Here is my Cura profile for the Prusa i3 MK3 that I use. Its hardly perfect and by all means tweak away. I hope this helps!

I'm getting an error when i try to import that says "this file does not contain a valid profile"

I'm actually on 3.31 by the looks of it, which might cause this.

Are you using the stock .4 nozzle on the Mk3?

Heh upgraded to 4,0 just now and it worked. Looks like you're right. Older versions won't take them.

Do Cura profiles work on the Slic3r software?

Well this is timely for me. I just updated cura to 4.0 from 3.3 or so. There is a cura profile for the mk3 printer and materials on the prusa site. I'll post a link later, at work now.

What material do you use this profile for? I assume a PLA but might be helpful to know which exactly you've set this up for.

He almost certainly is. This profile would make no sense otherwise. He is using a line width of .42, slightly above the stock nozzle size. I assume this is so his first layer lines have a bit of extra space to squish out sideways. Also he is using 210C printing temperature, which likely means his nozzle isn't hardened steel or anything. If it were I would expect about 5 - 10 degrees hotter printing temperature.

Out of curiosity would you say there are any weaknesses of your profile setup? You mention it being hardly perfect and I would say that about my own current one but I'm wondering if there is anything in particular you would say you wish were better about the profile? For example I don't use Z-Hop on my profile because I find it results in more stringing but the weakness of it is that if I get a small amount of curling up on the print my print head has a tendency to knock towers over. I have printed hundreds of you minis and greatly appreciate you posting your profile I'm just curious if you have any thoughts about your own profile.

I just think there is always room for improvement. I'm naturally humble. I so far have had plenty of luck with z hop.

Have you ever thought of switching the tip from .4 to .2 I have done that on my prusa and trust me the quality is leaps and bounds better than a .4

All the research I've done indicates that a Prusa Mk3's stepper motors use 0.05 as a magic number. You might get a better print quality by going to point 0.05 or 0.1(This might even be better than 0.08 for you). I do all my printing at 0.05 and the layer lines are essentially invisible except in extreme cases.

Which setting are you referencing here Dan? Is it layer height?

I'm on Cura 4.0.0 and it won't let me import this file. Does anyone have a screenshot of the settings they can link to?

Right. Though further research indicated that it's actually something ridiculous like 0.0025 so it can do 0.05 equally as well as 0.08. Been testing that out recently and it looks like .08 is working pretty well.
