So I looked up Fox fire and apparently it is the name given to bioluminescent fungi! I can see if you are walking in a forest at night and you see glowing mushrooms that you would think it’s an animal spirit of some sort. https://www.lib.uchicago.edu/about/news/foxfire-and-fungi-solving-a-2300-year-old-mystery/ More glowing mushrooms: https://pin.it/4EF22scp2. https://pin.it/NoSATgCaB I think they are pretty cool! The Aurora Borealis is also referred to as Foxfire. I would love to see that someday. It’s on my bucket list! Yeah, in the opening, you see Dororo covering her chest with her arms. I always thought this was her hiding her true self. It also conveys being more vulnerable than they project. A lone child in a cruel world without parents. Hehehe, there are a few spoilers in that OP, so, more drama to look forward to? 🤷‍♀️ my favorite image from the op are the headless horses galloping above Dororo. Yeah, you can see the train wreck a mile away that will go down due to Daigo being a crap person. It’s a disaster of his own making do to his own ego. Loved your reaction and can’t wait for part two! Btw, we made mason jar ice cream yesterday and it worked! 😋

The previous episode really is such a tease with how it ends, especially with this episode starting with them properly meeting. Episode 10 leaves you thinking they're just going to pass each other by and not actually have a conversation. Only for us to get some semblance of an interaction in this episode. Also gotta say I love the detail of Mutsu being the one to give over the money to Dororo (we don't actually see the exchange, just that Mutsu is now closer to them and slightly bowed between Tahomaru and Hyakkimaru and Dororo). A young master like Tahomaru certainly wouldn't have carried coins on his person (something nobles in both the East and West had in common), instead someone in their retinue would be in charge of the noble's purse. I think this may be the first time Hyakkimaru has said his own name. Quite a bit of significance that the first time he does is introducing himself to his younger brother. Especially given that his name was one gifted to him by Jukai, and not their birth parents (his mother has only ever referred to him as "boy"). The woman's song about the demon child is so creepy, but when I think of some children's songs from I was a kid and the actual meaning to them it is a fitting lullaby. Poor woman, traumatised by what she witnessed during that birth. The play is an interesting piece of propaganda for the common people. Though I do find it interesting that the play seems to be a mix of elements from Noh theatre and Kabuki theatre. Kabuki, I believe, would have been the more common drama style for the common people. The style of such Kabuki dramas is similar to the storytelling of the play Dororo takes Hyakkimaru to (simpler movements and focusing more on the emotions within the story). But typically face paint would be used in Kabuki over masks which are used more often in Noh, and here the demon is portrayed wearing a mask; and Noh use less stage tools in comparison to Kabuki. Also potentially at the time women could perform Kabuki, but all the performers are male (even the one playing Daigo's wife holding the Goddess of Mercy statue). Women were banned from performing during this time period until present day, but in Noh only men were allowed to perform until present day when it has become more inclusive. Daigo saying "Women don't understand politics" is such a way of undermining both his wife's feelings and the idea that you can be emotional about something but also understand the political nature of such a choice. It is definitely a statement that just furthers my dislike of him. The fox fire demon, Kyubi, really is one of the coolest designs so far. Before they took fox form it does remind me a lot of how will-o'-the-wisps are typically depicted. Romania: You're gonna end it here, aren't you?! Two-parters typically end at such a frustrating place, but this is mean 😆 Especially with showing us multiple people in different situations that just make us want to see more (Hyakkimaru and Daigo meeting, Dororo and Sukeroku kidnapped by the Asakura, Biwamura at the steps to the Hall of Hell, and Tahomaru hearing about Hyakkimaru's birth). Interesting theory on what's going to happen 🤔🤐 Yeah I'm not sure if they can eat a demon's meat. And if they can't they likely have to get it out of the water as it's decaying body could poison their water source. It does say something to me that both Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru willingly fight the demon and leave, leaving the clean-up from the fight to the villagers who have to live there 😅 Maybe the cool factor of the fox spirits are why Qi Rong can't have any 🤣 Only one seiyuu for this episode: Sukeroku is voiced by Takuchi Junko who is most famous for being the voice of Naruto from Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden/Boruto.

Oohhhh, that’s super interesting! That honestly connects to the character from HOB I was talking about so much! I love that - thank you for that information - glowing mushrooms ARE COOL! And that makes sense with the Auror Borealis as well! I definitely have it on my bucket list as well! ^^ I honestly have no clue what the horses mean, but I don’t want any clues - we’ll find out when we find out! And I always assumed the Dororo with the body language was just conveying their insecurity and unease, but I didn’t think it was “I’m hiding I’m a woman” because that’s so specific, haha! Daigo is *sings* The wooooorrrrrsssstttt, and I just want to shake him and TahoMaru for listening to him…but yeah, more on that with Episode 12! And YAY! Mason Jar ice cream! That’s awesome! If we get more ice cream in Dungeon Meshi down the road, I definitely want to try that!! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

The previous episode was such a tease! And this one is almost more of one! I was wondering if it was the first time Hyakkimaru said his name too! I also need him to meet Jukai again, thank you very much, show! 😛 But what a reunion so far, right?! That woman and her song were definitely disturbing! It’s always neat to see in media how “propaganda” is used! Thank you for the information on the theater types! That is interesting! But seriously….Daigo and his undermining is so gross. It’s just a statement that makes me like him less as well! I really, really love the will-o-wisp design and connection with the fox fire, too! Moomin noted how fox fire are fungi, and THAT fits Qi Rong to an absolute “T!” XD I cannot believe they cut it there! *screams* ahahaha!! But I guess that means that Episode 12 will just be crazy, right?! That IS a good point about Tahomaru and Hyakkimaru leaving the clean up to the villagers…I’ll have to note that in a future discussion! Oohhhhhh, that is awesome that Sukeroku is Naruto! Awww, I’ll have to listen to him now more closely! Thank you for the comment and information!
