Hello everyone, I hope your Thursday night is going well :) Going off time the honey badger character is probably going to be done Saturday. I'm still working on the art part of it and I want to make sure it looks good!

I also want to make a slight correction in this video: What I meant to say was, I'm not a degenerate all the time :P When I'm working, I'm very much business only haha!

Crimson command

Really liked the new approach or way you did this ramble very cool also I like the art time-lapse you did pretty cool to see you draw. I've always had a huge respect for artist big or small since I know it takes alot of time and effort for your artworks I guess it's a double edge swords when being able to live or afford a living off commissions you get the luxury of independence but at the same time you kinda have to mange your own work life balance or like make your own schedule and I can definitely get how it quickly can burn you out over time and hurt your passion for art. Honestly for me as long as you enjoy what you do and can make a living off it that's all that matter who's cares if one job doesn't give off the prestige or talk that another does just enjoy what you do and be happy. Taking an art class in college last year definitely taught me that all it takes is time to improve your art like I'm abousltelty terrible at art but would love to draw as a passion or past time but I was always intimated by others are were sooooo much better then me but seeing my own little progress from drawing a crappy stick figure to being able to draw a decently detailed portrait of myself made me really proud of the little progess I made and abousltelty taught that all it takes is the time and patience and anyone can an artist

Sir Skelington

For anyone that thinks that you must be a crazy artist or whatever you're making needs to be perfect, may I direct you to the original web comic of One Punch Man, where you will find the art to not of the highest level lets say, but who doesn't love it. I think the most important thing is that you make something, you can't get better if you never start.

TheGandalf

I'm sorry for your bad experiences in the past with those sort of commissions. Most people that order NSFW pieces tend to be a pretty weird kind, and some don't have too much of that social intelligence. I'm really glad you're doing really well as an artist though! I'm sure it was hard to break through all those barriers and learn the hard way being an artist for a living. Your content is awesome, and It's nice to hear you ramble! e! \o/

Vince

Oh Photoshop my old friend/ enemy. I had to use it for a photo editing class in college and it was tough since I’m a bit color blind and the layers just never cooperated with me! Anyway, really great video Ali it’s fun seeing how you add the different details to your pictures. And yeah, I think regardless if your selling NSFW or SFW content all the creators deserve to be treated with respect. Just because they make it does not mean that they themselves are into it or even want to talk about it with some stranger from the internet! Sorry you had to deal with stuff like that in the past Ali.

Kai Zomei

Thanks for the bit of personal story. Since I came to know you for your ASMR, it's neat to know what you did before then.

JokermanTalon

When you mentioned that you're not a degenerate I immediately thought "Doesn't she own a libraries worth of Doujins?" but then I saw the description and my joke was ruined lol. But in all seriousness I get what you mean. From the other side of things, I can't even imagine talking to someone whos just doing their job and trying to flirt with them just cause they draw NSFW stuff. But also I might not be the best person to even attempt to think about that as I was too awkward to ask someone to draw my Phantasy Star Online 2 character on commission. And I was just looking for SFW stuff for that and I still couldn't do it lol. Overall though, I think a lot of people have issues with content creators in general and I really don't get it. Be it youtubers, online artists, Instagram models, even OnlyFans creators. As long people are doing what they want and aren't hurting anyone or being forced to do it, then I really don't care in like a good way. Like some people consider it "easy money" but if there's an audience for it then I don't really get why do people care.

Artilleries

I was in a very similar situation as you. I kinda always had a thing for drawing - but growing up, I never actually worked on my art skills. Other artists around me also intimidate me, and I was quite nervous to show what I've made. But I'm glad I did, because they are all so supportive <3 It's such a good feeling just being able to interact and talk with people who have more experience than you, it really pushes you to grow your passion. I look forward to seeing where my skills will be at 1 year from now. If you've got an account on any platform, don't be shy to show what you can make!

Artilleries

We should start nominating you for truest words of wisdom, Sir Skelington. I didn't even know about that with One Punch Man, seeing those original artworks and what it evolved to is very inspiring.

Artilleries

I want to abstain from writing very long comments, but there's a lot I want to mention. This video was a very stand-up thing to do. I didn't think you could have more of my respect than you already did, and yet you do. Thanks for sharing some of your less fortunate moments as a former art commissioner. The type of content people put out always seem to influence the way others behave towards them. This can be notably seen with NSFW ASMR channels. They have to put disclaimers on their bio or video descriptions reading "This is only for entertainment" or something like that. I can only imagine what prompted them to preface that... *sigh* This reminds me of something... Two years ago, an ASMR channel announced that she would stop producing content due to the "creepy emails" she's been receiving - even after asking them to stop. Unbeknownst to me, she would actually delete her channel and socials altogether. To this day, I'm still sad about that. I loved her voice, her roleplay personalities, and she would read comments. 'Molkiey Audio' was the name, the only trace left of her is a speedpaint on YouTube of (what was once) her profile avatar. It's really cute, 'literally ducky' did a great job. Check it out if you're interested; "Molkiey Audio » request #5 » speedpaint" URL: DuDHZzCCSdg Now I would like to talk about this art time-lapse. Seeing your drawing slowly unfold before my eyes was truly magnificent. I'll be honest, I always think: "how tf does she get her lines so smooth?!" whenever I see your art. MortALI Kombat took me a good 12-14 hours because I was determined to make the linework as neat as possible. If you, Zach and Secular were gonna see it, I wanted to make sure it looked good. I'm guilty to admit I sometimes try to impress you three :') BUT I can see now that spending a while on the outlines is not just a me thing. I find comfort in that :) I'm glad it's not just me drawing mouths like 27 times before I'm happy with it. lol AND, I know exactly the feeling you got when you re-coloured the skin shading to the 'correct' colour. The unveal. It's always satisfying. Right now, I won't be drawing for a while but I do plan on purchasing myself a creative display tablet. I think it'll make it a lot more enjoyable for me! Have a great day, Ali and listeners.

I'm glad you enjoyed this week's ramble! Sometimes my computer is very moody and doesn't let me record myself drawing, but I'm very happy I was able to make this speedpaint style video for you all ^_^ I'll be sure to do more like this when my computer lets me lol. I've mentioned this before, but I think it's really important for people to understand the difference between a job and hobby/passion. The approach you take is going to be different and when they mix it can get messy if you're not careful. It can be done but I like to be open about the possibility of burnout since it really sucks. That's really awesome about your art class! Seeing yourself improve is a great feeling :) It's very easy to get intimated by others but never let it stop you from improving. Even very skilled artists have things they aren't the best at. Everyone is different but that's what makes art cool :D

alichuart

I couldn't have said it better! I was shocked (in a good way) when I learned about the origins of One Punch Man. I absolutely love it and it really shows that if you're passionate about something other people will come to enjoy it too.

alichuart

Thanks so much, I appreciate that a lot! Most of my commission experiences were amazing. I would say 90% of people were cool with very creative characters and ideas. That 10% though, they really are something else lol. Btw, I've been wanting to tell you that I really love your username, I'm such a big LoTR fan. I hope you have a nice time here in my little part of the shire :P

alichuart

I can understand your frustration with Photoshop for sure. I've never taken a photo editing class, but I can imagine that was both fun and tedious! When I first started drawing Photoshop was the program I tried first, and I was terrible. I could never find settings I was comfortable using so I ultimately switched to Sai and then Manga/Clip Studio. I'm really glad you enjoyed the ramble and thanks a bunch for your comment <3

alichuart

Haha, yeah even when I made that comment I thought, "I should have said not a degenerate all the time" xD I'm a WoW player for crying out loud; we're all degenerates in some way! When I was talking in this audio I contemplated if I wanted to talk about other art experiences such as commissioning an artist from the buyer's perspective, but it was already getting a little long. I think it's very common to hear commission experiences from the perspective of the artist but not so much the buyer. I used to commission quite a bit of art, so I've dealt with stuff there too. Maybe I'll talk about that in another ramble! As for the content creator issue, I've always been under the belief that if it's not hurting others or me then I don't care, but like you said, in a good way. I always found it strange when people would get worked up over what others did. It's amazing how there are so many options available and yet some people tend to still focus on what they don't like lol.

cloudberrybob

When you mention artists drawing stick figures and people being into it, it reminded me of optical-core who animates stick figures and gets millions of views. People will appreciate anything if it's good Search heat vs repulsion if you're curious

alichuart

Thanks for sharing that story, Antoni. It made me really sad to hear that happened to a content creator. As someone who really dislikes seeing others getting bullied that really struck a nerve with me. Getting burnout is one thing but getting harassed to the point of quitting is something different. That really is a shame and I hope whatever it is that person is doing now they are OK. As for the description bio disclaimers, I admit I only started doing that after youtube pulled that crap with me, which is so silly lol. I'm sure there are various reasons why people feel the need to do it though, so I understand that for sure. I've only drawn nsfw content, so I can imagine the terrible things those who voice nsfw stuff deal with. I'm sure it's similar but something tells me it may be a bit worse. I know how weird people can get with stuff like that. As for your art journey, I'm really happy to hear you enjoy sharing your stuff with us! ^_^ Your hard work shows, and it makes me happy to see it in my notifications/timeline. Keep up the awesome work! When you get a display tablet, PLEASE get yourself a screen protector. Even if it says it has a built in one still get one for the love of God lol. And don't even get me started on the number of times I have to redo a mouth or just a face in general when I draw, it drives me insane xD

JokermanTalon

Honestly being a degenerate isn't that bad as long as you're not harassing people. I'm up for any stories though, hopefully they aren't as bad as the ones in this video lol. For the content creator stuff, it's also a lot of effort to hate things which also makes me wonder why people do it. I do not have the time for that.

Secular Succotash

“Is a chef always hungry when they’re cooking?” Damn that’s a spot on analogy. It’s like those delusional mfers who think an employee just being nice means they’re flirting. Like nah man, they’re doing their job, chill out. Honestly though, I think that kind of entitled mentality is a huge problem in general with how people interact with creators online in general. Be it artists, streamers, YouTubers, or whatever. Like people seem to forget that at the end of the day the creator themself is a stranger to you and you should act accordingly. It’s just mutual respect man, you think a grown ass person woulda figured that out.

Secular Succotash

My guy you’re not alone. I’m always doing my mouths over and over again and I never end up completely satisfied in the end haha

alichuart

I'm glad you liked that! I tried to think of something that I felt could be relatable and the chef thing was the best I had haha! xD It's definitely a strange world (both real and online) we live in. I'm not sure if you watch any vtubers, but damn, some people get really disrespectful there. I think they best way to deal with people like that is to distance yourself or ignore/block them completely. Sometimes when I'd finish a commission for someone that acted that way, I just wouldn't talk to them again after the drawing was done. That was my way of saying "Nope, not again" lol

dead to me

NSFW stuff, to me at least (I'm certainly not alone in this), feels less like a perverted hobby and more of an aesthetic interest. Not so much wank as is an enjoyment of the venus-esque forms of anatomical beauty/potential. Expression is at both it's best and worst without censorship, it's a fine line to balance but has produced some of the most divine art I've ever seen. And the most grotesque abominations I can never forget. I like that this page is SFW tho. The art gives more of a modern day pin-up girl art vibes: classy cuties with sexy poses, but with words and voice and rad storielines. Its collaborated form has more merit than like... the more fantasy gf clickbait deals I'm sure we've all dredged thru at some point. Not that those don't have merit either. Its all just good fun in the end.

alichuart

Your comment reminded me of an experience I had in high school once. I've always been into art, especially painters. Even though I can't paint worth a damn, I absolutely love looking at paintings. One of my favorite artist is Gustav Klimt (perhaps inspired by my love of Elfen Lied, but let's forget that for now). I had a book of his paintings and I remember being picked on and called a pervert for it. Really pissed me off back then lol. I very much agree with you in that it's an aesthetic interest for me. Same goes for the creepy/scary art. Even though I like the weird/dark stuff my style is the complete opposite haha! xD That's what happens when you grow up watching too much kawaii desu anime. I'm glad you like it though, thank you <3

alichuart

I have a few stories that are a little out there, but those are mainly as me being the artist haha! Most the artists I commissioned were amazing. I only have a few bad experiences there but nothing too crazy. Does being an ass hole in WoW pvp count? Because if so I'm a terrible person for sure lol. I swear that's the most degenerate I am other than my collection of hobbies.

JokermanTalon

I more meant so I hope you don't have bad stories for your sake lol. I personally like hearing of peoples struggles but at the same time feel so bad for them. I think it counts, any amount of toxicity is a little degenerate. I mainly played COD, Halo, and Battlefield in the early 2000s and 2010s so I have been drenched in xbox 360 toxicity and would consider that also very degenerate lol.
