They didn't mess up the points. After the first set, the teams switched sides, which meant the scoring also switched. In the footage used for us watchers, the school names are subtitled, so I don't know if what the Geks are watching didn't have them or if it was just that Brig got used to how the scoreboard looked. Hope this helped!

I agree with Brig. Seeing a Shiratorizawa vs. Aoba Johsai match would have been awesome. Even though we didn't see the match, we actually saw the score in Season 1 Shiratorizawa beat Seijoh 2-0, but the set was only two points ahead. So I would say it was probably a close set.

Why isn’t Hinata on the court? ：Because in Karasuno’s rotation, they alternate the libero (Nishinoya) and middle blockers (Hinata and Tsukishima). So, if both Nishinoya and Tsukishima are on the court, it means Hinata won’t be rotated in.👍🏻

so excited for the rest of the season!! also ik a lot of people watch sarah pavan’s haikyuu reactions, but if you didn’t know (i didn’t for the longest time idk how), she is literally ushiwaka 😂 like 6’5 lefty oppo fucking unit. i respect her sooo so so much because when i found that out, i watched the ncaa 06 ship w nebraska vs. stanford.. holy shit that woman is good. she was named the tournament’s most outstanding player, and she won player of the year that year. AND she was espn’s academic all-american TWICE cus she got her degree in biochem w a 4.0 when she played at nebraska. fast forward to 2019, and she wins a gold medal at the beach vb world championships. sarah is an absolutely ridiculous athlete and volleyball player but her reactions to ushiwaka are so funny cus she’s kinda like “wait guys that’s me 😅”

Great reactions! The manga is finished. The anime isn't though. There is one more movie coming up, and I've heard rumors of possibly more because the manga is pretty long. The first set was rough, but I think if they try anf balance more between defense and attack they should be able to pick up the next set. I didn't like how Ushiwaka was downplaying Hinata's skill. Hinata has come a long way from the first season. Looking forward to next Tuesday's reaction.

Idk if someones already mentioned this, but: The Benkei thing: in the real legend of Ushiwaka, he had a partner/right hand i think and that guys name is Benkei, so Hinata assumed hes like the Benkei to the real Ushiwaka. The score thingy: In the second set they switched sides, so Karasuno did get that point, it wasnt a typo. Their score is now on the left side on the board!

They didn't mess up the points (it would be troublesome for animators to mess up how many times in an episode). They switched sides of the court, so the scoring board is also switched. So be mindful when looking at the scores, you should see the names under the scores so you won't be confused.

The reason Hinata isn't in for a lot of points is because of Nishinoya. Noya only plays on points where they are receiving the serve. Because of that, he subs in for either Hinata or Tsuki, depending on who is in the back line. So their normal rotation has Daichi, Tanaka, Asahi, Hinata, Tsuki, and Kageyama in and Noya swaps out for the weakest backline player whenever they receive serves. So the middle blockers are always going to be your weakest backline player.

just a few points. For Brig: The reason their families don't turn up to games is because Japanese work culture is seriously intense and it's very difficult for parents to get any time off work let alone to attend school events during the day time. The reason Hinata wasn't starting is simple... the total defence tactic relies on the three tallest/strongest blockers and Nishinoya working together to counter Ushijima's attacks. Hinata just wasn't included in that strat. He might be the star of the show but our boy isn't the star of the team just yet so he isn't always prioritised to play depending on the situation. Jack getting annoyed at Ushijima saying things like "Baseless confidence" made me chuckle. the thing is... he's not lying. Hinata went up to the top player in the prefecture and proclaimed he'd beat him when Hinata and Karasuno were yet to show any results XD. I honestly believe Ushiwaka is neuro-divergent. He's literally just stating things that are factual in a very blunt way (whilst heavily lacking in typical social awareness). My foster brother of almost 20 years had autism and there's so many behaviours Ushiwaka presents that remind me of him sometimes. And lastly for Canon. The manga has finished already sadly. There's season four of the anime out currently and I Believe the new movie which continues where season four left off releases on Crunchyroll today.

The straight down shot hinata used during warmups is just to show off his athleticism and speed as well as kageyama's speed and precision. Trying to hit hit straight down and "bounce the ball" like in warmups against good/equal blockers will get you stuffed most of the time because the trajectory is straight into the block rather than around it or trying to hit off of the block for a wipe which is a more common playstyle for shorter/less powerful players. It looks flashy and cool to spectators to bounce the ball like always going for a poster dunk or a logo 3, but it's pretty much only possible when there's no block, the block is super late, or you're ushijima who has the vert, skill, timing and hangtime to hit over the block against most highschool level blockers. The best spikers at the highest level going against triple blocks at the highest level try to aim for very deep into the court or constantly go for wipes, but highschoolers love to try the hit the ball as hard as possible and try to bounce it as a flex.

Benkei is also some sort of warrior back then (like Ushiwaka); some legendary Japanese lore of a man who is taller than most people and had darker skin. Benkei is Japanese but didn’t look like the typical Japanese man and he was super strong so he became widely known. When Hinata saw him he thought to himself, “oh a Benkei” - meaning “a Japanese dude who has Benkei’s features” but then his teammates called him “Leon-san”, that meant he’s not Japanese/not full Japanese, thats why Leon said “sorry to shatter your dreams”.

the point that daichi scored(starting the second set) actually did go to karasuno! if you pause and look at the scoreboard the team name is there, they switch sides after each set. if your screen doesn't show you the names, it helps if you memorize what the first character of karasuno's name looks like.

I love how they start missing Hinata the minute he's out of the game lol. But I personally love it when Hinata is not in the spotlight all the time tbh. The Seijoh game highlighted Kageyama as it should have because of his whole thing with Oikawa. We got to see Daichi vs Oikawa, which was so dope. Tanaka got some love as well with that epic save. And now during this match, we are seeing a whole new strategy being implemented of total defense with Nishi being in the limelight along with the blockers. Hinata is not the best player of the team, so it's realistic for him to not be involved in everything. I love Hinata, but I ain't the biggest fan of shows that are too centered around the protagonist.

Last thing I’ll say about Oikawa: You know you’re the goat when every player wants to either be on your team or beat you. And it’s true Oikawa in Shiratorizawa would be crazy. BUT he would’ve hated it. He wouldn't be able to play the way he wants to or build a team the way he did. With Shiratorizawa the setter just exists to get the ball to the ace and that's it. Call it pride, but Oikawa would rather play with a team he is proud of rather than just be on the strongest team.

Shiratorizawa is my favorite opposing team on the show besides Aoba Johsai. the characters on this team are more fleshed out in the manga, but what we do get on the anime is compelling, too. you'll probably like Tendou more by the end, he's definitely a grower, but he is really well-written and fun!

the Seijoh finale is incredibly moving, because you get to see just why Oikawa wouldn't have wanted to go to Shiratorizawa anyway. he wanted to beat them, sure, but he wanted to do it with HIS team, with his FRIENDS, mainly Iwaizumi, but also the rest of the team as well. it's a testament of his loyalty to those he loves, and his playstyle and growth wouldn't have been what it is now had he gone there.

Tendou(lanky red hair guy)! Imo, if Oikawa is the ultimate villain for people in this show, Tendou is definitely up there too lol. Hoo boy season 3 is a ride gentlemen, strap in. Also, just to reiterate, Ushiwaka is the nickname for Ushijima Wakatoshi combining Ushi and Waka from his name. That being said, the name "Ushiwaka" is the name of an ancient warrior from Japan. So it's like a double meaning.

I love how cannon is so concerned for hinata spending energy biking to school but dw its a good warmup and exercise for him XD plus let me tell you, the interval for the bus (not even busES) in karumai (the area where haikyuu locations were inspired by) is really unpredictable. I remember visiting that specific haikyuu town and there was no one on the bus except me and my friend for almost the entire journey. And also, before we got on the bus at the train station to get there, we had to go FIND and TALK to the bus driver personally and tell him we wanted to get there. We also had to double check if the bus was even coming or not with the locals jic it didnt show up when we were leaving the town 😂 So yea, might be better for hinata to rely on his good ol bicycle instead

"Who is Benkei?" Well, if you guys remember, Ushijima's nickname is Ushiwaka, which is the childhood nickname of a legendary japanese warrior. Interestingly, Benkei was that same warrior's right hand man! The reason Hinata thought to himself that the player from Shiratorizawa (Leon) has to have the name Benkei is because apparently, he looks pretty similar to the old sketches of the actual Benkei, AND also because Ushiwaka and Benkei's names usually come as a pair, so since Ushijima has the nickname Ushiwaka, Hinata nicknamed the player on his own. And judging from how one of their own team (the redhead) was speculating that Hinata must have given that nickname to his teammate, it seems like this isn't the first time that people have referred to Leon as Benkei HAHA! Also!! To clarify your confusion about the score at 50:15 onwards: I guarantee it's correct haha! They didn't make a typo or a mistake in the anime (unless the footage y'all are showing us is different from what you're watching). The point that Daichi scored after their synchronised attack did go to Karasuno. It's just that when they started the second set, they switched sides on the court, so now Karasuno's score is depicted on the left side of the yellow flipcard that says 2 and Shiratorizawa's score is on the right side, which is the opposite of the previous set. So it's right, because the scoreboard says 1-0 (Karasuno-Shirtorizawa)!

The way I screeched in indignation when y'all said he's like Hisoka cause ain't no way my boy is being compared to a serial killer with a kink for fighting strong people JKBHBWHJb Shiratorizawa is my personal second favourite team haha! I love their dynamic, especially when Tendou is involved. He's very goofy and his silly antics make me laugh a lot. I also really love Ushijima, esp his deadpan attitude to almost everything (jokes, non-jokes, normal talk). I can't wait for the next drop because ohhh boy there's gonna be a shit ton of exciting moments to come! Btw the manga for Haikyuu is completed! It was concluded sometime in 2020, which is insane considering how popular it still is 4 years later. The fans have really looked forward to the rest of the series being animated, and ofc, so have I. Furudate's ending for Haikyuu is probably one of the most satisfying, heartwarming endings to a manga ever ngl. At least, that's what I've heard from those who finished reading it. I'm still saving it so that I don't rush myself into an early death craving more content HAHA!

guys i know this has been said but i really hope u guys will consider watching the intro!! this intro is imo the best of haikyuu, spoiler free, and truly gets you hyped up for the match. i believe that watching it now and not later is best BECAUSE in the intro you are made to feel part of karasuno, looking up at shiratorizawa, an insurmountable mountain. you are fighting alongside the boys, giving your blood sweat and tears. it's absolutely incredible and still gives me chills to this day. please consider!!
