In regards to Igarahm’s ‘survival’, the attack on him was done by Ms. All Sunday. Notice how out of the multiple time she’s come into contact with someone from the crew’s side, she’s never once fatally wounded any of them despite being capable. She’s helped luffy and even offered to help another time back with an eternal pose. The only reason Vivi has had hope to stop this take over is because Ms. All Sunday intentionally led her to discovering that Croc is Mr.0. So I think it’s less about Igarham being a tank and more about Ms. All Sunday not intending to kill him.

Also Geks cut Jack some slack, I promise sometimes he isn't being a hindsight merchant and just genuinely can't remember haha. Like One Piece is my favourite show and I've even rewatched a ton but it's impossible to remember all small things or plot points. Like I only realised it was Bon Clay disguised as Usopp when Carter pointed it out lmao, and I promise Jacks comment of how "he'd get there so fast" wasn't cleverly hinting at the reveal but just a genuine thought that any of us would have while watching it haha. There's actually so surprisingly much I remember out of 1000+ episodes but also so much I don't because it is IMPOSSIBLE.

i wouldn't get too caught up with the "no one dies" trope, it will just ruin your enjoyment. not every show needs to be like aot or jjk with unexpected deaths and mass civilian casualties for the stakes to be high. one piece has its own thing and its nice

As a huge Gundam fan that's a decent one, but I don't think it's right to start watching Gundam without watching Wing or Mobile Suit Gundam first. I think Wing is the best for non-gundam viewers, but the OG is still good if you are understanding that it was animated in the late 70s. It really shows the overall political plot behind most Gundam series and the pain of both the people from Earth and the Colonies.

Once you get warmed up to one piece, you’ll wish there’s more episodes, it happens with everyone every time lol. The movies are mostly non canon so not a big deal, still cool that you even gave those a go, but the main series is the real deal.

idk if they will ever figure this out but they never really saw Igaram die and Robin was supposedly the one who killed him (same Robin that saved Luffy) so it's pretty easy to figure out that Robin didn't really kill Igaram... there's a reason they showed Robin saving Luffy before Igaram reappeared

I kinda dislike that they've written it as 'aLabasta' in english, rather than the japanese spelling aRabasta. Its clearly a very ARABic inspired kingdom, the style of the buildings, the peoples clothing, the Egypt references (yes, old egypt obviously wasnt arabic, but it is now), so it being written as aRabasta makes way more sense

The problem is that he points out those tiny details as it's happening or right before anyone else realizes it. When the conclusion of the setup is reached, then would be a good time to remind them of all the set up Oda did for that plot thread. If you point out all the small clues before the reveal, it just makes the conclusion obvious and the payoff underwhelming. It's like saying, "ohh he didn't get crushed by the Female Titan, i wonder why that is." I guarantee you they wouldn't have enjoyed AOT as much as they did if he made those comments during their watch of the show. Technically it's not spoiling but it sure as hell decreases their enjoyment of the show.

Partly Oda’s fault because when he initially introduced the region in the manga he called it Alabasta the first 2 times. And now there’s a debate in the fandom over what the true spelling is 😂 The argument for it being Alabasta is that Egyptians used a mineral called Alabaster to make some artifacts. Something interesting I learned is that the Japanese “R” sound is similar to the English “L” sound so it is hard for native Japanese speakers to distinguish between the two. In some translations Zoro is written as Zolo. And some early translations of Luffy’s name had it written as Ruffy.

There is no L but the R sounds in Japanese sound between R and L and is used for both. That makes it annoying for translating to other languages and figuring out if it’s supposed to be an L or an R.

I've been considering leaving and coming back every couple of months to catch up on the One Piece reactions for the same reason. Two episodes at a time just never makes me fully satisfied. Same thing with 1 episode of Mob at a time
