I'm not a big 'giving advice' person but it seems there is a decent contingent of creatives in the audience here. Hopefully, these casual thoughts on criticism can help someone <3

This is the most polite “idgaf” I’ve seen and I love it keep up the good work!

Exactly how one should politely say “You do you boo” 😂😂

Love your content man. Been watching you for the last few months and your IRA video convinced me to subscribe here. I’m Irish and a huge history and philosophy enthusiast and you just produce your videos in such a fantastic way. So thought provoking, interesting and well produced. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪

Would you ever consider making a video about the story of some artists? I am italian so I have a strong bias but artists like Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Modigliani all have some really interesting lives (not necessarily eccentric as much as just their experiences through life). I think it would be an amazing subject for one of your impeccable essays, we often focus on the art of these artists given their craftsmanship and beauty, but the story behind the artist can often heighten the paintings, allowing for a deeper connection to the art and the artist.

I have been dealing with a huge writer’s block after stepping away from the limelight of playing live shows to focus on producing. You just reminded me that I’m supposed to be having fun with it and to create what I want in this world. Thank you

I am a graduate student who is currently under-performing in the eyes of my principle investigator. I switched divisions in chemistry and have been playing catch up all year. Your video has reminded me why I want to do this, because I want to further humanities knowledge, to hopefully do some meaningful good in doing so. I know I am putting the work in, work he does not see; I am holding myself to my own standard. It makes the pain of his criticism easier to parse, I can take what is constructive and move forward with it while discarding what is not. Thank you

I like your take on criticism. In film-school it seems to be drilled in to our heads that you MUST create only with the audience in mind, that to create what the ‘artist’ likes is indulgent. I think this develops artist-filmmakers with a people-pleasing attitude, who worry about what others think. So I found this refreshing, and liberating. Thanks!

Haha I used to hate criticism, now it doesn't bother me. I use it to hone an check myself. All around love your content. I like staring into the abyss, especially the one inside myself.
