Hello to the 20 or so people who actually pay attention here on patreon! Just wanted to give y'all an update on what I am doing and where I am at.

Finally back in florida for the first time in months. I am exhausted and taking the next few weeks to recover both physically, but more so mentally. During this time, I have lots of projects i've left on the drawing board and backburner I want to get going, and I figured I will share some of these *possible* ideas with y'all (as a treat for supporting or simply paying attention here on patreon >:) lol)

First is a SHIFT OF CONTENT! I will never *not* do covers, however I have so much more stuff I want to beyond that, so expect a bit less frequency of covers, but a higher frequency of longer form content! Some of the ideas I have include, but are not limited to:

- Video Essays/Vlogs! - If you follow me, you know that I talk a lot! I have lots of things I want to talk more about. Some Ideas I've had are "The Logistics of touring" which would be a complete financial breakdown of the fishbone tour I just did, and bringing transparency to how EXPENSIVE tour can be. "How Captialism is destroying the music industry", a deep dive into how the profit motive has molded the music industry to make music really burn out musicians and make it hard for the majority. "In defense of spotify" a video explaining how spotify can be extremely beneficial for musicians, "A resurgence in a genre of music will never be digital" a video deep diving the importance of live music scenes and how supporting live music is necessary to support a genre. "how Drum corps and Punk rock touring differ (and how they're similar), breaking down drum corps and punk rock and talk about how similar they are and how different they are. These are all just ideas I have

-Rewriting ska songs i wrote in high school - me revisiting songs that i wrote in high school, and talking about all the things I liked about the songs, and things i should improve on. Also mentioning a little bit about my history into ska, music i was into at the time, how i was getting into songwriting and shows and stuff, histroy of my high school ska band, and basically everything that led up to these songs. I'll feature artists and these songs will hit streaming. I'll probably have bonus patreon content to go with these videos as well

-Patreon bonuses for my covers! - With every cover, I want to make a short minute and a half video talking about why I chose the cover, as well as choices I made with the arranging and stuff. That'll likely be very patreon exclusive, maybe after a season, i'll clump them together into a long youtube video and upload some of the popular ones as reels/tiktoks a few weeks after the video uploads.

These are just a few ideas, with many many more on the backburner for me. I really think these are all really cool ideas and want to dive deep into them! Hope y'all enjoy the ride these will bring, and are as hype as I am on these!

You do what you need to do! People change and evolve!

heck yeah, all sounds great

The Splintersmith

This all sounds fantastic. Rest up! Glad the tour went well

Avery Fern

woohoo! excited 😁

Interesting ideas for the vlog! I especially like the first one because I think it would be very enlightening for fans to know about all the hidden costs to artists who tour. I didn't really know much about it until I started organizing my own festival.

Ripley

I am so excited!!! So proud of you

Hell yeah, this is some exciting content! Most importantly take the time you need to not burn out 🤘 Out of interest are your 20ish views based on how many view in the patreon app/site or do they also include numbers to determine whether the email was read (with like a tracking pixel or something)? It's just the whole message is in the email notif too so if they don't track email reads then more people might just be reading that and not on the site!

Great photos...and excited for the new content! (Coincidentally, I just stumbled across an ale from Ska Brewing called "Pink Vapor Stew".) 😆

It's funny because just this morning I was thinking about how curious I am about the financial side of touring, from expenses to what artists actually end up taking home as both a number and percentage. And I thought, "man, I wish someone who is known for transparency and honesty would do a detailed breakdown" and then IMMEDIATELY realized you would be the best person to do that. And here I am, hours later, seeing you brainstorming it, so I HEARTILY endorse more video essays and vlogs. Everything else you've listed here also sounds so awesome. If you put out zero content I'd still subscribe just to throw a few bucks your way every month, so everything you do is a bonus. You're doing so much for the ska scene and work tirelessly as both a musician and an ambassador for the genre - whatever you're up to, you can count me in!

All of that sounds great! Especially taking some time to recover! Can't wait to see what 2023 has in store!

PJ Metz

Punk vs Corps would be such a cool topic. Looking forward to that one.

I fucking love all of these ideas! A topic could be about how the "punk" scene has stagnated on all levels and ska is what's keeping the underground alive
