So, it looks like we're gonna have to tell Jenna what's actually going on. If she'll ever talk to us again. Sigh. I hate that this is how it's gonna have to come out.
I got so confused during the discussion. And I'm confused now. Lol. While I was watching, I had no problems. It all made sense, but somehow, afterwards, I'm totally mixed up on when Elena and Katherine were each other. So, if I get this wrong, just know I understood just find when I watched. 😳
Katherine is still claiming that she's just here to help kill Klaus. However, it turns out that she and Isobel are apparently close, and Isobel (who is also claiming she's just here to protect Elena) tells her that she made a deal with Klaus to spare Katherine's life if they give him the moonstone and the doppelgänger. Katherine heads back to the Salvatore's and desperately searches the house for the moonstone. And she finds it, in the soap dish. I guess they thought they were hiding it in plain sight, but that didn't really work.
Then, Isobel kidnaps Elena while Stefan leaves with Katherine (that he thinks is Elena). As soon as he realizes it's Katherine, she injects him with vervain and tosses him into the woods. She heads back to the house Isobel is staying at and calls her. Turns out, Isobel was being compelled and set Katherine up. There is a witch at the house waiting to take her to Klaus. However, it does seem like Isobel might actually care about Elena. After she gets the call that Klaus has the moonstone and Katherine, she's told she can let Elena go. After apologizing to Elena, she yanks off her necklace and lets herself burn in the sun.
Meanwhile, Matt goes to talk to Caroline. He's still skittish around her, but asks for the whole story. After she tells him everything, he tells her he can't handle it and wants her to make him forget. So she does. But, it turns out, he is working with Liz and drank some vervain, so he's unable to be compelled. He gets into the car with Liz is recounts everything Caroline told him. This is gonna be bad. Last time we had to compel Liz to forget that Damon and Stefan were vampires, we had to hold her captive for days to wait for the vervain to get out of her system.
Also, Bonnie has figured out where all the witches died, and she heads over to channel their power. It seems like she might have enough power to actually stop Klaus now, but also, using it all might kill her. Solve one problem, gain two more.
At the end of the episode, we see that somehow, this witch of Klaus' has figured out how to put the spirit of Klaus (I guess?) into Alaric. And, he's here, in this apartment with a trapped Katherine.
Oh, and Damon and Stefan want to sign the boarding house over to Elena so she'll be safer there.
