The way that ships pop up in this match is insane, but I'm living for every second of it *lol* Seems like Oliver is as much of a magnate for boyfriends as Isagi XD If there is one thing that I really liked this episode, and there were several, was how confident and calm Ego was in his team. And I loved his explanation; especially because, yes, stress really is the defining element that can stop you from performing your best... if only these boys hadn't been performing under INSANE, LIFE-ALTERING stress for the last couple of months, at the very least, and the incredibly high stakes that ending their soccer career are. Ego has really done everything in his power to prepare them for this match, and he has seen how well they do when they're up against a wall, so he has a right to be as calm and confident in them as he is. Nagi being the first one to score a goal is actually perfect. And he was so cute about it. That panel of him, with his fist up (with the gloves that Reo gave him!) and sitting on the floor giving the screen his back is such a cool one, might be one of my favorite moments. Sae seems to think very similarly to Ego, doesn't he? What with his belief that all that matters in soccer is the scoring of goals, doesn't matter what position you play, you have to be ready to score perfectly. And now I'm just picturing Sae and Ego shaking hands and making some awful plans to revolutionize Japanese soccer *lmao*. One thing that made me laugh a lot was seeing that one dude who was watching the match at work and outed himself when Nagi scored. Right now, the game definitely feels like they are just testing the waters and seeing what works. I can't wait to see the intensity of the match ratchet up with each passing second and them getting used to their moves and the way they pair up. I totally agree that the U-20 seem a little too rigid, and the flexibility and adaptability that the BLLK team has will be their undoing. Gosh, that Additional Time with Reo was so sad >_< Just seeing how turn off he was about simply talking to Nagi again pull at my heartstrings. I do not think anyone can deny the ship at this point, the allegations are too strong.

Damn Nagi score the hardest goal just for you saying it's a setup episode lmao. Also I think this episode has the best animation in this season, way better than previous episodes, I was genuinely surprised to see it is actually decent

Hahaha, I mean, it WAS impressive! I meant the plot as a whole felt like a start/set up for the match - saying "hello" is just the introduction, after all! ;) But definitely a pivotal moment for our sloth man! :P Thank you for the comment! The animation was good, I agree!

I felt like I was sailing in a harbor with all the ships pulling into the bay! XD Isagi and Oliver as boyfriend magnets for the win! I really appreciated how calm Ego was as well; he did a great job with his coach’s pep talk! The stakes are high, but at this point, what can we do!? Just go out and do your thing and make yourself known! You’re right, there’s not much else Ego can do to prepare them, now. I love Nagi is the first to score! It definitely ties to that movie, doesn’t it? I love that he wore the gloves Reo gave him! It’s so perfect! They are SUCH a couple in this show! The man outing himself at work, watching the game is all of us as the audience! Also, that additional time!? Tug my heart strings!! That’s interesting to see how Sae is like Ego; I agree! I want to see Sae and Ego interacting now, as well! But I agree, I feel they are testing the waters and we’re just getting started. I’m excited to see where it goes to from here! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Omg you’re so right, it did feel like a Haikyuu episode. Also, Rin trying to one-up Sae by copying his shot reminded of the setter rivalries in Haikyuu, where like one setter dumps, then the opposing setter dumps it right back. Btw when they talk about Nagi’s “control” or him being a “Super Controller,” it’s referring to his ball control, in other words, his trapping or first touch when receiving the ball. That would be funny though if that nickname was referencing Nagi being a gamer. Kento Cho really reminds me of Daisuke Kambe from Millionaire Detective. The JFU logo that’s on the U20 jersey looks like a rabbit jumping over the moon. I think it might be a reference to the Moon Rabbit in Japanese folklore which is a story about selflessness and sacrifice. That’s pretty representative of Japanese culture and is in opposition of Blue Lock’s whole deal about selfishness and ego. I wonder if there’s any symbolism behind the BLLK bear(?) and bulldog lol. Also, I loved your discussion of the U20 vs BLLK: red vs blue, fire vs water, and difference in play styles. And fun fact, the real life version of the JFU is the JFA whose logo has the Yatagarasu, the 3-legged crow in Japanese mythology. Gonna dump some VA info! Hayate Haru (super saiyan) is voiced by Kensho Ono - Kuroko (KNB), Floch (AOT), Akutagawa (BSD), Tadashi (Sk8), Yuri (Spy Family), Canute (Vinlnad), Ukyo (Dr. Stone), etc. I’m happy that Kensho Ono’s voicing in BLLK! It just feels right. Fukaku Gen (goalie) is voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi - Legoshi (Beastars). Miroku Darai (tattooed monk) is voiced by Yusuke Shirai - Sasaki (Sasaki & Miyano). Kazuma Niou (the Dobermann) is voiced by Takuya Satou - Albert (Moriarty) and Harald (Vinland). Kitsunezato Teru (the lemur) is voiced by Gakuto Kajiwara - Yuu Haibara (JJK). Wakatsuki Itsuki (eyebags) is voiced by Taito Ben - Shizu (Given).

The setter-rivalry vibes are SO there between Rin and Sae, I agree! I do think it’s hilarious that Nagi is a gamer and that the “Super Controller” doesn’t refer to that but his handling control; love it! Ooohhh, Cho DOES remind me of Daisuke! Yessssss, there we go! Interesting about the three-legged crow with the actual JFA logo! I feel ears and bulldogs are…gruff? I may have to look up some symbolism before episode 8. And VA info! Yay! Thank you for all that and the comment! So excited for the Rule of 8 today!
