I like the ‘Q1 sets the sprint grid’ idea, and agree, I don’t like the sprint affecting the race.

Another idea - make the sprint about the constructors. Give points, but no driver points. Then you could also go as far as saying each constructor must give one seat to a rookie/test driver. So sprints become about a ‘team’ game, and maybe we get to see Oscar Piastri in an Alpine, or Kubica getting a regular sprint race slot.

not a bad idea, honestly. With the risk of handing your car over to a hothead rookie in the session immediately preceding the race!
