I have great news to share! I was notified today (March 6) by my county health department that I’ve been scheduled for my C-19 vaccine! I’ll be getting my dose #1 on Tuesday, March 9! None too soon, either! Unfortunately, I’m in the shithole state of Texas where our governor is a fucking moron and most of the voters are too! However, THIS GAL isn’t a fucking moron, and I’m THRILLED to have been doing my part to follow the CDC and WHO recommendations this whole time AND thrilled to keep doing my part by getting my vaccine!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! 💝 I HATE MY STATE!!! 😠 I HATE ABBOTT & CO.!!!🤬 YOU TWO DUDES KEEP ME SANE!!! 🤗 THANK YOU!

I once dove into conspiracy theories about 7 years ago for exactly the reason you talked about. I got away from that because they are fucking stupid, but I still struggled every fucking day to find any fucking meaning for what I do, and it’s a struggle I don’t know will ever end. And sure, it’s nihilistic, it depresses the hell out of me, and I hate anyone who says “just be happy”, so I can see how these people really want to believe in that garbage because it’s something that they feel matters.

That is the powe and allure of that kind of thinking. Congrats for getting out of there, and thanks for sharing.

Responding to your comments about Olbermann and Moore. I sense their comments came from frustration that those who are not willing to help themselves and go out of their way to hurt others still need the help, don't want the help, and resent it when they get it. I think it is unlikely that after what all the people of Texas has been through, they will take any steps to change their government, Even with his trip to Cancun, Texas will reelect Cruz. Somehow being nice to these people and trying to show you have commonality with them, just doesn't seem like an effective strategy.

I just want to say that I, like Cecil, refuse to share the kitchen with my spouse. I could so relate to that frustration.

I’m going to say it now. Choke holds should absolutely not be banned. They are one of the safest and most effective ways to subdue an opponent. It takes minutes to kill someone with it. And about a minute to start to have any serious effects. It takes about three seconds... THREE. To knock someone out with a properly applied choke. That said? Most cops don’t know how to properly apply it. THAT is the issue. Not the chokehold itself. You see cops choking people who are conscious for long periods of time, because they are literally choking them from getting enough air. It takes a while. That is the wrong way to do it. There is absolutely no need to choke someone longer that five to ten seconds MAX with a properly applied choke. And I am only at ten because I am assuming worst case scenario. (Massive suspect. Dangerous. Violent. You are alone or couldn’t get him under control again for whatever reason if he was not actually unconscious.) But even at ten seconds? I assure you they will be fine. I see this as a bad thing. Not a good thing. Because that means that they are now more limited to inflicting pain compliance with either more violence? Or the threat of more violence than may be needed. The properly applied choke? It’s just night night time. He’ll be fine. Yes.... I am coming from a 25+ year background in Jiu-Jitsu. So again, please understand that PROPERLY APPLIED is the key thing to remember. And that requires more training.

Fuck me, I was not ready for Tom's visceral breakdown of the majority of people's reality. Woof.

Tom mentioned that Last Week Tonight episode about police raids. He didn't mention the woman who had the police bust into her house right as she got out of the shower. They made her sit there naked while she was handcuffed and told her to stop yelling at them because she was (rightfully) pissed off. Eventually they gave her a towel, but left her handcuffed. Of course in the end it was the wrong house.
