Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of Clone Wars 6x07!  Oh man, watching Clovis epically fail here was really intense and sad!  He made some really poor choices but ultimately, he was right that he was no mastermind.  But dang, he just had nothing to lose and really spiraled here.  Sadly, this all makes Anakin look pretty much in the right...but seriously, are we NOT gonna talk about the violent outburst?!  That was still pretty bad right, regardless of Clovis?!  What if he'd been wrong?!  This would have gone a very different way...!!!!  Another great arc in the books!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

These two episodes definitely showed the worst of Anakin, his Vader side if you will, but its kind of sad when you realise how much of that is orchestrated by Palpatine's plans as well as Anakin's own issues with his suppressed rage. And yeah, as much as I didn't like Clovis as a kid, and regardless of how much I still don't like him now, I still feel bad for him here. Sometimes when we're pushed to our limit we spiral and do things that we, in our clearer mindsets, would otherwise regret. Clovis was pushed to the brink of desperation and spiraled as bad as he did here, and Anakin was pushed to the brink of his rage (even in spite of the vindication he felt over Clovis spiraling and proving him right) and unleashed his rage in this outburst. Two different spirals but sort of the same tipping point if you get what I mean?

For sure! And you're so right - so much of this was manipulated, on top of everything Anakin was already dealing with. And the Clovis situation is sad for sure. SO true about the two different rage spirals but with the same breaking point! That's such an interesting parallel.

It's honestly masterful what Palpatine has done to push Anakin to the dark side. Manipulating events to take Ahsoka away from him. Sewing distrust between him and Obi Wan in the Undercover Rako Hardeen Arc. Getting his Clones killed by sending him off to Coruscant and sending in Krell, possibly to kill Fives, Rex, and all his Clone bros. Manipulating events that would put Anakin in situations where the Jedi would trust him less and less. And several times putting Padme in danger and putting their relationship at risk just to drive him further and further to the edge. He almost has nothing left by the Revenge of The Sith.

kamenriderhime

It truly is! He's put a lot of consistent effort into it, gotta say that for him. But yeah, by Episode 3, all that's left is to basically get poor Anakin dumped in some lava and into his Vader suit :(

Saltire

People tend to give Clovis a hard time throughout, and yes he does bring a lot of it on himself; he was clearly an ambitious person who became corrupted early, but in trying to find a sort of redemption here, falls into the claws of Palpatine and his plans to further his control of the Republic. He now has not just the unheard of power granted to him from the senators in the movies, but now has possession of the banks too, solidifying his grip further. We also see how much the vast majority of senators support him come what may, and see just how much they are willing to give up their democracy, to win the war, and in doing so, will be ready to accept the birth of the Empire. I love the music during Palpatine's speech at the end. You can really feel how much power he now has, and that the rise of true evil under his tenure as the Emperor, is only months away now. Pretty dark stuff.

kamenriderhime

Yes, Clovis is a good example of "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" - and like you mentioned, this is also on the part of others around him too, who are willing to sacrifice a lot (maybe too much) to win the war. Ohhhh the speech!!! Yes we are so close to his rise to power now, so dark!!!

Nick

To be fair to Anakin here, near the end he valiantly tried to hold on to both Padme and Clovis. And I do feel sorry for Clovis: it’s quite dark for a ‘kids’ show that he let go and let himself fall - another victim of Palpatine’s manipulations and ambitions. Like Saltire, I love the ominous, dark music at the end, when Palpatine is giving his speech - a speech very reminiscent of the speech he gives at the end of Revenge of the Sith. You could almost see Padme being about to say, “Is this how democracy ends … with thunderous applause”

kamenriderhime

That is true! And yes, sometimes I forget this show is for kids lol. The music was amazing! OMG, I was just editing this episode and thought that to myself during that very scene!!!

Nick

I forget that despite all the Clone Wars videos being available on here you are still working on them. That you were just editing this video and thinking about those lines from Revenge of the Sith was a bit of a coincidence!
