people always say "the books are the books and the show is the show" and I get that, but when you stray a character soooo far off from their book counterpart to a point they are unrecognizable, it's hard to take the show canon seriously. Unless George decides to make me go mad with the flip of a switch, there is no universe where I will just slaughter innocent people because "I'm sad and I lost all my friends and my dragons."

TheSauceGuy

Carter, almost NONE of the battles in this show are logical, it's just made even more nonsensical in the later seasons.

Mitch

Brooooo that white horse tho, insane symbolism. I’ll bet none of you even picked up on it. Peak writing 🐐

Billie

Each episode 🤬 in description will just multiply

Andrea Ortiz

Everyone wanted Rhaenys and Rhaenera to crash out over kings landing in hotd but dany is crazy after getting her rule questioned, having her best friend murdered, and 2/3 of her children killed for other people and still being backstabbed by her trusted advisors. Like, its shocking she didn’t crash out earlier. Sure the ending did feel rushed, like they couldve built this up a little longer, but the fall and rebirth of kings landing was needed

Mitch

I mean this in the most disrespectful way possible, you have zero media literacy.

jason 𒉭

no but fr , personally from season 7 none of this is canon to me. my top 5 still remains my top 5 regardless of how many characters they have destroyed after season 6. whenever i do a rewatch i just do 1-6 and call it a day.

creeper doodle

To answer Brigs question, I'm a book purist, but I also loved the show (seasons 1-4). They changed Danys character a lot starting in season 2, but I still loved show Dany. Dany is ruthless when she needs to be, but her strength is in her mercy. She is everything that Targaryens are not. She trapped Viserion and Rhaegal beneath the pyramid in Meereen because Drogon accidently killed a child. She is a champion of the innocent, and even up until episode four of season 8, she would never. I don't think there's any way to justify her sudden turn, even considering the dragons deaths and Missandeis death. The past two seasons she's been cold and entitled, but she refused to take kings landing because of the innocents that would die. Danys entire person has always been against the wanton killing of innocent people. Had she turned Drogon onto the red keep and only the red keep, killing people in the process, I think it'd be easier to swallow. But she instead intentionally killed innocent civilians in the streets. It doesn't even make sense for D&Ds after the episode justification of her actions. There's no justifying it. They fumbled Dany, and wanted to make her a villain, and this was how they chose to do it.

John Doe

This is a very shallow assessment. The issue people have is that the writers completely betrayed her established character in the show and her character in the books, not just “he did it and nobody complained so why can’t she” like you’re arguing.

Kyōjurō Rengoku

So yea Drogon leveled up and got new equipment, fire was low level now he got a laser beam that cuts and makes fortified stone walls explode

Shadow

@creeper frrrrr. It’s not even a question but people will still say it. Just need grrm to give me the real thing🙏

jblakk

Not defending the ending AT ALL...but about the soldiers going feral. Thats actually real. War isnt good and no matter where youre from its likely your soldiers did just this. Rape, killing innocents, etc. US soldiers did it, Japan did it, China did it, Russia did it. The list easily goes on. "There is a beast in every man and it stirs when you put a sword in his hand." - Jorah. This was actually one of GRRMs themes of the book. So for as shitty and ill paced the ending is, that part is actually a fair interpretation of what sacking a city entails. There is no moral way to sacking a kingdom.

Euphemia Isobel

I don't know if you guys noticed but at the start that was Varys trying to kill Daenerys by poisoning her food. Hence the "she wont eat"

Ana

@John Doe Dracarys 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Daenerys Targaryen

There is NO justification for intentionally and without even a shred of "reason" to burn hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. All the innocents in the world are also my children, not just my dragons. I cannot imagine any conceivable scenario where I would be even minutely justified in doing this.

Q So Raww

I love how bro keep saying “this is peak” lmaoo

Scinaps

pale horse/ personification of Death? Or is it meant to look like the white horse Drogo gave her? The stallion that mounts the world?

Alex

i actually think this episode could've been so brilliant if they took their time building this arc for daenerys. the liberator becoming what she always struggled against, the innocent girl becoming a monster driven by grief, it could have been so interesting if done well. the acting, tension, cinematography, everything is there but the writing.

A_Daddy Daichi

It’s okay if they’re this upset over major issues in the last 2 seasons. It is upsetting giving so much time to a story you loved and it turns into garbage at the end. Their reaction was my same reaction but honestly mine was a little worse 😅 The Geks are being honest & that’s what I love about this channel.

Delane Gill

tbf its hard to tell with the pacing but I think that its been over a year and they've grown a decent amount since then

Daenerys Targaryen

Emilia did say that after she read the scripts of season 8, she was in total shock and walked aimlessly around for hours trying to process it. Our poor girl.

jason 𒉭

i could’ve sworn carter said “burn them all” at 1x9 , when ned got beheaded, careful what you wish for bro💀💀💀

zena

honestly the biggest problem is not that she was burning kings landing its when she burnt it. If she was doing it before the bells i feel like its not as bad as doing after they surrendered. with aegon he burnt before they surrendered.

TheSauceGuy

Aegon faced larger amounts of opposition from the other houses, but he still showed mercy to those who surrendered or bent the knee to him. Aegon didn't burn the entire civilian populations of cities because he was upset (he did some shady shit with Dorne though). Aegon was a conqueror, but he still understood the feudal society of Westeros and played a more important role in politics, unlike Daenerys.

Zahra A

to answer your question about how dany stans stand with all this well after all that trauma d&d put me through it just depends on my mood atp ill either say #notmydany and start a 2hours rant about how this goes against every single thing dany has ever fought and stood for and how it makes 0 sense that the same character that locked up 2 of her dragons for months because one of them burned a child would ever consider doing this and go on and on OR i’ll just say yup she burned them all as she should and looked amazing while doing it and the ppl of king’s landing are all rats anyways so i get her!

Roy Koopa

The most awful thing about it is that the Dany hero-to-villain arc could be one of the best in all of fantasy. All the seeds are there. It’s like you can feel George in some of the milestones in these episodes. But they just do is so ATROCIOUSLY, they completely destroy it. Like, it actually makes me angry because they basically have spoiled the future books, and for what? For that garbage.

jason 𒉭

that’s so fucked , no wonder she didn’t want to watch HoTD😒

bateman bookworm

at this point in the show i was genuinely glad dany burned kings landing😭😭 BURN IT ALL IDGAF!! But GOT will always be my goat show i always rewatch the first 4 seasons and i don’t let the ending affect it

Amna 🍉

💯 same with Tywin sacking the city after Robert's rebellion, it was brutal

Zahra A

all this to say they could never make me hate u dany i support this woman’s rights AND her wrongs ☝🏼

zena

1- LMAO i love how much cannon loves Robb 😭. 2- Also I forgot how much jon actually says I dont wun it and yuh ma queen. 3- F*ck jamie (show jamie) I hope Brienne is just happily chilling in the north

bateman bookworm

here comes everyone saying the signs were there…….which they weren’t btw and yall will never convince me otherwise

Ayaulym🇰🇿

Guys it's 2 am here I can't watch it till morning. Is the reaction as bad as I expect? Did they hate it just as we do lmao?

jblakk

Fixing Jaime and fixing Dany's crashout: - Jamie makes it back to Cercei before the sack - He pleads for her to ring the bell, she does not. She states she has a last plan to win. - She has a cache of wildfire - Jamie has to decide between loving cercei or protecting the city AGAIN. - He chooses to kill Cercei and is now a kingslayer and a queenslayer. Honor over love. Something Ned couldnt even do. - Dany doesnt hear the bell. She attacks a building unknowing that there is cache of wildfrie. THAT is what destroys the city. People think dany destroyed it but really it was Cerceis fault. It keeps things grey instead of black and white.

Daenerys Targaryen

I'm so proud of the comments section and all my loyal subjects coming to my defence. Thank you, my children.

Zahra A

keep slaughtering cities queen no one will touch you!

askyeyV

We are finally here, the best GoT episode of all time (well... not even). I dont really have a problem with mad queen arc because I do believe that's her story in the books as well (she's definitely not going to sit the throne) but if they wanted to make the scene there were like dozens of better ideas to actually push her to the limits. Ffs they could've killed rhaegal there and it would make more sense. Same as I have a feeling thats gonna be Cersei and Jaime's ending but much better developed.

TheSauceGuy

In the books, dragon fire doesn't cause structures to randomly explode like it does in the show. Harrenhal was melted down by dragon fire, not blown up. Also, why did wight Viserion's breath not destroy the wall (or pile of bodies) Jon was hiding behind? The answer is plot armor in episode 3 and cool explosions in episode 5.

Amna 🍉

Unpopular opinion but Book Jon has more chance of becoming the Mad King over Book Dany🤷🏽‍♀️ if anything, even Cersei has been heavily foreshadowed to be the Mad Queen. Dany becoming mad is the boring and overrated theory🙄

Mahti

Worst episode in television history

Matthew

Forgot how bad this was. They tried to fit at least 3 seasons of story into 1. I am a Daenerys fan, but they ruined her character, her decent to madness could have been an amazing arc. When Emilia Clarke read the script she said she went for a walk for hours and just cried. She hated the ending, imagine working on a show for so long just to have it end like this.

Nomaan

To answer Brigs question about being a Dany fan after this, yes, you’ve got to think about it like we’ve loved this character for like 8 years. Seeing her grow in power, do all the good stuff in Essos and then help save the world. And they turn around and make her the villain in the last 2 episodes? It’s just not reasonable to completely hate her after this. Definitely don’t agree with what she did tho

GreetswithJudgement

Alexander the Great is the perfect example of a hero with a true madness story. They should have just stole his story, applied it to Dany, and it would have been 1000 percent better. I’m also a huge fan of his. He is muh king.

Amna 🍉

"Whoever wrote that thought he was cooking" D&D 💀💀

John Doe

This is assuming grrm actually releases a book before his elderly obese heart explodes, unfortunately. I hope we do get a real ending from him.

jason 𒉭

book jon has beef with everyone, that’s my GOAT Fr!!!🤣🤣🤣

Zahra A

emilia cooked with her acting tho omg still got chills every single time she was on screen just insane

Amna 🍉

CARTER'S FACE😂💀

Poragami

6th episode come on, finish it and be done with it, we are fed up

Nomaan

For the script she was given, Emilia Clarke really killed this episode. Her acting and being able to portray the emotions and thoughts of Dany was insane. Hurts even more cos she said multiple times the character of Dany saved her life after her aneurysms early on while filming and then they turn around and do this…

Amna 🍉

The Starks married between first cousins. I'm pretty sure Cregan Stark's daughter married her uncle too. Ned's parents were cousins once removed. They're not far from incest relationships lol

Nomaan

I deffo agree with mad queen being Cersei. Anyone who’s read the books can clearly see the parallels George makes between her and the Mad King.

hollow soul

Hey more volleyball please its definetly better than made than game of thrones!

Shadow

Omg I was literally thinking about that video when I was writing my other comment about Dany being one of grrms “hero’s”😂 David lightbringer is the best. ^^ also to any Jon or Dany fans I highly recommend that video.

Jr

I started calling Dany the mad queen during season 5. By end of season 7, I knew she would turn heel. All the signs were there. It’s in her blood. She is the daughter of the mad king. I loved season 8 and how the show ended. I am a huge Cersei fan, so maybe that’s why I liked Dany going mad, so all the Dany fans could cry.

lily p

i would have rather just the night king had won than whatever this is

Matthew

It’s so sad for what could’ve been. And sad for Emilia.

Amna 🍉

He's such a hater, I LOVE IT😂 if he wasn't Ned's bastard son, trust him and Cat would be besties hating on everyone

creeper doodle

He's probably my favorite! A lot of my pro Dany channels really hate Jon lol and vise versa! He's very fair to both characters, and understands them the way that I understand them.

A_Daddy Daichi

Yesss cannon! Kings landing first then the white walkers last. I personally feel that’s how it should’ve been.

Katie Thomas

Despite the flaws in the episode, I think it’s one of the most visually stunning episodes in the series. The cinematography, color grading, editing and even the music are so freakin good. It’s also a running theme in GOT reactions, at this point, to see people confused as to why/how cities get sacked

DC

When the actor for varys read his death scene at the table read he was visibly upset at the terrible writing

Daenerys Targaryen

I'm trying to find the exact interview where she said that, but this video is also pretty funny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oxB8YdAY-Y Also, I was so sad when she said she couldn't bring herself to watch HotD. Just wish she could've seen the Targaryens being done right.

Shadow

Yup I agree!!! And as a Jon and Dany Stan I love that he is fair to both and a big fan of both. But he for sure has some of the best Dany content out there.

Amna 🍉

The white walkers will always be a bigger problem than the throne, and that's where the books are leading up to as well. D&D fumbled with making the throne a bigger problem

Aaronm

Jamie stabbed the mad king in the back and "dishonoured" himself for the rest of his life because he cared about the innocent. It's crazy how big a shit they took on his arc.

A_Daddy Daichi

Alright, onto Haikyu 👋🏾

Daenerys Targaryen

Geks, please watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oxB8YdAY-Y

Jr

I’m not your subject! Queen Cersei is my queen! Long may she reign!

Amna 🍉

I will NEVER understand Tyrion having all this trust in Cersei doing the right thing. Like dude, you would've been dead bc of her if Jaime wasn't a good enough human being to save you.

Renek

i meant the last 2 that he didn't finshed not 3 sorry

Daniella

I have to stand 10 toes behind my queen let them burn!!! no but seriously as a Dany stan this was disappointing to say the least...I actually would have been fine with her going mad queen BUT everything was rushed. It's just sad the way they handled such an iconic character. I can't imagine how Emilia Clarke felt 🫠

creeper doodle

She's his favorite character (she's also mine lol). I love Dany and Jon both, and the idea that they should ever be pitted against one another is crazy to me. They're literally destined to come together. I think they'll fall in love, but I'm a romantic at heart, but even if they don't, they're destined to be at each other's sides.

Jr

I was calling her mad queen in season 5. She burnt people alive for theee seasons. She beheaded her follower in season 5.

Zahra A

btw the whole "everytime a targaryen is born the gods flip a coin" has always just been nothing but propaganda against them and ill die on that hill

Mitch

I think it means absolutely nothing and Dan and Dave thought it would look cool

Nivek

Cerseis hand has the softest skull of all time

jason 𒉭

how was she a mad queen in season 5? and where were the signs in season 7? and i was so happy when cersei died, kinda mad she got the easy way out after all the horrible things she’s done.

A_Daddy Daichi

Sigh. I really should’ve read the books back then when my sister told me. It would have somewhat tempered my rage

Shadow

Facts. You can pretty much count all the fr “mad” targs on just 1 hand

Matthew Jackson

"I've never known bells to mean surrender." - Davos Seaworth, Battle of Blackwater, S2E9.

Euphemia Isobel

The walkers were actually the good guys, they were there to stop Dany!

NINJA SWORD

Lmao there's no words Put the fries in the bag. This is not my Danny since half of season 4. Rewatching this for a second time, I would not wish this on my worst enemy.

emma.bean

for someone that has been very vocal about their love for good writing, im low key disappointed & surprised by carters dream "happily ever after" jon + dany ending..........

Shadow

Yea I’m on the same page as you with like all of that😂 I feel like it’s obvious but I’m definitely biased with my love for them both lmao

Bellamy Blake

@Jason I posted this convo in the last ep but if you don’t see the signs of a tyrant in her words here then please go study about it a little. 5x9 Hizdahr - That is a vital part of the Great City of Meereen, which existed long before you and I and will remain standing long after we have returned to the dirt. Daenerys - One day your great city will return to the dirt as well. Hizdahr - At your command? Daenerys - If need to be. Hizdahr - And how many will die to make that happen? Daenerys - If it comes to that, they will have died for a good reason. Hizdahr - Those men (in the fighting pit) think they are dying for a good reason. Daenerys - Someone else’s reason. Hizdahr - So your reasons are true and theirs are false? They don’t know their own minds, but you do?

Amna 🍉

All the side comments by McKay were the highlights of this episode 😂

suhani sharma

I sort of agree with you. I think it’s s2 when Dany says “ we’ll burn cities to the ground”. She always had that in her. I just wish this season was longer and her downfall would have been far more justified.

Nomaan

Well I think that also. Mainly cos his chapters in ADWD talk about him just hearing the bells ringing I think when he failed to defeat Robert for Rhaegar and he feels extremely guilty. So I think they combined his story with Dany, like Dany snaps hearing the bells ringing but that just makes 10x more sense for Jon Connington to do that imo

Amna 🍉

I miss long haired Cersei😔

Scinaps

Maybe it was Shadowfax who felt a disturbance in the fantasy space-time-continuum

Nomaan

Well a strategic marriage would’ve made sense. Although I prefer that they both die in the Long Night

Alex

Drogon and Dannys attack on the city was epic though. 10/10 visuals.

TheSauceGuy

Dany's descent into tyranny could've been made better if she had an actual rival claimant for the throne. Jon is around, but he's fiercely loyal to her in the show, and learning he's a Targaryen changes absolutely nothing about his character. Cersei is in play for way too long and the "false dragon" Young Griff is nonexistent. Had Young Griff been implemented, he could've won the support of the people and already begun his conquest. When Dany arrived, she'd have to not only contend with Cersei but also with Young Griff. How Jon plays into all of this could have an impact too. Perhaps Dany does all of the right things, but she is portrayed as a tyrant and fraud by Varys and Ilyrio (who support Young Griff and not her). Dany feels that things have been stolen from her and is forced to fight houses that have aligned themselves with either Cersei or Young Griff. So much could be done if Young Griff was added and even without him, there are no shortage of alternative ways to depict her descent into tyranny.

Nomaan

One line from the books turned into the whole justification of Danys character assassination😭

TheSauceGuy

Can you guys just drop the next one today so we can be done with it? 😭

Scinaps

Her hair realistically would have grown at least shoulder length since her walk of shame 🤣

creeper doodle

I think I'm pretty media literate, and though Dany is my favorite character of all time, I can separate my own bias from the source. I don't think us thinking that is us just falling into our bias at all lol

Delane Gill

The quote originates from one of the Targaryen Kings so I wouldn't say its just propaganda but I do agree that its misused a lot. Most Targs that we know of are about as normal as any other named characters we meet, and although it could be said that the family has relatively more evil/insane members than others, a lot of that is probably due to the weird conditions that they are raised in rather than some mystical coin flip

Euphemia Isobel

Seriously, I just want them to be done to start the next live action (hopefully Vikings or something)

Bellamy Blake

Does Dany ever holds trials for people in the books? She doesn’t do it in the show that I can remember. I know the trial systems are flawed/corrupt but I think they are still a step above one person deciding everyone’s fate. And I always wondered how intentional it is that they show so many trials in Westeros but none from Dany’s rule.

Nivek

Falling rocks is the absolute worst death in tv history

emma.bean

i guess? i just think that would have been so corny. might have hated that ending more than what we got lol. in my humble opinion, the jon & dany romance should not have been, or ever be, a thing at all in any way.

Dk

Lol I feel like Jon could have stopped the city burning if he gave dany pipe

Jem de Jager

I’m hoping they drop the other episode today.. let’s get this over with

Nomaan

Beheaded her follower who disobeyed her commands so she had to show she was a fair ruler for both the former slaves and the masters… what do u think about Jon beheading Janos Slynt for disobeying his command even tho Janos begged for mercy Jr?

TheSauceGuy

Vikings or The Last Kingdom would be nice, but I'd prefer they start with Vikings, purely because I've already watched it.

Tina L

I think the idea of only one ship being set on fire was to show off how screwed the "Wise Masters" were. Besides Dany wanted those ships after hers had been blown up by the Sons of the Harpy.

Delane Gill

Yeah of all the issues that this episode has, the way it portrays soldiers showing their true nature in the middle of sacking a city is pretty "realistic" unfortunately. Soldiers in general are people who have a life filled with killing others up close, its bound to skew their moral compasses, and although the Starks are mostly honourable protagonists in the story, that honour doesn't extend to their soldiers. And then of course the dothraki are literally know for pillaging settlements whilst the unsullied are known for having most of their emotions and empathy beaten out of them from a young age

Nomaan

Idk it was always coming. Maybe cos I read the books and it’s just meant to be. Both characters are connected despite not even knowing of each other. My fav connection being Dany hearing a wolf howl which makes her sad when Jon is killed

Delane Gill

Something that I just thought of is how crazy it is that Arya was able to pass through a whole group of white walkers and wights without trouble but then almost got killed multiple times by panicking common folk

Delane Gill

JJ

the logic with the stark soldiers killing the innocents is “there’s a beast in every man, and it stirs when you out a sword in his hand” -jorah they’ve said a variation of this throughout the series, how during war soldiers do crazy things because of the adrenaline, rush, the power, etc. this is their way of showing it lol. enjoy.

TheSauceGuy

Cannon, you can be a fan of a character without justifying their actions. I am a Stannis stan, but he does tons of indefensible things in the show. Many Daenerys stans do often push aside the fact that she has committed the largest mass killing in the series; it was against civilians, and her allies, and completely unnecessary. I've seen some UNIRONICALLY say "fuck the smallfolk" and stuff like that and defend her lmao.

Blackeyedlily

Danearys did tell Varys in Season 7 that if he betrayed her she would burn him. And he responded that he would expect that from her.🔥

Amna 🍉

Cersei deserved a better death. I wish Arya or even Sansa had a hand in her dying. Cersei single handedly started the downfall of House Stark.

Zipzzty

Please drop the last ep 😭🙏🙏

bateman bookworm

beheaded her follower who was given a trial and admitted to murder, her burning soldiers who are fighting against her is not and will never be the same as killing thousands of children but keep drinking that koolaid that d&d keep selling you to cover their terrible writing

Blackeyedlily

Apparently when she first got the script she took a long walk around London for a couple of hours just to try and process it. It certainly no secret she was extremely disappointed.

Griffin

D&D: "She went mad!" As if that just explains everything. Complete nonsense

creeper doodle

Dany in the books is not at all the same character as she is in the show. Basically from season 2 onward, she is a completely different person. D&D dislike the character and intentionally portrayed her in a cold, ruthless sort of light. If you ever read the books, given your other comments on this video, I think you would actually really like her character. If you ever read the books, keep that in mind. :)

bateman bookworm

Targs going mad is such a cheap copout considering only 3 in history were deserving of that title. You can call every house mad using that metric. Real book fans know that dany is not going mad, jon is way more likely if you can believe that

emma.bean

yeah.. i guess the show just didn't do a good job of developing it. i think a long lost familial/blood relation bond would have been more meaningful to me.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

I haven't watched yet, but do not ever feel like your reaction is overkill. If Emilia Clarke had to call her MOM for support after reading the script, and spend 5 HOURS wandering aimlessly through London in a state of shock until her feet blistered, I think viewers shock and disappointment is completely rational. Not to mention Kit checking himself into REHAB. When I tell you David & Dan are the true villains, I mean it.

Griffin

I think most people would be fine with Dani going mad. But I can't imagine a worse execution

Bellamy Blake

Yes but she still has subjects in essos. Don’t they ever have judgements or something regarding a crime they committed or are accused of?

Alex

Gearge RR Marting gave D&D the main plot points for the end of the series. With that being said is fairly reasonable to belive that Danny burning the city is his p lanned ending for the book. So you guys keep saying D&D's writing when this is not the problem. The problem was their carelessness in rushing the end of the show and taking shortcuts.

emma.bean

Or actually even better for me than that… a full blown rivalry haha

bateman bookworm

cersei is really the winner here! she has been consistent throughout the whole show and died a shakespearean death in the arms of her lover

Amna 🍉

"Tywin would've never let that happen" if he had a dragon, he would've done the same thing or worse. He already sacked the city and committed the worst monstrosities while doing it

Amna 🍉

I love how delusional she is in the books, I love her chapters!

Blackeyedlily

Absolutely, that is the very worst thing they did to Jamie. The most central part of his character is the fact that he allowed people to call him a King’s Slayer, someone dishonorable enough to turn on the king they were guarding, all in order to keep that king from burning down the city. This is among several characters assassinations that this episode completed.😤

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! I can't wait to see your reactions to the last episode! I gotta admit I teared up at Jaime and Tyrion's goodbye and also at Jaime and Cersei.. Jaime had so much potential man..

Kelsey

you're right and some people won't want to hear it. Her impulsive tendencies are nothing new, but I only wish they gave us more time to process her full mental decline. Watching for a second time, I can see "ahhh, that's what they're doing." But as a first time observer (while not as out-of-character as some make it seem) it was still a bit jarring

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Also there is an interview where Emilia is asking them when they came up with the "idea" for Dany to "go mad" and they said ✨they✨ came up with it "around s3". She is such a nice person that she does not call them out then and there for being complete liars. Especially David Benioff, is an admitted pathological liar and you can see it all over his face in the inside the eps.

Alex

Why are u guys acting like killing civilians and raping them is crazy during a siege?? This was mention before in the show that sieges are chaos. Litereally in the year 2024 Russia is invading Ukraine and doing the same to people over there. The only difference between the Northmen and the WIldings is the WALL that was put into place. The North are very barbaric people the Boltens literally flay people!

Kelsey

I havent seen this yet, but I've heard great things. I'll add it to my list!

Aaronm

I think that Sandors arc might have been the only characters arc that was actually good from start to finish and didn't get ruined along the way.

Katie Thomas

“There’s a beast in every man and it stirs when you put a sword in his hand”

Jada

As a Jaime fan, I cried because I was so pissed. I didn't know how to convey my emotions so all I could do was cry. All of these characters just butchered like it was nothing.

Griffin

The fact that because of the teleporting nonsense all time is wishy washy, but if we follow early seasons, the losing her dragon + missandei's death + burning the city are each weeks apart. If theyd all happened in one day, it might make sense for her to "snap", but she still wouldn't wait for the bells to burn. It still makes more sense for her to start burning before the bells but then ignore them once they start ringing, as though trapped in her rage. In no world would Dani from a place of complete victory decide to burn a million innocents. They tried to focus on "then let it be fear" but the people don't love Cersei so that doesnt make sense either because Cersei has always ruled by fear. Any way you try to approach the execution of Danis madness arc, D&D utterly failed.

Amna 🍉

D&D are definitely the problem. Book Dany is very different from the show. GRRM has also confirmed that show canon and book canon will be different. Dany from the beginning has been written to be different from her ancestors.

Blackeyedlily

Compared to the show, the Golden Company in the books has an extremely interesting history. They were founded by a Targaryen bastard, who was responsible for the other big Targaryen Civil War that happened after the Dance of the Dragons. And they are being set up to play a major role in the final two books, if we ever get them.

Ant just watching

I hope all the got fans come watch the dark reactions

Isaiah

This is textbook character assassination man it hurts to watch

creeper doodle

I still don't think show Dany makes sense to do that. Period. Nothing would justify it, and no amount of time and seasons would make it make sense. That's just not who she is. Perhaps if she flew to the red keep, burned it, and wild fire caches exploded, resulting in the deaths of innocents, sure. That I could see, but Dany, who has always championed and protected the innocents, who has always defended them and refused to strike when she was at the pinnacle of her strength, turning her dragon onto the populous, makes no sense no matter how anyone tries to justify it.

Kelsey

it is totally possible that I misunderstood.....but @35:31 ish, did you ask "why would the army get rid of the wall that was their advantage" ? Please be kind to me if I made a mistake, but isnt the wall only an advantage to Queen Cersei and her army? of course it would be one of Daenerys' targets

Random Random

If Dany burns KL, the circumstances will be drastically different - for one, a hated monarch like Cersei won't be on the throne opposing her. For two, she won't be given awful advice by her council that its evil to do a standard siege to take the city within a day. D&D had to contrive a laughably stupid scenario for Dany to not just immediately take KL within a day of arriving in Westeros, when she had all of the advantages and a city that should be in full revolt of Cersei. This episode itself proved how easy it would have been to take the city with minimal civilian casualties the day she showed up with a full fleet, three dragons, and a city in chaos with no mercenary company guarding it. Tyrion of all people would know the city would fall easily, as he was in charge of city defense during the Blackwater Battle which would have fallen in a single night. Yet to make the "Dany going mad" storyline they pre-ordained happen, they had to make everyone lose all of their intelligence and character traits so Dany can lose her advantages and go crazy. That is a D&D writing problem. None of that will be present in the books (if they are ever written lol).

Walker11

Jack pretending he’s not seen the show is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

Gobbo

I remember watching this at a watch party the night of the release and yeah all of us were just like wtf are we even watching. Immense disappointment in the show which had already been mediocre for a while, but they took to new depths.

bob

The Master of Whispers becomes The Blabber Mouth committing treason in broad daylight... Lmao Varys deserved a better end than this shite writing. Him and Littlefinger. You can only write a smart character as smart as yourself, and D&D couldn't deliver lol. I also couldn't buy Tyrion betraying his bro like that SO quick.

Katie Thomas

Yea I mean she practically never shuts up about how she’s going to lay waste to armies burn cities to the ground in the first couple of seasons. That scene where Ser Barriston talks to her about her dad is also very telling. So I agree with you

Walker11

Even the bells ringing moment and Daenerys spiralling in her face visibly was epic.

EtherealLlama

Daenerys fan here… for me it’s really just how sudden it was. It’s played like a shock for shock’s sake, like Rhaegal’s death. Like yeah there are breadcrumbs and foreshadowing that could lead to this result and I accept that. It could’ve been really well done. But having it all go like THIS? A sudden snap leading to hours of senseless carnage after 7.5 seasons of her trying to be a good person? It’s not right 😔

Matthew

I did think for a moment that when Qyburn went to get Cersei to tell her to leave, it was going to be a shock Arya face reveal! 😆

Griffin

Because US is the only country that's had a civil war.

Walker11

I think cannon had mentioned Varys was trying to poison her by having the spy in the kitchen

Kelsey

yes - with all the fanservice that was catered to, the very least they could have offered us was a just (and totally deserved) proper end to Cersei

bateman bookworm

i mean there are tyrion stans even tho he’s become an absolute DUMBASS…..we just kind of don’t care about her burning kl it’s just so nonsensical

Griffin

Carter saying this episode was worse than he'd ever imagined is pretty wild. Reminds me how floored we were, with *zero* warning.

creeper doodle

I vote Last Kingdom! It's so good, and helped pull me out of my post GOT season i depression

bateman bookworm

the guy in mereen was going to get a trial but he just pleaded guilty so no trial was needed

Walker11

🤣🤣🤣 if anything it’s Jack who’s the one pretending tbh. He’s seen the show but acting shock at every scene in the show

bateman bookworm

Yeah but telling is not showing, especially bc we’ve have SEEN her always have mercy and never kill innocents literally up until the last ep where she agreed to have the “talk” with cersei. She has always restrained to prevent that bloodshed so the flip to madness is not done well at all

Thina

I love Daenerys and ya I kinda just disregard this episode. I don't feel like this is an accurate ending for her character, especially her book character. I was so mad when I first watched this because not only does it not match with her character (book and show), it doesn't even make sense. She has no reason to kill all those people when she's already won. In my mind Daenerys is still in Meereen being a breaker of chains and gearing up to take Westeros. That's the only way I can cope with this trash 😭

Ashley

When people use season 8 as a verb now, like to say damn, “Joker 2 really season 8’d hard” — I hope you get the meaning now! If something just destructively, falls off and makes no narrative sense, and you can’t fathom how it was possible, it’s season eight’ed

MagicSquirrel

Now, Gek, imagine following this up for a decade. With passion, people gathering in bars, laughing, loving the show with all their hearts, together. all, gathering for the grand finale. Just to be met with "the great night" dying out in an episode, with 0 fight. Bran doing nothing. Arya not using her abilities to do anything useful whatsoever, Daenerys's madness arc dumbed down to oblivion with 0% crescendo or buildup.. the list could go on and on for ages. The amount of bullshit is through the roof. it just hurts. It's just painful. You can't recover from this bad ending. But once again.. IMAGINE, how it felt for people that have shared the love and theories for this show, for a DECADE.

bob

LMFAOO Carter's face when Jon said "I love you"

bateman bookworm

yall should watch histories and lore after just to have fun with the story again

Jem de Jager

For anyone wondering when GoT episode 6. I asked Cannon and Jack during Twitch stream, and Jack said: “probably Wednesday or Tuesday”. No promises though. Go check their stream out too🔥

bob

I was never the biggest fan of Emilia Clarke's acting, except in season 1 she really pulled off the ingenue version of Dany. But in the last season I felt she finally started coming into her acting, and it's such a shame that skill was wasted on a script like this. 😭

The black Utah

Daenerys and jaimes character assassination needs to be studied

Has

Jack hasn't seen the last season, or has only seen the first 2/3 episodes from what I remember him saying.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

kmn kmn kmn kmn I honestly can barely pay attention though, so boring, so ridiculous, so disappointing. My cat is facing away from the TV scowling, she's the smartest cat I ever met, frr tho.

Sean Carroll

You can dress it up as much as you want, there is no defence for burning thousands of people alive and it’s weird that you even try to. You can condemn your favourite characters you know. Eren jaeger is a good example

Kelsey

As for her choice to attack the civilians despite the ringing of the bells......I personally dont think it's so much out of character as it is just poorly timed/lacked build-up to the decision. It's obvious the writers (poorly) tried to hint towards these choices with her noticing what an outsider she was despite the victory against the undead, her fear of being usurped by a new male heir after everything she did to get to this point/all that she lost or sacrificed. It wouldnt be so outlandish to say she would choose fear to enforce her new rule (as she did with the slavers) but it needed a season or 2 to get to that point imo

Ben Holmes

I can’t even get myself to watch 8x4 let alone this one…. WHY D&D WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!

Ana

@Sean thank you 😊 but it's just a tv show. It's not real. No extras was hurt during the filming. Also you will be seeing me defend Eren over on Badd medicine. So be ready lol

Daenerys Targaryen

I think Jon and me (and all our dragons) dying to protect Westeros and the world of the living would be a perfect ending to the story. The Targaryens and the dragons have fulfilled their destiny. It's bittersweet, just like George likes it.

creeper doodle

I heard that too, and I figured they were talking about the golden company. Like, why would they leave the walls during a siege? I'd argue that D&D don't understand medevial warfare, so that's why.

emma.bean

Yeah but see that isn’t happily ever after ruling together. That ending I don’t hate... but I still don’t think they needed romance to have that ending either... Idk I just gotta read these effing books already lol. Get some alternative perspective.

Shadow

I don’t blame you. And all the character assassinations in one episode is crazy💀

bob

Book Dany is my baby girl. All she wanted was the big house with the red door and the lemon tree. 😤 Show Dany? I don't know her. Emilia was also 1 of 3 people in the cast who actually read the books, and she read it TWICE. 😭 So she knows exactly what was lost.

Kelsey

That makes much more sense than what I was thinking - thank you!

Griffin

Littlefinger's end, although feeling a bit more rewarding, is equally as unfitting as Varys's. Littlefinger is the smartest person in Westeros, hands down. Everyone on the continent has been a puppet playing into his plans from the beginning. In the show, we know he started thr War of the Five Kings by orchestrating the death of John Arryn and blaming it on the Lannisters... but what we have been hinted at in the books is that he also orchestrated Robert's Rebellion, as "someone" who happened to be in the same place same time as him let Robert know that Lyanna had been taken by Reagar (he also may have even helped Lyanna escape with Reagar) and insinuated it was against her will, which Robert latched onto as he was completley obsessed with her and made up a story in his head they were in love. Petyr did this as a way to get revenge on the Starks, specifically Brandon Stark for "winning" Catelyn, but even Brandon's death didn't get him Cat, because Ned was too *noble*, and then Petyr had to start scheming once again. But yes, obviously a man who could orchestrate multiple wars could be outsmarted by a few kids. 🙃

The black Utah

Daenerys fan here we love danerys but this episode most of just blame D&D lol because if her decent into madness took over at least 3 seasons it would have been perfect and I think a lot of people would think this isn’t the best but it would’ve been better than this because even with this horrible ending everywhere on tik Tok I see her being compared to anikin and Paul atredies from dune because they all represent fallen angels trying to change or help the world but ultimately turning into darker characters, but other than that Emilia this episode I think showed a lot of people of how great an actor she is just by her facial expressions when on Drogon you very much tell she is on the point of a mental breakdown

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

😭😭😭😭😭 🚪🍋 Yes, she (and show Dany) know exactly that they were screwed over, most of the cast does, but what can they say? Grin and bear it. They choose the 🐻

Walker11

Anybody think they need to watch FRIEREN to detox their mind from Game of thrones. ?

Kelsey

You summed this up so well 😩 I distinctly remember being SO involved for YEARS. With all the time between seasons....that time was theorycrafting, rewatching with friends, watch parties, etc. All to be built up to such a high point (looking at you, season 6) to come to an anticlimactic end......I don't think myself so self-important to expect things to be catered to the fans or myself......but it really was just a slap to the face of people who cared about this series for so long

Jenny D

This episode was so messed up. They definitely did rush it. I could see Daenerys's downfall, but I also didn't want her to fall too far down like she did here. I wanted her to have a redemption and like Carter mentioned have her and Jon rule. But, because of her fear and how much Jon is loved by the people would probably defer to him more. Great reactions. Curious to see reaction to how it all ends.

ssj4rit

This might be the most they ever hated an episode of TV on the channel

Walker11

I really hope it gets on their radar. Carter especially would love the writing. And there’s action enough from the exam arc if they need that ! Hope it gets picked up

Bellamy Blake

Jon and Dany ruling together would be a terrible ending. All of this epic story and drama just for Targaryens to rule everything again? That would feel pointless.

bob

They mentioned in their twitch stream today they want to react to it eventually!

Brig Andrus

ABSOLUTE CHEEKS 🙌🏻

Griffin

Rightly so. I'm just surprised they weren't more prepared with how much 5&6 are pretty universally hated, even by people who dont mind s6,7,and first half of 8. Just goes to show how truly horribly d&d did with this ending.

Kim555

Hey, at least it was cinematic lmao

bob

Show Euron is a bum through and through. But in the books he actually embodied his opening line "When men see my sails, they pray." His actor was all over social media not even trying to hide their disappointment in their character when this aired. I think he read the books and thought he was about to play the role of a lifetime. 😐

Gam Mac

What a high-budget mess 😂😂😂😂

Harper

Dear Sean, I’m not justifying what she did, but why she did it is different. If the character were a man, this whole issue would be much more accepted, but as a woman she is already taxed as crazy. Anyway, if it’s to drive her crazy, at least work more on it.

Rumaki21

We just saw somone have a Manic Episode on a Dragon.

Griffin

They could have made one of dozens of slightly different executions and it would have been forgivable, but they chose the worst option- and I guarantee the reason for each and every choice is "its more cinematic this way". Have Dani lose missandei and a dragon that day, let her start repeating "burn them all", let us hear missandeis dying words of "dracarys" echo as dani and her dragon sit near where she was murdered. Have her burn the city- then the bells ring- but she's too consumed by rage to notice them. Have exactly the same thing happen but she burns just the keep, civilians and all "sacrifices must be made", etc. Have the crowds for some reason chanting for Cersei, and Dani gets one more reminder that they'll never love her -- have her even look over to Jon, who also won't love her the way she desires. Plant something a few seasons ago that bells for some reason are a trauma trigger for Dani. Literally so many ways to make this arc work, and they chose none of them. That's the thing about the "she just snapped" argument -- you need a trigger to finally snap, a straw that breaks the camels back, and they gave her *none*.

Sean Johnson

I laugh at the idea that between this episode and the last one, When Messandei got her head cut off, and Dany watched, she just toddled off with Drogon and FLEW HOME to Dragonstone!!!???? like WHAAAT. Cersei was right there

Juu

I get that the show got worse but the dany burning kings landing part makes perfect sense and will almost certainly happen in the books. Madness runs in the targaryen family for generations and dany's been seen becoming less reasonable and compassionate for many seasons now. After the misande thing this wasn't that unexpected.

selmak13

These comments are so damn weird. I cheered for the burning of KL and rumbling too and that makes me a psycho apathetic sick tyrant irl? Or it makes me likely to follow one? Do you also think that I support bombing of Gaza? What? Can your minds not separate reality from fiction? I watched the show for the main characters as every single person ever, and I didn't care about thousands of innocent fictional characters, I cared about what the main ones are doing and where the story goes. Key word: FICTION

Maari

They massacred my boy. S3 Jaime just never existed to them. He broke his one oath as a Kingsgaurd and killed his King BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO BURN THE INNOCCENT. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE "NEVER CARED FOR THEM"?!

A_Daddy Daichi

all the snapchat posts of people uploading their reactions 😭 I was in college at this time. it was a lot of fun and they disappointed us smh

Euphemia Isobel

Madness runs in the family? There’s like 3 Targaryens who were “mad” over hundreds of years. Tywin drowned children and he’s not called mad

Sean Carroll

Was always a shit character, this episode just butchered her beyond repair

Euphemia Isobel

If they wanted to make Daenerys the bad guy they should’ve had her burn the red keep and the damage accidentally sets off the wild fire caches around the city, you’d get the same result without the dumb assery

Griffin

@Random My money is the books are 90% written and GRRM will refuse to finish them because he doesn't want to deal with any fan backlash. He probably already has a deal with Sanderson or someone to finish compiling and publishing them after his death (like he did for Jordan).

Bellamy Blake

lol then maybe you didn’t get the point of the story because the small folk matter too. I know it’s a fantasy but metaphors exist for a reason. Dragons are nukes.

bob

"Death comes on a pale horse." is just some random biblical reference d&d thought we would all know and that it would be cool to visually implement. That's it, it's just random af.

Alex

This is not the book. Literally every adaptation is different from the book. This doesn’t mean anything

Ladnon

I could really use Sean's input and thoughts about these last couple episodes 😞

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

If you got the real ending, you'd see how much GRRM cares about how much innocent small folk do in fact matter. But Dave & Dan didn't care about them, so I can see why you wouldn't. They were told to put Arya on the ground as a pov character though so you might care a little, but it doesn't fully work, besides conceptually.

A_Daddy Daichi

I quite literally was just about to comment, this is the first time I'm genuinely wait for Sean's analysis 😂

The night is Dank and full of Memers

It doesn't matter if you cared about them, it matters the writing is so regarded it should be taught in an Anti-Writing (TM) Course. You are cheering for shitty writing. The primary victims of that writing, is the main characters all being completely ruined in order to have the scene you are cheering for.

The night is Dank and full of Memers

Ends justify the means / willing to do anything for victory is a possibility in the book for sure. The problem is this isn't what happened in the show. She could have literally flown to the Red Keep and insta killed Cersei without a single innocent life lost lmao. She UNSTRATEGICALLY lawn mowers the innocent babies, which does nothing other than undermine her support forever lmao. It is literally pointless and achieves nothing for her.

alexis ♡︎

when it comes to dany, it’s just character assassination.. there’s literally nothing else to it 🤷🏾‍♀️

Griffin

But also it is stupid, because it doesn't make logical sense. *spoilers* (I know geks have finished but in case some crazy person hasn't and is in the comments). Arya is the one who rides the horse, and she has already killed everyone shes going to kill at this point. If she was going to be the one to kill Dani, it would make slightly more sense. If Jon rode the horse out, it would also make more sense. But the phrase isn't "death comes near a pale horse" or "the pale horse is all that survives death". So this bullshit excuse for these crazy long shots around the white horse "because its symbolism" are just nonsense. Literally "the white horse represents purity and hope amongst the chaos" is league's better than the horrible excuse they use

A_Daddy Daichi

@selmak13, unless I missed it, I didn't see any comments suggesting supporting Dany's decision makes you a "tyrant" in real life.

Griffin

But Maari, he's a "hateful" man and always has been 🫠

Maari

Of course, my mistake, forget his entire character arc :p

The night is Dank and full of Memers

Scorpions went from a single one being the most OP weapon in the verse to an armada of them being utterly useless. Anti-Writing TM

The night is Dank and full of Memers

@Jack, Tywin was let into the city then sacked it once his army was inside already. They didn't siege the red keep so technically it is true.

Dreamer

Daenerys said she only had fear, so that’s what she gave them. Did you guys forget these armies are made of savages, they will kill and rape the women 🤷🏻‍♀️ Varys betrayed Daenerys by plotting to kill her. Tyrion still trying to save his family, betraying the queen he chose. Daenerys lost it because there was not a single person that could give her comfort for all she lost, obviously she realized she couldn’t trust Jon because Jon thinks the world is a better place by being honorable and honest which in reality that’s what killed Ned Stark 🙄 morally is wrong but visually I just love the dragons being what they are beasts of fire 🔥 other than that the rest sucks. Hot take, maybe the night kings could have been a better ruler 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cam

Jack, the red keep did not fall during robert’s rebellion. Tywin’s army was at the gates and tricked the mad king into opening the gates for him by telling him he was there to protect the city. When they opened the gates, Tywin sacked the city.

PST3

They shouldn't have made Danaerys go full mad in an instant especially after they had won. They could have stretched it out and had incidents like they were struggling to win and Cersei was using underhand tactics to have her soldiers dress up as civilians and attack her dragon and armies. Now she has wiped the biggest city in Westeros, GDP of her Kingdom has dropped by 70%, how is she going to fund her empire. Tyrion claims he 's for the people but he's had far few scenes with him emphathising with the common people compared to Danaerys.

Bellamy Blake

@anaya it was probably something i said 😅 I get very emotional and flabbergasted at ppl trying to justify Dany killing thousands and often say it makes me realize how real life tyrants could command blind loyalty. It might seem weird but it’s genuinely a thought that crosses my mind. There’s a difference tho between the ones that just don’t accept this writing at all and the ones that say the small folk sucked anyway and they don’t care that Dany burns them 🥴 I know it’s just a story but the popular mindset to support Dany no matter what is unsettling. It’s interesting that Selmak brings up Gaza because that’s part of what gets me so emotional. I’m sorry I just don’t think blowing ppl up is ever a good thing or message to send, whether they be real or fictional it makes me sick. It’s not my intention to upset people

Griffin

But the "Mad Targaryens" also had reasons they turned mad. It's implied each was plagued by visions of the white walkers, and this manifested itself as madness in their different ways of coping - Baelor the Blessed turning to zealous religion and starving himself, and Aerys II creating giant caches of wildfire to "burn them all", as examples. Dani had none of the deep lingering decades of struggles the "Mad Targaryens" did before they went mad. Yes, she had been through a lot recently, but by comparison to the other Mads, she just had the world's biggest tantrum over complete victory. She literally faced their demons as if they were nothing, but a ringing bell destroys her? There's no logic here.

Vicente Daie Pinilla

No. GRRM only gave 3 plot points: Stannis burning Shireen, the Hold The Door moment, and the person who ends up as king next episode. This is NOT George's future for Dany, no f-ing way. Daenerys character is waaaay different than show Dany, maybe go watch Crusader Chris YT video about Daenerys to get what the real Dany is about. F*ck D&D. Now and always.

PST3

LotR has made them sweet summer children

PST3

Tywin would never wipe out a city that would contribute the most to his GDP

Griffin

And especially since we've seen how they've written women as one-note since taking over, it really does feel like an implied followup of "Bitches be crazy, right?"

Ladnon

I haven't seen anything but maybe I haven't loooked good enough

The night is Dank and full of Memers

Every single excuse and defense people will make for Dany's turn is irrelevant for 1 simple fact. What she does has literally no purpose. She can fly to the keep and no diff Cersei in 2 seconds. Killing the civilians A) Destroys her future city/castle B) Will forever turn everyone against her C) Further risk of Drogon taking a scorpion bolt (Those are suddenly usesless this episode but were the most OP item in the verse yesterday) Her story ending in a dark "Ends justify the means" Story is very doable. This isn't that. Her "means" of lawn mowering 1 million innocent civilians doesn't help provide her "Ends" whatsoever in any facet. Its anti tactical, and exists purely for shock value. It is literally Anti-Writing. You can justify her turn any way you want. The actions she takes during the turn are goofy clown nonsense regardless of her character.

Kelsey

Literally just insulting how little effort was put into this after making us so invested in the story

Kelsey

I actually would have preferred the kingdoms hash it out and a new ruler come to power.....just in time for the night king to make it all meaningless I don't think this ending would have been a crowd pleaser, but I'd feel better about it anyway

Sean Carroll

Eren jaeger is the best imo although he was always destined for insanity

Brittany (Ultraanimegirl4)

How they wrote nearly every character to betray 7 seasons of their own character development in the span of a few episodes is beyond me omg

selmak13

Yes, you GoT loyalists, I understand every story can be a metaphore and have a "deeper message", and in that deeper message I can agree with you, but how come you don't realize that not everyone watches GoT for anything other than pure entertainment value? Why is it allowed for you to feel a sentimental attachment to thousands of characters but not for me to not? I was shocked when Robb died because I had an emotional attachment to his character, but these thousands of sides are used for progression of the story that I am following. It seems to me like you bunch are just virtue signalling and berating anyone whose opinions deviate from yours.

Marc-Etienne M Jobin

If she had become the Night Queen and resurrected with the same intent of becoming the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, all of this sudden shift in character and the attack on King's Landing scenario would've been credible. And then Jon would've fought her on Rhaegal's back with her old armies as she made a new army of her own .

Sean Carroll

You say you are a fan of great writing and yet you defended season 5 and 6 when I was bashing it

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

But also they didn't need to do Georges ending, they could have just done their own more coherent and we'd all probably be ok. But they refused to hire other writers to collaborate because they didn't want to add extra time to getting it done. They sure got it done, at least.

The night is Dank and full of Memers

It should be taught in an Anti-Writing (TM) Course. The plot, the characters and the worldbuilding where all utterly assassinated by the end. The writing died with Lord Tywin Lannister.

Nicole

Every time a Targaryen is born...they flip a coin. I do not know what you mean, Targaryens were known to be off...not all...but they were so inbred. Her father was the literal mad king and Dany was a mad queen. There are tons of things that I would have done different and I question about the ending but this part is never one of them. Makes perfect sense. I thought Dany's transition was gradual. She has been showing this for seasons but I do think this mad was sudden, but do you think people take time to become crazy? No they SNAP! She became what she wanted to free people from. She became the tyrant.

Nathan

Overall I think it's a solid episode. Could it have been written 1000x better, for sure 1,000,000 times over. But unfortunately we're stuck with what we got.

Cam

Just post 8x6 today and put us out of our misery pls

emma.bean

I was referring to Carter being the fan of good writing, cause he has said that multiple times. While I appreciate really top tier writing, and all my favorite shows fall in that category i think, I can certainly enjoy fine/average writing as well. With this show it’s mainly the amazing work that the first four seasons did to make me really invest and love the world and characters and then the fan service/payoffs we get in season 6 make that season so enjoyably for me. I’m not a huge fan of season 5 as a whole. It’s not all bad, but it’s definitely my least favorite season of the core 6.

Brittany (Ultraanimegirl4)

I wish they had done this the other way around.. like take out Kings Landing first properly, Arya could have killed Cercei by being no one, Dany didn't need to go crazy and kill civilians. Then the long night struggle could have been the finale. Have Jon and Dany jointly kill the night king somehow and then maybe they both die doing it, fulfilling the prophecy. Maybe that's 'too predictable' but I'd rather have a predictable, satisfying ending then this

Not today

Its my opinion Sean. Your opinion which has been blasted 2000 times I didn't agree with and didn't resort to name calling.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

They literally just put no effort into it. They knew people would watch and thought if they did a bunch of big stuff others wouldn't notice. They just tried to BS there way through, like they have in life. It's not at all like they sat down and meticulously wrote bad development, they just didn't even write any. A few beats here and there, with some super weird reaching for unrelated symbolism was good enough to them.

1999

Ikalgo in the basement 😂😂😂

Not today

Frank Francis - little irritated but yeah. Thanks for checking in

Not today

Mitch - you have said this line in past. Get a new one. Some people just like to watch the tv show and not nit pick

bob

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they didn't want collaborative help with the writing (and directing) in the final seasons, because they wanted it to be strictly their names stamped and sealed on it as a point of pride. It just HAD to be them.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

This too, I've said too many times how egotistical and entitled they are though, so idk if anyone believes me anymore 🤣 They barely tried, but also really thought they did something. The dunning effect in full display.

bob

Isn't one of them the son of a former head of Goldman Sachs?? i would imagine that would breed ego like nothing else 😭

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Yes, and he (David Benioff) lives in his shadow, so his fragile ego does all the heavy lifting to cope with that lack of self esteem. He lies to build himself up to others, but mostly to get by with his daddys expectations. The father wound is deep with this one. (And I just want to be clear to anyone that I am not demonizing these two. When I say they're hell sent, I'm being hyperbolic, but also they are the type not to hold themselves accountable, so I will. The difference between them and many others is others might also dislike criticism, but will at least want to reflect on it. No one is perfect, all of us far from it, so I don't expect them to be flawless beings, but they sure as hell did themselves no favors in addressing everyone's concerns and criticisms during production, and again after the fact. They alienated people left and right with their callousness so they've earned this call out and contempt. Until they get off a high horse and genuinely show remorse for being manipulative, self serving, petty, and insensitive towards others from day one, they're bringing it on themselves)

Bellamy Blake

That’s fair. Sorry if I offended anyone. I’ll admit to being an emotional commenter. To the Geks and anyone here, I apologize if anything I said ever seemed disrespectful. That’s never my intention.

Shadow

People really ride this “targ coin flip” thing way too much. The fact it’s so prevalent in the fandom is just another flaw of a the show

Dani G

What they did to Dany’s character is nothing short of criminal. The WORST derailment of any character I’ve ever seen. I’m still furious about it. They scrapped her entirely and turned her into a plot device for the sake of a tragic Shakespearean ending that made no effing sense.

Sean Carroll

Currently at work and have been studying for exams all last week and this week Will be putting forth my ep 3-5 comments tonight (so like 12 hours from now)

Dani G

“I’m a queen, not a butcher.” - Daenerys Targaryen “The blood of my enemies, not the blood of innocents.” - Daenerys Targaryen Daenerys Targaryen who said up and down for seven seasons that she did not want civilian casualties in the aftermath of her conquest. Excuse me. I’m still SEETHING.

Kelsey

@1h: 15: 50 "how is she gonna get up on this horse?" @1: 16: 05 "but like, you can't jump up onto a horse" 🙃 Meanwhile, my former horseback riding teacher literally wouldnt let any student on a horse until they could mount without assistance, block, or stirrups

Sean Carroll

Why was my Dany vs eren comparison comment deleted?

Brett

I'll never understand how people didn't see Dany's crashout coming. It's been hinted since the first season. From all the Mad King references, to the vison while in the House of the Undying, conversations with the Spice King, etc. Since season 1, she was always an entiltled and spolied brat. “Do you understand? I’m no ordinary woman. My dreams come true.”.... "Do you know what kept me standing through it all? Not faith in any Gods or myths, but FaiTh iN MySeLf"....."I just sent away a man who loves me, and I felt nothing." You could see the madness in her eyes the entire time. She only got this far off the back of her advisors and dragons. You can count on two hands the amount of times she was the one to make a major decision. Most of those times involved her buring people. Look, I don't blame her, she endured a lot. However, she was never the Hero some made her out to be. The true Hero is that man Jon f****** Snow. (D&D also did a miserable job building up to her crashout along with everything else in the final two seasons)

Dani G

This was what I wrote when I first finished the episode and I still stand by it: For the majority of Dany’s arc, the show has repeatedly bashed us over the head with the message that Dany is not her father. That her character is essentially defined by everything that makes her different from him, and in this she is presented as the quintessential foil to him. We already had a Mad Queen in Cersei Lannister, which was set in motion to align with King Aerys since the beginning. And yet they made Dany her father anyway. WHY? If this was always the intended endgame, the writers should have reserved more writing power towards exploring the darker sides of Dany. Her actions in the past were not any more morally questionable than anything else any other character did. Jon executed a child for treason. Ned and Robb beheaded deserters for treason. And Dany burned slavers, rapists, and war lords like we are supposed to care at all? Up until now, her actions were casted in the same shade of grey as everyone else. That’s why this complete 180 into a Machiavellian dictator in the space of two episodes just didn’t make sense. To add insult to injury, we are locked out of her point of view during and following the massacre. This is to further dehumanize her in the eyes of the audience so that her death feels justified, but this is also one of the two of your protagonists here! In this massive departure from her character, we don’t even get a shred of insight into her headspace. In fact, we get everyone else’s point of view. The show uses characters as mouth pieces to bend the narrative around this plot point so that it seems justified to the audience, but that’s just gaslighting your audience to force a conclusion to a main character’s story arc that just..doesn’t make sense. Even Daenerys’ death is framed around Jon’s perspective. What he’s thinking, what he’s feeling. That’s because she ceases to be an important character anymore despite being the female protagonist of this damn story and the representation of Fire in the franchise title. Her character is scrapped in episode five and she is nothing more than a means to serve an end. That’s something deeply grating about reducing your female protagonist into a plot device to further everyone else’s story arc at the expense of her own. And then there’s the additional layer to all of this that really lays on the ick factor particularly thick: you have a rape and abuse survivor claw her way from the bowels of hell to make something of herself only to turn her into a one dimensional caricature of herself to further a plot that doesn’t tie in with the preestablished narrative at all so you can explore a trope that is frankly overused. A character who has become an icon to women, especially rape and abuse survivors, who was shown in her first scene being abused wraps up her last scene being stabbed in the heart by someone she loved and trusted. THIS is the endgame they chose for their female protagonist. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Frosty

cant wait for the next show, honestly hoping theres no vote

Kelsey

fully agree - you can see it coming from a mile away. but somehow D&D still made how it happened rushed and less impactful

Mitch

Criticizing one of the most universally hated upon seasons of television isn’t nit picking. If you like it great, your points are all objectively wrong tho.

Kelsey

respectfully disagree (partially) - theyve been hinting at this for AGES with how she's solved her major issues in the absence of her advisors or against her advisors......but they hit the 10x plot speed button. Too much happened in too little time for it to be palatable

Dani G

She put off her pursuit of the iron throne specifically to liberate people from slavery and made it very clear that wanted to avoid civilian casualties. Yes, she had a penchant for being ruthless and brutal with her enemies, but these were rapists, slavers, warlords. Never up until this point did she ever condone the slaughter of innocents. In fact, she actively stepped in to prevent it at every turn.

creeper doodle

"Will almost certainly happen in the books". Did we read the same books? Also, madness does not run in targs lol

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

YES! THIS! There is so much I could say about Littlefinger, but I refrain, because no one wants to read 10 paragraphs of me both stanning and being salty af about THE BEST CHARACTER and his demise. (If anyone does wanna chat about it though, I'm game obvs 😊)

Dani G

Girl, respectfully, where? When every time she’s saying, “not the blood of innocents”, “not women and children”, “I want as few civilian casualties as possible”.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

I cannot tell you though how much I LOVE this theory, because it makes so much sense, and also the one about Sweet Robin being the (failed) termination. I'm obsessed.

creeper doodle

They have openly admitted that they came up with the whole 'Dany goes mad and Jon kills her' thing. It's crazy that people still say that this is George's ending. Dany would never 🖤

Brett

I don't think most are saying it's not cool because she's a woman lol. It's the fact that she had this moral grandstanding the entire show, that she wasn't like the others and she would be the one to make the world a better place. Only to burn people every chance she had. Seems like you just want to be offended for the sake of being offended.

Brett

Gek's, you guys should react to "The Cast Remembers" and other behind the scenes videos on youtube. Maybe even the live Q&A's with GRRM. If not, atleast give us your favorite face/heel characters.

Frosty

wow this is a worse pissing and moaning contest than i thought it would be

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

This is also supposed to be reflected in the character of Sandor, being that he has been bred to be everything an effective knight and soldier should be, but resents and doesn't truly want to align with any of it. He "is a killer", but ONLY because it is his legacy as a man and a Clegane. He's a direct foil to Gregor, whose killer instincts are much more indulged and ingrained.

Ana

Facts. If they were gonna have Jon do what he did. Might as well did it to make Lightbringer . I definitely thought Jon would have to do either with Dany or Arya

Euphemia Isobel

If Daenerys died in episode 3 no one would say she was "set up to go mad" it's a bullshit flip, you could say Arya is more set up to go mad than Daenerys, she's been a murderer since a child and escalates her brutality every kill

Kelsey

I agree her vision at the start was ideal - but as things progressed she became less and less forgiving. There were times she should have given people a chance and chose not to. Dickon Tarly, for example. He was none of those things. His crime was being loyal to his father. She could have pardoned him and chose not to. Didn't give it a 2nd thought. I think her arrival iin Westeros was a rude awakening for her. While she (before we knew about Jon) was the rightful heir of the 7 kingdoms....she faced a VERY different reception upon her arrival. I disagree with the writers for how things went, but I don't disagree that she'd eventually grow to resent the people of Westeros for denying her rightful claim to the throne

Kelsey

And to add, she was so often referred to as the "foreign wh**e" and things like that....she was BORN in Westeros....forced to flee as an infant, and they treated her as an outsider

MateoP

Season 8 is a solid 6/10 🤡📉 6 year wait for this turd 💩

Brett

I think you need a rewatch. Season 2 in the House of the Undying, she literally has a vison/dream of Kings Landing burnt to ashes. This is just one of countless examples.

Kelsey

Respectfully as in I see your point and, for reasons I've observed, I disagree without thinking you're some kind of idiot or anything . Respectfully disagreeing doesn't even mean I disagree with your logic in full. I just see things a bit differently but don't think your view is stupid either.

ken

She’s having a psychotic break. She’s “mad” like her father I’m sure Aerys was decent before he went crazy. I have no problem with her being the mad queen it’s just how you get there

ken

The mad kings actions were not based in logic he was crazy. Danny has gone crazy like her father and so her actions shouldn’t be logical. The decent into madness is what was terribly mismanaged

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

I'm even starting to think that, with George so fed up with how they ruined the show, to the point he was just not even watching and promoting another, he just gave them the most basic points for the ending, knowing there was nothing really for them to salvage anyway. Basically like, here is some stuff that's going to happen, but so basic they just had to make it up and attach it somehow themselves and this is what they came up with and he knew it and it was his sweet sweet revenge 💀 They were excessively combining characters from s1 on, not listening to him anyway when he was there, so makes total sense they just kept doing it, so he just let them keep digging themselves in too deep this way.

Aliir

I have a vivid memory of episode like, 3 maybe, watching you guys react. Ned and King Robert stopping for a hillside meal under a tree. Robert asking about "Wyla", Neds bastards mother. I was so excited for this series. I hate that we are here, in the shitty end game. D&D have said in interviews regarding Arya taking out the Night King that it just "didnt feel right" To have John be the one etc etc. George R R Martin told them the entire story, they all knew who was supposed to do what, generally. They just decided to write their own. They killed 4 to 5 season of carefully laid interactions just to shit all over it. Meanwhile Martin will probably never finish the series at this point. It's probably the biggest media/entertainment travesty/blunder of all time. I don't think the true story of "A song of Ice and Fire" will ever be told. From a reader who started the series just before the show came out, it's devastating.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Yes, if there is one scene I pretend did not happen at all, no way, no how, it's Varys .... what?

Jaqen H'ghar

The disrespect to Qyburn, LMAO. That man deserved a better death.

Enma

They destroyed all my favorite characters' character.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

David & Dan are so used to just gaslighting and manipulating everyone around them to function, they kinda assumed they could just do the same with millions of global viewers. Well said.

Lydia

THANK YOU. she did nothing that would lead to this ridiculous episode

lola

The way Sophie Turner (Sansa’s actress) got mad at fans for rightfully making a petition to redo season 8… like ma’am aint no one paying you overtime to kiss D&D’s ass🚶‍♀️this whole episode was just bottom of the barrel. And yeah I may shit on Dany cause of her stans but Dany’s arc literally went to shit like no one else… it was almost criminal. At the very least, it should have been something that was built up and even though there’s no defending what she did, it’s still very sad to see what she became and how they ruined her character.

Jaqen H'ghar

1:13:44 - my exact thoughts. How Do you fumble something like this?

1999

SHES MUH QUEEEEEN

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Sophie was one of the only actors that D+D hadn't actually been cruel towards, because as a younger person, they could more easily manipulate her perception of them. They did ruin her character, but they actually thought they were showing a smart, confident, strategist. Same with Maisie, she was kind of the golden child. More proof that they are just predatory men.

H

Genuinely one of the worst endings of all time. As a Daenerys stan, you kinda just have to ignore the last couple seasons, and assume the show ended with her sailing to Westeros at the end of season 6 on a high note. If this was the route they wanted to go it could have worked, but there was actually zero development whatsoever, and even though bad things were happening to Daenerys, it was such a giant leap and unbelievable reach to have her burn thousands of innocents given the previous 7 seasons of her character (not even development, literally just her character's core beliefs and actions). It's also just so frustrating that she had every single advantage, and then she lost everything because she listened to the people around her. Every single one of her advisors failed her in a nuclear fashion because that's what D&D's fanfiction needed in order for her to crash out, even if it meant destroying those characters (Tyrion especially). Of course there's also the terrible scenes as well like Rhaegal's death because "Dany kind of forgot about the Iron Fleet" according to D&D. Honestly shocked to see so many defenders in the comments. Just like Carter said, it's genuinely worse than you could have even imagined.

Nonos

Episode was so bad the geks had to start reminiscing about s4 and the good ole days with joffery 😭😭 1:15:25

Dani G

Honestly, I just really don’t see that at all. Dany has been consistently merciful throughout the series. Jorah spied on her for her enemies. That is treason. The penalty for that would have been death by default. Instead she exiled him and later forgave him.  Daario was tasked with the job of assassinating her. Instead of having him killed, she took him as her soldier.  Varys served her despite that he once served on the council of her enemies and sent spies to watch her on their behalf leading to an attempted assassination upon herself and her unborn child.  Tyrion went behind her back when she was away by striking up a deal with the slavers that went against and in many ways unraveled everything she was working for. Not to mention, Tyrion WAS her enemy from the moment he was put in her custody. Instead of sentencing him to death, she made him her Hand. She could have flown straight to King’s Landing. Instead she took up residence at Dragonstone, biding her time, trying to figure out a better way than to seize the throne with fire and blood like all the Targaryens did before her because she did not want innocent people to die. She did give the Tarlys the chance to surrender. They refused.

Jaqen H'ghar

So I am actually a Daenerys show-only fan as I am still working on reading the books. And No, Daenerys fans HATE this episode. This episode completely betrayed her principles. She could’ve had a mad descent due to taking tactical and emotional losses, but that would’ve taken so long to flesh out (preferably). Daenerys fans love her for who she was Season 1-6, debatable amongst some for season 7. I know some of yall didn’t care for her too much, but she was still a very big fan favorite. There are not many Daenerys Season 8 fans. I promise, lol. The love for her character in Season 1-6 outweighs the disappointment for her in season 8. She was still a phenomenal actress in this episodes as well, Imo. It was just shit writing

Lydia

Dany's was the worst character assassination in history. so yes i try to forget this episode exists lol 0 of her actions led up to this point. and before anyone tries to say "nuh uh, she burned that r*pist slaver guy once" pls save it!

lola

All right we’ve all had a laugh but seriously … the only one y’all should be shitting on is D&D… cause there’s no way Jon wouldn’t have wanted to be king of the seven kingdoms. He was happy when he was named the Lord Commander of the Nights watch and he looked proud when they named him king in the north. Yeah he didn’t like fighting but he 100% had at least some ambition. And that right there is just D&D ruining another character. 🚶‍♀️

ssj4rit

Yeah love Kit too but that’s just a dumb take. As if we have to praise something just because people worked hard on it. It’s a sad fact of life but hard work doesn’t mean your business or piece of art will be successful or good, it has to actually measure up to standards. Props to the actors of course for all their hard work (I mean they’re also making millions of dollars so…), but it doesn’t really make S8 good.

Lydia

also i will never forgive them for robbing us of a satisfying cersei death.

Brady

8x6 caption gonna be "🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬"

lola

Alright but he wasn’t the one who shit on fans for making a silly ass petition like COME ONNNNNN. At least Kit knew the hate was coming so he made sure to nip the criticism on the bud but after seeing his reaction during the script reading, literally no one hated the script more than he did. And that’s all I’ll say.

Nanashi

It needed more work, she never seemed mad and this wasn't a time for a switch like that, it came from nowhere. The "I've finally done it but it doesn't seem enough" could've worked but killing ALL INNOCENTS before going directly to Cercei? So so fucking bullshir it's unbelievable. Like, I know writing is hard but DnD makes it look easy, cause you give pen and paper to anyone that watched the show and they definitely come up with a better ending no matter how stupid this person is

lola

Nah it was a dumpster fire… I give it a solid 2/10

Jenna96

Anyone who says this is WAY out of character for Dennerys' character wasn't paying attention closely, or just rewrote it in their minds because they liked her so much. (details below) i NEVER had a problem with season 8 overall...there were a few rushed things for sure! and a few out of character moments from Tyrion the most! but with Dany from the BEGINNING we hear numerous times how every time a Targaryen is born the gods flip a coin,=slight foreshadowing for the possible craziness. we see her freak out numerous times when she is questioned, by Tyrion, ser Bariston, and even from Jorah in the earlier seasons, she has said repeatedly that her way is the best way no matter the thoughts of anyone else, khal droggo's big speech talked about enslaving her enemies and children and raping their women-she looks very proud during this speech and never corrected him on any of it or showed any hesitation to anything he said, she had a vision in the house of the undying of kings landing and drogon flying overhead, and the throne room COVERED in ash(some people argue it is snow but the entire roof was burnt off so obviously it was by fire) just like in the last episode, she hates giving up any power-as seen with even considering letting the north be free from under her rule, she never ever speaks or CONSIDERS it. I mean Dany is one of my fav characters of all time, BUT this was not some random shift in her character, you just weren't paying attention to the subtext and small hints throughout the series, or just brushed them off because all of the awful and brutal things she has done were done to "bad people", so it's fine, I guess. plus, here she has been tipped over the edge from the belief she has been betrayed by those closest to her, realizing the dream she had of coming "home" and being loved as queen has been obviously not true, and the death of another dragon that she believes is her child. she simply has been teetering on the edge for years and this set her off.

Nanashi

She used to feel sick to her stomach seeing innocent people be taken advantage of. No matter how much fear whe wants to impose Danearys didn't even have the STOMACH to do all that, it was never in her character up until that point. No amount of sudden rage makes you fly for 30 minutes burning thousandz

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

This was to fans spamming hate comments only, not to ones actually explaining why they disliked it. He never saw those at that time. Most of the cast were only going to see the unbridled vitriol that randos were spewing en masse. Not the thoughtful takes, that he would have agreed with. He was also probably just trying to make up for calling the shows end disappointing himself because he needs work. He was going to rehab where personal responsibility becomes a whole thing, and they probably weren't going to allow any amount of blame to be placed on his environment the last decade.

Kelsey

I feel like you're seeing her as what you want to see and not what she was. She was only human - she had her vulnerabilities just like anyone else. I don't see her as a villain by any means, but people who didn't see this coming were simply not paying attention (but I will repeat: the show needed an extra 2 or 3 seasons and it was, overall, a dumpsterfire of an ending)

lola

Exactly like be so foreal… in every single interview kit did during the S8 premier, the displeasure in his face and lack of enthusiasm is palpable. He was unable to say ONE good thing about the show. He would always deflect. I genuinely believe that’s why Kit wants to do the “Snow” spinoff so bad… to fix Jon’s legacy and the ending of the show he grew up in.

Jenna96

However, I will admit all the above points SHOULD have been shown a bit slower and drawn out over a little more time. BUT the fact that it happened is still accurate to what we have been SHOWN and TOLD of her character... just too rushed.

lola

this was worse the 2nd time around like how is that even possible??? it’s actually crazy…

Jenna96

so just because she is a women who don't agree with your take she must have been brainwashed and proof that there were predators? come on get real... maybe she just doesn't think the ending was wrong, or worse, liked it... there are women who think that also.

Jenna96

fully agree they just werent paying attention or werent as clever as they thought they were for not noticing the subtext and hints.

MateoP

After this episode the last doesn’t seem that bad now 🤣

Sean Carroll

I was comparing the fall into insanity between eren and Dany and saying that erens was done right whilst danys was done terribly

Sean Carroll

I’d argue tyrions drop off was worse, Dany was always a poor character overall whereas Tyrion was amazing for four seasons

Dani G

Please give me one example before 8x05 where she harmed innocent civilians.

Dani G

What? Before 8x05, she could have went straight to KL and followed in her predecessors’ footsteps. But she didn’t. She took up residence in Dragonstone to bide time because she did not want the blood of innocent civilians on her hands. This was season 7-8.

Dani G

I understand the angle they were going for well enough with the fallen hero trope. A tragic hero fallen from grace after the loss of everything, including her mind, in her pursuit for the Iron Throne where she dies a martyr for her own cause. I’m not necessarily opposed to it. It could have been really good. It’s just that there’s so much missing to connect point A with point Z, it is painfully evident that this was handled with no care or consideration for the character they’d been building up for the last seven seasons. It’s an absolute 180 from the queen we’ve seen prior. Indeed she has shown a propensity for violence and ruthless behavior but it was always framed around justice. Those who met the receiving end of her wrath were always terrible people like slavers, rapists, and war lords. Not civilians. Not children. Not the very people she built her entire campaign on protecting and advocating for the safety, liberty, and rights of. All of this goes against who Dany is fundamentally as a person.

Dani G

She locked her dragons up when one child died. Daenerys has always been vehemently against bloodshed of innocent people. And up until 8x05, she wanted to prevent it or at the very least minimize it. Not one thing in the canon of the actual script has ever inferred or supported the idea that Daenerys condoned the killing of innocent civilians.

Amna 🍉

Drogon looked unreal in this episode. The cinematography was so good in the last two seasons, too bad everything else was like 100x times worse

Dani G

Agreed. Everything D&D got wrong with GOT Isayama got right with AOT.

Nrock23

Why did Ilkago have to catch a stray? He's the goat

Jaqen H'ghar

kinda but not really. I just think his death was super fucking comical. And I was surprised he didn't get a more fleshed out death, considering he was pretty pivotal in Cersei's Queen arc.

Amna 🍉

I said it in the last episode but one of the worst things this show ever did was make sansa out to be a targ hater when in canon she's obsessed with Aemon and Naerys, in the books she's currently palling around with Mya who has targaryen ancestors and Sansa also heavily parallels one of Rhaenyra's son, iykyk. like you expect me to believe the girl who loves songs & fairytales wouldn’t be a fan of rhaenys the conqueror🙄

Dani G

On the other hand, that Arya/Sandor scene was a beacon of light in the darkness. A great send off for a great character and a satisfying conclusion to one of the best relationship dynamics in the series. I really like especially how this was such a pivotal moment for Arya in which she chose life over revenge, which wouldn’t have been the decision she’d made in the past. On the other, the way the biggest villain of the series went out like a snivelling coward crushed by debris, was just so pitiful, lmao.

Teri M

He said he only watched it up to 8x3. He didn't watch the rest

To be honest I kind of always thought that Danerys would end up a 'mad queen' like her father. Just because of how much she would say she wasn't like him and then make claims of bend the knee or die, and then Dario previously saying you're not a ruler you're a conqueror. I just think D+D aren't good writers, so this character turn has just come so far out of left field. Hopefully if we ever actually get the last two books George will do a far better job of this mad queen trope. But I could be wrong

HNadR

Not the Geks denoting the 5 stages of Grief after watching this monstrosity 🤣💀 Cannon- Denial Brig- Anger Jackson- Bargaining McKay- Depression Carter- Acceptance LMFAOOOO

Dani G

“Do Daenerys fans just ignore that episode?” - Yes. We do. Lmfao. Season 8 is not even canon to me.

Lydia

No way. Tyrion had a slow decline across multiple seasons. They drove dany off a cliff.

Laney Tapia

dany's entire character is based on saving or protecting innocents and her biggest most important moment that she has been waiting for her entire life results in her killing and burning innocents... makes complete sense.. this episode is a joke lol but at least the drogon scenes and emilia clarkes acting were great to watch i'm also a dany stan and i do not claim this ending for her in my opinion it just doesn't make any sense, if they wanted to go down the "insane targaryen route" for her they should've started it earlier and planted wayyyyy more seeds. dany always kinda had a temper but as far as we've seen it's been reserved for people who either deserve it or for people that have done terrible things (and eye for an eye) whether you agree with that or not is your own prerogative but that has always been her way. making her "snap" and kill everyone (innocent men, women, and children) is so completely out of character for her even with all the terrible stuff that has happened to her. if she would have lost it somewhat and burned down only the red keep out of anger and to kill cersei that would've been more in character for her, something impulsive and out of anger but not wildly different from what we've seen from her in the past.

ShanB

It’s not the fact that she went mad but how she went mad.. so rushed.. so nonsensical that she didn’t even directly go for Cersei as opposed to burning all the fleeing civilians. I would’ve totally bought into this narrative had they written it more according to how characters would actually behave (Varys would never be caught in his plots so easily!!!) + taken at least a full 10 episode season to get there. It’s so fair that with ser bariston and Jorah gone that she’d have no one to check her worst impulses when messandai is killed right in front of her but shouldn’t that have just made her want to torture Cersei? Guess not . Yikes.

ssj4rit

Yeah I think Carter accepted the downfall way earlier, he’s not even phased at this point lol

Hunter Snider

Imagine if ATLA ended with Zuko reneging on his entire growth journey and rejoining his dad. They did this to Jaime unironically.

Dani G

This was my favorite show for the longest time. Even after the travesty that was season 8, it remained so sans season 8, until AOT rose up to dethrone it. Even now I still love GOT for its first six seasons. But where it had one of the steepest drop-offs I’ve ever seen, AOT maintained a level of quality to rival that of the best of Game of Thrones and could pretty much be held up as an exhibit of how to write a brilliant story - which GOT can no longer boast after the fourth season. It’s just so incredibly disappointing. Attack on Titan became my healing salve for the wounds that season 8 of GOT left in its wake.

Brady

The 2am Dark upload gonna hit different

Micah Seer

Same, my old favorite show was Naruto until GoT but it just couldn’t sustain its greatness and the ending is just comedy, then I watched AoT and it was just on another level. Even though GoT fell off on a historic level I’m so glad AoT exists

Micah Seer

Boys don’t take this the wrong way but watching you suffer this ending as I did is just so funny😂😂 can’t wait to watch the last episode and see your thoughts

Bobby Johnson

People snap. Yeah the timing of the show got all fucked up, but she just lost her right to be Queen, 2 of her dragons which were her children, 2 of her best friends. She lost/never had the love of the People. She crashed out but i dont get why thats so hard to understand

Dani G

It sucks because the good seasons are in a sense ruined for me too now. Like I still love them, but I cannot enjoy them quite like I used to knowing how it all ends. Whereas AOT has eternal watchability value. It is a masterpiece from start to finish and every rewatch hits like the first. It doesn’t depreciate. Not once.

studiogek

The post was scheduled ahead of time…I guess you will have to wait and see if you’re correct 😂

GreetswithJudgement

I’ve had many shows I enjoyed including GOT, long passed, but never did I have an absolute favorite show. Then AOT came along. When AOT is on, I care about nothing else.

Kite

I like how Jaime tries to get a soldier's attention and gets ignored, then just walks right past one

CoLdBITeR

I didn't blame Danny for killing even after the bells rang. They rang the bells after they were losing. If she let those people live they would look for any opportunities to kill Dany when her back is turned. Don't forget most of those "innocents" were the same ones that were calling for people's heads even if there was no proof those people did anything. The citizens of kings landing are bloodthirsty people.

Amna 🍉

Nobody: Mckay: The Peak😏

SirCatelot

Cmon, you have to react to "Inside the Episode" now

Kite

Dany having a crashout might even rival Missandei's beauty 😔

Ladnon

I don't blame her for killing the soldiers, just the soldiers. It would never make sense to take Cersei alive. However killing the men, women, and children was simply too much. She could've flown and destroyed a good chunk of the palace and have her soldiers clean up the rest after, her crash out was kind of out of no where, she had no reason to kill innocents and decimate the city after winning the war. Everything she wanted for the past X amount of years was right there and she just threw it away?? She could've made Cersei suffer hell for years over, burning the city just doesn't make sense. It's soo out of place. And the citizens are "bloodthirsty people" because of who they have as their ruler, at least that's how I see it.

Anthony Rodriguez

The problem with this seasons is rush ending. George asked D&D that they need two more season to show how Danny gradually changed through the tragedy she is experienced instead of two seasons, D&D reduced it to two episodes. They developed her character for 7 season and the character asssasination only took 2 episodes.

Nikita M

"The poor composer that just had to cook" LMFAO even with this garbage he still cooked. Cinematography and score stayed top tier in the show.

Sean Carroll

It’s not that it’s difficult to understand it’s that no matter how much shit someone goes through in their life that does not excuse them to do heinous acts like Dany did If someone that you didn’t know had a really tough life but then killed your parents would you excuse them because their life was hard or would you be furious with them?

Kite

I won tickets to watch the last episode in a movie theater, but did it didn't feel like I won 😔

Sean Carroll

Carter admitted in early season 7 he’s accepted the downfall is coming

CoLdBITeR

Cool, I said my opinion and I stand by it. Best for you not to continue a conversation with a psychotic person, you never know, you could catch it.

CoLdBITeR

Fair enough, if I was Dany though, I'd probably just wipe the whole city without pausing. I'd give them the chance to ring the bells as I took out the archers on the walls, but once I hit the city soldiers I consider the citizens choice that they went down with the ship. There is no way I'm trusting people who for months I've been there, that were calling for my head? Sorry but you didn't ring the bells in time. Why should I spare people that didn't think to spare the soldiers? They only cared to ring the bells once it was their skin that would burn, not the poor men that had less of a choice in the fight then the citizens. Soldiers are honour bound. They swear to defend their royalty to the end, citizens did not have that, they were free to ring the bells earlier and save the army before hand.

Nikita M

I completely agree, Carter. I personally don't like happy endings at all and find them boring but if any show could pull it off it would be this one just from the sheer fact that 90% of the show was tragedy after tragedy. The ending is supposed to be "bittersweet" according to GRRM but it just feels bland instead and a LOT more bitter. The only sweet part is supposed to be the defeat of the Night King but that is so detached from the personal stories of all the characters that I don't really care about that. Not to mention by this episode, it feels like they didn't even exist. They felt so forgettable. Yeah some characters have good endings but it doesn't feel satisfying. I also don't really get the feeling that the world will move on in a better direction after all those innocent people died.

The night is Dank and full of Memers

Arys plan however crazy, wasn't literally counter intuitive to his goals. Dany's actions are completely divorced from her goals. Arys wanted to destroy the city and the enemy armies on his way out, his plan would have helped towards it had he been successful. Dany's goal is Cersei but she decides to lawn mower 1 million innocent people because reasons. Both her character arc up to here, AND the actual logistics of her actions, needed a ton of work.

The night is Dank and full of Memers

Easy fix is if Cersei used remaining wildfire to hold civilians hostage, Dany decides ends justify the means and attacks, the caches all chain react and the city goes up in flames.

Paul Durbin

48:40 Cannon "I mean yeah this is the worst thing I've ever watched in my whole life." Well, if you followed the breadcrumbs since season 5, it's not all that surprising. We didn't arrive here on accident. Arya and The Hound scene was great. That's about all I have to say. Damn I gotta lay off the booze.

Honestly i don't think mad queen is a good plot line regardless of who wrote it, you're telling me by the end of the story that Daenerys isn't any different and is just another crazy Targaryen.

Lexi Mae

there is absolutely no way she’s crashing out like this in the books. Daenerys is the antithesis of house Targaryen. She is the good, the bad, the everything in between. I truly believe she is Azor Ahai and Drogon is lightbringer. She will sacrifice herself in the Long Night as the Mhysa of this world :( Daenerys, you will always be famous❤️

milfnyra mai

she was never a shit character. not in the books or in the beginning of the show. y’all just get on here & lie. go somewhere else with your weird vendetta against dany lovers. i can almost guarantee your a jon fanboy lmao

Zahra A

coming from the one actual psycho in here i have to laugh sorry

Lmao the emojies keep increasing

TheSauceGuy

Also, you can like a character without liking what they've done. My favorite characters are Theon and Stannis, both of which have done terrible things. I'm just glad that book Stannis will likely have an enlarged role. Even if Dany does "go mad" in the books, it'd be framed in a way that makes sense, especially considering she has much more opposition in the books.

Nikita M

I wouldn’t call myself a Daenerys stan, but I was definitely a fan. My favorite characters were Varys and Jorah (and I was devastated by Varys' anticlimactic death). When it comes to Daenerys, I never liked the "mad queen" arc—it felt predictable and dull, especially since people had been guessing it from the beginning. I always expected GOT to have something more interesting and original for the endgame, given how impressive and unpredictable the earlier seasons were. Plus, I don't see the point of the arc. "She's not her father… she's not her father… surprise! She is!" Okay, and? What's the takeaway here? That genetics win out? It feels pretty pointless. I love the idea of a once-righteous and merciful ruler slowly losing themselves while trying to balance the responsibilities of ruling with the temptations of absolute power. I don't have an issue with that concept—I'd actually enjoy watching that unfold. But this didn't feel like that at all. Instead, it felt like Daenerys was backed into a corner by both the characters and the writers, forced to go through a number of tragic events, and prodded until she finally snapped. It seemed less like a natural evolution and more like like a contrived downfall. On top of that adding the "Targaryen madness" just irks me so bad. So it goes without saying, I was super disappointment of where her character went. It felt like years of investment into a story going down the drain. I kind of tried to forget this last season similar to how Dany kind of forgot the Iron Fleet. Honestly, I haven't watched House of the Dragon out of fear of having a repeat experience. And I'm only able to tolerate watching this season of GOT with you guys because it's been long enough where it seems funny to me now. Before anyone jumps in with "BUT THE CLUES! THE CLUES WERE THERE!", I just want to say yes, I saw ALL the signs people point to as hints of Daenerys' "madness." But we also had just as many, if not more, signs of her fairness and mercy. Sure, there were moments where her decisions were questionable, but they were still within the realm of what any ruler in power might do. Nothing really felt too extreme or unhinged, except maybe when she was watching one of the slave masters get burned in Meereen a little too long. Someone said she didn't care or react to Drogo yelling about raping and killing people. What exactly was she supposed to do? Interrupt him in the middle of his frenzied yelling and say, "excuse me sir Drogo I don't condone rape and killing"?? lol She was just caught up in the moment of how much he was displaying that he cares for her. That's how I interpret that scene. Not to mention we saw her go against a whole culture of savages trying to prevent said rapes and killings multiple times. Also, I don't think Emilia Clarke was aware that her character was going in the mad queen direction so I doubt she was acting that way on purpose to give us signs. Most of Daenerys' "mad queen" moments can be explained depending on your perspective. I've seen people argue both sides—whether you see her as mad or justified often comes down to how you feel about her as a character. If you disliked her, you're more likely to interpret her actions as tyrannical. If you liked her, you might understand her reasoning. None of the decisions in her journey so far felt entirely black and white until this last episode, and that's where the real issue lies. Her sudden snap didn’t make sense, as you guys mentioned. I wish she had snapped when Cersei beheaded Missandei or when Rhaegal got shot. She could still have burned the innocents if they really wanted to emphasize that she's truly evil but it would make sense with what we've seen so far. She would still be a ruler unworthy of the throne and a tyrant and a mad queen etc. but it wouldn’t feel like such a complete assassination of her character.

Dani G

Agreed. I love Jaime, Cersei, and Theon as characters for what they bring to the story, but I obviously don’t condone much of what they do.

TheSauceGuy

His death is like a mirror image of how D&D treated fans of the series.

Nikita M

Hopefully but idk I feel like GRRM is even more intimidated to put out his ending now after all the backlash the show ending got. lol Imagine he finally releases it after all this time and it's exactly the same thing. 😂😂

TheSauceGuy

Carter is an Eren glazer but I don't think he'd delete a comment for that alone.

TheSauceGuy

The sword interpretation of Lightbringer is just non-existent in the show. Stannis doesn't wield it, there's no Dawn to be used, and the Night King is killed with a dagger.

TheSauceGuy

I wish resurrection had more impact on characters. Like Jon is basically the same person from before his death. Maybe if Dany died, she could be more cold and uncaring when brought back.

TheSauceGuy

I think as long as you preface that it doesn't represent your beliefs outside of fiction, it's fine to not care or support "evil" characters and villains. GRRM cares about the small folk and wants to portray much of the nobility as arrogant and detached. If you don't care about the small folk, it shows how D&D failed to capture these aspects of the books ig. And yeah, I'd rather you not care about the small folk in this fictional story than defend the genocide in Gaza like so many people (especially Americans) seem to do.

TheSauceGuy

Madness is also just a simplification of mental illnesses and responses to trauma/stress. Aerys was like a paranoid schizophrenic in a way.

Marc Davey

how many times can these stupid brothers say "this is so stupid" and "drogon looks so cool. mcay needed to stfu this whole season contantly saying how stupid stuff is, we get it, we know u have seen it let them fukn have their opinion, mcay and jack just ruin these reactions man and ive been a patreon on and off for while but im done after this one holy shit brig carter and cannon carry the hell out of yous

TheSauceGuy

The voice actors alone will be throwbacks for them. Alt Shift X's videos are really good too, especially "The Real Jon Snow," which they HAVE TO WATCH. Also, a fun little mention to "Ramsay Bolton: Ultimate Kindest Man of Westeros" as I've done countless times. Maybe Cannon could watch it on stream or something, I'd be satisfied with that.

TheSauceGuy

Oh there was plenty of warning for how bad things could be, but not enough to expect this.

TheSauceGuy

A character doesn't have to be this epic W character without flaws to be interesting. Tyrion is a different person in the final four seasons, so I don't blame people for not viewing these seasons as canon to his arc lol.

TheSauceGuy

Also, book Baelish DOES have friends and this works to his advantage since almost nobody expects him to be behind major events. Also, one thing that I've noticed is that many people are only bothered by the deterioration of the "good guys' " characters, while they don't care about Baelish because he's an antagonist.

TheSauceGuy

I've been watching. It's nice to have something to look forward to, considering I'm uninterested in any of the anime they're watching.

TheSauceGuy

The BLACKFYRES! I can't wait for the Geks to get info on them, either via Histories & Lore or A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Also, they already are playing a major role as they're helping Aegon with his conquest and Dany isn't even in Westeros yet.

TheSauceGuy

I think the main thing is that the show doesn't really portray it, especially to this degree until this point. I think the closest we've had is with the Dothraki and Wildlings, which are considered more barbaric. Also yeah, media and history tend to minimize the atrocities committed by one side due to bias.

TheSauceGuy

Nah, Tywin would've been intelligent enough to avoid this situation altogether. Also, "sacking" is not the same as completely levelling.

TheSauceGuy

I disagree, I think he's just struggling to tie together many plotlines. He opened up a ton of new ones in A Dance with Dragons.

TheSauceGuy

Baelor was considered mad because he refused to eat. I think madness is just akin to severe mental illness and/or delusion. I think Aerys II is the only one that would fit what I'd think of when I think "madness" despite him likely having severe mental illness that is worsened by trauma.

TheSauceGuy

Tbf, almost everyone is one-note in the later seasons of the show, not just female rulers.

py

Logout retard who pays to get mad

Amna 🍉

Never said it was? He violates every sacred law and societal norm, which allows him to gain momentary advantage until the world at large decides to enact the same violence on him and his family. I just don't think he is goated as people say he is. Also I think most of the Tywin apologia is Charles Dance's performance massively carrying, lol. don't think people would be going this hard for book tywin

TheSauceGuy

I wish she pulled out a sniper rifle and did a 360 trick shot on Dany whilst jumping out the window. She'd then emote as she falls to her death.

TheSauceGuy

Honestly, if they were gonna fuck over the fan base this hard, at least make it more funny. I'd have enjoyed if they just made it an intentional comedy over what we got. A Looney Tunes standing on air before looking down and then falling would be funny.

Zechree

Your donation to the Gek foundation is greatly appreciated! You will be missed Marc Davey, Goodbye dear friend.

TheSauceGuy

It's also easier to be considered mad when you are a monarch in a feudal society.

TheSauceGuy

The Mad King was actually referring to the show's scripts when he said "burn them all!"

Leo

Hey Sean, What did you comment about my GOAT?

Has

getting angry over a reaction is wild icl, reassess your life

Sean Carroll

I said that eren is an example of a person going insane done right while Dany is an example done bad

TheSauceGuy

Cousin marriages weren't considered that abnormal though. Sibling, parental, aunt/nephew, and uncle/niece are considered odd though. This extends to the real world as well, especially with monarchs.

Leo

My reaction when eren doing rumbling - 😍😍😍 Also my reaction when Dany burning king's landing - 🤮🤮🤮

TheSauceGuy

Dany could become "mad" in an interesting way. I think it's more likely that she just does a lot of morally questionable things in Westeros. I'll agree that Jon is more likely to become "mad" than Dany though, especially if his death and knowledge that he's a Targaryen really change him.

Nomaan

That’s ur opinion Sean😌 but if she was so shit she wouldn’t be the most popular character and relevant to this day.

TheSauceGuy

This is good, it's almost as if she doesn't have to actually be "mad" for people to consider her to be. WHAAAAAT!?

Caleb

If you think this is bad lmao, wait for next episode

TheSauceGuy

Real war makes you question whether or not humans deserve to exist in the first place, considering the suffering we cause as a whole.

Janeth

Imagine getting this worked up over a reaction video..

BloodyBen

Yes, every single innocent civilian was there that day that Ned was beheaded and during the riots, all half a million of them - the children, the elderly, the disabled, the babies, the sick and the helpless... each and every one of them is a bad person and deserves death because there were smallfolk calling for people heads and stuff Do you hear how stupid that sounds? Theres no way you actually believe that everyone in Kings Landing was part bloodthirsty and calling for heads? Again, the population is half a million, how many did you see in that scene when Ned was beheaded? maybe a few hundred? Not to mention how many animals Daenerys killed, how many dogs, cats, horses, ravens, donkeys etc burned alive and in fear? did they also deserve it? along with the children, babies, elderly, and disabled?

TheSauceGuy

Not gonna address your last sentence. Aside from that, not "everyone" wanted Rhaenys and Rhaenyra to crash out. Many people just wanted Team Black's characters to stop being whitewashed. Daemon is like the only one who they haven't portrayed this way, but he's still written weirdly. Rhaenys does absolutely nothing except kill a bunch of small folk at the coronation (for no reason). Nobody mentions or cares about this and nothing becomes of it. She's made out to be this hero and then she dies after having accomplished almost nothing. She injured Aegon and wounds or kills Sunfyre, but that's the extent of her contribution. Rhaenyra is indecisive and her council is completely understandable for being frustrated since she just sits there doing nothing.

BloodyBen

Because no matter what kinda hell you go through you literallty never have the right to ruthlessly murder tens/hundreds of thousands of people and animals, because that is psychotic and mentally ill. "someone poisoned and killed my dog when they robbed me, now I'm gonna lay waste to this city! I'll burn houses and murder families and its justified by my hurt feelings!"

CoLdBITeR

Mate... I never said everyone was blood thirsty, I said most. No such thing as every person innocent, just as no such thing as every person is bad/evil. It's my opinion, I stated it. Saying "know how stupid that sounds?" is incredibly rude to say about someone's opinion over a fictional story. No matter how much I disagree with someone I wouldn't downgrade them. Message me a new comment without the rudeness and then I will read more of it, otherwise we will stop our discussion here. Ty in advance for your time and thoughts. 😊

TheSauceGuy

At least their earlier combinations were sometimes good, like Karl Tanner lol

Caleb

Give us 8x6, lets us get this over with aswell😂

TheSauceGuy

I mean, cramming together everything into two books barely seem feasible imo. I wouldn't be surprised if he splits at least one of the books into two.

Walker11

Nah during Daenerys dive on iron fleet he was saying what’s gonna happen here Cannon replied why are you asking that ? Jack said “ I remember some parts not everything “ which infers he has watched past 8x3

TheSauceGuy

I think it was more of an example that they'd know of. Humans are capable of atrocities and this extends to the "good guys" of war, which is an incredibly simplistic way of looking at things. The dehumanization of opposition and simplification of complex situations is something humanity will never overcome. I think I'd shoot myself in the foot if I was drafted to fight for the US; our foreign policy is nothing short of evil.

TheSauceGuy

Fire emoji makes me think it's more of a joke. Some people just don't take most of the same stances that they would irl when watching/reading fiction. For some, that's also a cop-out though.

lola

Here we go… it’s not because she’s a woman. Pretty sure we are all women under this post. Some people just have the worst takes and that was Sophie Turner in this instance. It doesn’t help that D&D had two golden children on set that could do no wrong in their eyes because they never questioned their decisions. All other actors at one point or another got under D&D’s skin because they demanded certain things from the script and contracts.

TheSauceGuy

She died in like seasons 2-3 if you wanted her to be like her book counterpart. Jon died around season 3-4 if you say the same for him.

TheSauceGuy

Before watching, I initially thought you meant they enjoyed it and rated it 9.7/10 lol.

TheSauceGuy

That's heavily simplifying things. I don't think most people would consider Aegon "cool" for this. Also, I enjoyed HotD giving the smallfolk more screentime with the Dragonseeds. A lot of people do care about the smallfolk and George's work criticizes feudal society and the nobility's arrogance frequently.

TheSauceGuy

Have any of them watched it? It'd be a better show to replace Dark imo.

TheSauceGuy

They don't know her. To the smallfolk, she's just some other conqueror here to bring war to them.

TheSauceGuy

I dislike this trope tbh. We need actors to get more down and dirty like Arya did this episode, or Tyland did in HotD. Too often do characters fight in battles with perfect hair as if it wouldn't be drenched with sweat.

Ante

Release me from my watch Geks, drop 8x6 haha Jokes aside, I'm much less angry on rewatch. I'm just here to watch best boy Drogon fly around and turn the sky red. I turned my brain off long ago.

Andrea Ortiz

Sean, its alright buddy, I promise just because I’m defending a lady that rides a dragon, doesn’t mean i want millions of innocent people to die in real life 😩

kivu_king

the season is cooking 🔥 but nobody is eating 🔥

kivu_king

hoping for some dark or one piece 😍

Andrea Ortiz

But quite honestly, after watching the show a few times, I also don’t think having her dragons and missandei die wouldve made her switch up, I think its the lack of respect they had for her in westeros. The love she had in essos and the respect the people gave her, she felt the need to grant mercy and do whatever she needed to do to keep that love alive. But in westeros, she went to fight for a group of people she did not know, lost one child and Jorah who meant so much to her, and they still had the audacity to go behind her back and try to throne Jon. She also felt like her hand was also betraying her because Tyrion kept giving Cercei the benefit of the doubt and kept being wrong. Point im trying to say is, she felt like the people didnt deserve the mercy she gave in essos because they didnt reciprocate the same respect towards her. I think thats what made her want to burn kings landing

Mama Browsss

Put us out of our misery and drop 8x6 so we can be done with it!

Ayaulym🇰🇿

Show Dany fans are MADDDD at the D&D, this was not supposed to happen. Right up until this episode everyone around her failed her and this episode is where the writers completely obliterate her character.

Albin Limani

Reacting to the absolute peak that is Daredevil after the trash of this season would cleanse you.

redpgps345

you’ll never convince me dude in the tan hat didn’t watch the show inbetween reactions 🤷🏽‍♂️

Rhaenys Targaryen-The Queen Who Should Have Been

I think the best way to react is to do what Carter did. We just should laugh at this level of absurdity. It brings back all the bad memories. A mixture of disappointment, disgust, hatred, rage, feelings of betrayal... I was really attached to Dany and they massacred her character like a vulgar secondary character... Even secondary characters don't deserve that. They destroyed the show out of sheer selfishness, for a Star Wars project that never happened. There's something particularly perverse and sadistic about the way they've handled the end of GOT. Five years on, I still have no answers to give about all this horror...

redpgps345

cersei explained it in season 2… during battle a mans 🩸 is up and a woman would look like a nice slice of 🍰

John

I just think of this episode as a live action fall of shiganshina and it slaps when you look at it like that lol

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

If you've read the books, you'd know it's not possible for him to fail this hard. This takes the kind of incompetence only found with the showrunners. He is taking this long because he's always been trying to do a much better fvcking job telling stories than most.

redpgps345

tan hat with the durant twitter quote 😆

Manny

This episode was soooo goood and well done!! 9/10

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

I said nothing about brainwashing, that's a whole different thing. They are manipulative and predatory people, this is just facts. Sophie probably does like her time on the show and how it turned out for her because the writers only built her up, but who's to say she has any media literacy? lol It's not about gender, many people are fine with the way things turned out from a personal preference, but it does not change the fact that D+D themselves are incompetent writers and hack producers and directors. The mountains of receipts I'm not going to list now (but it's all over every one of my comments) support this. And again, it's way more about her age than her gender. Look into it yourself about how inappropriate they were with the younger main cast, especially the women. As a young twenty something she is going to be more naive and blinded by her work environment, especially if other things in her personal life are peaking. It's not a flaw or fault, just the situation.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Yup even Daniel Portman had good things to say because he is not the type to waste time rocking the boat. And Pod is in my top 3 fav characters.

Mitch

Why do you think I came all this way? 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐

Em

Lord, have mercy. The incessant complaining throughout the reaction made this episode even more painful. Didn’t think that was possible 🤣 I agree with a lot of the complaints, but damn. That was tough to get through. Still love y’all, gonna have to skip the finale though.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

The fans were so desperate for "The Hound vs The Mountain" back in the day; it even got it's own name: "CleganeBowl". There was no way D&D weren't going to give this fan service, but after waiting for so long, and have it happen among this steaming pile of Dragonshit, well... too little, too late.

Zess

This is incredibly sad and embarrassing lol you're acting like they would have loved all of this without the other two being there. Shows how little you view their intelligence while attempting to compliment them lol

NoneOfYourBeeswax

It's an impressive feat of mental gymnastics to delineate an immediate and unbroken path between "signs of impulsive behaviour" and "burning a city and the innocent civilians, women children and all".

Kyōjurō Rengoku

Naa dont make this a gender thing, her WHOLE character for 7 seasons was caring for slaves, poor and innocent people. People react like this because IT makes absolutely NO SENSE for her to go on a murdering streak for hours burning the poorest part of the city when the red keep is in front of her it goes against her whole character. People would react the same if Jon snow suddenly went mad and started killing all the wildlings he cared for in season 8.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Euron was nothing but a pirate and a rebel, from a feckless House on a group of Barren Islands with a history of reaving and raping along the shores of Westeros, but for some reason they cheered him when he rod through King's Landing dragging behind him three women whom they wouldn't have recognised. Perhaps they thought the circus had come to town? They wouldn't have been far wrong, because the show's Euron is a clown.

Sean Carroll

I miss Tywin man…..

KrispyKenny

never get these comments tbh... they are a reaction channel, if something is bad they will complain, if something is good they will glaze. the whole spectrum of reactions is why they're fun to watch smh

Sean Carroll

When you say 😍 does that mean the writing surrounding the rumbling or you enjoyed eren doing the rumbling?

Leo

Obviously writing... He had two good reasons to do rumbling. 1) When he learned about humanity in outside walls. He was disappointed. 2) He had no choice he needs to do rumbling because everyone announced a war against that island.

Lexi Mae

Brig: as a Dany stan from the books but strictly talking about the show, it’s very rough out here😭😭I’ve seen the changes they’ve made since season 1. I think the lack of source material didn’t help. I also think D&D are decent adapters but shitty writers. The decline was very obvious when they ran out of source material and started going for shock value. They think foreshadowing is characters blatantly comparing Dany to the mad king😂wooow great writing guys! But seriously I’m in the phase where I do not accept what they did to her. I think it was Carter one time who said it best, on paper, Daenerys is so epic, and it’s true! They couldn’t handle a story of this caliber. They made it all about the throne when it’s a song of ICE and FIRE. they lost the plot for the very beginning

Sean Carroll

I think worrying about someone being rude to you when you’re alsosaying you’d kill civilians if you were in her shoes is the least of your concerns. Is killing thousands of innocents not rude?????

Leo

Waiting for their reaction to see my GOAT becoming the king of the bloody "six" kingdoms.

jetiLP On Kwok

now you can watch the table read of this episode and see the disappointment from the actor who plays varys in his last scene.

Sean Carroll

I’m talking about an overall character drop off, not the speed of the drop off.

Lexi Mae

Mini theory for anyone interested! (trigger warning gonna be long you’ve been warned lol) : ❤️ I personally think Daenerys is going to bring some fire and blood to Kings Landing but not in the way we think. There is a character in the books called Young Griff, who is claiming to be the real Aegon Targaryen, and no, not Jon 😂😂😂 Aegon (or Faegon as many like to call him bc he’s probably a Blackfyre) as in Elia Martell and Rhaegar Targaryen’s first born child. Varys and Illyrio are orchestrating his campaign, but Daenerys and her dragons are creating a rift in those plans of claim and legitimacy. They want them to join forces. When Daenerys goes to the House of the Undying, she sees so much more than the bs they showed us in the show. She was give a handful of prophecies, one being under the guise “Slayer of Lies”, where she is prophesied to bring an end to a pretender. Many think this could be Stannis or Faegon. Book Daenerys longs for home and family, always thinking of the “house with the red door”💔. I think when she hears she could potentially have family and she’s not the last Targaryen, she will jump at the opportunity. To save some room, I think Faegon will attempt to steal and claim Rhaegal, Daenerys’s most aggressive dragon, born from the sacrifice of scornful Mirri the witch. I do think he will be successful. With this, I think Daenerys will have to slay the false pretender Aegon, and will in turn truly learn the lesson that “a dragon is not a slave”. just because she is Rhaegal’s mother, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a mind of his own. This is the fire and blood I think could be brought to king’s landing, leaving a sour taste of Daenerys in the people’s mouth. I think she will make her last sacrifice as Azor Ahai reborn in defeating the Others with Lightbringer (Drogon). Her sacrifice will once and for all “free” the last slaves, the dragons, who are tied to their riders and their commands, at last creating a balance between ice and fire. She will die, but the people will have a warped view of her due to the sacking of King’s Landing. That’s why I believe had the show runners understood the story, the sacking of king’s landing could’ve come before the Long Night. Even without Faegon. Dany will definitely make mistakes. And those mistakes will have consequences. But to call her “mad” and this stupid Targaryens flipping a coin thing, is so baseless. She is not destined for the throne. She is destined to sacrifice herself as the Mother of the world. Many will try to misinterpret this story, but we the readers will know the truth! anyway, sorry that was long, just wanted to put it out there for anyone interested ❤️ thanks for reading :)

ssj4rit

Side note, the actor for Varys actually has a great head of hair.

Sean Carroll

Popularity doesn’t mean good. Rey from Star Wars is popular but a terrible character

Sean Carroll

You read this persons defence of innocent people being burned alive and you’re concerned about name calling….. priorities man Obviously this is all fiction but it’s still messed up

Sean Carroll

She was great in season 1 I agree, after that she was bad. Don’t remember much from the books, I always kinda ignored Dany chapters because I found that storyline incredibly boring

CoLdBITeR

Didn't realize fiction actually means real life, my mistake. Btw, why do you have a tendency to attempt to fight every person on here? Do you wish to understand others? or is it you feel the need to push your opinions as the only truth and feel upset if people don't agree with you? I've noticed you just might be the only person who seems to write under almost every person's comments. Just curious, if you feel like sharing, which I'm assuming you do.

Dani G

Enjoy! I wish I could experience it for the first time again.

Euphemia Isobel

Please just post the last one so we can start the next show 😭

Lydia

I don’t understand what you mean. Like you think tyrion was a better overall character than dany? Then that’s your opinion lol I was speaking about how her actions here don’t align with her character.

Lydia

But I mean I 100% agree on Tyrion being ruined as well. Went from big brain to no brain lol the random sudden faith in Cersei after everything that happened in season 4 was sooooooo trash

Christophe Monnier

To be fair, Daenerys burning King's Landing was kinda predictable here. The problem here is the execution. There were hints throughout the seasons about Daenerys, especially in the latest seasons. But this should have been episode 9 season 12 not E5S8. I'm convinced Georges had this ending in mind for her but it was done so atrociously that we can only get frustrated by the results.

Michael

What in the resident evil was that fight with the mountain

MaraReaper

Honestly I believe that Daenerys would have had this madness crash out in the books, and that it could have been done really well in the show. Many of the gripes I have with the show I think could have been good if executed properly. Hopefully George has the rest of the story written to be released posthumously, I think he got massively discouraged to finish the books because of how poorly the end of the show went and was received. I think he’d rather go out considered a fantastic writer that never finished than one that ruined his story.

Scinaps

My body is ready for 8x6

r stark

i feel especially bad for emilia. the ending of the show makes especially little sense if you’ve read the books and she read all the song of ice and fire books several times. she loved daenerys’ character probably more than anyone and took the ending really bad. she did an interview where she talked about how she had to speak to her family and kind of be talked off the edge after reading that final script, asking them if they thought daenerys was a good person or not, it was so sad.

Jessica

It’s October I think it’s time for haunting of the hill house 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

NoneOfYourBeeswax

The worst thing was that your end was truly tragic - but D&D had defamed you so much that in that tragic scene people were actually cheering. I can't decide who were dumber, D&D or those cheering viewers.

Griffin

You clearly don't wish to understand others, you want to burn them 🔥

Griffin

To snap, you need a trigger. They gave Dani zero trigger. It makes her character arc inhuman.

Lexi Mae

with her brain surgery and all of the things she went through on set, her and daenerys deserved so so much better than this

NoneOfYourBeeswax

If you literally ignored chapters then you literally didn't read the books. I didn't care for the Young Griff stuff - rank bad writing of GRRM btw to bring in major characters over halfway thru the story, in the (now inevitably) final book of ASOIAF - and the Iron Islanders bored me to the point of stupefaction. But I still read that stuff, because without it you don't get the full story. TL;DR read like an adult, not a child.

Griffin

@Jenna copy pasting your comment is not a good look

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Ramsay, you really need to come to a acceptance that GRRM has no interest in completing the books and we have got all we're going to get. If this has a happy - or indeed ANY - ending, then you haven't been paying attention! ;)

Griffin

It's not that people didn't see the foreshadowing. It's that d&d didn't justify the shift at all. This is not the slow madness that overtakes the Targaryens over decades. This was a split second decision to become the opposite of everything she believes in.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

The Faegon storyline was unneeded in the show, and was brought in so late into the books that it contributed to the bloat that resulted in GRRM being neither willing nor able to complete the series.

Griffin

Her father, just like the other targaryens, went mad over decades. Not the flip of a switch. There's zero justification for Danis assassination. There's no psychotic break, as a break requires a trigger and they haven't provided a single one for her

Richie Sour

Now you know our pain 😭😭

The night is Dank and full of Memers

You can do an ends justify means story easy, have Cersei hold civs as hostage with wildfire and Dany decides she will win no matter the cost. Her actively ignoring her objective (Cersei) to needlessly lawnmower 1 million innocent people is just hilarious clown writing and nothing more. It serves literally no purpose and actively undermines her goals.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Wight Viserion's ice flame had lost most of it's power and range because Drogon clawed/bit off half of his face and ripped a huge hole in his neck.

Frank Stelzl

Do they know Aaron Rodgers was killed by Drogon ?

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Instead they tried to elicit sympathy for one of the most despicable characters in the show.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

Realistically, the Golden Company would have been fighting on Daenerys' side, not against her.

bateman bookworm

lmao i meant the facts that it’s forbidden romance that ends in tragedy being shakespearean not the rocks💀 in general grrm deffo took inspo from a lot of those plays when writing the books

NoneOfYourBeeswax

If they didn't attack the Red Keep, how did The Mountain get to Elia Martell and her Targaryen children?

NoneOfYourBeeswax

"she would say she wasn't like him and then make claims of bend the knee or die" She said that just once (As Daemon did in HotD and people thought he was so cool) in a stupid scene that made no sense and was written with the sole intent of making her look tyrannical.

NoneOfYourBeeswax

I'm curious... why are you named after a type of old sail ship? Or is "Brig" short for something?

Eddy

I forgot how much the last episodes feel like a parody of GoT.

Ana

I don't understand why people can't separate fiction from reality....?

Zahra A

dont need to do a thing you’ve been proving it yourself here for a while now it’s pretty self explanatory actually

Sean Carroll

Not fanservice at all, it was the logical conclusion to the hounds story, it’s all he’s ever cared about so it makes perfect sense

Brett

Dani G she literally crucified over 160 nobles. It was shown that not all of them agreed with the slave trade. Even the ones that did, that was the way of the times. She could have imprisoned them or reason with them but no. She then allowed the fighting pits to remain open. How many dead slaves becuz of that? Right or wrong she went against her word when bargaining for the unsullied and burned/slaughtered more people. She burned the Tarlys when she could have imprisoned them.

Nomaan

And to think that Dany was supposed to be pregnant this season… like the leaked set pictures of her having a protruding stomach. It’s like all the ideas they had were horrible 😂 mad pregnant queen? No thanksss

Ayaulym🇰🇿

Now that you guys are done with GOT, please watch a show that is peak from the first to the last episode: SUCCESSION. It’s genuinely so good, perfect HBO writing with a masterpiece of an ending. It NEVER disappoints. Succession has perfectly crafted mind games, morally grey characters, insane plot twists and INSANE dialogue. Please give it a chance. Succession reactions are also always the best and fun. This show is gonna make you cackle while you watch these horrible billionaires fight each other for a chance to win. A really great show to watch after being done with GOT crash.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

I honestly was hoping she was because that at least would have made the throne room scene have some weight for Jon and maybe us as an audience. Imagine him having to decide whether or not to delete his bastard child at the same time. Love is the death of duty?

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

No it was literally #Cleganebowl fan service. The logical conclusion for The Hounds story was what he told Arya, to not let revenge, hatred, and complacency consume. The "fuck the king", sept building, and grave digging scene were character building to him turning from complacent ways and becoming a more peaceful and connected person. He's very different in the books though, younger, with different layers to his conflicts and journey.

Jsjdifjfjfjrjkeowkhdhf

I have never laughed so hard on Qyburn's death scene. Hahahahahaha What funny

IDC

Getting through your reaction was much harder than getting through the episode. You’re trying SO hard to hate every line lol relax

Sam M

Longshot but I would pay to see yall (re)watch Lost and discuss it at some point

Sean Johnson

No worries! :) I think Euron, Jon Snow and Dany are destined to do something with the whole Azor Ahai prophecy. The Azor Ahai, Nissa Nissa concept is interesting to me. Some people theorise that Azor Ahai is actually the one who brought on the first Long Night and was actually an apocalyptic villain. I love the idea that Histories are rewritten and become myth Davos, in the books, when he was told about the Azor Ahai prophecy by Salladhor Saan - he imagines having to stab his own wife in the heart to forge Lightbringer. He thinks "I couldn't do that, that sounds evil, but perhaps I'm not made of Hero stuff" kind of thing. I think that hints at the idea that perhaps Azor Ahai was not actually a hero, but a villain. Davos character has a lot of common sense and seems to always find the truth about the way things are, not what they seem. I think his perspective on this rings true. Euron wants to be a God, and his character is apocalyptic. He is committing atrocities to "piss on the Gods". He is currently committing mass blood sacrifice in Old Town with both his brother (a Priest) and his pregnant (bastard) wife tied to the ram of his ship!!! He knows the value of rituals and sacrifice and the power it brings him. He has dark Azor Ahai energy... Dany wants to liberate, her story of "freeing the slaves" to me is a seed about her possible future role of liberating or bringing on the Dawn from the second Long Night, she could be Lightbringer (she wields Drogon, who is fire made flesh). Jon Snow, could be Nissa Nissa or is sacrificed somehow to save the world - his blood is both Ice and Fire and his arc relates to the Others. Theres a theory that the Others could actually be expelled spirits from the Weirwood net, and Jon's story from now being dead (he's currently inhabiting Ghost) could be some kind of Pact with the Others due to warging or something with his Stark blood. I think GRRM's main theme for both Dany and Jon is "Sacrifice" they both show a Hero's quality of self sacrifice and have both expressed that throughout the books. Euron on the other-hand is "other peoples Sacrifice" which are opposites. Lastly! Perhaps the Long Night begins because of some crazy Euron ritual and a portion of the "Red comet" that was seen in the second book, hits the world and creates a generational winter which allows the Others to descend south, in the darkness...

bateman bookworm

On one hand you are saying she is wrong for killing the nobles because it was the way of times to have slaves, and then on the other you are condemning her for reopening the fighting pits after the nobles of mereen begged her to for the sake of keeping some traditions. Bear in mind she did not want to do that, but she did because she wanted to respect the culture of the city. She was even going to marry that noblemen to help keep peace. She has always tried to be for the people, who were slaves. She freed them and killed their masters who killed hundred of children as road signs. Sure not all of them were part of it, but that one action does not mean she is inherently mad/crazed or ruthless

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Tbh I don't think many of the combos for side/secondary characters was that bad for the medium, for the main though it obviously added to all these material problems as they went on

Jsjdifjfjfjrjkeowkhdhf

Honestly I blame Tyrion for all of these horrors. I mean he could not have predicted it but taming Daenarys for a long time will only result to this.

Lexi Mae

Ooo i love these!! Thanks for sharing!! these got me thinking hahah That Davos portion is so interesting!! I wonder what’ll come of that! It’s one of my personal theories that Dany was her own Nissa Nissa. Rhaego for Drogo, Drogo for Viserion, and Mirri for Rhaegal. It’s only until Daenerys herself steps into the fire that Drogon’s egg hatches. If Drogon is Lightbringer, this could be brought on by the willing self-sacrifice of Dany. I can’t wait to see what comes of Euron and that damn horn lol… And of course Jon’s resurrection. I hope that him and Ghost sort of merge into one and he wakes up with white hair hahah😭😭 There is a part of me that wants Jon to end up as the Nights King… I’ve seen some incredible fan art of it and it looks so bad ass!! I think Jon is going to be tied into the Last Hero, and the sacrifices of him and Dany are their true lessons!!

Vlad Lena

As someone who has lived in real war for three years now (I’m from Ukraine) this is exactly what it looks like: men turning into beasts. Soldiers on your side and soldiers on the invaders side — both. A rare pro of this episode: a plausible representation of the consequences of war (you can easily replace destruction from the dragon fire with destruction from missiles), the panic of the civilians and the indifference of people of power toward the “small folk”.

Sean Johnson

I love it aye haha - Yes I agree that Dany was her own Nissa Nissa in Drogo burning ritual! I love how GRRM rhymes with these themes in his writings... there are so many micro events that shed light on what may happen at the final climax of the story! He really weaves it all so beautifully.

Lexi Mae

Seriously!! It’s amazing how his writing alone has people like you and me diving so deep into it and dissecting every little thing. That’s kinda part of the reason why i don’t care how long it takes for Winds— as long as he works his magic and feel like it’s the best he can do!!

Sean Johnson

100%! I agree totally, Oh! Thanks for the happy discussion, I almost forgot this thread was on ep 8x5 LOOOOL. D&D did Dany DIRTY

Sean Carroll

I disagree, throughout the whole show he has been consumed by hate for his brother and wanted revenge on him. He recognises that his life has been ruined by this thought process but he is too far gone for it to change him now. He tells Arya not to end up like him and so gives her an out from her path of revenge. He can still be a peaceful person overall through those character building moments but his overarching desire will always rule over him. It was the logical conclusion to his story in the show. I can’t speak for the books as I don’t remember much from them.

Lexi Mae

Same here!! and omg u just reminded me too LMAOO i usually try to block s8 out of memory 😭😭😭

alexis ♡︎

i have the legacy gek tier, which i’m pretty sure = the full package tier but the new op drop is locked for me, and i’ve never had that happen on any of their posts besides juicy watch parties. don’t even watch op but if that was haikyuu, i’d be gnawing at the bars of my enclosure, so i’m wondering if that’s just a mistake?

T

same... save the op watchers please 😭

Heath

Take a shot every time Geks say “classic misdirect” 😂😂

BRO.

I’m assuming the next (& last) GOT drop will be at least 3hrs with all the discussion lol.

Marc Davey

Can none of you read lol I’m not saying the last season was good in saying the boys saying the same thing over and over even tho they have seen it already

zena

everyone knows daemon is a bad person you would expect a lot worse from him i feel like thats why people arent mad but everyone wants dany to be a "perfect" good person

r stark

exactly! she said daenerys was what saved her after her aneurysm, learning all the lines and the dothraki kept her cognisance…. only for that character she loved so much to be ruined in 6 episodes

ssj4rit

Nah man, he died before the downfall so his character can never be ruined. Same with Ned Stark, Robb Stark, etc

The Emerald Duchess

PLEASE PLEASE WATCH THE FEATURETTE ON HBO about the last season. Blame the network. Blame Dan and Dave. The actors can’t be faulted and the featurette is helpful to remind you the show was still good.

Nat Brojeni

Ok don’t come for me I’m just saying my opinion! I think she is like her dad she looses it and Tyrion kept trying to remind and advise her to do otherwise multiple times. But this has been coming since season 2. Also Olena said ignore him ( her hand) and you’re a dragon be a dragon. She kept saying Cersei thinks mercy is or weakness. I think Dani just wanted Cersei to watch while she put her through so much so she can watch the city fall and she can’t just surrender and hide behind innocents basically! She mentioned it earlier that we tried everything but cerci is the villain basically. Just how daemon in HOTD is impulsive and a conqueror she’s the same way! Is it right no but this was coming since season 2. Constant reminder that she is not her father but she was all along.

David J

Whether you love the ending or hate it, you can’t deny this show is still one of the GOATS 🐐

Euphemia Isobel

She's listened to Tyrion's advice since she landed in Westeros and it's all lead to was losing everything, literally she's lost everything listening to Tyrion because he sabotaged her to try to save his sister. Trash writing all around

Jessica

But do you guys think that George had an idea that Dany would eventually go mad? If it was done correctly I think it could have been really really good ngl. But taking everything out of context I think the whole Arya/the hound parallel was so well done!!

Patrick

It just feels like the Gek bros would really enjoy these episodes if they hadn't read in advance that public opinion was against them at the time.

Thicc Thanos

Dude, no. Give them more credit. They don’t need someone to tell them that it is ass. It is self-evident.

Kare

I think her going mad is not why we dislike the way this season ends. Its the execution of it happening. Personally there was no way she wouldve flipped the switch this easily. Her character arc was completly thrown out the window and her turning mad did not make sense especially since she was all for the people the entire time (not sure how you couldve seen this coming since s2 when she was literally freeing slaves and getting rid of tyranny). If we possibly got 3 or 4 more seasons of witnessing her slowly descend into madness after becoming queen that woulve been SO much more realistic. but doing all this shit in 2 episodes is wild

Kare

jack and mckay did not watch this episode before my guy they stopped watching because of how shit the show became. Even if they did ur comment was unnecessary, this is a reaction channel so they will react in whichever way they want

Ben Holmes

If anything it’s better that they knew, it hurt worse not knowing it was gunna be horrible

Ophelia

Tyrion and his familial love/trust in his family led Dany down the wrong path time and time again. He’s smart but his familial connection blinded him. Had she dealt w Cersei early on this would be a non issue. Also Daenerys would’ve never turned into this and even if she at some point did succumb to the “absolute power corrupts absolutely” trope it would’ve happened in a much different way. This was INSANEEEE and sloppy and just dumb and didn’t make sense with what we’ve watched for 7 seasons in regards to her.

Skyz

I mean a lot of viewers hated these episodes as they were airing, season 8 coped hate as it was happening not in retrospect like other seasons.

Nomaan

Hate how people say Dany is having a mad psychotic breakdown like her father… no. Her father was an actual psycho that enjoyed killing people and laughed while doing it. His madness was built up to the moment he wanted to “burn it all”. And he wanted to burn KL because he knew he’d lost and rather take everything and everyone down with him but Dany had literally won with no civilian casualties… I struggle to make sense of this

BloodyBen

Yes, she won with no civilian casualties, and then burned down the city killing tens/hundreds of thousands after she had already won - how is that not psychotic? And when you consider that she burned down KL, burned alive the Tarly's, burned alive all the Khal's, burned alive that guy in Mereen... it certainly seems like she likes burning people. And before you list reasons why any of those people deserve to die lets consider the fact that she could've gave them quick clean deaths, like beheading. Burning people alive is psychotic, and based on what I've seen, she enjoys burning people alive, which makes her psychotic.

Nomaan

How did u want her to kill the Khals she was trapped inside with? And I love how u dismiss the things the people did and expect her to be honourable and give them a clean death? Why should she? The only thing I agree with you is about burning the Tarlys cos that wasn’t smart. The rest literally deserved it up until this point

yio

Your reactions were so entertaining. I'm really happy I rewatched GoT with you guys (even if the last 2 seasons were abysmal)

jase

@BloodyBen you hate dany that much that you are willing to make excuses for slavers, rapists and murderers? you need a reality check and first, they deserved far more worse than burning !!

Sean Carroll

And yet you all love Dany so much you are willing to defend her tyrannical ways very much apparent in this episode… the hypocrisy

Sean Carroll

History will remember Dany as the psycho who burned kings landing to the ground. From everyone’s point of view comparing her insanity vs her father’s would be semantics as she will be remembered as being worse than her father.

Sean Carroll

No it really isn’t. It used to be one of the goats. From season 1-4 this show for me was a 9.5/10 After season 5-8 dropped the show down dramatically it’s probably a 6.5/10 overall. When half your show is great and half your show is poor/terrible than it is truly out of the goat conversation

Nomaan

In what way did I defend her actions in this episode? I’m saying the explanation people and the showrunners gave doesn’t make sense? I’ve said multiple times I don’t defend what she did, I’m just saying it was a dumb choice. It’s not my fault if you can’t understand that from my comment 🤷‍♂️

Sean Carroll

The sign of a great show is its rewatch ability, considering the terrible last two seasons make absolutely none of anything worth it the rewatch has absolutely no value as you know in the back of your head that everything was ruined

Sean Carroll

All the ways we imagined Cersei dying.. all of it leading up to a building collapsing on her… and Jaime ruining his entire character arc and being there with her just makes it so much worse

Amna 🍉

Nope. GRRM has made it pretty obvious that she's an antithesis to the Targaryens. GRRM created her as the first Targaryen character and then created the rest of the Targaryens to support her character. Not only is Dany suppose to be built different bc she's the only full blooded targaryen alive but even as a targ, she's suppose to be built different. Book wise is obvious she won't be going down that storyline

Bellamy Blake

To offer a different perspective, this blogger analyzes ASOIAF against all of GRRM’s other stories. Her posts are lengthy but very fascinating. She points out that Dany aligns with other characters of George’s that turn out to be antagonists. Even the characteristic of being against slavery is something he has used before for one of his multi dimensional villains. I never really liked the idea of her going mad after it’s been teased so much. But I feel like even if she does have a villain arc in the books, it will be much more complicated than her simply going mad. According to the blog, George uses a lot of fire and dragon symbolism in his stories. She said these are always connected with ideas of false elitism and expansionism at the cost of indigenous peoples and environments. https://fattestleechoficeandfire.com/2018/04/10/daenerys-of-fire-silver-and-lilith/

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Edging is on my hard limits list, so I'm considering this a breech in contract.

Ben Chicka

I would have preferred them to cancel the show after 8x3. Everything before 8x4 was a great show. GRRM should have finished his books. As much as people blame the writers of the tv series, I blame him more.

Scinaps

Geks fumbled, could have given us 8x5 and 8x6 double drop finale 🙄

Sean Carroll

Sadly I have had no time to make detailed comments, been a very hectic week for me. If the finale is out Friday or Saturday I will do my ep 3-6 comments in that video

Sean Carroll

Everything before 5x1 was a great show, we got same great moments after that but overall the show dropped in level massively

David J

The ending of this show however bad is still better than 95% of any other show.

David J

And I disagree with you on rewatch ability. This is my 4th full rewatch.

Jessica

Still tho it didn’t drop massively with 5-6. They are still good enough. It really flopped towards end of 7 and the rest is just not got for me. I just watch some scenes. I can’t even watch their reaction 😭 I just skipped to all the arya and hound scenes for this

Alexa

Tyrion releasing Jamie made literally no difference but still Tyrion has made some dumbass decisions

Seth Aasland

“i’m not here to be queen of the ashes.” 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀

Niklas Neumann

Varys did nothing wrong! I demand justice for Varys!

lola

I ain’t reading all that… sorry that happened to you or good luck I guess!

lola

I want you to take a hint next time 🫶

lola

This isn’t an argument worth having LOL Sophie can say what she wants and the fans can criticize and do what they want as we have and will continue to do so.

Erika Bade

I always thought they could have easily hid in the giant dragon skull. We see next episode it’s still there, right next to them

G

I don’t think they’re gonna finish it😭😭

Nomaan

Edging us with the finale 😭

HNadR

Sean is having the biggest "I told you so" moment in history right now, alongside Varys lmfao 🤣💀

Brett

No, I’m explaining her hypocrisy between crucifying the nobles, only to allow the fighting pits to stay open. Regarding the nobles/masters, she did the same thing they did. So how does that make her any different or more just than the masters. She was the sole decision maker when it came to the fight pits. I don’t doubt that she cared and had good intentions, and I’m not condemning her for her actions. I’m simply showing that she escalated over time. “Sure some were innocent” lol so u agree with my point that she killed innocents before season 8 episode 5. That was one of my points to someone who said “she would never kill innocent people.”

Brett

What a joke of a comment lol. Yes there should have been 2 more seasons to flush it out. Your argument of it making no since is laughable. Almost every “mad/crazy” persons actions are ridiculous and unexplainable to the clear headed. Example, the Mad king. She lost two of her “children”, lost her closest two advisors, was betrayed by her other advisors, was losing her claim to the throne and lover, she felt no love/respect from the people she devoted her entire life too. All while wilding the most powerful weapon in the world (dragon). Tell me you could go through all of that and stay sane. Rewatch the show.

Jenny D

I wonder if their Outro for this ending will be long. I know I ranted about it for a while after I first watched it

G

PLEASEE GIVE US THE LAST ONE . I’m bouta eat lunch

Sean Carroll

Not really, I mean I knew it would happen considering how inevitable it was but I’m not proud or anything and don’t plan on gloating about it

Euphemia Isobel

People told them everything after 4 is bad and they loved season 6 so this is false, season 8 is genuinely horrendous

Frosty

Yeah it was really rough, this is by far my favorite reaction channel but that might’ve been the worst piece of reaction content I’ve ever watched

GreetswithJudgement

Nothing else compares. Have fun and I hope to hear from you after you’ve experienced the journey! Please avoid spoilers! This is one of the easiest shows to get spoiled but usually the AOT fandom are pretty good at keeping quiet. Avoid comments and watch by yourself if possible. Focus is key! 😊

Shadow

Idk Leo i feel like really enjoy danys burning of KL cuz u were spoiling it months ago

Leo

Shadow, that is the dumbest take I have ever seen and I'm not surprised because it's you.

Skyz

Damn they're edging us hard right now

Mike Donohue

I just finished 5 please bless my night with 6

Dani G

I love the show so much, I spent 400 dollars on a scout jacket for myself and I wear it EVERYWHERE!

BloodyBen

All hail King Bran

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Do we have to wait until people get back? Can anyone tell us? 🥺

Shadow

Leo why am I not surprised u couldn’t pick up on some sarcasm🤦🏼‍♂️ well maybe cuz the spoiling part is true. One of your first comments in the gek Pateron being a spoiler was definitely… very smart

CoLdBITeR

Carter "we need Deanerys to blow fire on this entire kingdom 😫" S1 EP8 The show "I gotchu👌"

Jenny D

Has anyone heard anything about when the final episode will drop? Have they said anything on their streaming site?

Scinaps

They dropped a new DARK before giving us 8x6, I call a riot 😬😤

Scinaps

I dont care about people opinions of either, I just want to finish watching the reaction I'm paying for ;)

Al Boxley

I can’t believe their capture crashed and we won’t be able to see the first watch of the final episode naturally😭. Nah I’m just trolling lol but now it’s easier to wait because it’s not the worst case scenario :)

Thomas Strunk

100% have to acknowledge that... as awful as the writing is, this episode might be the absolute best visuals I've ever seen in a TV Show/Movie. 10/10 honestly in that regard

I❤️movies&tvshows

Since they have already finished the show. We see in episode 6 that the room tryion goes into and picks up the torch from the floor in, is still there. All they had to do was stay there and they would have made it. Such bad writing.

Griffin

Blaming GRRM is crazy 😂 He outright told HBO he would not have the books finished before the show caught up with them. Everyone involved knew this from the beginning. He wanted to be involved in the later seasons, but D&D cut him out completely.

Griffin

Sean, your numbers never match your words. In what world is 6.5/10 “terrible”?

I❤️movies&tvshows

I went over to some of the other posts trying to figure out what was going on with it. Carter is in Hawaii not coming back til tomorrow. So it seems most likely it will be a few days until it gets finished

Jenny D

That's what I thought. I'm wondering if the editing is just taking longer because they had so much to say in the Outro or something like that. Plus they dropped three video reactions today.

Blaine Ashe

They can see and commented that at this point if the writers gave time for Dany to cook and crash, the arc would have worked. She needed more time to turn into her father. Then we needed an entire season as the mad queen.

Sean Carroll

Learn how to read. When half your show is great and half your show is poor/terrible than it is truly out of the Goat conversation. Again learn to read. I didn’t say 6.5/10 is terrible, I said that it used to be one of the goats and because of the terrible last 4 seasons the show dropped to a 6.5 overall. A 6.5 is considered an ok show overall

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

I ultimately think George wants to emphasize that Targ rule also bad (just as anyone else) because the of the greater message about ecosystem and humanity. I do think Dany, Jon, all characters will have significant roles in breaking the structure to usher in the new harmony.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Ok well heads up upfront like this might be nice. Afaik there was no pause on stuff and an upload was scheduled. Things change, but I'm a 'planner' and can't do that sufficiently without the necessary info. Just me things 🤷🏾‍♀️😁

Scinaps

They admit to presheduling the post ahead of time (see below on these comments on Tuesday) - they're dragging it out

Scinaps

They admit on Tuesday (scroll down in this comments section) that the post for 8x6 presheduled and we'll have to "wait and see"

Scinaps

They admit 8x6 is pre scheduled look at their comments below on Tuesday

Jenny D

I didn't see a post from them on Tuesday. I saw they replied to a few comments, but nothing confirming that. Someone else said that on their Twitch on Monday they said Tuesday or Wednesday which has passed. But, they haven't said anything recent about it.

Scinaps

My bad Tuesday morning german time, so like Monday evening utah time I guess. Look for the comment under the user Brady who joked abut the use of 🤬🤬🤬

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

this was my last low stress week for awhile where I can focus on other things, after Sat noon it will feel like every other task 😂

Jenny D

Oh, lol. I'm in Pennsylvania so that makes sense. Speak of the devil they just posted the episode

Scinaps

Without someone returning from vacation or saying anything, just confirms it was preplanned, ie my point.

Socorro Viernes

Carter being the only one understanding why she's crashing out was an unexpected surprise, because since the beginning he was always iffy on her

Patrick

"I bet they're alive" has to be the dumbest thing I've heard in my entire life.

victoria t

And now they all know why we hated these final eps

myron

jons the best character lmao until this seasons, even in the books hes the best

myron

yup even i knew when watching years back im glad i knew

Matt Haloostock

Apart from the obvious flaws, it's disappointing that we don't get to learn the significance of the Golden Company in the show. There is some pretty cool lore behind them in the books. In short, they are originally a group of Westerosi knights and fighters that were banished from the Seven Kingdoms bc they supported the wrong Targaryen. Some of the members want to redemption.

Jackski

The problem is they foreshadowed all of this but rushed it into 6 episodes instead of 2 seasons

alternia though

Finally braced myself to watch this and I have to say, every eyeroll and disappointing comment by Carter fueled me and was the only reason I was able to finish it lmao. I've never felt so vindicated.

BubblePriest

How can Drogon produce that much explosive fire? What XXL Chimichanga did they feed my boy?!

Jake

Lmao yes dany fans forget about these episodes. It’s a complete disgrace what they wrote for dany and almost all of the characters in the end. I’ve never seen a pair of writers fumble so hard with an ending before. I physically cannot accept it at all 😂 never have i been so pissed at a show before. Her actions make no sense, Completely out of left field, I don’t care what trauma happened it don’t make sense. Night king should have been the end of the story. Shit hurts my head so no these episodes do not exist 🫢

TrueCrisp

Good thing Jorah isn't around to see this
