To my dear supporters and all followers/friends:
As many of you may know, I was banned from the HUB recently for violation of its policy. Since then, I’ve been working with the Mods team to investigate and to correct the issues. The Moderation team on the Hub has been very supportive, and has been patiently working with me in the past few days. So big shout out to the Mods team! I always want to be fully transparent with you guys. So I will explain what happened, and cover the following topics in this post: 1) My mistakes & How it happened; 2) Changes going forward. I will also make a separate post apologizing to the creators impacted by my mistakes.
I. My mistakes & How it happened:
TLDR - There are two mistakes I made: 1) I had unlicensed NC/PC dependencies in some of my scenes. 2) I had unlicensed NC/PC dependencies in the dependencies folder in my Mega/Baidu drive for download.
In most cases, I always reach out to the creators to ask for permission for any NC dependencies used. Some of you may remember, there are a couple’s times I deleted assets from my scene because I found out last second it was NC and I haven’t received permission for it. Being a creator myself, I greatly respect other creators for their work. So it was never my intention to use unlicensed dependencies in my scene. That being said, I wasn’t careful enough in reviewing my scene for those dependencies. So, there were a couple instances I have unlicensed NC dependencies slipped past me and were left in my released scenes.
The other mistake is that I have unlicensed NC/PC dependencies in my mega/Baidu folder. Some of those were not even used in my scenes. There are two issues with this one. First, as another supporter has pointed out, it’s just not a good practice because it will detract from the original creator’s HUB download counts. Second, I don’t have the right to redistribute those NC/PC dependencies. I started adding dependencies to my cloud drive because some of you had trouble downloading them directly from the HUB. But I was too lazy to pull the dependencies manually, so I used a utility software which is able to automatically pull all dependencies for a specific var based on its json file. What I didn’t know is that the software was also pulling tier 2 dependencies (dependency of another dependency), which included some of the NC/PC ones that were not even used in my scenes. Without carefully reviewing those, I just uploaded everything it pulled to my drive. Again, this is a big oversight on my part and I’m definitely accountable for it.
Those are the reason for my ban on the HUB. Although I wasn't intentionally going against the HUB's policy, I broke the rules nonetheless. I'm committed to make things right and to keep making scenes that are clean and legit.
II. Changes going forward
There will be some changes going forward to avoid the above mistake.
I will start to temporarily pausing the download links for scenes in question until I can either redo the scene without any unlicensed dependencies or have them released for free so it won’t breach the NC license.
I will delete all dependencies from my download drive. I might keep some essential one on Baidu drive, since a lot of Chinese players don’t have access to HUB. I realize this will be an inconvenience for some of you guys, and I apologize for it. But I agree it’s better if everything is downloaded directly from the HUB (I will make sure everything I use is on the HUB, if not, I will either pack them into my scene or upload them). Luckily, some talented creator has made a scene which can be used to automatically download all dependencies from the HUB for any scene. I will make a tutorial (by the end of this weekend) on it so you guys can use it to download everything automatically.
As mentioned above, some of my paid scenes will be converted into free scenes, and some of them will be repackaged to get rid of any unlicensed dependencies.
I’m on a probation period on the HUB, and my future releases will be reviewed and approved by the mods first before I release them on either Patreon or the Hub during this probation period. So this may cause some delay for this month end’s release (Photoshoot), since I didn’t plan for this. But I will catch up and it shouldn’t be an issue going forward starting next month.
I also humbly ask you guys to let me know if you find anything unlicensed in my scenes going forward, just in case I overlooked something.
Again, huge thank you to all my followers who showed me loving support in the past few days, the moderation team for understanding and working with me, and my friends from other forums/platforms (you know who you are).
I will make another official apologize post to the other creators in my next post.
Sincerely,
Vamsoy
