This film had my heart racing more than I was comfortable with. The Terminator machine was a perfect marriage between creepy and horrifying. The whole time travel concept along with the significance of Sarah Connor was also really interesting. p.s sorry about the shift in volume between the action scenes and the dialogue scenes... just the films editing for some reason.

Such a great movie. The second one is even better.

Citizenschnapps

YES! A non Disney movie!! It's been too long. Welcome back, Oscar.

Maisie

Yay! Excited to see a live-action. Crossing my fingers for a drama or dramedy soon. Have you seen Little Miss Sunshine or Room? Both are amazing, Oscar-winning movies and I'd love to see your reactions.

Evie

Little Miss Sunshine is one of my favourites!

Walter Bonsell

I was so hyped when I got the notification for this reaction. Hoping you react to Terminator 2 as it really is one of the best sequels ever made.

Vanesa Jimenez

I was so excited for this reaction when I saw it. The Terminater is such a great franchise. It is very much a product of its time but I love the three main characters. Arnold is terrifying and Sarah and Reese are great together. Judgment day is better in my opinion so looking forward to the next one

Melissa Creel

Love this movie so much. Glad you are seeing it..

Michael

Have you seen True Lies with Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis?

Maisie

Mine too! I’m recovering from a surgery I had on Friday and I’ve watched it three times since then. 😂

Melissa Creel

They did the skeleton with stop motion effects kind of like they used for Nightmare Before Christmas. Cameron made it on a shoestring budget. This was before he became "James Cameron" and he wasn't really known..

Brittney Alvarez

Oh yay! Your *pause* and freak out when the machine started crawling toward Sarah at the end made me laugh 😂 But yeah I’m excited for what’s coming - the second one is even better and may be the best Terminator - it’s so memorable and we get to hear an iconic line 😁 Can’t wait to see the reaction!

Tara

To answer your question about how the Terminator recognized Sarah at the dance club is because the scene right before that when he killed her roommate, he saw a picture of her. I love that Reese said he always wondered what Sarah was thinking about in that picture and we learn that she was thinking about him, we also know why John gave him the picture of Sarah.

Oscar, if you get the chance, watch Terminator 2 Special Edition which has about 15 extra minutes that were cut from the theatrical release.

I've gone back and forth over the years whether I like The Terminator or Terminator 2: Judgement Day more. I'll compare them more when you get to T2, but for now, I think The Terminator is great as a tightly crafted sci-fi story with a good amount of romance, horror, and action to go around.

Lily

I’ve not seen this movie but I support 💪🏼💪🏼

The second one steps it up HARD and has some great surprises for you! I get what you mean about "older" films - the good ones are timeless, even if they're very clearly of a certain time. I hate dropping recommends in unrelated comments but since I don't have a better option, I think you'd really love Willow (1987) and Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998)

Anna H

Please please, for the sequel make sure you check out the extended cut!! There are moments that really embellish the movie. You're going to love it :)

Movie recommendation: Jojo Rabbit.

Ever After is amazing!! Yeah, I hope he adds a poll or something at some point. I always feel bad posting recommendations when I have no idea what he’s seen or not.

Rhetorical Thrill

Right? Everyone has their own preferences for whether and how they want recommends and I never want to be demanding about it, I know too well what that feels like 🤣

I'm still in the middle of the reaction, but I wanted to stop and say this before I forget. If you realized this detail later, then just ignore me. LOL The Terminator didn't know what Sarah looked like when it got to 1984. That's why Reese said to the psychiatrist that it didn't and when it was killing the other Sarahs, it was just being systematic. That's also why it killed Ginger (Sarah's roommate), because like you said, that was Sarah's address, and she's female. But after the Terminator killed Ginger and Sarah's voice came over the answering machine, it realized it got the wrong person. It was going through her drawer, and it found a photo ID of her. That's why when it found her at the club, it was able to zero in on her right away. By then it did know what she looked like because of the photo ID. Great reaction so far, Oskar. I'm really glad you're loving it so much.

Raven Dark

What a great reaction. I hope you'll watch the second one soon. Like some others have said here, as good as this one the second is leagues better. I can't wait to see the reaction to that one. Fantastic job.

Now people are going to tell you that after T2 the rest of the series isn't really any good but if you just enjoy watching movies for the entertainment don't pay attention to the haters. Just know that if you do continue with the series you will meet Kyle Reese again someday. And before you see T2 you need to see James Cameron's 1989 epic underwater thrill ride The Abyss. There's an Industrial Light & Magic special effect in that one that will let you understand why Cameron finally decided to continue the Terminator series. It's a lot like why after seeing a computer generated lifelike Tyrannosaurus Rex run across the movie screen at ILM a few years later that George Lucas realized that his little built from scratch special effects company had matured enough that he could make another Star Wars movie and make it look the way he had always seen it in his head.

Does anyone else randomly think about that fact that Arnold is Chris Pratt’s father in law? I imagine them just chillin together as Terminator and Star-Lord 😂

Lisette C.

The others past #2 are definitely worth checking out too... #3 is the weakest for me, but I absolutely adore #5

Oh you HAVE to watch the second one ASAP. They really fit together, much more than the other sequels.

Brian Nix

FYI, the father-in-law chain is Congressman/Mayor John Fitzgerald, Ambassador Joe Kennedy, Ambassador Sargent Shriver, Governor Arnold, and then Chris Pratt.

Big Bob

if you enjoyed this you clearly have to watch at least the first predator movie with arni ;)

I grew up with this film, and I also had recurring nightmares growing up about being hunted by a terminator. If you ended up with nightmares, I can relate. I think Arnold is kind of an underrated actor in some respects. He’s no Malon Brando by any means, but he’s much better than often given credit for. Playing a machine is not as easy as it sounds, you can’t just go through the movie with a blank face. He does a great job IMHO of portraying how the terminator analyses. Since you’ve posted you’re review of T2 I can add that I think Robert Patrick did it at a much higher level, but Arnold still did it very well. Patrick was just that outstanding. I also don’t think Michael Biehn gets enough credit, not just for this movie but in general. He’s kind of forgotten these days, but he’s fantastic in everything I’ve seen him in. The fact that you recognized Lance Henricksen for playing Bishop in ”Aliens” but not Biehn for playing Hicks in the same movie kind of proves my point. He’s also great in ”Tombstone” which you absolutely must react to if you haven’t seen it already. Val Kilmer’s portrayal of Doc Holliday in that film is cinema legend, 100 %. As for the rest of this film franchise, I think T3 is perfectly okay, and I could even recommend watching the fourth film. The last two however, definitely not. I would much rather see you react to the tv-series, ”the Sarah Connor Chronicles”. It’s only two seasons, unfortunately, so it wouldn’t take you too long to watch it.
