How Does everyone here feel about Disney and Fox coming together? I'm thinking this might be a good time to make Disney - Bigger Than You Know, so I'd like to get a few opinions on the whole thing.

I'm leaning towards cautious. Disney might become a monopoly as far as entertainment. I do not know about legal issues involving monopolies, but, I imagine there are concerns there.

Yes, definitely - you could easily have a series of videos just about this topic. The events of the merger negotiation process (e.g. Comcast's repeated bid attempts) would make for a great video. The implications for animation and theme parks would be great topics to touch on, too.

I'd be lying if I said that I'm not worrying about it. For any one company to amass so much power so quickly will radically distort the market. I mean, I think it's safe to assume that Hulu's days are numbered. I'm sure Disney will absorb it into Disney+. And that's just a start.

I had no idea that was happening. Would love to see that coverage.

I think it shows how undervalued extant content creators are. Disney needs an insane library to draw subscriptions for Disney+ over Hulu and Netflix. It says something that they already have such a vast selection to choose from but feel the need to obtain even more licenses.

I’m very worried. Generally fox hasn’t been down to make high quality stuff and Disney has been going down in quality lately, especially the blow that Wreak it Ralph 2 did to them. I loved the Disney princess scene as much as the next guy but I’m sure all of us were generally disappointed. I think they’re doing this to make it cheaper to produce their merchandise or cheaper to do something or if Fox is selling to Disney due to financial problems who knows, the reason behind it can be anything but I am certainly not looking forward to it.

Howdy! I know I'd enjoy seeing one on this.

Not a big fan of Disney, only because of their imagine as of late. Then bringing Fox under their wing... sounds like trouble in the making of a back yard still. The two just don't go together and it's going to be a bumpy ride. You'll definitely stir some comments once it's posted to the public audience.

What makes you say the two don't go together Erick? To me they seem like a perfect match.

I really don't want to pull politics into this as I know that's not your target audience nor your objective with these videos. However, FoxNews (FN) is being transformed into a new entity. Many of their commentators are being targeted and removed. I've noticed formats are being subdued and thinned out to curb content. FN will soon (and I mean soon) be merged into a rubber stamped model as are the other media outlets. I can see FN becoming a major financial weight on Disney. I could go on and on, but we live in the days when you really don't take risks in a financial game. Those days are gone. Countries around us are folding and collapsing because of this very thing.

Erick McGraw Did you know Fox News was spun out into an independent company as a part of the Disney Fox Merger? https://www.adweek.com/tv-video/until-the-disney-fox-deal-closes-networks-find-themselves-in-limbo/

I guess I'm the only one that was FOR the merger. It brings Marvel fully into the fold and opens up new opportunities for the parks. I can remember a time in the early 80's where it looked like Disney was going to be sold off for parts, so it's kind of exciting to see them come back so far the other way (full disclosure: I'm a stockholder... not a lot, but I get dividend checks!) My worry comes in a few areas: as mentioned before, too big can mean too arrogant and too powerful. (Pride goeth before the fall and all that). Second, I worry about some of the edgier properties of FOX: Deadpool, FXX, Simpsons (I know The Simpsons aren't owned by FOX, but trickle down effects...). Long story short (too late!) I think a bigger than you know would be great about Disney.

Mmmmm the amoebic absorption of companies by each other.
