Okay, so it took a bit of working through things in the discussion, but I finally figured out why everyone was freaking out about Elena getting sacrificed. I thought we knew that information already. But then I realized that to kill Klaus, it needs to be after the sacrifice because he'll be more vulnerable. I'm idiot, who needed a ridiculous amount of time to figure this out, but I got there in the end. 🙄
So, Elena and Stefan go to the lake house for the weekend to relax. But, unfortunately, Jules and Brady have decided to break the curse themselves and they need the moonstone and Elena. So, Brady heads to the cabin to kidnap her. Tyler goes with him and they sort of hold Stefan hostage while they try to get Elena. However, Stefan ends up telling Tyler that they need to kill Elena to break the curse and he has a change of heart and let's him go.
While that's happening, Brady is chasing Elena through the house. She manages to stab him a couple of times, but it doesn't do more than slow him down for a second or two. Thankfully, as she runs out of the house, Stefan (who as been freed by Tyler) is there and yanks out his heart, killing him.
Meanwhile, Jules and some other werewolves have 'killed' Alaric, and drugged Damon. When Damon wakes up, he's in some Saw-like torture device. Every time he refuses to tell them where the moonstone is, he gets wooden stakes jabbed into his neck. Eventually, Elijah shows up with the moonstone, and kills of a bunch of them. Jules escapes, and he sets Damon free.
Trying to find out what Luka knows, Bonnie puts him into some sort of trance to get actually answers from him. And they find out that he and his dad are working with Elijah because Klaus has his sister, and Elijah has promised to get her back if they help him. She also discovers the way to kill Klaus is that after the sacrifice of Elena, he'll be weaker and vulnerable. So, this means, that Elijah definitely plans to kill Elena. Which has everyone freaked out.
Damon tells Stefan this, and he tells Elena who is unbothered by it. She claims she knew what she was getting into when she made this deal with Elijah. Stefan is pissed, but Elena claims that she'd rather her life than everyone she loves.
And after what happened this episode, Tyler decides to leave town with Jules. He wanted to break the curse because he doesn't want to be a werewolf, but he didn't realize that Elena had to die for it happen, so he just leaves. Which, I get.
