so you know how some artists do a look back at all the art they did this year, how they improved, etc? i did a look through all the drawings i did this year, and it hit me......my god. this is the year i went full furry, isn't it? it's like a switch flipped and all my horse characters are suddenly standing upright on two legs and holding stuff with humany hands and posing in crop tops. i wondered......do i even still remember how to draw a regular lil pony?

(yes. it's like riding a bike. or selling your soul to the devil. you never really forget.)

anyway this was meant to be a style experiment to figure out how to draw simpler little ponies (y'know, stop getting bogged down with unnecessary self-indulgent detail like fluff, hair, muscles, markings, etc). naturally i failed, so i guess this is just gonna be a ref sheet/headcanon dump on sunset shimmer and sunburst. i'll stop drawing excessive horse fluff when i'm dead i guess

i finished up the lineart and base colors on this and am like 90% done, all that's left is the color stripes in the manes and huurgh i cannot tonight. my adhd brain is at that point where it feels like a can of cola shook up by a gorilla. i'll finish this tomorrow, mane stripes and all. have a happy new year's eve, everybody!

(in my headcanon, toying around with dark magic is never so easily undone with a friendship song. shit has lasting effects, yo. sunset's demon transformation in the first EQG movie has left her sort of permanently cursed. the dark forces of her rage and greed did not mix well with her distant kirin ancestry. so now when sunset gets angry, the results are.....well, explosive.
