Ya'll were right about this being an incredible sequel. I loved seeing Arnie come back as the Terminator but the twist!!! Such a good concept what they did with this movie that was different to the first. Enjoy :)

Woo hoo! I've been waiting for this. So excited. Happy thanksgiving, and thanks for making my day better, Oscar!

Alicia Cue

first off, happy thanksgiving to my americans who celebrate 🥳🫶 also i forgot how good this movie is! i only saw the terminator movies a few times when i was real young so i couldn’t remember what happened in the first versus this one, gotta say this sequel really does step it up

Ryuichi

The third one will have many questions I mean all of the next ones too haha

Jenny MacRunnel

I've never seen the director's cut before! The original does not have that ending scene, it ends with Arnie's death. I think I prefer that ending, but I loved all the extra scenes. This movie is one of my favorites!

Tom

Not the skimmed milk 😱 🤣

Callum Ringsy

I hope you eventually react to Dark Fate. It acts as a direct sequel to this movie.

Michael

Terminator (1984) and T2 (1991) were directed by James Cameron. I don't think a third film was planned so Cameron probably added that last scene to close the story in the Director's Cut. Terminator 3 (2003) occurs if the last scene (the theatrical cut) never happens.

Rhetorical Thrill

I've always known about the T-800 (the Arnie version, he's a T-800 series but model 101 😊) being the protector in this movie, I'm pretty sure the tv ads came right out and showed it, so it's wonderful to see someone get it revealed as intended! And I never really noticed how well they kept it hidden until the first confrontation in the hallway. I don't know if you plan to go on, I personally never had any interest in the movies that come later, both because I never heard anything good from people I know who saw them, and because this movie wraps it up so perfectly I don't see a need. But if you do I'm sure you'll find some good as you always do 💜

emigirl123

I totally agree with you Terminator 2: Judgment Day really set the bar for sequels. Arnie’s character development is just incredible, especially the twist with him being the protector rather than the villain. It’s such a clever subversion of expectations. I also love how the movie explores themes like the morality of AI and the impact of technology on humanity. But if I had to point out one thing, I’d say the pacing can feel a little uneven at times, especially in the middle act, where it slows down a bit before picking up again. Still, it’s definitely a cinematic masterpiece with so much depth beneath the surface. What are your thoughts on how they handled the time travel elements?

Melissa Creel

I am so glad you got to be surprised by Arnie being the good guy snd loved your response to it. For some reason marketing for this movie thought it was a good idea to put that reveal in the trailer. Made everyone super mad. Still enjoyed the movie but we didn't like that being essentially taken away.

maemisfitz

Fun fact! Robert Patrick who plays the T-1000 (or just antagonist 😂) is the voice of Master Piandao, Sokka's sword master in ATLA!

Paul

I love this movie! However, I think I'm one of the few who enjoyed T3 even more.

Anna H

Two of the best back-to-back movies ever! Reminds me of the classic Aliens, how once again James Cameron delivered a masterclass on how to do a sequel right :)

Anna H

One of the reasons I had to encourage the director's cut was because of Sarah Connor's dream with Kyle. I don't believe that was part of the original, and it was just really nice to see her have that moment. I think it still does a service to the story, as a way to give Sarah one final push to escape and help John. Between this and Aliens, I always appreciate seeing Michael Biehn have his moments :)

ScarlettMi

While I like most of the Director's Cut, I do prefer the ending of the the theatrical version. That same final line, but with the open highway leading to an unknown and unset future that we don't see.

TheCocoaCouch

Yeah honestly as much as I like the idea that they changed the future and they all live till they’re old, that actually undermines the whole “the future is not set”. Leaving it open ended like you say the Theatrical did, encapsulates that quote well. The war isn’t set, but neither is avoiding it.

Tara

Hey Oscar, the phycologist who is treating Sarah is the same doctor who was questioning Kyle in the first movie when they were interrogating him at the police station. There were 3 main sequences in this movie that weren’t in the theatrical release. 1. Sarah’s dream of Kyle when she’s still in the mental hospital. Kyle isn’t in that version at all and when the orderlies were kicking her and forced the medication down her throat. 2. When they removed Arnold’s CPU and Sarah wants to smash it. That is entirely cut out. It goes from Sarah pulling the bullets out of his back asking if they will heal to pass as human to the next morning when they get the car and John is teaching him slang. 3. The end of the theatrical release is John hugging Sarah after Arnold is lowered into the steel and then Sarah narrating that for the first time in years, the future is unknown then end credits. We don’t see the scene of her in the park with her granddaughter. I believe that is why the other movie’s could be made. That version left the future open for a possible judgement day whereas this extended version states judgement day came and passed. I remember August 29, 1997 was a very big day and people all over had judgment day parties

I would love for you to react to the "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" -- a TV show spin-off. I also hope you react to T3 -- while not the most popular movies in the franchise, I absolutely loved it!

Sarah

From what I've heard, a big theory on the purpose of crying and how we evolved it is signalling to other people that we need their support and comfort, signalling that we are upset and suffering. I think there is also some getting rid of certain hormones and stuff, but if that was the sole purpose, the human body has much more efficient ways of doing that. And many aspects of crying don't help that at all, but are very noticable to others and easily recognisable. Which further supports the former theory.

Rich H

Although I liked T2 more, I do think T3 was very underrated

KJ

I've always loved this movie. There are so many iconic elements related to this. I've never seen this version before, that end scene isn't in the original. Be well!

jenNjuice84

The last time I watched this movie my nana passed a couple of hours later (screw cancer). I’m glad the next viewing of it was now with you. Your channel uploads are such a wonderful part of my week! Gives me something to look forward to no matter if it’s a tv show or a movie. 😊

Steven Jump

One thing to keep in mind when watching the rest of the movies. This is not how the movie ended in theaters. The scene of Sarah 30 yrs later was cut out. It was left with Sarah not knowing if they stopped Judgement Day. The next one is Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. Then Terminator Salvation, Terminator Genysis and finally Terminator Dark Fate. I liked 3, 4 was ok, 5 is the only one I only seen once and wish I hadn't!. The last one gets a lot of hate, but I think it's a worthy sequel that lives up to the first 2. It carries on the same themes as 1 and 2. James Cameron returns as producer. He had no involvement with 3,4 and 5. He didn't direct it because he was making Avatar 2 and 3 at the time. On a side note are you EVER going to finish reacting to the Monsterverse movies?! Next one is Godzilla vs Kong, tv series Monarch and Godzilla x Kong The New Empire. There is a season 2 of Monarch coming as well as another movie.

Brian Nix

I think it's likely that the sight, sound, and probably smell, of crying trigger hormone changes in others, making humans more empathetic towards others (particularly infants.)

Sarah

That could be the case. In regard to that it would be very interesting to know how young children respond. Whether they already respond caring, or it is something they develop with age or something they need to be taught. Of course differentiating the last two would be difficult. I haven't looked up the research on this yet (or if there is any), but if you know any good papers on this topic, I would be really interested :)

Brian Nix

They made more movies because of $$$, but you really don't have to watch them. The first two movies are enough.

Brian Nix

I actually liked the third movie, but it wasn't necessary after the second. And it ignores that alternate happy ending scene we just watched in T2, not that I had ever seen it before!

David Armento

As a child, the nightmare scene traumatized me for years.

I’m following through with a comment I just left on Youtube and here leaving info on the sleep issues you mention. So, according to Harvard neuroscientists, we all process potentially frightening images and scenarios all the time in our sleep, right alongside all the other products of our memories and our imaginations. Most of this processing occurs when we are the least likely to awaken, during our deepest sleep. These images never become problematic. But if they are being “examined” by our subconscious when we near wakefulness, and if another factor - most likely excessive daytime stress - is present, it can push those disturbing images close enough to our waking consciousness that we become aware of them - which is when they become nightmares. So, without getting personal or crossing into weirdo web stranger or whatever, all that suggests you might have stressors in your life that are at least a non-trivial part of why you’re having nightmares. I’m sorry that it’s happening to you. Nightmares are routinely trivialized - mostly by people who don’t have them. But they warrant attention and assistance. At this remove, about the best I can do is convey information, and I hope it helps, at least a little, or is maybe useful in some way. Good luck.

Tingeling

Seconded! I would recommend watching 3, maybe 4, and then going with the tv-series.

Tingeling

One other thing I like so much better in the theatrical cut is the scene where the T1000 tries to lure John in by pretending to be Sarah (where Linda Hamilton’s twin sister Leslie played one of the Sarah’s). In the Director’s Cut John looks down to see T1000 blending in with the floor, revealing which Sarah is the real one. In the original version they cut out that shot, and John knew by instinct which Sarah was the actual one because of how she was behaving. He just knew his mother that well, and I think that leaves a bigger impact.

Tingeling

It amuses me to no end thinking about the T1000 hanging out in the kitchen, chopping vegetables and making a stew while waiting for John to either come back home or call. Robert Patrick is perfection in this movie. He understood the assignment 100 %. As you pointed out, he trained himself not to breathe though his mouth while running. He also trained himself not to blink or flinch when firing a weapon. Linda Hamilton (Sarah) had a twin sister who appeared either twice or thrice in this film. She might be the alternate Sarah at the playground in the nightmare but I’m not 100 % sure. She did however appear in the scene where they remove the chip; since they couldn’t use a real mirror (it would reflect the camera equipment and crew) she stands in for one of the Sarah’s visible in the shot, and the sisters practiced mirroring each other’s movements perfectly. Last, but definitely not least, she plays one of the Sarahs at the end when the T1000 is trying to trick John. IIRC she plays the T1000 Sarah.

Timothy Panngam

Great film - but I have to disagree with whoever recommended the extended version. The theatrical release is superior. The extra footage slows everything down, messes up the pacing without adding anything that’s not already inferred.

Heather Geer

This makes me so excited that Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) will be in the new season of Stranger Things!

Michael

That might be the first time I actually watched this cut, or at least in a long time. The other is significantly better, I guess both can exist as their own thing. The theatre cut is non stop action, this one gives extra character development, so it really depends on the type of film you want.

GreenAlice in Wonderland

Wow I've never seen this ending before! I had prepared myself to be a little depressed at the end like I always am, but this ending actually helped! It showed hopefulness and it left me feeling uplifted and optimistic, and it brought me a sense of closure and positivity I didn’t expect!! Btw (and idk if we can put links on here but I'll try), I actually fell on this video yesterday! : https://youtube.com/shorts/d9n5v8hrmRA?si=UtWNpdaT93w-hmAI It shows how Robert Patrick (T-1000) trained to outrun (Edward Furlong) John's dirt bike. It's pretty crazy, awesome & intense!
