Hey Patrons, I have an idea for the channel but I don't know if it's a good one nor do I have any idea how to go about it, so I figured I would talk to everyone here first.

One of the trickiest parts of making a new video every week is choosing the topic. It's very difficult to know what people may want to see. I look at ideas everyone sends to me, submissions through my website, even ask people here about it but a lot of the time I still question the choice.

Here's what I'm envisioning: A website where people could add suggestions to a list that everyone could see. Then everyone could go through the list and rate/vote on them. It should result in the most popular ideas rising to the top of the list and least popular ones falling to the bottom. Then if I'm looking for a good topic I could simply look toward the top of the list, or if I'm unsure of a topic I'm considering I could check and see where it ranks. I hope I'm describing this well enough so you get the idea.

The issue is I have no idea how to go about setting this up. I currently use Squarespace for my website and it doesn't seem like something I could set up through their tools. Maybe it could be integrated into it somehow or maybe I would need to set up a new site, I really don't know.  I'm also not sure if this is something that's easy to do or really complicated.

So right now I'm asking if anyone here knows how to do something like this or can refer me to someone I can trust to do it? This is just an idea I had recently, like I said not sure if it's a good one or not but I do think it has potential. Anything you could tell about any of this would be tremendously helpful.

Also, I found this tool that allows you to create &amp; embed polls: <a href="https://www.easypolls.net/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.easypolls.net/</a>

A poll isn't exactly what I'm looking for here. I could already conduct polls just about everywhere. Here, on Twitter, straight from YouTube. I utilize those for some things but I just don't see them as being a great option when deciding on video topics.

The other option is to set up a submission form using Google Forms. I wouldn't say it's unprofessional as I've seen it used by public radio stations, professional sports teams and various other podcasts.

I have no problem with that but I already have a place to submit ideas on my website. Would these there be any advantage to using these Google Forms.

I think if you're not using some sort of registered account system it can be more easily gamed. I'd recommend a subreddit where recommended topics get voted up, and reddit is free and has less stigma than the more toxic perceptions of Twitter or Facebook.

Zeromaster

Make a poll on Twitter and embed it in your site

I believe hes wanting a list that people can add to and the more votes something gets it goes to the top of the list then. He can do the video and take it down off the top of the list! But it's a list that is always changing. At least from my understanding. I think this is because we are only exposed to so many companies from where ever we are!

Linh Pham

I guess it depends on how the suggestions are collected and how easy it is to filter through them.

It sounds like you're wanting a "Think Tank" app that continues to cook ideas (?)

Maybe you could look at large companies that have never been heard of?

Would reddit be useful for what you're talking about? I dont know too much about web design or making a website in general.

Theres a podcast I listen to that has a decent following and they request questions and votes on reddit all the time. Hope it might be a helpful idea, maybe.

<a href="https://www.patreon.com/posts/25186235">https://www.patreon.com/posts/25186235</a> I wrote a comment that’s perfect for this :) it’s about Disney and it’s erratic price changes and it’s shift in demographics! Mostly focusing on the profit margins and how huge cost of operation really affects price

Great idea! What you're looking for is a user idea voting tool. There are a few big tools out there, the best one is UserVoice. It's been around a long time, I've used it a few times for projects a while ago. <a href="https://www.uservoice.com/product/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.uservoice.com/product/</a> - People can add 'ideas' to the board, and then other users can give a 'vote' to their favs and they move to the top of the list. It looks like this: <a href="https://feedback.uservoice.com/forums/1-general-feedback" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://feedback.uservoice.com/forums/1-general-feedback</a> It's been a while since I used it, so I'm not sure the pricing these days. But they have a free trial, maybe check it out?

The other one people talk about is <a href="https://www.useresponse.com/customer-feedback-software" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.useresponse.com/customer-feedback-software</a> - it's 15/month. I haven't personally tried it, but it has the same idea of people post feedback (ideas for episodes) and then vote on their favs.

Another option is using this free open source php script that is similar to uservoice called <a href="http://www.phpback.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.phpback.org</a> which is what you're looking for, user ideas, voting system, etc. It is a PHP script. If you have web hosting I can help install and set it up for you (I do websites and technical implementations for a living). Let me know, I can email you. No charge. Love your channel!

Well you’ve given me a lot to look into Chad. I have no idea what any of this is right now but sounds like you know what you’re talking about. Appreciate the help, when i get around to investigating all of it I’ll contact you with questions.

The easiest and cheapest way to do this would be to have a company man subreddit on reddit. It's free and you can just have people submit their ideas and have people vote on them. If you wanted to, you could make it private and only allow patreons to vote or submit topics.

companyman

Some have suggested that but I’m not really looking for the easiest and cheapest way.
