emmy

emma.bean

oh gosh... idk if i am emotionally prepared to relive this episode 😭

DiPo

pipipi 😭

bateman bookworm

omg how did i just realize ji-yeong is the same actress from mr plankton?

jblakk

Brig and Cannon! Eyes off my wife.

bateman bookworm

sang-woo took advantage of ali’s naiveness and willingness to put his blind trust in sangwoo because he was a foreigner and thought sangwoo was really smart. He took advantage of his ignorance

Romeo_is_alone

I remember raging at sangwoo the first time i watched this lol It hits just as hard

bloartle

o7 king

Monte

This is my fave episode of the show so I’m glad you guys enjoyed it!

Vixen

Long live Ali, Jiji, and Ji-yeong o7

Amoni Finau

When Heretic comes out yall gotta react to it! Such a good movie

Nikita M

Even though Ali is the saddest, the girls hit me the hardest.

Mitosdomain

Idk how you guys kept it together this episode messed me up😭🤧🤧🤧

Kim555

I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when this episode was out. I cried from my heart alone in my bedroom for an hour. Ji-yeong destroyed me, she's so real for that

gomin

crying again watching this

Super Novice

Such a tragic episode

Huewi

I remember crying my eyes out for hours when I watched this episode for the first time. Safe to say this episode broke me again 3 years later.

safaricat

Ali's and Il Man's deaths really hurt but Ji Yeong definitely hurt the must for me. Hers is so relatable not the parents part but the not knowing what you could possibly do afterwards or where you'll go after a horrible situation. You can't help but compare what you think is in your future to what you see in someone else's Just remembering a husband and wife went in there together too makes my heartache.

Ante

Not gonna lie this hit me harder on rewatch than it did on first viewing. Think I just wasn't dialed the first time.

1999

Sang Woo has black air force energy

leah

this one is rough

Andy tee

I agree. I was angry about Ali but I cried like a baby at Ji-Yeong's death the first time I watched this.

𝓓𝓪𝓷𝓪

man.... I feel you Jack... I was sobbing when this ep came out

Poragami

Acting so noble and saying he's a rat when we know everyone would be doing the same lol

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! I always tear up watching this episode.

LaYami・砂漠の子

this ep was my fav, oh god when I watched it the 1st time it made me depressed

Sasha

Carter baka

KrispyKenny

that girl has a sadder death than ned stark tbh

Sasha

I never realized the movie reference even though I've seen this two times😁

Sasha

I guess Sussy Brig gotta make his appearance every once in a while

Tubasmitty2

Been anticipating and dreading this episode, so good in such a bad way

Mitch

Sangwoo is him, everyone would do the same in his position let’s be real.🐐🐐🐐

Ryan Ry

Ah yes. Lord of the Sus Brig. look at him just being all sussy face throughout the entire thing. I think they hang out with each other long enough to know when someone from the group is gaslighting or being “oh that’s sooooo sad” ooops just kidding.

Ryan Ry

One thing about the group and especially Lord of the Sus Brig and being a reactor is what I call the “Reactor’s Disease” or dementia. It seems like everyone suddenly “forgets” important or even semi-important plot points in shows, for content. Sometimes it’s obvious, like when Lord of the Sus Brig says he didn’t know the plot to GoT when in reality, he’s seen the entire thing and read all lore on his phone. And then now Squid Game.

Gyt

How can bro not feel the marbles

GreetswithJudgement

I’m so jealous of all the people who can just cry at things. I can feel the emotion but I just don’t cry and it’s ruining my life 😂

Sasha

The girl's death was the least sad out of the three

KrispyKenny

Sasha i found it the most sad because her character is just tragic, she got sa'd by her step dad who beat and killed her mom, then killed him herself, and had nothing worth living for. That makes it seem like her dying wasn't much of a loss but I see it as such a loss of potential. She finally made a friend and could've experienced some happiness but she sacrificed herself because of a cost benefit analysis on her life vs some random girl she just met and concluded that her own life was worth less than hers. Same with the old man but this is just tragic imo

ooAlmondMilk

I'm in shambles 😭😭

Brig Andrus

I wake up every morning and smile seeing you pay to troll 🙏🏼😁

Jengit

The only goats I saw this episode were Ji-yeong and Sae-byeok

TheSauceGuy

If all you have to do is take the ten marbles from your opponent using your own, couldn't you just do a "trade" and switch bags or something lol? Would that allow both people to survive as they both took each other's 10 marbles or is that too perfect?

TheSauceGuy

Ali's death is sad but I feel worse for his wife and child. Will they ever know what happened to him?

Ale

I, on the other hand, cry for almost everything. Wish I was stronger lol

accomplice

I'm so confuse of whose watching this for the first time?'

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Same somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think Jack and Brig have seen the whole season, Mckay has seen eps. 1-6, Cannon has seen Mr beast squid game only and Carter has seen nothing

Ryan Ry

I’m sad. I’m like the biggest supporter since day 1. Is this how we’re being treated, name called, and threatened in the comments. Legacy Gek supporters? I’m not even trolling. Cannon and Lord of the Sus Brig are like my favorite Geks. Carter is just too high maintenance for me. McKay? More like McWho?

Jengit

Also confused here 😅 but thought mckay finished the show and brig watched only half of the show 🤔

alex anderson

I think this is correct. But I remember brig saying he don’t remember all of it since he saw it when it first came out. Same with jack i think

accomplice

i was only asking because their predictions are so on point, so I assumed they watched it already

Kale

it wasnt about taking just 10 marbles it was about having all 20 :/

Bro what are you talking he said he has watched the show before :SKULL

This comment took me out tho lmfaoo "Lord of the sus" lmfao

I read it as sun and im like bro are you high

Ryan Ry

You must be new here. Let me get you up to speed. In here, the geks react to shows they have seen but somehow they magically “forget” things or “don’t remember” important information like when Lord of the Sus Brig looks up Game of Thrones lore on his phone. Grab a chair and get comfy.

Jaqen H'ghar

JUSTICE FOR ALI!!!! A man cries each time.

Pennny

real talks y'all boys gotta start the penguin show

S Moonchild

I think I cry every time I hear Jiyeong's story and then saying "Thank you for playing with me". For some reason it hurts more than Ali's death, even though it is also sad.

TheSauceGuy

Did the speaker say that though or did everyone deduce that? She only said that "the player who takes all ten marbles wins" iirc.

Kelsey

The player who ends with all marbles (aka gaining the other players' 10 marbles) wins. In this game, it is designed so only one player survives. If both members of a team fail to take all marbles in the time allowed, they would also both be eliminated

Kelsey

Pretty sure the one you call "jiji" is because they called him "abeoji" - which is the korean word for "father," or "halabeoji" - grandpa. Both are used as a term for an elder male (whether related or not)

TheSauceGuy

By switching bags, they're both taking all of their opponent's marbles. It's a technicality that should work since the rules don't specify you need all twenty marbles; it's just a small oversight in the show IMO.

Mike Lew

Would also suggest Westworld

Brig Andrus

You don’t seem like much of a supporter bro. Making up stuff about me in every comment section doesn’t really reflect that.

Kelsey

I think you're right here - unless I missed it rewatching. Or if the subtitles are incorrect (I don't speak Korean, so I can't be sure) it did say just to take their 10 marbles. I always took it to mean they had to end with 20, but if the subs are correct your idea makes sense too. It would actually make the show more tragic - yet impactful - if only one team came to your conclusion and succeeded out of all the teams

Brianna Tsao

Okay buddie, if you can accurately recall all the most significant details of every show, game and movie you’ve engaged with in your whole life, then I’ll admit you have a point. Otherwise, chill

Brianna Tsao

I guarantee you there’s dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of media you’ve seen or read that have completely left your memory. Relax little bro

Lydia

one of the most traumatizing eps in history

Jarvis

I think they say jiji because they hear it a lot in anime, so it's a good nickname for contestant number 1

Kelsey

maybe, but Squid Game is Korean. Probably why I didn't make that connection

Kelsey

Ali's death kills me because he could have won this round, but he was always worried about others before himself 😭 the fact that his widow and son will never know why he left is just so sad to me because he did it all for them in the first place 💔

Kelsey

I see jiji is a way to refer to an old man in Japanese (apparently it's an insulting way to say it)....I do wonder if they know this is a Korean show or if they just say it anyway because they happen to be more familiar with anime. Ty for the explanation because I wouldn't have gotten there 😅

Ashley K

Bro is still throwing a tantrum. If you're so mad just hop off. No need for you to keep crapping on them in the comments.

Frosty

is 7 coming tonight?

celery

Does that even matter it’s still fun to watch thr shows with them even if they did do that

Kelsey

They DO! It isn't your fault for not knowing that context - I only just learned it recently and I've been watching anime for years. It's just not generally used in a way that honors the typical Japanese culture of respecting elders

Ashley K

Ali's death was the most heartbreaking for me. I hated it the most out of all the deaths in this episode, but it was the most fitting as a portrayal to his character. An illegal immigrant that came to Korea hoping to earn a living but was only taken advantage of by his boss without getting paid properly (true story of many illegal immigrants especially Middle Easterns in Korea) and was taken advantage of until the very end by the man he started off by calling "boss" before he started to call him "big bro". Ali was too sweet.💔

Nivek

“I do wonder if they know this is a Korean show…” please tell me you’re joking 🤣

BRO.

Well, probably because deep down you know it's not real, just amazing acting.

Kelsey

No?? Wouldn't be the first time someone didn't know it was korean. I don't mean it as an insult to anyone. I wouldn't have wondered this at all except for Brig made some comments in Japanese that made me wonder. And then this person above suggested they were using japanese slang as the origin for "Jiji" If you think I'm calling them dumb or something, I'm certainly not. I don't expect everyone to know everything 🤷‍♀️

Nivek

Fr people are complaining about not knowing exactly what percentage they’ve seen of every single piece of media in existence. Just watch along in peace

Nivek

When I watch tv high I cry at everything! Happy, sad, whatever lmao

Nivek

Paying to hate this hard is madness bro. Get better

Nivek

Fair. Pardon the slight over reaction, the trolls are out so you can’t be too sure haha

Nivek

Oh I don’t remember that but I’m mainly just Patreon and YouTube for these guys so I don’t see all the discord announcements and stuff.

Nash

Imagine paying for content just to hate on a guy you don’t even know personally

yio

Man this episode hits hard. Rest in peace Ji-Yeong...

Frosty

Yeah it might be now… just the last thing they said in the comments before they started the show was Mondays and Wednesdays

Hector

This episode had me weak to my stomach for a full week

Hector

"I'm not having fun anymore" it's a crazy pull 😂😂

Lydia

Yes exactly. He was so blindsided idk how a person could do something like that. Sang woo showed his true colors before he lost the game and I wish Ali caught on to it 😔

S0uL YgR

The way Naruto says it doesn't sound insulting to me. I thought it was more of a disrespectful way to say old man especially when Japense are so strict with manners. However if you're calling a total stranger old man out of the blue they can feel insulted like who is this idiot speaking to me like his equal and calling me old. Spanish also has a formal way of speaking with respect to strangers/elders so I can understand how something technically not insulting can be insulting 🤔

Kelsey

Yes, that's what I was trying to say. You worded it better 😅 I suppose it's not so much a direct insult as it's just not the correct way to speak to your elders. So purposefully saying it to an elder would typically be considered disrespectful. Idk how true it is, but my friend with japanese heritage says it's a phrase more widely used in anime than in the real world

Cookie

i have to watch interviews after this ep to reassure myself the actors are happy and healthy and are NOT being betrayed :( im so upset #notfunanymore

GBuckets

Other games in this show are brutal and violent but in my opinion this is the worst. This game is just evil

GBuckets

It’s more of old man than grandpa. They’re usually trying to be rude when they say it or iust don’t care

Vlad Lena

I crying my eyes out when I first watch this episode. And I did it once again rewatching 😭😭😭

Riya

This episode made me tear up the first time I watched and now. I don't understand how Sangwoo got the rocks in the bag when Ali was there. Also, when Ali turned around during the gunshot, that's how Sangwoo got the upper advantage, crazy timing :(

Billie

I knew about the death of Ali and jiyeong even though I didnt watch this show before but because of social media, but it still hits hard :'(((((( Ali always calling him hyung (subtitles show that he calls him by his name but actually hyung means older brother in Korean and is a term of endearment from a younger man / boy to an older one, doesn't necessarily have to be blood rated. its a sign of respect)

A_Daddy Daichi

ahhh yesss because everyone will remember every single detail of a show they watched 2 years ago 👍🏾

GreetswithJudgement

I usually only tear up at stuff involving war and soldiers and it’s usually for inspirational moments or major sacrifices.

A_Daddy Daichi

That’s interesting but I am a pretty big empath so my eyes just tear up pretty easily
