This is a little different than some of my other rambles but I hope you all enjoy it! If you’d like me to do more rambles about other obsessions of mine let me know because there’s a few other things I think would be fun to talk about too ^_^

FMA's great - I enjoyed both 2003 and brotherhood, amazing how different they are! It's not like the Hunter X Hunter remake changing only subtle things, it's sooo different. Thanks for the rambles, definitely happy to hear more of your obsessions!

I've never seen FMA,but I've seen many Anime with historical Background as a Kid. I was born in 1980 so I was kind of a strange Kid at the Time with my choice of "Cartoons"(nobody has known about Anime at this Time). I liked Lady Oscar and the Adaption of Little Women and still enjoy them today, because these Stories never get old (like Me 🤭)!😊👋🏻

I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE SAID THIS! I feel like I'm constantly getting roasted for telling people I like FMA 2003 better than Brotherhood. Don't get me wrong, I like Brotherhood too, but I prefer 2003. I'm not certain where the whole "Brotherhood is just a better version of the original" narrative came from, but I hear a lot of people say that. That's the first time I can remember a series truly destroying me emotionally. I actually just realized while typing this that it's one of the only shows I'd consider a favorite of mine that I haven't gone back and rewatched multiple times. I think I'm honestly a little scared of digging up some of those feelings. I know the tragic moments get memed on a lot, but I still don't want to spoil it for people that may not have seen it yet. I guess I'll just say that Maes Hughes is my favorite character... On a lighter note, I had a MEGA HUGE crush on Winry, lol. Pretty sure that had some significant influence on my formative years. I did enjoy this type of ramble, by the way! I'm definitely the same when it comes to talking about stuff I'm into. Honestly, I just think it's really cool when people are passionate about stuff and want to share it.

I wish I’d started watching anime earlier in life I feel like I’m so behind I have friends and family who watched it I thought it was a bit weird until I watched aot then everything changes now I feel like I’m so far behind and need to watch so many classic anime Ive gotta get around to watching both fma just so many awesome anime to watch

This was great. I absolutely respect how you embrace your "cringe." Personally, I don't think there's anything cringe about embracing something you love, no matter how weeby it is lol You're totally right that sometimes a show just comes around at the right place and/or time, and it really can change your life. Just like you, I think FMA might have been my first serious anime. When I watched FMA for the first time, my brother was studying Japanese because he was going to apply to study abroad in Kyoto for a whole year(which he eventually did), so he would watch subbed anime and I would watch with him. As you get older, you start to see less of some of the people you love, so FMA brings back nice memories of spending time with my brother when I was a kid. But this quality time with my brother was also a bit of a catalyst... He unknowingly created a monster lol It was a weeb gateway for me. Before you knew it, I was downloading shows like Escaflowne and Evangelion on the family computer from questionable websites. However, on a shittier note, it fucking sucked realizing how much different the thing you loved was compared to others in school. I knew that being different was basically social suicide, so I kept my mouth shut and blended in with the crowd in middle school and most of high school. In that time, I only met one person I was able to talk about this stuff with openly, and we're still friends today. Anime just wasn't mainstream back then the way it is now. In some ways it still isn't. Some of my college friends who watch anime just stick to watching whatever the super popular shonen is at the time is... unless I absolutely annoy the shit out of them lol I will never get annoyed at someone talking about something they love, especially if it's something I love too :P I never really had the chance to talk about a lot of the things I liked growing up, and to a certain extent I still don't. So I really enjoy watching things like YouTube reactions to things I like, be that anime, video games, music, or books. To circle back to FMA, I like Brotherhood more lol BUT, I totally get what you mean when it comes to the tone. I used to think the 2003 version was better because of how unserious Brotherhood felt at times, especially in the early parts of the show. It definely led to a few arguments with some friends, especially the one that has a framed picture of Winry in his apartment lol Eventually I gave in, Brotherhood really grew on me when I did a rewatch a couple years ago. Maybe I'll change my mind again if I watch the movie haha I love history, so that might actually work. Sorry, this was a long one. I guess I don't know how to shut up either lol

The best debates are the heated ones that prove your anime show is far more superior than your trash anime lol. And especially those debates about who’s best girl of the season. Are the best and most toxic ones.

I never managed to watch the old Hunter x Hunter, just some clips here and there. I always wanted to though! The art really stands out to me :) I’m glad you enjoyed the ramble Verrick, thank you! ❤️

alichuart

I definitely relate to that! Growing up where I did I was one of the few kids that knew what anime was at the time. For that reason I think it’s cool that anime is so popular now :)

alichuart

I could be wrong but I feel that a lot of people that say it’s a “better version” never saw 2003 haha! I personally don’t think the two should even be related with how different they are. Other than the foundation of the story and the beginning setup almost everything has some differences! I get not wanting to rewatch some things. For me it comes down to being scared that it won’t be the same. There’s a lot of animes that I watched at a certain point in my life so I’m afraid that if I rewatch them I won’t view them the same. How I saw something as a teen won’t be the same as an adult, that kinda thing. A big anime I have that feeling with is Code Geass! I also relate to the mega anime crush haha! Granted mine was on Edward but I get it! :P I’m glad you enjoyed the ramble Noct and thanks for your comment ❤️

alichuart

It’s alright Releo, don’t feel left behind! I’m actually a bit jealous because that means you have so many things to try and watch and that’s exciting! :) Take your time and I hope you find some cool series in your anime journey ❤️

Thanks so much for commenting Moy, I really enjoyed reading your experience with anime and FMA :) I think you and I had a similar experience with anime growing up. I may have talked about this on an old ramble of mine but I was very similar to what you described. I was pretty much the only kid that knew and liked anime in school. Because of that and the fear of getting bullied I hid my interests for a while. It didn’t last long though. After a bit I went through a “fuck it” phase and fully embraced myself and stood up for my friends that I made that liked anime too :) Despite it’s challenges, I’m glad that I grew up in the 90s- early 2000s because I was able to enjoy that period in time (downloading sketchy anime episodes, being weird for liking anime, etc.) but overall, I’m happy it’s more mainstream now. It’s cool seeing how far it’s come and all the people that like it now!

Secular Succotash

I've never watched FMA but its cool hearing about how much it means to you, especially in how it influenced your art! I always love hearing stories of how people got to where they are, and the media we consume is a big part of that so I enjoyed this ramble a lot. And I agree 100% with what you said about having debates with people too, the best conversations I've had in life are like that Kind of random, it just be me but I think I heard a little bit of your NC accent when you were talking about the FMA movie lol, maybe all the time spent back home is starting to bring your old accent back a little!

alichuart

I keep getting comments about my accent! I think it is coming back funny enough. I’d say six months is a damn good time for it to slowly creep up on me. Let’s see how I sound in another six months lol xD Some of my coworkers have got a thick ass accent let me tell you. I’m glad you enjoyed the ramble Succotash and hope your job and classes are going well! :)

Moy

I typically don't reply after you do because I get it, you probably have to go through a bunch of replies. But, I think it's awesome interacting with someone that had a similar experience as me. I went through my own "fuck it phase" too. We probably would have been friends lol I'll have to look for that ramble sometime. Stay awesome, Ali.

alichuart

No worries, reply as much as you like! I’ll say this: I may not get time to give a reply all the time but I always make sure to read every comment (unless Patreon doesn’t notify me because that does sometimes happen haha!). I really do appreciate all of you and love talking with you all ^_^
