So the last line is 100% a translation/cultural thing the better way to see it is if in english kageyama said something like "Nishinoya f**king move" to an upper classmen because there's a level of respect that kageyama has always shown to the upper classmen. Its essentially the way the talked to Nishinoya in that moment is the way he would talk to Hinata

I kind of get where the translator was coming from with “goody two shoes”, but Kageyama’s confusion/hang up on it never really clicked for me until I looked up the japanese word. He was called お利口さん (Orikou-san) and it’s more literal translation is “good boy/well-behaved/obedient child” (which like yeah, goody two shoes applies to, but I think it has different connotations than the literal translation).

I’m super curious as to when young volleyball players start learning/understanding about the nuances volleyball play. About the pressure, adjustment, all the technical things ya’ll were talking about in this episode, are most VB athletes hearing this starting in middle school, high school, college? Also, you’ll probably get the answer to your question about the Noya/Kageyama interaction immediately in the next episode but I do believe part of it is a translation not being able to pick up the cultural context of Kageyama’s dialogue and how it could be seen as disrespectful due to the hierarchical nature of a lot of Japanese relationships.
