Patron Exclusive Comic F&G: Konrad's Choice {April 2023} (Patreon)
Content
(Update 4/18/2023) Added Post Image, Enjoy.^_^
This month I decided to attempt two very large Commission projects to get myself back into the green zone after all of last years expenses, and this comic was one of them, I will probably not do that again because it was quite exhausting. lol
This comic is based on a story verse created by the commissioner and my friend Marberguson, called Fire and Gnolls.
The original text was by Marb, then rewritten by myself and then proof-read and perfected by another Wilderness community member RK. I love it when I can get multiple people involved in a project who can contribute their professional skills, so this was a great experience in that regard. I diffidently cannot do everything very well on my own, especially write. :P I always try my hardest to give you all the best quality content I possibly can each month, and collabs like this really help me do that! ^_^
On my personal front in regards to the creation of the art, I have been experimenting with different post work techniques to give my renders a bit more of a muted color pallet, which works extremely well for period pieces like this one. You will see these techniques applied to some of the Artistic renders in this months Discord Extras content as well. Of course it still needs work, but I'm really liking the direction its going. I've found 3D renders can come off as a little bit too hyper realistic, so my focus has been on post work techniques as of late! One day I'd like to be able to get it to a point where it could even look more like my Traditional works, but only time will tell!
This project also required a custom setting with a few new props and a upgrade to my Yeen Guy. On request of Marb, he was made a bit more Gholl like for this setting. ^_^
A Post image will be added in the coming days, once I complete Konrad's Armor set and make a version to fit his gnoll form. So keep an eye out for that! ^_^
Thank you so much for commissioning me for another project Marb!It was a little harder than the last project but we pulled through! ^_^
And to everyone else, again thank you all for your continued support and I look forward to bringing you more content in the near future and beyond! ^o^
Page Text Transcripts
PAGE 1
Three weeks have passed since Konrad's capture. He and his master Volker had joined a settler's caravan with a few peasant militia, tasked with the job of protecting it. When the Gnolls attacked, the militia fled, leaving only Konrad and Volker to defend the caravan. They both fought valiantly but the battle was lost, taking the life of master Volker in the process.
Captured Konrad was forced by the Gnolls, to fight in their arena. After his third victory, he was lead to an ruined house, or least, a “House” in the eyes of a Gnoll.
PAGE 2
The Gnolls had decorated the hovel to the best of their ability. As Konrad's wounds were being dressed, he looked around the room and saw his gear spread about. Standing in front of him was the largest of the Gnolls, which could only be assumed as the leader, holding her hands out and gesturing towards his gear and the door. He was being given a choice, leave the house and everything within it, or keep it all and join the clan.
PAGE 3
Joining the Clan seemed the better option. He could just get his stuff and leave, or so he thought. But as soon as he took the first sips of the Initiation substance, his hands began to change, and it became painfully obvious simply leaving would be much harder than expected.
PAGE 4
The sound of the bowl clattering to the floor filled the room, and the changes wracked Konrad hard, forcing him onto the floor screaming in pain and confusion as his body hit something heavy and solid.
PAGE 5
The impact triggered something within him, it wasn't just the anger born from his lost humanity, or the loss of his former life, it was something more primal, uncontrollable, and his gaze was now quickly and piercingly focused on the cowering Gnoll that had done all of this to him.
PAGE 6
As much as he wanted too, he could not lunge forward, his body now completely alien to him. He could only drag himself closer to her loving arms. To his surprise, instead of running away, the Gnoll took him up. Her embrace was warm and motherly, melting away his anger. How? He thought as he laid curled in confusion, with his world now fallen apart, how could he feel safe with... Her?
