It's almost like a zigzag. To me, the panels go like this: Top, down left, top right, bottom right, down left, top right, bottom right.

I have seen indie comics struggle with this, and published comics messing it up badly too... Combining image composition and speech bubble placement to make it clear in what order to read is a special art skill in itself. This page is almost perfectly laid out, but I did read the first two speech bubbles in the third panel in the wrong order at first. But this is difficult shit, in any comics I have read that mess this up I can never say I could have laid it out better.
