I'm finally finished!!

Presenting the illustration set (at full res for Patrons of course) I just finished for the Coloso class! It was quite an experience drawing, teaching and documenting the entire process for the roughly 47 hour(!) class. In a way it forced me to be extra careful and meticulous as I needed to craft a flow that is intuitive and easy to follow, which was quite a learning process in itself. I'm very tired but relieved at this point :)

We will also be having the usual simple process breakdown videos soon here on Patreon (separate and distinct from the class content) as well, so rest assured you are not shortchanged for this month's regular content!

Of course, if you're interested in the full 47 hour class I drew this set for, covering the entire process from planning to polish in meticulous detail with worksheets, lecture slides and all, please feel free to check it out here: https://coloso.global/en/products/45953

Thank you all so much for your support here as always! I'm looking forward to draw some ideas I've had for a while now, now that I'm free :) Please look forward to that!

Shion Irene

Love these so much! The camera angles are fantastic 🩷🩷 looking forward to the class launch too :)

The fact that every piece you post shows a noticeable increase in skill even at your level is impressive and terrifying at the same time

Zwei Zhang

She is so cool! I love the arm of the second picture ,the light looks so real.

I fall in love with every piece you do. As someone who desperately wants to improve as an artist, I'm considering enrolling in your class on Coloso. But I must admit...I'm a bit intimidated -_- I struggle so much with realism in my art but every time I see your work I'm overcome with inspiration :) Looking forward to the upcoming process videos and possibly checking out your class :)

RANNEOJEG

I don't know if it's my imagination, but it feels like I'm seeing it for the first time! Is this your new character? She looks cool.😍

guweiz

Thank you very much! The angles were quite a challenge too, I'm more relieved than anything that they turned out OK

guweiz

Thank you for the kind words, it's really difficult to quantify this I think - sometimes I do well in a certain aspect, but have a tougher time with others. Just the nature of drawing different pieces I suppose!

guweiz

Thank you! The arm was really hard to draw - I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to design a nice tattoo sadly, but I'm glad you like it!

guweiz

Believe it or not I am also equally as often intimidated and impressed by artworks of many others! I think what matters is that we try our best and don't give up :)

Makes sense to me! Maybe the more familiar i become with your work the more i appreciate newer aspects of it as well

Really worth the wait!

This looks amazing! Quick question: Do you still work on the whole piece on a single layer and just paint over things or do you separate your backgrounds from your characters?

guweiz

Thank you! It depends from piece to piece, for these more detailed and complex ones, I do use separate layers, mostly grouped into character, and their relative foreground and background. Within those groups I use layers mostly for elements I want to "save" for repeated use, and as checkpoints.

Ginryosan

Hi Guweiz, may I know what is the file size and dpi when you are working on these images? And do you use lower size/resolution in the initial phase or use the same size/resolution/settings throughout the process?

Vincent

Wow the detail of the sets just gets better after each post love to see it from my favourite artist! I really love the one she’s sitting outside the convenience store the camera angle is so dynamic, nicely done Guweiz 😊

guweiz

Thank you! It was a hard angle to really draw accurately, so I'm just relieved it turned out reasonably well!

guweiz

Sorry for the late reply! I usually work on 4000 pixels on the short side at least and then step it up towards the end if the details call for it.
