This is easily one of my favourite films now! The whole concept of being trapped in the past and having to fix things so the future is intact is flawless in this. Also just the anxiety I felt throughout most of the third act was crazy!! Enjoy :)

Been waiting for this one for a while, couldn't believe when you said you've never seen them. Absolute banger classics. They use this script in film school to teach students how to write good ones, it's considered essentially a perfect film by many. You should check out some behind the scenes or documentary style stuff about the first film, there's quite a bit of it and it's pretty interesting; despite how competent the end product was, it had a very troubled production and almost never even made it off the ground.

Finally 🥰💝

I’d say I watch this three times a year. It’s my husband’s favourite movie. We can out-quote each other on the regular. And I LOVE that you loved it.

Danielle Lewis

Also a favourite of mine! So happy you loved it too!

Elizabeth Gidney

One of my favorite movies, I love Michael J Fox. I recommend The Adam Project.

kalindiinga28

Love this movie so much, so glad you're reacting to it 😊 are you going to watch the whole trilogy?

Kelsey Cook

Definitely excited for you to watch the next two! :) It’s one of those franchises where all of them are great.

Amanda P

One of the best trilogies of all time! So excited to watch this

Evie

Can’t wait to watch this! Have you ever seen Fantastic Mr Fox? I feel like it’s a great movie for October!

DarkBlondeWatch

another movie i love is called Vice Versa.

Marie-Louise

Now that you're watching Stranger Things and Back to the future, you have to check out DARK next🤗!!

skauing

This is my favourite movie of all time!! I yelled when I saw the notification lmao, I can't wait to watch this! 🤩

Oh you’re in for a ride!!!!

Yay! This reaction was pure joy. There's a lot of fun facts about this film, but I won't leave you a novel about them here, instead, I'll just leave one here. Two songs from the band, Huey Lewis Louis and News, are featured in the film. One of them is at the very start of the movie when Marty is skateboarding to school, "The Power Of Love." The other is near the end of the film, when Marty wakes up after returning to the present. His clock radio wakes him up with, ""Back In Time." In the scene at school near the start of the movie, when Marty tries out with his band the Pinheads, there is a judge that stands up and says, "I'm afraid you're just too darn loud." That's Huey Lewis. Part of the joke is that, according to the writers, Huey Lewis and the News is supposed to be Marty's favorite band, and the band's head is the one who rejects him. You should absolutely watch the other two in the trilogy, and it sounds like you're going to, which is fantastic, but a word of warning. No spoilers, I promise. At the end of the second film, there is a trailer for the third film, which spoils a big part of the plot that it'll be more fun if you don't know going in. When the end happens, you'll see the film's title sequence that was at the start of this film, only with different words instead of "Back to the Future." I won't say what they are, because that in itself could be considered a minor spoiler, but you'll know it when you see it. The trailer happens right after it, so when you see the words zoom on screen, stop the movie. That way you won't see the trailer. In my opinion, the second and third aren't quite as good, just because this one has the benefit of being so new, but they're both still fantastic. Really looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. Great job, Oscar. Keep 'em comin'.

Hey, Aussie. I'm excited to watch this with you. I've seen it once. 😀 Tomorrow morning before I head out I to my trail. I'll be watching your inception.

Melissa Creel

If you look at the mall sign, when Marty leaves it says Twin Pines Mall. When he returns it says Lone Pines Mall referring to the fact he destroyed the pines on the farm. Great attention to detail.

Tom

A perfect example of a silly movie that's also great. Your reaction when you figure out the lightning plot device. Like you were hit by a bolt of lightning 🤣

Kate

One of the best trilogies tbh. Perfect uses of exposition and details scattered through all three that almost demand you watch them back to back

Thomas B

14 y/o me had THE biggest crush on Michael J Fox when I first saw this 🤣

Amy Silknitter

You have to watch all 3 but at the end of 2 skip the preview of 3. They practically show you the whole movie.

chvrrvism

rewatching this after seeing stranger things is kinda insane because marty and steve are lowkey so alike in the way they look and speak

Valerie Reed

Hey Oscar, I don’t know how often you read the comments but I’m going to repeat a previous comment I left on one of your ST reactions. I am hard of hearing, and since you keep the audio levels for whatever you’re watching low, it’s sometimes difficult or even impossible to hear what’s going on in the film/movie. In the future, it would be a huge help if you wouldn’t mind turning on the subtitles for whatever you’re watching. Thanks!

Tua Storfält

Great reaction! If you like this, then you would love the series DARK. It's the best series ever made to be honest, the amount of thought put in to that series is incredible. And the casting, the acting, the story, the cinemetografy... I can't praise it enough, it's truly one of a kind. Would love you see you reaction to the best series ever made :)

Dave M.

One of my all-time favorite trilogies besides Lord of the Rings and the original trilogy of Star Wars (ep. 4, 5, 6).

Potato 101

When I came on Patreon i was gonna watch some other guy but when to check ur channel for new stranger things and saw this and haven’t seen this movie since I was 13 so I’m watching this now instead

Keirstin Meunier

This trilogy is a comfort watch for me for sure. I remember wearing out the VHS tapes as a kid and my parents finally buying us the DVDs lol

Sarah Marion

I love how this movie doesn’t hold your hand when it comes to connecting the clues showcased at the beginning of the movie

aleena

this movie always makes me think of oedipus 😭😭 sophocles took that mother/son plotline thing much further though

Paul

Never noticed that detail before, awesome!

Robin

This movie is such a blast, right?! It's also incredible that this movie (or any of the franchise) has not been remade in nearly 40 years. The series is so much fun on rewatch - there are so many little details that are just delightful to discover every time. Side note: once you watch all 3, I'd highly recommend the AppleTV documentary on Michael J. Fox, "Still."

Derrick Belone

YOOOOOO!! I haven’t watch this movie in foreverrrrrr.. watch this with you brought it all back and I had SOOOO MUCH FUN!! I forgot how the movie went and it felt the first time watching it again.. that was awesome!! I’m ready for the next back to the future! I forgot that one as well, but will patiently wait to watch with yah.. great feedback and use of your description of the film. 🙌🏽💯🔥🫶🏽

NW

My favorite movie, even when its time travel didn't make sense, it was the thing that started my love about it. And the script is just perfect, there is no scene without a motive or payoff, even if its only a comic one or if its hidden like the twin pines joke. Just amazing.

Rhetorical Thrill

Robert Zemekis has basically said that this will be remade over his dead body, so I'm hoping he outlives me

Rhetorical Thrill

I came here to say this, I'm so glad you did it already! I have no idea why they do that, it's so annoying how it gives all the best stuff away.

Rhetorical Thrill

"It was so many close calls!" - Parts 2 and 3 have entered the chat 🤣 For real though, I'm so glad you liked it and had a good time! This is easily in my top 10 films, and the trilogy as a whole is one of very few that I give a thumbs up to, so I can't wait to see the rest!

Rhetorical Thrill

This is like the only time travel movie where it makes sense to me, because NO LOOPS 🤣 Time is linear here and I appreciate it, I like how changes in the past can visibly affect the timeline.

Fenixnade

however you feel about Rick and Morty - it's an homage in a way to Doc and Marty There are so many interesting details regarding the timelines in these movies. and the sequels are great as well! Glad you liked this one!

Brian Matthews

This movie set the bar for so many movies after it. The sequels were just as good. The ending of the third and last one was my favorite. Michael J. Fox is a national treasure! So sad that as he was filming "Doc Hollywood" (which is a great film as well) he noticed a constant tremor in his hand...he was diagnosed with Parkinson's shortly after, and today he has helped keep awareness, and raised LOTS of cash for Parkinson's research, and patient resources. He still insists on being out in the community regardless of his advanced Parkinson's. and he is loved by so many people! Christopher Lloyd is one of the, if not the greatest character actors ever! It is so satisfying that he and Michael are still close, and Christopher congradulated Michael for a recent Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award (Oscar)! Christopher's comedic ability is legend. LOVED them and this movie...it was part of my young adult-hood! Brian

Hi Oscar, I was also going to mention Huey Lewis. For those of us who were around in the 80’s Huey Lewis and the News were a very well known band. The fact that Marty was playing their song for his audition and it was actually Huey Lewis using the bullhorn saying they were too loud was very funny at the time because everyone in the audience knew it was Huey Lewis. Unfortunately, nobody gets that joke anymore.

Sarah Marion

What’s Cole’s Radio?

Rich H

This movie is so fun to watch with someone who hasn't seen it before! Can't wait for parts 2 and 3!

Liam

I only ever saw the last half and hour of this film before but i love the comedy in it and the relationship marty and his dad have is so sweet. You should watch Hot fuzz soon its one of my favourite films ive watched it twice in one week.

maemisfitz

So happy you reacted to this before watching more stranger things! I have another important tip, you can take it or leave it 😂 at the end of the second film, it says "to be concluded". Then they show a few clips from the third movie, a little too many to be a trailer. In case you just want to go in blind

maemisfitz

Also just confirming, the man becoming mayor is not a paradox or loop. It does seem like it would be, but if that were the case then the story of GEORGE getting hit by the car wouldn't exist in the first place, and Marty's family would have already been well off

skauing

I came back to watch this a second time! This movie is perfection to me. The cast is spectacular, and Michael J. Fox + Christopher Lloyd's chemistry is unmatched, they easily make my favourite fictional duo of all time. I believe the script for this movie is one they very often teach in writing classes, because it's so tight, not a second is wasted and everything leads into or pays off another thing, the tension is just delicious, the list goes on. I have watched this movie literally hundreds of times and it's still a nailbiter! I'm beyond excited for you to watch the rest!! Also here to echo the people who are suggesting Fantastic Mr. Fox and Hot Fuzz (Shaun of the Dead + The World's End are also excellent!) if you haven't watched them yet! BttF is my all-time favourite, but both of those are easily in my top 10 also, possibly even top 5..!

Michael Short

You have to watch 2 and 3 now :)

Jenny MacRunnel

One of the best movies of all time, for sure! The next 2 are really fun too. Its important to try to remember as many details as you can, almost everything comes up again. This is a perfect trilogy IMO. And they would never make this movie today. We are way too "Woke" for that haha!

Amanda P

Anyone who doesn't have a crush on him is crazy 😆 he's a cutie

Timothy Panngam

It was great to see you react to one of my all time favorite movies. I saw this in the summer of 1985 at the age of 19 with one of my Navy buddies. There are so many cool cultural elements and easter eggs. There are some things that you definitely won't pick up on the first time through. One thing I love to mention is the comic significance of making the time machine out of a DeLorean. It was quite a gag at the time. When they were making the film, it had only been a few years since a huge scandal in 1982 put the DeLorean Motor Company out of business and sent it's founder John DeLorean to jail (he tried to sell a large amount of cocaine to keep his business afloat). The line in the movie where Marty says, "You made a time machine... out of a DeLorean" was a really big laugh line at the movie theater in 1985 because of the scandal. Today the DeLorean is both famous and infamous and has achieved a legendary status (in no small part because of this film). In 1985, it was anything but cool. So, very long story short, today when people see this film for the first time, they never laugh at that line.

Timothy Panngam

There are also allot of small moments in this film. Little cultural easter eggs that are often missed. Spielberg was born in 1946. He was 9 years old at the time the film takes place in 1955. The 50's would hold nostalgia for him but also curiosity for the many things he wasn't fully aware of as a preteen. I like things like the scene at the gas station where Marty is struggling to 'twist' open a coke bottle. George absently notices and grabs the bottle, opening it with the built-in opener near at hand and handing it back. I read online that the twist-off cap was invented in the 1960's but I think the twist-off cap wasn't widely used in the U.S. until the late 1970's or early 1980's.

This was one of my favorite movies growing up, and I don't think there was a kid in the country who didn't know about it or who hadn't seen it. I'm really glad that you liked it, and I can't wait to see what you think of the other two movies!
