This time I ramble about how my previous month was along with my adventures in hardcore classic WoW so far. Some have been funny while others infuriating xD

I chat about other random things too so come and chill for a while! :)

As someone that actually is working with AI tools at times especially in work, it's such a delicate conversation. To me, personally, AI taking over the market in general is an issue that everyone has to look to. Heck, even programmers might be afraid. AI generative stuff is starting to take the market share of content regarding images, and jobs revolving around concept art are going down too. The method of how it does it is questionable too, and it's why when I thought of using those sort of tools to make my own game, I didn't feel comfortable actually using such AI tools to make something I'd sell or publish. I do play around with it privately, but I refuse to publish anything with my personal attribution that has content made with generative AI. Even if I'm a supporter of advancements in tech, when I have doubts, I prefer not to apply it. Also, please be careful of emails that want you to playtest games! If they send you the game personally via zip/exe, it might not be safe to open! We game devs don't send people games directly because of it being a security concern. Definitely make sure to look every sponsor up, research, and have a good conversation before anything. I'll usually send friends to a passworded itch.io page on my end. The site has a lot of ways to help with this. Also, yes, trade chat can be so funny sometimes. xD! I had my own share of quirky conversations on it. That definitely sounds like a rogue. Your buddy sounds like a good floor tank! :D And yeah he definitely overshot. Never underestimate classic wow mobs. :P I would love to get back into wow sometimes if you wouldn't mind a priest with you in that case. \o/ Thank you for the ramble! Always good to listen! And honestly, your art is so unique and nice, I believe it when you say no matter the skill level, should always not be afraid to post work out there. I wanna try to do the same for my games work but it's so hard to reign in my scope sometimes. :( !!!

Honestly, not a huge fan of AI stuff either. For me, and I’m sure for a lot of others, drawing is a skill I had to work for to be able to do. It wasn’t like I popped out the womb knowing how to draw well, it took effort. And like any skill I have to draw regularly to remain proficient. So for someone to just hit a button and have a computer generate a picture no work required…Nah. That just lacks any of the time and work real art takes. It’s kind of insulting to think that people are selling that stuff when there’s a lot of hard working artists who are much more deserving of those commissions than someone just using a random algorithm to generate “art” that isn’t even a new creation, just an amalgamation of millions of (probably stolen) art pieces. It’s fine as a tool I guess and as a novelty, but it shouldn’t replace real artists. As for the WoW stuff, congrats on not dying at level 15! Honestly a night elf that’s only a healer because they’re pissed about their partner being a reckless troll is a hilarious character idea, I know I’d watch a show about that! Also, after hearing your story about the spit emote followed by the Keanu Reeves bit, my brain immediately made a connection, “Keanu is pissed about the removal of the spit emote: Keanu Seethes” Hopefully I did the bit right haha

I abousltelty hate AI art well maybe hate is too strong so Maybe strongly dislike but artist like yoruself especially small ones work so hard on their art work just to see someone with AI copy it and get the attention is beyond frustrating and a huge demoraliztion especially since you guys put alot work and time into your art. I got lost with all the WoW stuff lol but even though I don't understand anything lol I still love hearing your stories when when you play it's very cool to hear your other interests. Ooooo that would be so cool I'd love to listen your ghost stories or spooky stories I love ghost stories and I still love Halloween and to dress up even though my days of trick or treating are over it's still fun for me. I can't wait for your spooky stories whenever that me be it's gonna be so cool

I've had other shady offers come my way before, and yours sounded like it fit the "Do not trust" category. It is odd to me how someone for a finished product would just use AI generated art for the final product instead of getting genuinely good quality art. That WoW story: your partner sure sounded like quite the character. Also, thank you for the birthday wish, it was very nice to hear. You got my name right. Very sweet of you to do that. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I'm not a creator so I don't know how valuable my opinion is about AI, but for the most part I think I agree with most people take that it's kinda low effort and shouldn't be encouraged. However I do think AI could help make smaller tools for creators to use that doesn't just complete the whole thing for them. There is also a bit of gray area that I am personally fine with. For example there is a game called Monster Girl 1,000, fair warning it is a NSFW game if anyone happens to look it up, that has all of the major content done by the artist. So like the art of the girls, the story, "other" scenes, gameplay, etc. is all hand done. But they used AI to generate a few of the more generic backgrounds that weren't plot relevant such as a generic forest or castle background. That to me seems like a fine use especially as the game was made by a single person and a few extra people they contracted. For WoW though, I can see myself running out of oxygen and dying like in that story. I tend to get a bit of tunnel vision in games lol. Also while the spit emote is gone, it is incredibly funny the reason it was removed. People spitting on players that bought mounts is peak comedy. Also as for my future plans for the month, it's all games all the time, so much stuff I want to play is coming out, please help me lol. In particular though I am really looking forward to Lies of P and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Looking forward to the upcoming content, especially the .hack// one now that I have actually played some of the games. Hope you and everyone else have a good September!

As impressive as AI art is, I don't think it will ever replace human-made art. You can always tell when an image is made by AI, it just looks... off somehow. It's hard to describe, like all of the lines and colours and shading are all perfect (sometimes), but there's no life behind the art, no soul in the eyes of the characters. I've been following the discourse around AI replications of voice over artists on twitter. Some people are so inconsiderate, even berating an artist just for requesting people to stop making AI copies or song covers of their voice. There needs to be new laws introduced, but unfortunately right now we're kind of in the wild west of AI, and people are exploiting what they can before it becomes illegal.

Artilleries

Agreed. Many non-artistic ASMR roleplay creators use AI art in their thumbnails but they make sure to preface that in the description. Though, most of the time I already knew from looking at it. AI sometimes creates weirdly shaped pupils, or in one case, the girl's hair seemingly morphed into her gunstrap. Pretty bizarre lol

Artilleries

Haha, nice! Your WoW stories sound like they

Artilleries

I'm kidding XD Your WoW stories sound like they're begging for some roleplay integration? The listener can assume the role of your WoW friend while you scream your guts out at us. Get that frustration you felt during those moments out at last! haha I totally get you on the AI art thing. Not only was that email sent to multiple content creators, but clearly they did not even think to distinguish between unrelated content vs artists - who would see this sort of stuff differently. I remember one time, I was curious to see if AI can actually recreate my bizarre imaginations. Spoiler alert; they can't. At least not without me paying a large sum. I knew from then on, if I want a specific idea visually fabricated, imma need to take matters into my own hands and draw it myself. (Thus was born Theodore Robovelt) Because, you see, us *humans* have imagination. Machines don't. That's one reason I think possessing even the most basic drawing skills is actually important. I look forward to getting back into practicing. This month is going to be awesome! c u later, Ali-gator

I didn't understand anything you said since I don't play wow though I can understand your anger I mean. game create neuron activation in small brain of mine which make me mad at game I angry. Is what happens with me though I assume it's diffrent with you

Sir Skelington

Bruh I haven't even told my best friend since high school my birthday. For me I've been slowly work my way though S ranking all of Armored Core 6. In my opinion ai cant actually make art, it's not inspired. All of ai images are basically just it tracing over other artist work and coming up with an amalgamation of other images. To me ai images also just have this uncanny look to them to where you can always tell it wasn't made by a person.

Artilleries

I'm debating myself on whether or not to try Armored Core 6, it's good? Also very true on the AI art thing. At the core of it, art is inspiration and expression; i.e. feelings. Something machines literally cannot do... yet.

Sir Skelington

I really enjoy ac6 it's definitely a fromsoft game, I wouldn't say it's too hard or too easy, just like Elden Ring it's only as difficult as you make it. If you want to go into a mission with literally no weapons at all then it'll be difficult, but if you go in with the best weapons for that mission you'll mop up. The most important things to have in the game is knowledge and experience. I think a lot of people miss the endings as well because you're meant to get all three to really get everything out of the game. But if you're wanting a game with a very explained story that has immersive cutscenes then this ain't the game. If you end up getting it and have trouble let me know if I can do anything to help.

I'm glad you enjoyed the ramble! :) Thanks for your comment too, it's interesting to think about AI from a game perspective. I could see such tech coming in handy for some things. I'm not sure if the range in which the photos get taken from can be limited, but if all the images were in some way self made (whether drawn or photographed) and then made into something new- that may be kinda cool! As for the game "offer" I definitely didn't open any links they sent. As soon as I read the AI part I noped out xD When it comes to making your own game, I think that's really awesome! I'm not sure of the process but if it's something you want to do, I say do it. Even if it's just for practice or fun I'm sure there will be people out there to enjoy it!

alichuart

Oh man, I couldn't agree more with you. I think some people have the idea that people are born with talent when in reality they worked hard to be able to do what they're doing. Like you said, no one comes out of the womb knowing how to do anything. I know people mean no harm when they say someone is talented, but I think for those that make things they start to catch on that there is a difference between talent and skill. That alone pretty much sums up why I dislike AI art. It kinda "spits" on the hard work of real people. See what I did there- I'll see myself out xD Loved your Keanu comment btw- that was good! Are you sure you're not on WoW trade chat? Your addition would have fit in so well! Maybe one day I'll do a funny roleplay based on my adventures. A pissed off healer does sound fun to play!

alichuart

I was recently browsing artwork and saw a cool fanart piece. When I viewed the full image I felt something was off- sure enough it was created using AI. It was a real bummer since I got excited thinking I found a cool artist, only to be shut down lol. I'm glad you enjoyed the audio! I'll definitely be recording a spooky/ghost story one too at some point. This is my favorite time of year so I think it would be fitting ^_^

alichuart

All the offers I've gotten have turned out to be really shady- this one in particular just rubbed me the wrong way lol. It's pretty crazy the prices some of them ask for it. I know people are free to price however they like but when they're not physically doing anything it's kinda strange to me too. I hope you had an awesome birthday Kai and enjoy the rest of your weekend too! :)

alichuart

I've never heard of that game, but I'll be checking it out! I'm always up for seeing monster girl art...for research purposes :P The context that you described I think I'm fine with too. I'm not entirely sure how the whole process works, but if you can use images that you as the person made in some way (photography/drawing, etc.) and use AI to make it easier, I'm down for that- especially in a video game. Hell, it may make it look more realistic lol. It's the grabbing pieces from everyone and everywhere that I don't enjoy, really takes away from the work of the original. If all the artists involved were cool with it though more power to them! Sadly, I don't think that's the case though for most AI stuff. Oh God, please don't get me started on that hideous store mount x__x When it came out I was so irritated. Not only did I find the whole thing ridiculous but it's ugly as sin. I have and always be pro-spit lol xD Sounds like you have a really fun month ahead of you! I never played it, but I do remember a Cyberpunk game that people were talking about a while back. I hope you enjoy all the games! Knowing you I'm sure you'll finish them all in good time too :D

alichuart

I've been seeing some stuff about the voice issues with AI. That really is terrible. I can only imagine the weird things people probably do using people's voices. I think there will come a time in the near future where laws will have to be made. So many copyright issues are afoot that I think it's going to be hard to ignore.

alichuart

Haha, ngl writing a story based on my WoW adventures does sound pretty fun. A pissed off healer is a character I'm definitely up for playing xD As for the AI stuff, I've seen people offering it as a commission which piqued my interest as to why. Thinking about it, the process seems like something someone could just do themself, but they pay others to do it instead. This is a hard pill to swallow as someone who draws, but I think the reality is that some people don't care how something is created so long as it looks good. I don't think everyone is like this though! Even with AI I'm sure people will still appreciate human made art too, we'll be known as "organic artists" lol :P I kid of course- it is interesting to talk about though. I'm both scared and curious as to where it will go from here.

alichuart

I know when I get going about WoW I can just keep rambling lol. I hope it was still relaxing for you though! :) I'm definitely different when I play games but I know at the end of the day it's all just for fun haha!

alichuart

It's OK Skelly, I get that! Since you're an undead I'll just assume you were born on Halloween :P I told this story to someone else here, but I was browsing art one day and came across a really cool fanart piece of Albedo from Overlord. I was amazed until I started getting a good look at it- something looked off. Sure enough it was made using AI ; o ; It bummed me out since I thought I found a cool artist at first.

JokermanTalon

I would defiantly look at the artist of the game if you're interested as they do also make a lot more traditional art (twistedscarlett60), but I just find their games really charming and in particular Monster Girl 1,000 is also a really fun RPG. If I remember the comments from a few months ago it's the same game, Phantom Liberty is just the DLC for it. Also since it is brand new, it also has a few references to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners which is the anime in the same universe and it's very good, I think people were also mentioning it when they were talking about the game a while ago.

alichuart

As soon as I looked up the artist a lot of memories come back to me. I think they were around during the time I drew nsfw stuff because their art seems so familiar, especially the MLP stuff- really nice style they have, I like it! :) I have yet to see that Cyberpunk anime, only because I keep forgetting to check it out lol. The game DLC does look cool though. Asmon was coincidently watching a video of it and the graphics looked really nice! I hope you enjoy playing it :D

JokermanTalon

Oh I see, that's neat! Also makes sense that you would see their MLP art. I also enjoy their artwork a lot, it's very cute. Their first game, and the only reason I know about them lol, is an MLP parody visual novel. I only played it to mess with my friend as they used to be a brony, but I ended up really liking the game as their writing is very good. So I now try to play all the games they release. Also I just remembered something about Monster Girl 1,000 that you in particular would probably like lol, the main two female protagonists are a an elf girl and a demon girl. I think it's worth watching, it also has almost nothing to do with the game so it's okay for anyone to watch.

alichuart

Oh, very nice- I'll have to check that out! Thanks for the recommendation ^_^
