One thing that gives me hope Trump will see some consequences is that the intelligence community is pissed. Yes, law enforcement in general is pretty right wing, but the intelligence community is very small. Agents have probably died to get this information, and some of them have probably been at risk because Trump has mishandled it. They're personally affected which might be enough to overcome their general tendency toward conservatism.
