AJ Franklin

This was actually closer to how Matt acts in the comic books.

Everett Nation

This thread probably isn’t the place but, will you guys be watching the penguin series with us? Just aired tonight.

TheOctobers

dang we really should bc we are kinda in that Batman universe. We thought we had more to go before that.

Chase

Episode 8 the best episode of this show tbh😭Matt and she hulk were funny together and had good chemistry ngl

AJ Franklin

Both are pretty accurate to his personality in the comics. He’s a dark character with a dark lore but has lots of humorous moments and levity in the comics. The show didn’t really show it much (which isn’t a big deal) but Daredevil quips like Spider-Man, just not as much.

Jonny

When are you guys gna watcj Season 2? Its so good.

Chase

This is the second thing in that universe. Only episode 1 came out tonight and it airs 1 episode a week after today every Sunday. It’ll be 8 total!

TheOctobers

we want to be able to knock it out so once we free up some of these other mcu tv shows but we want to watch it so badly trust us!

Ony Ibe

Please watch Jessica Jones S1 before Daredevil S2 there is an overarching franchise called the “Defenders Saga”

Jim Schmitz

Love you both, but pass...

Dayvon148

Matt gets down with anybody we want him with Claire but he not settling down for nobody but that mask😂

Dayvon148

Finale was trash but I can’t wait for that World War Hulk story it’s about to get real messy 😭👏🏾

Episode 7 is actually one of my favorites. We get to see Jen in a different light as she discovers more and more about herself. Even if this show doesn’t get as much hype as others, I still feel like we can resonate with her in some form. For some, this was rumored. For others, this was leaked. On my behalf, I speculated the possibility of seeing Matt in this show. It made a lot of sense to me because he also happens to be both a lawyer and a superhero. I feel like episode 8 was the perfect time to include him. However, I must admit that I’m not a fan of the shit he wears in this show. I know they pulled it from the comics, but I still prefer the one he wears in his Marvel Netflix show. Shoutout to Pug. He’s the unsung hero of this show as far as I’m concerned. I wouldn’t have been comfortable around a toxic group like Intelligencia either. (I don’t think in the right mind he would also work for Vought.) Marvel Studios demands your silence. For me the NDA part was the one of the funniest moments of the show. Also one of the actual writers made a cameo when Jen paid them a visit. I’m talking about the show’s headwriter and showrunner Jessica Gao sitting in the far left corner of the table. We were all fooled the first time we saw this episode. We thought we were gonna get a cameo from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, but at least the camera had a cap over his lens. It’s a little nod to the real Kevin wearing caps all the time. *Also, at least she asked about X-Men. Her thumbs up towards us was her saying “I got you.” Overall, I personally enjoyed this series. However, I did feel like the plot was a bit dragged on when I watched it for the first time two years ago. There were some plot lines that I enjoyed more than others. For example, I preferred Jen joining Emil’s therapy circle more than Titania crashing the wedding party. If I were to make any changes to the show, I wouldn’t necessarily erase some of the plot lines. Rather, I would compile them into six episodes with each one lasting about an hour. And finally, my initial theory regarding Bruce’s return to Sakaar was that the Grandmaster would be seeking his champion again. I was worried that this was a one-way ticket back to the Contest of Champions. I know the Commodore was destroyed, but the ship we saw in the first episode was the same exact model.

ok, here we go.....I think you guys now see how phase 4 totally went off the rails and that was due solely to the former CEO of Disney forcing Kevin Feige to push out as much product as possible in the shortest amount of time. It shows in the lack of quality we had grown to expect. Now on to She-Hulk.....Stan Lee had long since left an active role in Marvel Comics by the mid seventies and moved to Hollywood to rub shoulders with the big shots to try to convince them to make some Marvel movies. What we got was the Spider Man tv show and the Hulk tv show along with some other pieces of crap along the way. Marvel was afraid of losing trademarks to competitors for female versions of their characters in the late seventies and came up with SpiderWoman and later She-Hulk to preserve the copyrights. Stan, himself, came back and wrote the cheesy origin of She-hulk and left it to other writers to continue.....at first, she was the "savage" She-hulk and that didn't go over big and the comic was cancelled soon after. A few years later, an excellent artist/writer named John Byrne rebooted the book into pretty much what you saw in this series. A wacky, breaking the 4th wall, lame supervillans, She-hulk calling out Byrne to the readers for the lame script and villians. It was amusing and this series actually captures that spirit pretty good. The book eventually got cancelled again, but was somewhat groundbreaking for the time and this show is groundbreaking for the MCU. Tony said he chuckled all along, yeah, I get you, man. I thought it was really funny if you take it for what it is. Now if you were expecting so serious MCU stuff, then yeah, I can see how you would be disappointed. I personally liked it, especially es. 7 with Man=bull, Porcupine and El Agulair. (some of Stan Lee's worst villans ever....}

Ron Hubbard Jr

They keep introducing minor mutant characters in the MCU. El Aguila is the second mutant introduced in this series after Mr. Immortal.

DarrellWaller

Side note here: Just watched Agatha all Along first 2 epidsodes and yeah, it's good. Just like WandaVision, you are confused and then start to see what is really going on. It's a slow burn at first but it's only beginning.

Ron Hubbard Jr

That is the Matt Murdock / Daredevil played by Charlie Cox from the Netflix show & Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Ron Hubbard Jr

Matt Murdock mentioning that the Sokovia Accords (from "Captain America: Civil War") being repealed establishes that nice bit of in-universe continuity.

Chase Schleich

You've somehow already forgotten how many women Matt hooked up with on Netflix? Foggy constantly brought up how Matt always finds 10's and sleeps with them, then moves on to another one. Pretty sure he can smell Chlamydia and herpes so he'll be fine lol

Ron Hubbard Jr

Daredevil doing the "walk of shame" is hilarious!

Chase Schleich

The show was not good, we just all wanted to see more Daredevil lol. Marvel was trying to tackle a genre they've never done, a legal comedy. They just couldn't pull it off. Instead of comedy, they did goofy. Daredevil coming to the MCU was a big deal, especially after his little cameo in Spider-Man, so they advertised his appearance in She-Hulk in order to drum up excitement for the show, but trying to fit Daredevil into a light hearted goofy show doesn't work because that's not his character. They actually filmed an entire season of the new Daredevil show and then scrapped it and started over from scratch after She-Hulk came out. The new Daredevil show is back to being rated R, dark, bloody Netflix style now (thank god). I have a feeling Marvel is going to retcon a lot of She-Hulk, if they even treat any of it as canon at all. She-Hulk was made during the dark days at Disney with their replacement idiot CEO and now that he's been fired, Marvel is trying to go back and fix all the stuff that got broken in the few years that CEO was in power. So we'll see what they keep from the She-Hulk show. I fully expect Hulk's son to not be a thing in future MCU projects and we may never even see She-Hulk herself again. I think Marvel wants to just erase this entire period from their history, which is something they can actually do since they're doing multi-verse stuff right now. All they have to say is She-Hulk took place on a different Earth and we can all just forget it ever existed lol.

Peter K

Please watch the Black & White version of Werewolf By Night, it was the first way they released it. I didn't even watch the color one they also put out, it was just right in B&W. I bet you will get a kick out of it.

Ryuichi

Im glad yall watched this so you get your own opinions. Yea she hulk for me was a cute watch but I’m not watching it again like I’ve done WandaVision or Loki.

Jason Pike

It wasn't great. But it's even worse missing out on context. We don't know what future stories might branch out from this or references that are made. And having things go over your head or end up being confusing because you missed context from something previous isn't good.

Deepan Nathan

You’ll be happy to know that after this they decided not to portray daredevil as he was portrayed in she hulk and go back to the style, themes and characters of the Netflix shows, which were excellent. So the next daredevil show in the MCU should still be good 🤞🏾

Amber B.

She-Hulk was the FIRST to break the 4th wall. She paved the way for Deadpool!!!

Dayvon148

Aw yeah and she hulk is one of their horny characters but Matt also get around as much as she hulk if not more, actually a lot of their characters are super horny even some of your favorites it’s just that Disney Channel owns the movie rights😂but yeah it’s funny Mr O when you said she might just be a hoe, I said that same thing when the episodes were still dropping every week at that same scene like okay so this what’s going on with her😭

Peter K

I'm probably one of the oldest patrons here, and I grew up before the media onslaught began. As a kid we had like 7 TV channels, 3 networks, PBS, and 3 local channels. Mainstream TV comedies were pretty lame at the time (Brady Bunch, Beverly Hillbillies, etc) so we found things like Monty Python on PBS or the 3 stooges on local channels. Point being, I grew up getting my laughs from absurdist humor, silliness as Tony put it. That is probably why I enjoyed She Hulk more than many did, because I took it for what it is, a farce, (a comic dramatic work using buffoonery and horseplay and typically including crude characterization and ludicrously improbable situations). Sound like She Hulk? The first phase of the MCU was mainly introduction movies, and after End Game, they released a few shows to address the aftermath of EG, but then came a new wave of introductions. Then there was the Jonathan Majors trouble, and that just made things worse because they had to dump one story line and find another, so the herky jerky later MCU releases were affected by multiple issues, the CEO problem also played into it. There are some gems a coming, so Tony, I think you will see how Marvel 'comes back,' She Hulk was a detour, not a new direction. Just my 2 cents on this subject.

TC24

lol a lot of people who voted no to watching this show is right there with you Tony, I’m pretty much done with Marvel at this point and just praying James Gunn can resurrect DC with his Superman movie next summer.

DarrellWaller

I think Tony hit the nail on the head by saying that Marvel takes the really cool characters and fuck them up. EXACTLY. They did this in the comics in the 90's and I finally stopped buying the comics because of it. However..................there is a light at the end of the tunnel and Werewolf by Night is in the batter's box and ready to go next. (it's good. Please do the original black and white version, though). Guardians 3 is coming soon, so hang on. More recently, Deadpool and Wolverine is just all kinds of awesomeness. Agatha All Along dropped yesterday and so far it looks like another banger. Too soon to tell, though. Phase 4 ends with Wakanda Forever, then we are in for another rough patch with phase 54 with Secret Invasion (the worst thing Marvel ever put out) and Ant Man Quantumania (a huge turd) and Echo (didn"t make it through the first episode, TBH) and The Marvel's (fell asleep a third of the way in), but there are many good things ahead. Is there a red hulk? Well, there is in the comics, soooooooooooooo (can't spoil anything).

DarrellWaller

I might be older than you, Peter, but you understand how great Marvel comics were in the 70's, don't you? Seeing these characters brought to life on the big screen made my inner child come out. I hate what they are doing (or did) in phase 4 and so far in phase 5, but they did the same thing in the comics in the 90's and 00's. They went all woke and pc and it killed the comics. I understand that Disney have fired all the staff that were pushing this agenda and have refocused on quality and there are some exciting new projects that were announced. BTW, are you watchin Agatha??? It's pretty good so far IMHO.

Adrian Rhodes

It's weird to call her a ho and she's only been with 2 guys lol

RegTravels

Now that yall watched it, I can say that I generally agree with yall's feeling on the show. I just wanted yall to watch bc it has fun moments. That's all hahaha I DO NOT need a season 2 of this haha

Adrian Rhodes

Also I can see how the end would be a bit confusing but it's perfect for the character. As has been stated, she was breaking the 4th wall in comics way before Deadpool. In a couple of issues, she literally leaves the comic and confronts her writers, so this was a play on that.

Tayshawn Williams

Wait y’all are already on season 2 ep 12 of the boys?🤔

Boerben

Daredevil aired 2015-2018 and She Hulk is from 2022. So after 4 years it was nice to get a little sneak peak into the good old Matt Murdock fighting scenes. You just watched that show. I hope for Daredevil Reborn they will keep the dark and more "street gangster like" vibe of him. Still glad you watched that show.

Peter K

Late 70's early 80s had some of their best work, the artists and writers were top notch. I have quite a stash of old comics from back then, and TBH, even though they did put out too much too fast, I'm still thrilled that it gave us stuff like Moon Knight. I never expected they would use some of the lesser known characters that were really the cutting edge back in the day. Haven't watched any Agatha yet, I usually wait until I can binge several at a time.

Peter K

Kevin Feige is the main producer of the MCU, and the robot version had a little feature that looked like the baseball cap the real Kevin usually wears. They were doing a parody with She Hulk, poking fun at themselves. It may seem to appeal to teen girls, but if you know what the actual premise is, it is easy to enjoy. I never had any expectation of some big important plot line, I was certain it would be farcical all the way, and it was.

RegTravels

Also, thank you for shouting me out on this! I’m glad y’all watched; I needed someone to talk about this in

Phil Tilly

You said bad things about she hulk, and the MCU making it a joke but, she was introduced in February 1979 into the comics, and the show is very accurate to the comics. It's one of the most accurate to the character of all the shows/movies. Also, in the comics, matt murdock is a man whore, and had sex with a TON of characters and heroes, and is very in tune with what the comic version is. I know its not for everyone, but don't hate the writer of the show. It is extremely accurate to comic versions of the characters. also, if you think this made everything you have seen pointless, don't watch secret invasion. But she hulk always broke the fourth wall.

Gio Bellisario

I absolutely hated what they did with Jen the whole relationship and her being video taped made me so angry and I felt violated myself, I didn’t like how she didn’t or really couldn’t take control of her life and story. they kind of cheated with her just rewriting the ending although I did love all the fourth wall break and her going to the studio

Josh Viz

Theres only greatness ahead on this UP NEXT lineup 💯

Amber B.

Yes, they rewrote and reshot almost everything they already had for Daredevil Born Again. The MCU will be keeping and continuing with the darker, grittier tone from Netflix.

Martin

I think maybe other people mentioned this already, but relatively shortly after this showed aired, a mayor restructure happened at Disney. Both Disney’s CEO at the time and Marvel’s second highest Producer where replaced. Giving the real control over Mavel back to Kevin Faige who was the real brain behind the first 3 phases.

Lifehouse

This was one of the projects that got a lot of backlash. (i'll let you figure out which other projects were the other parts). When this was released they were kinda swapping 'quality' for 'quantity'. Do not worry though. The MCU bounces back. They actually went back to the drawing board and canceled A LOT OF PROJECTS.. and at a certain point they acquired Fox (and with that the rights to stuff like The X-men and Deadpool etc. And people were glad they did the previously mentioned things. They came back.. and announced a timeline of releases with naming a few new projects. The hardcore MCU fans were pleased. So you can rest assured. It gets better.

Tayshawn Williams

Yall had to suffer like the rest of us😭i actually like Jen’s character but the way they wrote this story was dogshit😂😂😂

Josh Viz

Lmaoooo I didn't want to watch this series but I did want to hear yalls opinion on it 😂 so good

Preferred User

to be fair... all comics are political statements... the X-men was literally to call out racism.

Preferred User

also... breaking the 4th wall was a She-Hulk power before Deadpool.

Ron Hubbard Jr

I think this series broke the stupid and goofy direction that Marvel has been headed post-Endgame. Phases 4 & 5 has had nothing that tied things together like we had in the Infinity Saga. It's not been all bad, but stuff like Thor: Love & Thunder, She-Hulk, and the GOTG Holiday Special take the stupidity to an extreme level. Wanda-Vision did the fourth wall stuff with the characters talking to an off-camera person like you see in reality shows sometimes. It actually worked with that show because they didn't overdo it. Thor: Ragnarok had comedy, but it was just the right amount that it didn't get stupid. I think after She-Hulk bombed with fans and we got underwhelming stories with Moon Knight, Secret Invasion, the Eternals, and Ant-Man: Quantumania, Marvel took a breather to reassess. They have slimmed down their movie and TV schedule. They scrapped what they did with Daredevil Born Again and have redone it in the darker, grittier style that we had in the Netflix series. On top of that, they now acknowledge that the Netflix MCU shows are part of the official canon which gives us quite a few established characters to build on. The Agatha All Along series and the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World movie are the first that we'll see of this new direction. Also, with Kang being out as the next big bad to replace Thanos and Doctor Doom taking his place with Robert Downey Jr's return, I think we have a clear idea where things are headed and how it will tie together like we had with the Infinity Saga.

ChiefWill15

In the comics she hulk literally rips out of the page and goes and talks shit to the comic writer room so like others have said, this is one of the most comic accurate character portrayals. Like the comics themselves, might not be for everyone, but as a “she hulk” show they did pretty good. There are def other issues within the show tho.

Jake Follain

GOTG Holiday Special is awesome. Period. If you don't like goofy then don't watch any of the GOTG stuff. Deadpool & Wolverine I notice didn't get a mention here, but that of course is also goofy. Goofy can be done well and it can be done poorly.

KiwiJello

Tony is so happy this is done. LOL It's just a side story for fun, mostly. I hope. :)
