I think you missed the deathwatch smash captain. You give him a xenophase blade and master craft it, and then you give him the space wolves warlord trait and imperium's sword. He's a jump captain, with +2 attacks on the charge with another +1 attacks and +1 to hit and wound with the space wolves WLT (tbh you can give him any warlord trait, with the best being refusal to die, the wolves one, speed of the primarch, or oathkeeper. He puts out a decent amount of attacks a turn, smashing vehicles and monsters (the things that have high toughness in the first place) with +1 to hit and wound, and ignoring invulns with a d2 weapon. The most important thing here is that he is ap-5 and ignores invulns in the assault doctrine, which helps a lot against most targets that you want to fight, unless their sang guard, which are the exception on most things you want to hit.

For space wolves my preferred smash captain is a wolf lord on thunderwolf with a plasma Pistol, and the burning blade relic, with imperiums sword and saga of the bear for warlord traits. Makes a very nasty threat

And for us successor chapters, Whirlwind of Rage and/or Hungry for battle. My build is a bike captain with the Teeth of Terra, with the Whirlwind of Rage, and Imperium sword warlord trait for an absolute ton of attacks. And using a strategem to give him a second warlord trait, add Paragon of War so wound roll 6's cause a mortal wound in addition. He's an absolute beast.
