The last Swan Princess movie.... for now.

Curtis Rogahn

I just want to remind everyone Li gave up his TRUE LOVE in the last movie. Now I don't know what Swan Princess's rule with that is, but most fairy tales make it a once in a life time thing. It would have been really nice if this movie or the last one actually made the appropiate sized deal out of that. Li will never love anyone as much as Alise. So regardless to say, I'm glad that she and Lucas are MIA in this movie. Wish I could make a deal with Joe to keep them MIA but that STUPID FAT SQUIRREL ruined everything. Also, I really hate to sound...something. But anyone else think Fang seems a bit white? I mean I look at her and she seems out of place in the setting. Maybe it's the glasses. Or her hair. Just something.

Raven Fox

And they immediately cheapened his great sacrifice with Ms. Pixie Cut Consolation Prize. Also, Li had no idea he was making the sacrifice so it was already pretty cheap.

Curtis Rogahn

How a movie I thoroughly enjoy created a franchise at this point I'll never know.

Grace Starkes

I have to admit, Uberta’s song is genuinely amazing! It’s almost like Richard Rich remembered the same magic when he made Fox and the Hound. Too bad the rest of the movie isn’t like that. Lol

Raven Fox

It makes me cry...right up until Rogers says the line about the "lip thing." UGH

Verdant Range

The Chinese word for douchebag is Ègùn/惡棍. Also, I think they didn't tell the emperor and get him to put out the fire without more proof because of some "honor" BS.

Matt R

I must admit, I wasn't expecting Uberta's song to be that good. However, what I don't get is who the hell ordered a Jean Bob animated series. WHO IS THIS MADE FOR!?

Ben Molulon

What did that Gator Escape game have to do with gators?

BB Shockwave

Wow, these just keep on coming! SOOO many! They must be trying to outdo the Land Before Time and Alpha and Omega franchises...

Sage Mann

Woohoo! My answer got into the Question of the Review segment for the first time, I'm so happy, been trying to achieve that on-and-off since last summer. :D And I'm so proud of Kenzie for being saved for last for being crazy out-there, that's awesome.

Meagan

Fang's also got blue eyes, furthering the impression

Curtis Rogahn

Yeah I don't normally call this kind of thing, but with the huge pandering to the Chinese market in this movie and the last one, the fact that the villain appears quite white (seriously, look at her next to Odette and Derek in Chinese clothes, this is WAY TO CLOSE) does raise a few questions that need answering.

Master Farr

ok I'm sorry, I honestly don't get why we're pandering to these people though since they caused this lousy pandemic

Bobsheaux

1. I've already addressed the whole pandering to the Chinese thing. No need for you to go off in another direction with that. 2. If you meant to say "the Bubonic plague" and somehow "covid" came out, that's fine. It's a mistake, and you've owned up to it. Making the correction to it is not pandering. 3. With the recent surge in anti-Asian-American sentiment, now's REALLY not the time to be saying things like that. Do we understand each other?

A.T. M

The plot line that the girl gets turned into a old lady rips off descendants 3. My gosh the writer were so out of ideas that they ripped off DESCENDANTS! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

I hate this movie so much... mostly because of Fang. Not of her concept (though I do fear she might be a borderline stereotypes to some degree), but the abosulte fact that they DIDN'T used them properly! Think about: Fang is depicted as this serious stoic wizard to the Emperor, but when nobody else is a around, she is this giddy person who has NOONE to talk too but herself. She is loyal to her lord, takes her role seriously, but is still an odd-person when by themselves... And her entire GOAL in this movie was to marry Chen, NOT to gain more power and control; just to marry a simple man... and she is using all of her LITERAL power to have him. A unique and an impressive take of "true love" that this franchise "claims" to promote throughout the years, showing how dark "love' can be. They COULD have played Fang out more desperate/tragic, where she miss uses her powers for the empire for her own gains, digging herself into a deeper hole that she grows more and more about... like have FEEL conflicted at the idea of having Chen for himself... only to dread at the idea all he will see is Mei Li and NOT herself... But NO. We got a rush story where she is just a loud clueless Asian who is simply evil with no depth. SERIOUSLY! They had the money to model AND animate that whole pinball sequence and such, but NOT for scenes to make some establishment/throwaway lines to help with plot and character. Here's mine: At a young age, Fang was friends with Chen, being childhood friends. But Fang's tea-leaf-soothssaying got her the eye of Empire, who made her into his royal wizard/adviser. This however meant she was to trained and be isolated from everyone else. Once she is become a full on wizard, she was sincerely loyal to her Emperor... but then she sees Chen, her old friend/crush as a kid grown up... and sees he has fallen in love Mei Li... tempted by her own desires, she begins her dark path of betrayal and inner madness... just to be with the man she loved so long ago... Was THAT too much to put in? Did we need that pinball gag, Li sturggling with the water to put out the magic fire, or that big "other room" trick over something like this? Speaking of... I do wonder how magic works in this world... The first 3 movies had the Forbidden Arts be a crystal orb that bestows powers to whoever wields it, then made it out to be a ethereal being of darkness... then ghosts became a legit thing with their own rules and such... so whats with the fire that empowers Fang? Does it come with it's own rules? Is it on par with the Forbidden Arts itself, or a lesser take of it (hence the ability to KILL anyone on Fang's whim)...

Suzanne Pollard

Well at the very least the villain sorceress has a defined personality, which is more than you can say for more than half of the other human characters

Suzanne Pollard

Has Bobsheaux reviewed Coraline? I don't remember.

SilverZeo

You know... it just dawned on me... THIS is the MOST "magic" heavy CGI Swan Princess movie we had in a while... First we had the "magic of ghosts and Christmas"... which was just sparkles and such... Then we got the Forbidden Arts... which was just a smoke monster with lighting bolts... Then we got the Bogs, MORE ghosts, and then we focus on more "real stuff" like spy and mechanical material than anything magical... The last movie had SOME magic, but not much outside of Chen's transformation-scenes... But here... we actually have a full set of magic from the main villain for the ENTIRE movie, something we haven't seen since the first 3 SP-Movies... and it's just DULL. The original Swan Princess had some artistic style/flare to it, and even the 2D sequels had something to go with.. but here. It's just rather simple and unimpressive. Seriously compare to all the magic shown in the past movies and compared them to ones here. I am sure the older stuff had more effort to them...

I’m pretty sure that Richard rich has gone insane at this point

EternalHikairiNoTension

You know as Richie Rich's Swan Princess franchise grows more stupid and tries to make itself like Shrek only worse with it's trends and technology that NEVER exist at all in their damn timeline, but it is no longer a Swan Princess Movie...we never get to see Odette change into a swan since the Christmas movie. I think it would be kind of nice if Odette had the ability to change into a swan and back to a human or have Alise turned into a swan to be the next swan princess. Odette and Derek should be king and queen. Wouldn't that be kind of nice and fitting to the SWAN Princess franchise.

Amanda Mathews

Their not king and queen yet? I know you can only say so much in a review and it was good too. But me and my sister, big fans of you were like what and why at the changing of chin infront of mai. I was a bit shock? Something like that at this. Wouldn't it make more since to do that in his sleep? Or just not in front of her! I hated the face he made too. But see if they change him away from Mai then the dad could have told her chin left because he knew they shouldn't be or something like that. Plus doing that in front of her he should know she try to cure it. Didn't he care ot notice she was gone for a week? However long it was. Also my other problem is there's not enough anger or hate. I be pissed if my dad turn my BF into a dragon and say we can't marry and all that.(well if I was her, I loved my dad dearly and he passed away back in September. R.I.P And I could never really be mad at him) But yeah they all way to happy and forgivening here. Is it Chin or Chen? Also think the son should be mift at daddy for doing that to his sister too. Hm, makes you wander who the real villian is? The pinball thing was indeed insane! Make it a meme. Like I think it should replace big lip alligator moment, do something like that people. I just called them pointless part of said movie or show. Still like do. Notice there was no gators in the game? So why that name? Great now I'm thinking of a game over screen of johnbob in a gator mouth looking scared and getting eating. Somebody make that game! Anyway great review! Look forward to the next. Can you do some cross overs reviews? Maybe with anime guys? Like anime abandon? I just really like the idea of you getting sage to dress up in a costume but still has the hat. Still he's going through a lot right now. I'm sure you are too so no cross overs is still fine. I do love Raven fox!

Amanda Mathews

Feel free to use anything I just wrote. Not mad but I don't see me in the new patreons. My youtube name/account and goggle account is Nintendo Sony Pro if that helps. Using Facebook to long in is just easier for here

Bobsheaux

I thank every new pledge by citing them in the credits as soon as they join. (Your name can be found in the credits of my 9th anniversary special.) Repeated appearances in the credits go to anyone who pledges at the Producer level ($5+) or the Executive Producer level ($25+).

No, but I DID review this Coraline RIPOFF. lol https://www.patreon.com/posts/3629446

For all the complaints that Alise and Lucas were taking over the franchise from Oderek, it's actually kind of weird that I genuinely missed having them in this one. Even if their wedding wasn't what the movie was about, the plot they went with was basically BEGGING for them to interact with Chen and Mei Li. Though if the movie did anything right, getting caught in YouTube's copyright gulag finally convinced me to become a Bobsheaux Patreon supporter!

SilverZeo

Too bad they seem to play her off SO badly in this. With Rothbart, he chewed up the scenery because he was trying to take over an entire kingdom with a powers on par with a god while doing it..... Fang here is the same... except her goal is to marry some normal dude... they gave her a completely unique motivation for a antagonist to have in this franchise, and they could have played it out with more sympathy or sense of tragedy, but they still play her out like a cartoony super villain who wants to take over the world.

SuperFan MusicMaker

Just wondering, is there going to be a Question Of The Review for this one even though it was blocked on YouTube?

Raven Fox

Yes there will be a QOTR posted as soon as it's unblocked on YouTube.

SilverZeo

Maybe thats why they didn't use him as much in this movie... they would have used him to explain 'how' Mei Li's tear broke Fang's spell when in the last movie, it needed some kind of sacrifice after his "cure" potion failed...

Amanda Mathews

Oh thanks I saw it, I'm first and I gave the vid a like but you got my name wrong! It's only has one T, Mathews. You wrote it with 2 Ts :(

Jennifer Gilbert

the 1st movie also didn't include all of the other swan maidens, which would have given odette other female characters to talk to, and could have use the rest of the franchise to explore the different ways of dealing/healing from the trauma of your own autonomy taken away.
