Final Exam Game Devlog (Patreon)
Content
Hi!
Another weekend and I am working on the game again.
Continuing the devlog.
Yesterday I was on the verge of madness, because I thought development was over! Another build of the game, unexpectedly, stopped launching.
I spent a very long time looking for the cause of the malfunction, checking a lot of code. However, the cause of the problem turned out to be a new third-party plugin for Construct. I installed this plugin to better display text on the screen, and this plugin, at first, worked fine. But, after some time, some bug appeared in the plugin. I had to stop using the plugin, and now the prototype game location has no text elements again. I decided that the text will now be displayed in a completely different way, but for that I will need to create a sprite symbol map. Essentially, the text in the game will be displayed as a picture. But I need to do something else to make it display nicely.
But first I want to finalize the creation of all the main menu sections.
As I said earlier, the design of the game's levels is already done. But I don't want to build the levels right now. I want to start this work when everything else is ready. I want the game levels to have a finished look when I start building them. And, when I make the demo, it will be part of the final version of the game. What's available on the public link right now is a test prototype. No need to judge the final version of the game by it.
This weekend I made a preset for customizing the game's keyboard controls. Most of the work here is code work, so I don't have much to show. I don't think anyone will be interested in seeing scraps of lines of code.
Nevertheless, the customization menu can already be accessed. It is possible to control button switching both from the keyboard and gamepad. Very soon the control scheme can be changed.
As backgrounds for the menu sections, I chose AI-generated images finalized in Photoshop. All generated images will be replaced with original images in the final version of the game.
The test build of the main menu is only available for paid subscribers.
