Just wanted to comment on the Streaming Box thing. Totally agree from a gaming standpoint, but I think people buy Android TV boxes (or alternatives) mainly because the chipset included in their TV is too slow out of the box or has reached an age where it can no longer keep up. A streaming box can breathe new life into an otherwise perfectly functioning 4K TV. Should this be an issue on higher end televisions? No. But the amount of people out there that buy TCL, Hisense, Vizio TVs (some of which actually have pretty good picture for the price) is pretty high. These TVs usually come with slower CPUs.

Following the steaming box comment also. I have two Nvidia Shields because they are the only steaming devices that I can find that will pass through Dolby TrueHD from my Blu-ray Plex rips for Dolby Atmos. Most steaming sticks will only pass through Dolby Atmos via Dolby Digital Plus that steaming services send. There is currently no way to rip TrueHD and encode it to a lower bitrate and keep the Atmos Metadata because it's proprietary Dolby Technology. So my use case honestly is really small, but Nvidia also provides one of the only options in the market besides running a mini desktop box. I want the simplicity of not running a full desktop for sure, and HDMI CEC is a mess on desktop. Also noted an updated Shield wouldn't serve me any better than my existing Shields for this purpose. Noted I also question how long Nvidia will provide security updates, it's from 2017. I do use my shield pro to stream via steam link sometimes but that is rare, noted it's great at that also with a Dual Sense controller because of Steam input. You know if valve makes a Steam Set top box and I can get a Steam remote 👀
