A fantastic episode, but I have one comment about language. I've learned so much from this podcast in terms of looking for shades of gray and always being willing to examine my cognitive biases. Along those lines, please consider refraining from the lazy, polemic language that infuses the ginned-up generational wars of our meme culture. I hear the word "Boomer" and I stop listening, because I hear "I hate you and your generation." I imagine that people in GenX, Millennials and Zoomers feel the same way when those words are inserted into a discussion in critical ways. The generational war is a massive distraction and one more way of dividing society into smaller and smaller warring factions. Thank you for the work you do, it's more important than ever.

What is the "vow to protect the child" audio clip from?

Godless Goth

Depending on the state, probably. The next nearest clinic to Georgia could be a plane ride– not a drive– making it not worthwhile to get pregnant then get an abortion elsewhere just for tax credits.

"Boomer" is more about a mindset than people born between some arbitrary dates. If you notice, the "generations" are getting shorter and shorter: Greatest Gen: 24 years Silent Gen: 21 years Boomer: 19 Years X, Y & Z: 16 years (letters because boomers have no imagination) Gen Alpha: 13 years (probably because 10-year-old rape victims won't be able to get abortions) At the current linear rate, 1-year generations will start around 2140. At an accelerated rate, each year will be a different generation starting around 2065. Generation naming and time periods are pretty stupid. And you are right, divisive and a distraction.
