The end of the year ranking is going to be wild 😂 I only have a top 5. The shows in it are the only shows that deserve my undivided attention. Dark is in it. Though much is peak, many things can be great but not everything can be a masterpiece. Of course this is my opinion. Call it subjective thinking if you will.

I'm fairly certain I skipped this episode on accident. I have no clue how I managed to do this without having noticed. I felt some things were off when watching episode 6, but I guess I was too tired to check. What a huge episode to skip too lol.

The thing is Dark is more logically consistent than Back to the Future. Back to the Future doesn’t seem to know if it wants to do branching timelines or something like Dark where the past and future happens the same way. Like Marty changes the future so that his family is rich, but he also ended up influencing Chuck Berry by playing Johnny B Goode, which always existed. Still a good movie.

For me Ulrich the most tragic character of whole show. Other characters at least lived and tried to change something, he was locked in a madhouse for 33 years. Even Mikel and Jonas’s the fate seem more attractive. And about Alexander: if you know world history well and look closely at his real name, you can guess where he is from. I got it almost immediately, although, honestly, I don’t remember if it was confirmed later in the series.

In Canon’s second theory about time travel , where only the conscious travels back to youngerself, I think there won’t be the same future to travel back to. And if time difference is very significant, if you travel to the future the life you would have might be entirely different. It could be good or it could be so much worse. It would be a blind travel.

That’s a good point about Alexander. Also we hear sirens in the first scene we see young Alexander so if he does come from a different time he’s been here long enough to seemingly commit a crime at least

I wonder if it's possible for someone to be their own grandparent? Like genetically that might be possible, but super unlikely of course. Could somehow one of the daughters meet Noah in the future and then have Charlotte? That's probably too far of a reach though

In regards to the type of time travel, The Butterfly Effect and Erased are versions of the "inhabit" a younger version of yourself and rewrite past events.

Yeah so Charlotte and Peter have Francisca and Rebecca? One of them and Noah have Charlotte. And the cycle repeats. I know genetics is way more complicated than just half of each your parents. Plus if they share genetic traits, the likelihood of them being passed increases. Now who are Peters parents?!

♾️🧐🤔 In s1 I think on like ep4 of my own watch I paused to get something and while walking I thought to myself "this show is like BTTF but ... dark haha. Now I think that's how the writers came up with it, but it's pulling from several sources/references, with it's own little twists. I agree with Carter that the only ones that make sense are this or alts, but the most fun to me is BTTF. I'd want it to be that, but alts really only make sense, if anything. Cannon with the Kitty Pryde travel reference tho is definitely second fav. I'm pretty sure that next is my fav ep too, but as I said I forgot everything lol

Not going to get too into the weeds here cause it's kinda way too much, but there are technically ways to interpret everything we've seen so far, and for there to still be the possibility of events changing. It gets into a bunch of different dimensions, and how far you want to consider them tho, hence why I'm not going into detail here. Personally I'm not a big fan of most changeable-past time travel ideas, but some are definitely really interesting, and do allow for everything we've seen so far.
