I love Harry Potter since the books came out when I was a teen but for me it was all about books, the movies are mid to me, especially past 4th, the books became so long and they cut like everything to make it fit into one movie.

The first movie I ever watched on the cinemas (as a kid, I only watch movies thru DVDs at home. yep, I am that kid who was afraid of the dark and refused to enter the cinemas because it was dark hahhahaha). The movie doesn't make this clear, but 1st years aren't allowed to play Quidditch because they're learning to fly. McGonagall had to get an exception from Dumbledore to allow Harry to do so. Also McGonagall sends in the broom order because 1st years can't order their own brooms, but the money for the broom is deducted from Harry's vault. So Harry does pay for.

The key being left in the room had nothing to do with Quirell leaving it. In the book the keys are enchanted where they can't leave the room. And the movie omitted the final challenge, which was deciphering Snape's potions.

I didn't grow up in the US so my first time watching it was with Russian dubs (on VHS) and I remember being terrified of the unicorn scene 😱 so I don't blame Brig for being afraid to watch it. RIP to Alan Rickman (Professor Snape), he was married to my Grandma’s cousin. When I was 8, I met him at a family reunion and my cousins and I followed him around begging him to do the Snape voice, he finally turned around and said “20 points from House Gryffindor………Potter”. I must have made at least 4 new email addresses when I was 13, to take those quizzes again and again. I kept trying to get Gryffindor, but I kept getting Ravenclaw, I even searched on the internet for hours to find the answers to get Gryffindor. Of course, the Harry Potter saga has its flaws, but —as Carter said in the discussion— it captures that special feeling of wonder and cozy familiarity like no other. Whenever I rewatch the movies, it always feels like reconnecting with an old friend. Also, I'm obsessed with how some of you have so many lines memorized and recite them while watching—I relate so much and it makes these reactions even more fun! it kinda is a crime that u have not seen it (nah jokes aside - the world isn't crumbling bec u haven't) but these are def movies/books that aren`t a waste of time and def deserve the hype and fame it got. Especially bec the hype and love for this franchise is mostly bec of the world - the characters are 2nd ranking, like the cherry on top to it all. The movies are not that long and they will only get better as Time goes on in the movie (like when Harry gets older and so on) Ofc I could be that at the end u would say - u didn't enjoy it or didn't like it - but that u can def say for sure that this wasn't for you.

I gotta say Cannon and Carter are completely wrong about Quidditch rules. The game definitely only ends when someone catches the snitch, its the entire point of the snitch. If a team is up 160-0, and the team with 0 catches the snitch, it becomes 160-150, and the game ends. I don't remember exactly when, but Harry faces this exact dilemma and has to wait to catch the snitch until after his team is down by only 140 points to win.

"Nawt me! Nawt Hermione! You!" classic. I remember when this movie came out in 2001, I was 9. I had already read all of the books that were out at the time, I was borderline obsessed. I had a Harry Potter themed birthday at one point with wands and everything. Also Brig I totally feel ya. I'm a giant sissy when it comes to scary stuff. I HATED haunted houses when I was a kid, still not fond of them now, and I don't watch scary moves or anything either. What's funny about that too is, I ended up working at a haunted house for a couple years in my mid 20s (I'm 32 now).

I have seen the first 4 movies in bits and pieces like 20 times. I lived in Russia, so the translation came to us a bit later. And we randomly caught movies on TV and watched from the moment we found it. So I was never into it, I never knew the whole storyline. And then when I moved from Russia, children in my hometown were obsessed with the show. And I hated it for not knowing it. Also there was no internet or disks, so I couldn’t watch it to catch up. Watching it now, it feels so simple and cheesy. I wish I watched it when I was 10-12 years old. I would have been obsessed with it

Finally finished. Really good movie I enjoyed it a lot. I haven’t really been spoiled on anything which is pretty hype for me.(MINOR SPOILER for the movies, I know vold has to get his horcruxes to get his power back but that’s basically it) I agree with brig tho I’m kinda shocked that we’re gonna have 7 more movies full of content but I’m excited nonetheless. I have one thing I’m confused about tho. Quirirel said that snape followed him and began not to trust him. So why wouldn’t snape just kill or report him? Why would he allow quiril to continue scheming if he knows he’s sus? Anyways I’m excited to see voldemorts full power it’s giving Sukuna gaining all his fingers to fight Yuji vibes. I guess it depends for a lot of people it was scary. Hereditary wasn't really my favorite. I do like the collector, the stangers(original), and speak no evil(both versions). Speak no evil especially did a good job of pissing me off in their decision making.
