nah i agree first half of death note is infinitely better than the very start of fmab but its like duh... lmao. death note everything is established immediately, (theres a death note in our world is the whole story) while fmab we are learning about key details, character relationships and how the world works. basiacally death note starts cooking after epiosde 1 while fmab is still prepping ingredients at the same point in episodes

The funny thing is DN and FMA both have exactly 108 manga chapters, DN just ended up with a faster paced adaptation (guess they cut out alot of the text in the anime)

I wouldn't go by Chapter count at all (there's manga with 18 page chapters and some with 50 pages, possibly more). Going by Volume count is more accurate. FMA has 27 volumes, Death Note has 12 (manga volumes are all generally similar page count, unless it's an omnibus which is multiple volumes compiled into one book).

I don't think that's a controversy 🤔 If we go by eps, FMAB almost doubles the number of eps Death Note has, so of course by ep 16 DN was more developed than what we have rn with Fullmetal. Also DN doesn't have to set things up, DN only has to explain that there are Shinigami that are God of death and to kill people they have a notebook were they write names and have certain rules, they tell us all that in 1 ep or 2, whereas FMAB has to set up a whole new world with different countries and everything so it will take more time, we could say it has a slow start, but it picks up not even in the middle as Mckay said it's before that, you guys are actually almost there. A random thing, this opening and ending are my favorite in the whole show!! There is another op that I like almost the same as this one but it comes way later.

They will hate that 100%. Story is pretty simple, rough animation at times, and annoying Noelle. It does have some good moments but this will turn them back into anime haters

I like FMAB but Death Note is better. Exponentially better pacing and every episode (bar maybe 1 or 2) have genuine cliffhangers. FMAB is sooo slow to get going, similar to HxH, but they absolutely pay off toward the middle to end.

If u watch the original FMA from 2004 it has a few canon episodes from the manga that aren't in Brotherhood, there's more detail in the backstory of Ed meeting Mustang , and why Yoki hates the Elrich bros. As far as death note vs FMAB, it's a tossup, depending on what mood ur in.

I really dont think they are comparable. FMAB has a bigger and better cast, is more consistent, better villains, more development for the characters and ends in a way higher note. Death Note is amazing too, but after episode 25 its just a downward trend until the last episode which is great. Also the cast is too small and apart from Light, L and Ryuk everyone is mid or forgettable.
