This book was one of the primary reasons I gave up magical thinking with Wicca and became an atheist. Revisiting it now, it's just as eye opening and on point as it was when I first read it in the 90s. It's also a reminder that he never attacked people, only their terrible ideas. I miss him so much.

What's interesting about giving meaning to patterns is that they don't need to be "visual" ones. We search and find patterns in our continuous experience (in my understanding, our reality can be summarized in what agents and patterns we "find".) For instance, our tendency to assume that if something happened before another thing, then it must be its cause.
