Ya the scheduling has always been difficult, because between 5 guys all with school and jobs and family/personal stuff it gets crazy and chaotic super quick, but we try our best. We are going to be opening up more time after this school semester and mess around with our schedule a bit to hopefully make it more consistent

I think you’re overestimating how much money they’re making. Split 5 ways, it’d most likely be a very good and comfortable salary, especially for their age. But it is nowhere near the amount where they can, or would want to, forego everything else indefinitely for it Remember how precarious what they’re doing is, or could be; they’re a reaction channel who are uploading full episodes of anime and live-action shows to their Patreon Not to mention they all have their own ambitions and desires, and this is done as both a passion project and a way to set them up financially for the future

I personally kinda like the relative inconsistency of the channel tbh. One thing that drew me in with AoT is the authenticity of it. “I just gotta watch another episode after that” and then turning on the next ep and uploading it Idk, I don’t like how business-y it feels when channels do 1 ep per week for every show, no exceptions. Objectively speaking they have an exponentially better chance at being millionaires by pursuing Patreon over school/work. Nevermind student loans, nevermind training, commute, and other expenses. Currently even with zero growth they are getting anywhere from $25,000 to $30,000 a month, after Patreon's cut, and that's NOT even including the $10 tier. Average US income is $59k a year. They are pulling that in 2 months. Even split 5 ways they are well exceeding the average income, and not spending a fortune on gas, not breaking their backs, etc.

As I said, it's precarious for so many different reasons: the main one being the potential for media companies to actually start enforcing their copyright, but also just managing 5 people who you need to assume are willing to stay locked in and dedicated to this as their main career for an indefinite amount of time We see this time and time again "reactors" grow dissatisfied with that label and start wanting to be more ambitious Jack is studying architecture, Brig is studying finance and I think Cannon has a degree in finance already, and I think Carter has some sort of business background. Not sure about McKay. They're not getting worthless degrees or anything. As for student loans, I think they've already done the bulk of their semesters. With a job like this where you're sacrificing, or gambling your early years you need to be looking at being set up for life. Tl;dr I think they're doing the right thing by doing both in a bit more of a balanced way, but also leaning into this opportunity they have in front of them. I also just think they should do what they want, it's not really my place. And hey maybe they start hating their jobs and then have this to turn to full time

Also, I just want to say that I think the tropes stuff in this show being not all that good is mostly a dub problem. The dub is great don't get me wrong, but idk in the sub it just feels way more natural while in the dub it feels super out there and random. I honestly didn't even remember there being all that much stuff like that in the sub so when I watched the dub for the first time I was so confused lol. I don't even think its all that funny in the sub either its just something I would never point out if I was talking about the show. Definitely one of the dubs biggest weakness imo.

Some shows just do tropes better than others. It's like watching a comedy that either does or doesn't have good jokes. It's why some anime I love, and meanwhile Black Clover was more uncomfortable for me than having teeth pulled. I mean that literally as I know what having teeth pulled feels like. I literally got in the habit of fast forwarding though parts of that show because as some of the main plot was interesting the characters were becoming more insufferable. So I don't think the presence of tropes should scare you guys off, it's just whether or not the comedy is going to land for you or not, like how it did in JJK for example. Also what a perfect line: "If you turn your back on something you wanted, you don't deserve to call yourself greed"

Bradley ages because he has 1 soul in his stone. In his backstory on how he became a homonculus he describes that all the souls in the stone fought to be the dominant one until only the most wrathful one remained. It's actually interesting that y'all talked about hohenhiem making homonculi based on good emotions, cause he seems to embody the opposite of the seven deadly sins-the seven heavenly virtues

I get what Carter is saying at the end. But that's actually what I don't like about Korra. Is that since they weren't sure how long they'd get for the show, each season is a new big bad, whereas Avatar was the build up to the big bad, the final boss.

I think it's great you take it slow watching this show, I bet it feels as if its actually releasing now for the first time weekly which I think adds it's own charm to the watching experience. It leaves you longing for more and you have something to look forward to every week. It's kinda comforting too I guess, especially with the vibes of this show. I think by the end you are gonna think of this show with a smile on your faces. Keep it up and don't be bothered by comments who want to rush you, the moment you start feeling like you Have to watch something, you have lost all enjoyment. A binge for the last few episodes would feel very rewarding as well since everything will be finally be put together, but do as you feel.

Rewatching FMAB with you guys all these years later, I can see how it has aged slightly compared to more recent popular shows. It still stands up as one of the greatest in my opinion, but certain things like the tropes you mentioned have changed. The rewatch has been so enjoyable though! You guys are the perfect balance of discussing events in shows but not talking over the whole episode. :D Never change! ;)

That Greed/Ling (=Greeling) argument over killing Bido is one of my favorite scenes of the show. Such great writing, cut shots, and emotion in it. Greeling has such an interesting character dynamic because Ling makes him recognize his more human nature. You guys are more familiar with a Sukuna/Yuji dynamic, but I hope y'all like Greeling since they aren't exactly working against each other. Also, love these 2 episodes since they gave us that Bradley/Greed fight then the Alex/Olivier showdown 😂

I definitely agree that the tone of the show changes these episodes. I think this is due to the shift away from the set up and exposition of the finale, and the beginning of all the POVs being given equal screen time as they slowly start to intertwine. Y'all are in for a fun ride!

42-43 cut off right before Brig looked it up, but I assume y’all know now that the original FMA started airing before the manga finished, so it’s an anime original ending. While the beginning and setup is basically the same, the story goes in an entirely different direction before long. If Carter is looking for another arc in this world, y’all should give the original FMA a try, and watch the sub! Overall not as good as Brotherhood but still a fantastic story in its own right. There is a movie sequel to each of the FMA series too, for even more story arcs.

Al always calls Ed "brother" purely because of Asian culture. Younger brother/sister do not call their older siblings by their names as it can be consider rude (of course depends on the family) so mostly in any pair of siblings you would hear the older will always call the younger with their name but the younger will refer to them directly as "brother/sister".

Man this show was my first real anime experience back in the day and I remember thinking it was so incredible and one of my favorite shows ever. But over time eventually I got way more into AOT because I thought it was way crazier and had darker themes. Started viewing FMAB as lesser because its more childish or not as dark and brutal as modern shonen like AOT, JJK, etc. And while I still probably like AOT more overall, I dont think this show ever comes close to the highs of AOT, rewatching it with yall has given me a lot of retrospective appreciation again. Its kind of bittersweet because it makes me think of simpler times and is like rediscovering my love for something i had cast aside for a while. FMAB is a show that is a 10/10 because it is very consistently an 8 or 9/10 in every single aspect if that makes sense. Its just very well rounded and the story and the way everything unfolds and then comes back together is so perfectly done. This last home stretch of the show is pretty insane now that Im remembering some of the peak moments coming up here (and yes that hyped up getback is indeed generational). The writing, setups, payoffs, huge cast of characters that you all very quickly become attached to, it’s just all great. It’s the definition of a perfect all around shonen anime. Literally the only big criticism you could have is the anime tropes which is just a result of it coming out before AOT led the revolution of more serious and dark shonen
