Is this a bonus episode or are we just getting Monday's episode crazy early?

Diego Guzmán

Hey! I get the whole problem with getting just 600USD, but I find weird that you guys said it can't help anyone. Isn't modest needs based on the idea that sometimes people needs just small amounts to prevent them to fall into poverty? I get that now we're in a different situation, but I find that you may be looking to both cases with different lenses. I hope I got my point across. English is my second language xD What do you guys think?

Tom Mummery

I think modest needs is really just there to help people out of a single bad situation - broken car or late rent for example. The problem is you have millions of people who have not had a regular income for nearly a year now. $600 doesn't come anywhere near helping people in those situations where they are trying to put food on the table and keep the lights at home on.

Julie LaVoice

What Tom said. The problem with the current situation, and I'm in the current epicenter - Tennessee - is that job loss and the pandemic itself are both so rampant, that while $600 wouldn't hurt, it's not enough to help anyone in any significant way. However, I'd rather have that than nothing, and the Republican held senate clearly wants us to get nothing.

Rev. Random VanGogh

Regarding the healthcare situation, please tell me why this is a stupid idea (Andrew is invited). If Biden signed an executive order confirming universal healthcare on his first day in office wouldn’t it be up to the senate to explain to their constituents why they feel it necessary to strip them of their newfound god-given gubmint hefcur?
